Shifter Date - Hungry as a Wolf: Paranormal Dating App Series (Shifter Date #2) by Alma Black

Shifter Date - Hungry as a Wolf: Paranormal Dating App Series (Shifter Date #2) by Alma Black

Blurb:
What happens when two shifters meet? They're ravenous for love.

Luke knows how to get what he wants. A lone wolf at heart, he has no problem filling his bed with willing partners. Sure, it's steamy, but love? It's not in the cards. But when he matches with his best friend's little sister on the paranormal dating app, Shifter Date, everything changes. Jasmine is a fiery lioness and totally off limits--but that makes her all the more alluring.

Jasmine has had a crush on Luke as long as she can remember. He's sexy, powerful, and alpha. But as his best friend's little sister, Jasmine knows she doesn't stand a chance.

When Luke swipes right on her Shifter Date profile, Jasmine is shocked. Could this be the start of something more, a shifter romance?

But Power Shift is out for blood. They oppose any interspecies dating, and will stop at nothing to keep the shapeshifter lines pure. When they attack, can Jasmine and Luke protect each other? Can their newfound love survive? Can wolves and lions be fated mates?

Warning: this book contains crazy chemistry, lots of sex, and a little violence to keep things spicy. If those things don't appeal to you, this book is not for you!

My review:
After a slow start this best friends little sister book takes off like a bullet and drags you into the vapor trail. I’ll admit I was getting worried but then the story took off with a few twists and turns I didn’t see coming. All in all a fun read.

Winter Awakening (Black Hills Wolves #62): Winter Solstice #3 by TL Reeve

Blurb:
Sara Philips has come home after almost twelve years. Married to a man she planned on claiming as her own and telling about the babies she carried, she never got the chance. Now, the widowed mother of twin ten-year-old rambunctious boys, she has learned what true happiness is along with the gut wrenching pain of loss.

Ero and Luc Mathews, the dark and light twins, are waiting for the one. For the last year, women have come and gone from their life without that spark of recognition. When Sara steps into Los Lobos Café looking for a job, the punch to Ero’s gut, shocks him to his core. But he worries the connection won’t be there for his brother.

Love and Luc aren’t synonymous with each other. Where his brother is the ever optimist, he’s more incline to sit back and let everything play out. However, when he sees Sara in the convenience store, he can’t stop thinking about her. There’s something hidden within those amber-colored eyes of hers.

With the Solstice upon them, Gee enlists their help in a little scavenger hunt of sorts. They have ten days to find their item and present it to him on the night of the festivities.

Having to work together keeps them in close quarters and ignites a passion Sarah hasn’t felt since before her husband died. But, with two children and a nosey mother always asking questions, she doesn’t have time to consummate their budding mating. However, on the night of the solstice, both men will have what is rightfully theirs. The only question is, can her heart stand another chance at love?

My review:
Winter Awakening is a sweet starting over story that turns into a sexy ménage. I enjoyed the story but felt the author spent a lot of time setting up future stories (that I want to read). Sara has spent a lot of time alone since her human husband, the father of her twins, died overseas. Sara has made due with the help of her gay brother. Now they have returned to Los Lobos and she discovers she has not one but two mates. This is going to take some thought.

When he sees Rachel on the dating app, his mating instinct goes wild. Rachel's sassy lion eyes, her curves for miles, and her loving heart makes her a shifter he can't resist. But can he and Rachel mate for life? Or will her past keep her from her fated mate?
This is a BBW paranormal romance ebook, featuring a fierce lion and a protective bear. It's full of super hot shapeshifters, plenty of heart, and lots of sexy sex. If those don't sound up your alley, stay away!

My review:
What happens when he is the one who wants a relationship but she has been burnt and is looking for a hook up? Find out in this delicious read from Alma Black. Gareth despairs of ever finding his mate and Rachel has been burnt by the guy she has loved her entire life. Thank goodness shifters can sense their mates it may help Gareth win the fair ladies hand. This may be the best in the series to date. Can be read stand alone.

A Siren for the Bear (Sarkozy Brothers #1) by Meredith Clarke

Blurb:
Carson Grant sings for her supper. Between her covers and her weekend gigs, she’s been making it well enough as an indie singer.
Until she lands a job she can’t say no to.

Marek Sarkozy knew, the moment he saw his Siren, that she was the one for him. Now, he’ll do whatever it takes to make her his, even if his heart ignores his reality.

The Sarkozy men hid a secret as old as their ancestors. Their bear shifter genes are slowly dying out. But Marek doesn’t care if he is the last of his line. Not as long as he can have Carson.

But will the danger to his clan outweigh the strength of his devotion to his chosen mate?

*Standalone Bear Shifter Romance*

My review:
A Siren for the Bear is a fast, fun bear shifter romance. Marek is conflicted. He knows what he is feeling for the sexy chanteuse is more than just lust but she is human.  Carson was thrilled to get the fill in gig with Ursus Major but she can’t help but lust after Marek Sarkozy and that could make the job tough. The fact he has people shooting at him and secrets that would blow her mind might make it tougher still. I thoroughly enjoyed this quick paced romp.
I received a copy of this book and chose to review it

Louder Than Words (Going to the Dogs 2: The Alphas #3) by Zoe Dawson

Blurb:
RN Talia Cassano works on the same floor of the hospital as gorgeous, sexy Dr. Connor Wentworth, sought after high society bachelor and world renowned reconstructive surgeon. Burned by love, she’s well aware she’s out of his league and really wants a simple life, her dream to own a flower shop on the horizon. But then her brother and mother are in a car accident, her brother’s head and face injuries severe and disfiguring. Even her life savings won’t cover the expensive procedures. She knows that Connor works for AlphaGroup and a grant could help with the high cost of his services. Even as he works tirelessly and generously for the sake of her brother, could she trust the same type of man who had burned her in the past?

With Talia’s application to AlphaGroup, Connor doesn’t challenge his deep need to take on her brother pro bono. His work has been his life and his relationships have remained uncomplicated on purpose. He realized at a young age that it would either be medicine or love. He couldn’t do both well enough to suit his conscience. But there was something about the lovely nurse he couldn’t shake and he’d been trying for months. When he’s thrown together with her over the care of her brother, this sweet, down-to-earth beauty shakes up his upper-crust world and his foundations. Can they somehow meet in the middle or will their goals pull them apart?

My review:
Louder Than Words is a great addition to the series and can be read standalone. There is a lot going on in this story. Can a man be both a dedicated ground breaking surgeon and a giving partner in a relationship? I really liked the multi-dimensional character of Dr. Connor Wentworth. He fascinated me on several levels. I loved the differences between the way Connor and Talia see the world. I’m sure it had everything to do with the different ways they were raised. I loved watching these two come together. The dogs are almost an afterthought in this one but the story works on all fronts for me.

Holly Jolly Wolf (Wolves of Willow Bend #9.75) by Heather Long

Blurb:
Hunter Rory Adler loves Willow Bend, their traditions, and their community. She will do anything for them. When she draws the name of the wolf who walked away for the pack's secret Santa, she’s torn.

What does she get the wolf she’s had to learn to hate?

After more than a year spent watching over Three Rivers, Collin returns home for the holidays. Fighting a strange sense of malaise, he must come face to face with the challenge the holiday presents, and the wolf he left behind.

Can the magic of pack bring them together again?

My review:
Holly Jolly Wolf is a gift from the author and to your imagination. I love that this is an older couple, set in their ways functioning well in their roles yet incomplete without the other. Rory uses her knowledge of Collin and her role as Secret Santa to remind him why he belongs in Willow Bend and her. But it may still take a holiday miracle to get the message through.
Thank you Heather Long for this gift to your fans. If you have never read any of the Wolves of Willow Bend series grab this gift and enjoy.

Sassy Ever After: Sass Master (Kindle Worlds Novella) by Marianne Morea

Blurb:
Sassy and independent, Jewel Randall is not one for easy trust. Adopted as a human infant into the veiled world of the supernatural, she grew up thinking she was nothing special. That certainty dissolved the moment her strong gut instinct exploded with unsettling premonitions. With her world in a tailspin, she heads home for help in figuring out why, only to find her past waiting for her in more ways than one.

Ethan Lowe, local bad boy shifter of the Catamount Pride, has haunted Jewel’s dreams for a decade. When the two meet again, old passions ignite, reawakening desires and regret she’d rather not face, especially not with everything she believed about herself challenged by revelations that threaten to destroy her. Literally.

Can she learn to accept the truth about herself as well as her feelings for Ethan and learn to trust? Can she learn to control her newfound abilities and save herself? It’ll take help—from her past, present and future.

My review:
I love this book from the cover to the end. Jewel Randall rocks and deserves a hot cat like Ethan Lowe. This is a rocket paced story that will have you reading it in one sitting. Just when you think the author is going to take the easy way out she surprises you with a twist you didn’t expect. A super fun and sexy read.

Trouble in Texas by Melissa Schroeder

Blurb:
Two Texas sized romantic suspense books for one low price.

HER MOTHER'S KILLER
A woman who can’t escape her past.

Althea Johnson would like to leave the past behind. The memories of her mother's murder lurk in her dreams and someone wants her to remember. Deciding to return to the small Texas town where it took place to deal with the demons from that night.

A man who will do anything to protect her.

Duncan can’t believe his best friend’s little sister has grown into such a wonderful bundle of curves. He is at first stunned by his reaction to her, but never one to be slow he starts putting the moves on her. It isn’t until he is completely seduced by her that he realizes that she is putting herself in danger to solve the old crime.
A killer who will do anything to possess her.

As both of them fall in love with each other, the stalking and danger escalates. Women close to Althea’s description are being found raped and murdered. The new lovers work overtime to figure out just what went wrong 20 years earlier, not realizing the mysteries they will reveal could jeopardize everything they are fighting for.

GRACE UNDER PRESSURE
Excitement, danger, and falling for the man of her dreams all have Grace under pressure.

Small town college professor Grace Michaels’ normally boring life has become more than a sane woman can handle. First, her ex-finance shows up in town, then her parents park their RV in front of her house. It makes it kind of difficult to seduce her sexy new neighbor, Sheriff Ren Morello. Of course, having her office and home burglarized isn’t great either, but it does put her up close and personal with Ren.

Ren wants nothing to do with Grace. So what if he can’t seem to stop thinking about her? She is a woman who would demand commitment and after his nasty divorce from his cheating ex-wife, Ren wants nothing to do with marriage. All he wants is hard fast sex. The problem is, the only woman he can picture it with is Grace.

When the threats to Grace turn almost deadly, Ren finds himself in her company more often than not, and keeping his hands off her becomes impossible. But as the danger grows closer, the attraction grows deeper, and Grace must choose between protecting her heart or her life.

Both books have been released as single titles.

My review:
Two Texas sized romantic suspense novels from Melissa Schroeder. These books have been released before and you may have missed them but now you don’t have or want to.

HER MOTHER'S KILLER
Thea Johnson has come home. Her marriage has gone the way of the Dodo and she needs to go back to the beginning. Small towns never forget anything and most of the town believes Thea’s father killed her mother and then took off. Thea knows deep in her soul that isn’t the case. Now it appears someone is out to get her too. Can her brothers best bud the hunky sheriff Duncan keep her safe? This story is filled with twists and turns that will keep you guessing till the very end.

GRACE UNDER PRESSURE
This is a sweet, funny, sexy contemporary romance. Grace is a slightly clumsy college professor with a heart of gold living and working in a small Texas town. Ren Morello is the hunky new sheriff who moves in across the street. He is recently divorced and wants to keep any and all interactions with the female set no strings. Grace was cheated on by her ex fiancé but is still the settling down kind and thus not for Ren no matter how sexy he finds her. I adored Grace and got almost as big a kick out of the secondary characters as I did Ren & Grace. Another winner from the pen of Melissa Schroeder.

My copy was given by the author and I have voluntarily written a review.

Stolen kisses
Set a task in the scavenger hunt, Sadie and Easton must work together. Proximity and attraction lead to stolen kisses and more between the pair. The mating call is strong, but is it too much for her to handle?

Sadie faces the decision of her life. Is she a solid, reliable Burrows, or a flighty, untrustworthy King? It’s not only her heart at risk if she makes the wrong choice.

My review:
I LOVE THIS SERIES!!! Stolen Kisses is a sweet bordering on sappy holiday time tale. Sadie is running from a less than perfect situation and Easton is making the best of what life has handed him. Together they can be so much better. With the help of a large extended family these two can find home in each others arms. I will read this again and again when I need a pick me up.

Can the men find a way to love her and still protect her from the danger lurking outside the galaxy?

**Reverse Harem, Intense**

Blurb:
So much to love about this book. I love that Diana feels like an outsider being older than her sibs and the daughter of famous parents she could have felt entitled. She doesn’t. I love the fact that she and the guys are forced to get to know one another before they indulge in hot sex. I love the whole reverse harem thing and how differently she handles it compared to her mother. I loved pretty much the whole story and now must find out where they go from here.

Absolute Trust (True Heroes #3) by Piper J. Drake

Blurb:
LOVE IS THE GREATEST RISK OF ALL
After multiple tours of duty, Brandon Forte returns to his hometown on a personal mission: to open a facility for military service dogs like Haydn, a German shepherd who's seen his share of combat and loss. It also brings him back to Sophie Kim, a beacon of light in his life . . . and the one woman he can't have. But Forte's success means he's made enemies in high places. Enemies who are now after Sophie . . .

When Forte enlisted and left without saying goodbye, Sophie did her best to move on. But with her first love back in town, looking sexier than ever, she's constantly reminded of what they could have had. Then after he risks himself for her, Sophie realizes she'll have to put her life in the hands of the man who broke her heart, knowing the danger -and the sparks between them- could consume them both.

My review:
Absolute Trust is a second chance romantic suspense that will absolutely charm you.  I love Sophie. She is smart and sweet and not perfect but she gives her best. Haydn, a German Shepherd Dog, like Brandon is broken but healing. Brandon annoyed me on occasion but he took care of Sophie and finally got his head out his tail. Now if they can only stay alive long enough to enjoy it. Note you will need a box of tissues for this one.

Starstruck Holidays: A MM Sci-Fi Holiday Romance Anthology by Lia, Kerry Adrienne, Jennifer Loring, Merryn Dexter and B. Leslie Tirrell

Blurb:
Heat up your holidays with four out of this world, MM sci-fi romance novellas from five bestselling authors.
From Jennifer Loring’s NO ONE ON EARTH ~ Erukkass has located his deceased lover in another dimension and refuses to leave without him. Jon, grieving a devastating loss, turns to the native legend of Handsome Fellow for comfort. When he and Erukkass meet, can they forge a future together, or will two timelines that have always intersected, no matter when or where, finally be forced to diverge?
From Merryn Dexter’s CONJUNCTION ~ The mystical Conjunction of the moons of Elexon sets two men on a collision course. A pirate and a prince — nothing in common but the attraction burning between them. What starts as a fling soon grows serious, but a relationship built on a foundation of secrets and constructed from lies is no relationship at all.
From B. Leslie Tirrell’s ARIZONA IMPULSE ~ Ambassador Kallell Tezak, the youngest member of the Galaxy Alliance, overhears two of his fellow ambassadors conspiring to take control of the device that protects the galaxy from famine. Kallell knows it is his duty to stop them, but he also wants to enjoy his favorite holiday, Genzebe, and summon the bravery to confess his love for the shy and serious Esten Lazzaro, who happens to be Kallell’s second in command.
From Kerry Adrienne and Lia Davis’s FIRST CONTACT ~ Fugitive Tristan Hawthorne escapes imprisonment only to crash-land on an unidentified, uncharted planet where he faces an alien who stirs passions he thought were long buried. With one working ship and a failing planetary cloaking device, it’s a short time till humans discover Oria and Tristan is recaptured. Under the starry, moonlit sky of the holiday Jainfest, the men learn to overcome their feelings of fear and distrust, and wind up finding out they aren’t so different after all.

My review:
Four stories by five fantastic authors
NO ONE ON EARTH – I am not familiar with this author and have to admit that this story was my least favorite of the bunch. Too woo woo for me.
CONJUNCTION – Who can resist a good prince and the pirate story? This story had twists, turns and heat. Super fun.
ARIZONA IMPULSE – A story by new to me author (but I will be looking for more of her work now) that is two stories in one. I was left with questions but had fun making up my own answers.
FIRST CONTACT – A sweet story of a fugitive and a young man mourning the loss of his mother and trying to make plans for his future when tall dark and handsome human drops in. Oh the possibilities.
These stories will make you think, make you laugh and make you sigh with happiness.

With the solstice upon them, he finds himself willing to move heaven and earth to make these festivities the best time of her life.

And if he ends up mated to her? Well, there are worse things that could happen.

My review:
I wanted to hate Sayer Blackcrow for his push me pull you ways with Kizzy and I wanted to hate her for putting up with it no matter how great the sex is but just as I was getting ready to give up Drew & Gee stepped in and things got really fun. Watching Sayer get his head out of his ass is a truly good read.

Above the Paw (Paw Enforcement #5) by Diane Kelly is a worthy addition to the series. It kept me guessing and turning pages and up way past my bedtime. I don’t know how to share what I loved about it without giving spoilers so I will just say that if you like cozy mysteries grab this book.

Pit Perfect (Barkside of the Moon Mysteries Book 1) by Renee George

Blurb:
Pit Perfect, Book 1 of the Barkside of the Moon Mysteries from USA Today bestselling paranormal cozy mystery author Renee George, is an exciting tale of mystery and suspense that will have you on the edge of your seat. Fall in love with Lily Mason, the shifter who only wants to live as a human, and her pit bull Smooshie, a rescue dog who in the end may be the one doing the rescuing!

When cougar-shifter Lily Mason moves to Moonrise, Missouri, she wishes for only three things from the town and its human population: 1) to find a job, 2) to find a place to live, and 3) to live as a human, not a therianthrope.

Lily gets more than she bargains for when a rescue pit bull named Smooshie rescues her from an oncoming car, and it’s love at first sight. Thanks to Smooshie, Lily’s first two wishes are granted by Parker Knowles, the owner of the Pit Bull Rescue center, who offers her a job at the shelter and the room over his garage for rent.

Lily’s new life as an integrator is threatened when Smooshie finds Katherine Kapersky, the local church choir leader and head of the town council, dead in the field behind the rescue center. Unfortunately, there are more suspects than mourners for the elderly town leader. Can Lily keep her less-than-human status under wraps? Or will the killer, who has pulled off a nearly Pit Perfect murder, expose her to keep Lily and her dog from digging up the truth?

This paranormal cozy mystery contains cougar-shifters, shifters, lovable pit bulls, and supernatural beings.

My review:
Pit Perfect is a fun paranormal cozy mystery filled with murder mystery and mayhem. Cougar-shifter Lily hasn’t had an easy life but she is starting over in a human town where the only other shifter is an uncle she has never met. Lily is plucky with a terrific sense of humor. When she gets to town she immediately discovers 2 things. The 4 way stop in front of the repair shop is deadly (Probably because the sign is broken) and she has been adopted by an adorable pit bull she names Smooshie. Smooshie introduces Lily to Parker Knowles owner of a pit bull rescue operation; the one Smooshie escaped from. When Parker is wrongfully accused of killing the meanest woman in town it is Lily and Smooshie on the case. This town is filled with memorable characters and a lot of secrets. Now that Lily is sticking around we may find out some of them but who knows Lily’s secret?

Bearly in Control (Shifter Undercover #1) by Milly Taiden

Blurb:
For vet and animal whisperer Charli Avers, talking to bears is all in a day’s work. But when she finds a man—a very sexy, very alpha man—where a bear ought to be, the wild comes close to home. Charli is drawn to this mysterious stranger. She wants to help him piece together the past he can’t remember—even if that means shedding her human misgivings and embracing her more carnal desires.

After shifting from bear to man, Barry believes he’s finally found his mate. Now he just needs to find himself. He doesn’t know much about the animal within him, but his human heart aches for Charli. She ignites his instincts to protect her from all danger—including their electric attraction.

The stakes climb as Charli investigates the mystery behind Barry’s memory loss and how it may relate to strange sightings and thefts in this little corner of Oregon. Without answers, she may lose Barry—and herself—to the wild side forever.

My review:
Laugh out loud funny! Bearly in Control is two stories in one. There is the super-hot love story between Bear shifter Barry and veterinarian and animal whisperer Charli. No problems here. These two click on every level. Then there is the mystery side. When I figure it out faster than the characters it is pretty bad. But I got a total kick out of the interplay between the characters especially Devlin and Russell.
Spoilerish alert!!
I have a lot of questions:
How did Barry end up a bear and who was he before?
What if anything did Marika discover?
Is Barry going to continue to go into fugue states?
Who was controlling the cat woman?
Why were the bad guys after Barry & Charli?
And so many more…

Even with these questions I enjoyed the book and am screaming for the next which hopefully will contain some of the answers.

For Maggie's Sake by Lora Leigh

Blurb:
Sinful pleasure and forbidden desire rule in #1 bestselling author Lora Leigh's story For Maggie's Sake, previously published in the anthologies Real Men Do It Better and Taken, now exclusively in e.

Maggie Chavez is in protective custody with a member of her former lover's SEAL team. Joe, her ex-lover, thinks Maggie is hiding information from him about a powerful drug lord and the deaths of some SEALs. He intends to seduce her and get the information before she can sell it back to the drug cartel. But the desire crackles between them and their attraction is undeniable. How can Joe use her and leave her, when all he wants is to hold her close and never let go?

My review:
When I pick up a book written by Lora Leigh I expect it to be smokin’ hot. This short second chance romance is no exception although there were times I wanted to Gibbs slap each of these characters before they got to the good stuff. The story is nothing new but when Lora Leigh tells it you want to listen. This story reads like an x-rated cop show. Enjoy. I know I did.

The Virgin's Infiltrator (Black Hills Wolves #56) by Dominique Eastwick

Blurb:
Sometimes one infiltrator isn’t enough. When a long lost Tao pack member is located in Europe, D and 7 accept the challenge to rescue the missing wolf. But sometimes, it takes crossing thousands of miles to find what your soul most desires.

Natalia remembers nothing of her life before being enslaved in a traveling circus. When tall, dark and mysterious strangers show up to help her escape, she feels a connection she’s never experienced before. Should she trust her heart to follow them, or will it land her in another case of captivity.

Danger may be in the blood of infiltrators, but what will D do when his soul mate is the one threatened? And how will two twins, who have shared everything, deal with a female who comes between them?

My review:
100 pages of wolfy goodness but way too short. Natalia has been hell but retained her spirit by helping the other shifters stuck in hell with her. Mate or no I would have been a little more upset about being separated from my fellow captives even though they were being liberated. She didn’t hang on to her virginity by being stupid. Other than that The Virgin's Infiltrator is an enjoyable read.

Sassy Ever After: A Touch of Sass (Kindle Worlds Novella) by Bianca D'Arc

Blurb:
What’s an Alpha to do when the woman of his dreams turns out to be not only human, but a nosey researcher to boot? Oh yeah, and she’s riled up the more backwards members of his new pack to the point that they’ve targeted her for death. He has to step in and save her, no matter how much he thinks he’d be better off without the warm bundle of complications in his arms.

Maria has a thing for Sexy Shane, as she calls him in her mind. He’s the leader of the local wolf pack she’s been trying to study from afar. If she could just get hard evidence about some of their rituals and practices, her academic career would be made, but these wolves are elusive.

When she overhears two of them talking about a ceremony in the woods, she sets up surveillance. She doesn’t realize it’s a trap until Sexy Shane tracks her down and proves to her that not only was she in danger, but that he’s just the big bad wolf to save her…and rock her world.

It’s a rocky road to romance for Shane and Maria, though. Will his pack accept her or will he have to fight to the death to keep her? And can she adapt to life with the wild and wooly Clay Ridge pack? They’ll face danger and find love, trying to find out.

My review:
I love it when the female lead is kick ass and Professor Maria Rojas is alpha without being aware. She has caught the eye of the new alpha who doesn’t have time for the curvy Latina human. He is trying to get his pack of misfits to come together. But fate will not be denied and we get to go along for the ride. And a fun and sexy ride it is.

Making Christmas by Lizzie T. Leaf

Blurb:
The original release of Making Christmas won Love Romances Best Historical Book 2011 and the winner of the Aspen Gold 2012 for Best Novella.

Callie Sue Marsh is determined to find her brother who went off to fight the Yankees after learning of their father’s death. Disguised as a boy she is constricted into the Confederate Army and wounded in a skirmish.

The doctor treating her wounds learns the truth. But can she trust him to keep her secret?
When a young boy is brought to the medical tent, Dr. Thomas Kent discovers his patient is a female. Her recovery and protection becomes important to him and he tells the officer in charge the lad needs to stay and assist him while he recovers from his wounds.

Working with the doctor Callie discovers not all Yankees are bad. They miss their families, especially with Christmas around the corner. Determined to make the holiday a little brighter, she makes a plan. But part of her plan wasn’t to fall in love with Thomas Kent.
Will they able to put the past behind them and create a life together after the war ends?

My review:
A feel good Christmas tale without being overly sappy. Lizzie T. Leaf takes us back to the American Civil War and puts us in one of the darkest and most disturbing places and allows Christmas to bring in the light and love. Nothing earth shatteringly new about this story but I loved it just the same.

The Navy SEAL's Secret Baby: A Second Chance Romance by L.K. Shaw

Blurb:
After kicking my cheating boyfriend to the curb, I was ready to drown my sorrows in a bottle of tequila. Then I saw him. What started out as a sexy flirtation turned into a night of red-hot passion. When I woke the next morning next to a naked man whose name I couldn’t remember, I did the only thing I could — I ran.

When the beautiful, curvy blonde laid one on me, I couldn’t stop with one kiss. Before I knew it, we’d spent a mind-blowing night together. When I woke up alone, I did everything I could to find her, but the trail ran cold.

Two years later, we are unexpectedly reunited, and I discover the secret she’s kept from me.

I refuse to let her get away again. Not when she’s the mother of my child.

My review:
Check your brain at the door and just enjoy. A hot one night stand leaves Sofie pregnant and she can’t even remember the name of the stud she hooked up with. Two years later she is on vacation with friends and meets up with the baby daddy (only in a romance novel) and he still has the hots for her despite the baby weight she has yet to lose. This book is hot and predictable and is still a blast to read. A fun escape.

Cowboys Don't Come Out by Tara Lain

Blurb:
Rand McIntyre settles for good enough. He loves his small California ranch, raising horses, and teaching riding to the kids he adores—but having kids of his own and someone to love means coming out, and that would jeopardize everything he’s built. Then, despite his terror of flying, he goes on a holiday to Hana, Hawaii, with his parents and meets the dark and mysterious Kai Kealoha, a genuine Hawaiian cowboy. Rand takes to Kai’s kid brother and sister as much as he drools over Kai, but the guy sports more prickles than a horned toad and more secrets than the exotic land he comes from.

Kai’s earned his privacy and lives to protect his “kids.” He ought to stay away from the big, handsome cowboy for everyone’s sake—but since the guy’s just a haole on a short vacation, how much damage can he do? When all of Kai’s worst fears and Rand’s darkest nightmares come true at once, there’s not much chance for two cowboys who can’t—or won’t—come out.

My review:
m/m
Cowboys Don't Come Out by Tara Lain is a sweet tale of two closeted cowboys finding each other. The story is fun and filled with snippets of information about Hawaiian cowboys. There is terrific scenery and the secondary characters are great. The problem is that although Rand is instantly smitten I don’t feel it from Kai. Kai is more like insta lust. Or maybe his fears get in the way. Whatever it is this story while likeable doesn’t have the flow that I usually get from one of Ms. Lains stories. This isn’t a bad story it just isn’t as fantastic as others I’ve read by this author.

The Prophecy - “Every generation the nine daughters of Zeus are reborn, and with their rebirth are also nine Guardians. They will be marked by the gods, and given gifts to protect his treasure. Their abilities will only be unlocked when they find their muse.”

Callie O'Connor's life has never been the same since the Muse of Epic Poetry came alive inside of her. Now she's on the other side of the country, working as civilian psychologist for the Navy, and leading her Muse sisters in their quest to reopen the Theater of the Muses.

The gods couldn't have picked a better Guardian. But as Hunter soon discovers, Callie has some skeletons of her own in the closet, and loving her could lead to his destruction.

My review:
Sweet, sexy and super! The second book of the Muse Chronicles has us following Muse of Epic Poetry Callie as she finds her guardian in the very sexy SEAL Hunter Armstrong. She is going to need his skills in and out of the bedroom. Strap in and enjoy this exciting ride into Lisa Kessler’s world of modern Greek mythology and love.

Wolf Unleashed (SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team #5) by Paige Tyler

Blurb:
Wolf shifter Alex Trevino has fallen hard for veterinarian Lacey Barton. Getting her to agree to a date is a lot of work—and winning her heart proves even harder.

Lacey can’t deny her crazy attraction to Alex, but she has no intention of letting herself fall for him. In her less than stellar experience, men don’t stick around.

When Lacey’s sister is kidnapped, it’s up to Alex to crack the case—and prove to Lacey that he isn’t going anywhere.

My review:
Hunky cops that just happen to be werewolves, there are so many places that can take us and in this series Paige Tyler is exploring each one. In Wolf Unleashed werewolf Alex Trevino finds his One in veterinarian Lacey Barton. He is going to have a tough time of it though because Lacey doesn’t trust men. Plus he and the guys are trying to bring down a drug ring when they stumble across an organ harvesting operation and then there is the dog fighting ring. Alex isn’t going to have the time to woo her but he will give it his all. This book is a speeding freight train of action, adventure and love. Strap in and enjoy.
