Dreams of Ivory (Holiday, Montana #5) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:
Jackson Cooper hates magic. Even though his brothers are falling prey to the seductive draw of the paranormal world, Jackson wants nothing to do with it. He also wants nothing to do with marriage, babies, and all that comes with it. He's content with being the stoic, but quiet Uncle Jacks. But when a woman from his past, one he's been dodging for years, comes back to town, Jackson might have to reevaluate his plans.

Honor Bridges is the tooth fairy. Well, not the tooth fairy, but at least one of them. For the past eight years she's been on her own, hiding from what she truly wants. Now she's back in Holiday and ready to take over her duties...as well as deal with Jackson once and for all. But there's another player in town who isn't happy with the decisions she made all those years ago and Jackson might be the one who takes the brunt of that anger.

Warning: Contains a wickedly spicy tooth fairy--complete with sparkly wings, the most tortured of all the Cooper brothers in all his broodiness, and dreams that are sure to make you never want to wake up in this final Cooper Brother’s installment of the Holiday, Montana series.

My review:
Jackson Cooper has intrigued me throughout the other 4 books.  He is the eldest Cooper brother and wants nothing to do with magic or getting married.  Fortunately or unfortunately (depending on your view) you don’t always get what you want and sometimes that is the best thing that could happen to you.  This is a terrific second chance romance.

Rogue Wolf (Wolves of Willow Bend #4) by Heather Long

Blurb:
The Italian Alpha, Salvatore Esposito, crossed an ocean and dared to venture into unfriendly territory to hunt for his missing sister in Willow Bend. He'll do anything to get her back, even if it means he must resist chasing the fierce enforcer who wakens his primal beast...anything.

As an enforcer, Margo Montgomery monitors the lone wolves. She is in the middle of investigating missing wolves from multiple territories when the order comes in to escort the Salvatore to Willow Bend. There's bad blood between her and the current Alpha of Willow Bend, but they soon discover a new danger--a lone wolf gone rogue.

Now Margo must hunt the rogue--a pursuit made all the more dangerous because it becomes readily apparent the rogue they seek isn't alone and Salvatore refuses to be left behind--not when wolves are vanishing without a trace...

My review:
The Wolves of Willow Bend are a bunch of loosely connected stories that take place in and around the werewolf pack trying to rebuild after a psychotic despot almost destroyed them.  Now under a new Alpha the wolves are trying to rebuild.  Although these books can be read standalone I think you might get more out of this one if you’ve read Wolf Bite (Wolves of Willow Bend #1).
The thing I love most about Heather Long’s work is that it is most often character driven.  In this case you have an Alpha female used to being on her own.  How do you give her the man of her dreams?  Too strong and she will fight to be free, too weak and she won’t respect him.  Enter the Italian Alpha, Salvatore Esposito.  Strong, smart, sexy and confident now he just has to prove to Margo that he can be what she needs.  This book is filled with twists, turns and surprises.  I adored it.  The only thing I wasn’t crazy about is the cover.

If You Can't Stand the Heat by Taryn Kincaid

Blurb:
Derek Dunne is a Cordon Bleu-trained food critic for the prestigious New York Monitor, whose scathing review of a popular Italian bistro has driven away all but the most loyal neighborhood patrons.
Lucrezia Serafina DiCicco is a clumsy business school drop-out, working as a chef and scrambling to keep her family’s restaurant afloat, after her father develops diabetes and is banned from his kitchen for his own good.
Now, with The Monitor folding, Derek is searching for his next career path and longing to get back to his first love—cooking—while Lu is desperate for an influx of cash to save the struggling restaurant even as her father puts his foot down regarding non-family employees.
Derek and Lu embark on a marriage of inconvenience to save the restaurant. But can Lu ever really trust the man who nearly destroyed her family and once noted her initials spelled “LSD” and her food was like a “bad trip?”
Or will it be their hearts on the chopping block?

My review:
This is a fabulously fun contemporary romance.  Boy’s review hastens decline of the family restaurant. Girl with business degree is trying to save said restaurant but is not the chef her father is.  Biy is a a point where he wants to change his life and do what he studied for and follow his passion. They meet and marry to save the restaurant but what about their hearts?  The back and forth is riveting fun.  This book flew by so fast I totally recommend it.

Confessions of a Reformed Tom Cat by Daisy Prescott

Blurb:
I, Thomas Clifford Donnely, am a manwhore.

I’ve been told I’m irresistible to women. Like catnip for a different type of pussy-cat. I guess you could call me a Tom Cat.

This is the story about how I lost my wingman, broke all my own rules, and found myself falling in love.

Tom Donnelly isn't the marrying kind, or the dating kind. Even after losing his #1 wingman to love, he doesn't see the point in relationships. When his sister's best friend returns to Whidbey Island and propositions Donnelly for a one-night stand, he breaks one of his biggest rules—no fooling around with his sisters' friends. It's just sex, nothing more. That's what Tom does and does well.

What happens when "just sex" isn't enough?

Hailey King is more than a match for Tom's flirtations. She's known him most of her life and has heard the rumors about his "skills" for years. When her perfectly planned future falls apart, will the last man she should ever fall for turn out to be more than a one-night stand?

My review:
Oh, how the mighty fall.  Tom Donnely is a likeable manwhore.  He is honest and upfront about it and he doesn’t mess with those who don’t get it.  He loves women and sex.  He doesn’t get love of the forever kind even after his best bud falls. And then it happens… he breaks the no sex with his sisters friends rule and then he repeats and the he dates and then he falls and it is so much fun along the way.  I absolutely adore both Tom and Hailey.  I think you will too.

Broken Honor (HORNET #3) by Tonya Burrows

Blurb:
Ice-cold and unbreakable, Travis Quinn is the HORNET team's hard-ass. No weaknesses. Except, of course, for the accident that not only destroyed his career as a Navy SEAL, but left terrifying blanks in his memory. But Travis remembers everything about Mara Escareno--the curve of her lips, the feel of her body...and how he walked out on her suddenly six weeks ago.

Mara could never resist the dangerously sexy Travis, which is probably how she ended up pregnant and disowned by her family. But before Travis can fully process the news, Mara is kidnapped by his enemies and plunged into the violent, merciless world of human trafficking. They want Travis--and the information locked within his damaged memory--no matter the cost. And now Travis's enemies have discovered his only weakness...Mara.

My review:
Quinn & Mara tore me up in this incredible romantic suspense.  Among all the action and adventure there is true horror and true love.  I will admit that this book made me cry. At first Quinn is an idiot with TBI but when we dig further we find out that there is so much more to the story.  My favorite line in this story is “…Mara your backbone is showing” I was waiting for her to get a spine but she too has her story.  These two damaged souls are perfect together and the ending makes it all worthwhile.

Grizzly Love (Kodiak Point #5) by Eve Langlais

Blurb:
Are you ready for a grizzly kind of love?

His mother would have beaten him to within an inch of his life, if she knew Travis had the hots for the town doctor, but he couldn't help it.

Dr. Jess, a redhead with a few years on him, was his soulmate. His inner grizzly knew it. He knew it. Suspected she did as well. But he did have one dilemma standing in his way.

Her husband.

Talk about inconvenient.

Good thing Travis was tenacious. Even if he has to travel half a continent, and brave some hot sands, subsist on crappy food and survive attempts on his life he won't give up until he wins her heart.

Or dies trying.

Jess made a mistake. She married too young, to the wrong man. Problem is, hawks mate for life, and murder is against the law. To add more insult to the situation, her mate won't even attempt to be a husband. It seems he isn't interested in keeping his vows, nor is he coming home anytime soon, so when the chance arises to confront him, she takes it. However facing him changes nothing.

Freddie doesn't want her...but Travis does.

And oh how she wants him too. Wants and yet can't have him.

However, her marital problems aren't the only issue. Their pursuit of the nefarious being behind the attacks on their town is being sabotaged by treachery. When Jess and Travis barely survive an ambush, she can no longer deny her love for the rascally bear. But will they survive enough to see if it's possible for her to rectify a wrong and take him as her mate?

My review:
I’ve been waiting for this book.  Travis of the ever optimistic personality.  Always quick with a smile and a quip.  Also not too hard on the eyes.  Travis has been a secondary character for too long and I am thrilled he gets to break away from his Momma Bear and find a love of his own – sort of.  Poor Travis, he finally meets the woman of his dreams and she is mated to some jerk who doesn’t want her.  But impossible love aside he has determined that he IS going with the guys when they take on the Naga creature that has been plaguing Kodiak Point no matter what emotional blackmail Momma tries.  He doesn’t count on his lady love Dr. Jess coming too.  This is another fun sexy action adventure with the crazy critters from Kodiak Point.  Get ready to laugh and love. I know I did.

A Club, An Imposter, And A Competition (Deanna Oscar Paranormal Mystery Book 2) by CC Dragon

A Club, An Imposter, And A Competition (Deanna Oscar Paranormal Mystery Book 2) by CC Dragon

Blurb:
Deanna Oscar Paranormal Mystery Book 2
Deanna Oscar and friends are back again--having survived Hurricane Katrina, what could go wrong now? A murder, a visit from her family, and a fake psychic trying to manipulate the vulnerable citizens of New Orleans, to name a few. Add a nosy reporter who pits De against the imposter to solve the murder and De's life is as crazy as ever.
She does her best to avoid publicity while trying to solve the murder and keep her family out of danger. The family wants her back in Chicago where it's safe. De is determined to set down roots in the Big Easy. Boring and average just isn't her style!
NOTE: This book was previously published as I'm Okay, You're A Fake. It has been updated and revised.

My review:
A super fun cozy mystery. De and friends are back! It is just post Katrina and De has put her new career on hold to help put New Orleans back together. She has helped "powers that be" by pointing out the houses with folks that could be rescued and which could be put off till later. The city is starting to come back and it is Deanna's birthday. Mary Jo throws a party for De where De is ambushed by a nosy reporter and a fake psychic and her family has come down from Chicago. Now she is in a competition with fake to find out who killed the owner of the Long and Big Easy drag club and trying to get her family to understand she wants to be where she is doing what she does. I can't wait for future adventures with De and the gang.

Her Lucky Love (Holiday, Montana #4) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:
Brayden Cooper has always been lucky. It's in his blood and in the coin that he has hanging on a leather tie around his neck. He has everything in the world he could ever want: money, a job, brothers he loves, and the luck that comes with his powers. Yet he's empty. Everyone but him knows he loves Allison, yet it's going to take something stronger than luck to bring them together.

Allison Malone is exhausted. After the death of her abusive husband, her hell of a marriage is finally over and now she's alone with her three children that are the center of her world. Long hours at work, plus mommy duty at home are taking its toll on her and that's not the worst of it. Her late husband's family is in town and they want her children.

The outsiders have secrets of their own and it's going to take all of the Coopers, especially Brayden's, help to save them. When trouble attacks, Allison will have to remember that she's also a woman who needs love, and Brayden might be the one to give that to her.

Warning: Contains one sexy mechanic with a lucky streak, a waitress who needs to give into her temptations, and a love so fierce it's bound to set the sheets on fire. Again.

My review:
We have been watching Brayden and Allison dance around each other in the previous books.  Now we get their story and it is really good.  This book has it all; action, adventure, magic and romance. I loved the fact that Allison is a single parent and that Brayden loves both her and the kids.  This is a heck of a read.

Death of a Crafty Knitter by Angela Pepper

Blurb:
After solving a murder, gift shop owner Stormy Day is famous in Misty Falls. Unfortunately, she's still dateless.

When she lets a mysterious fortune teller offer romance advice, Stormy is drawn into a world of deception. When a body shows up, more secrets and lies follow, confounding the investigation.

Even Jeffrey, the mischievous Russian Blue cat, seems puzzled by the Death of the Crafty Knitter. As Stormy races to find the killer, the danger escalates, bringing the amateur sleuth and the cold-blooded killer face-to-face for a startling climax.

My review:
Stormy Day and friends are back and yes there has been a murder.  While this book isn’t as much laugh out loud fun as the first book, DEATH OF A DAPPER SNOWMAN, it is perhaps a better mystery and it is a lot of fun.  The author develops the characters and their relationships to each other a bit better in this book and adds a couple of new ones.  I enjoyed this book as much as the first but for different reasons.  If you like cozy mysteries give Stormy Day a try.

A Ghostly Gift (Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries 1.5) by Angie Fox

Blurb:
From New York Times bestselling author Angie Fox -- a fabulously fun short story in the new Southern Ghost Hunter Mystery series

Verity Long doesn't want to see ghosts, and she'd rather not let anyone know her little secret, either. But when a restless spirit stirs up trouble in her friend's resale shop, Verity and her very new, very dead gangster friend team up to learn what is really happening.

They discover an age-old secret, and must learn the truth behind a mysterious disappearance…before it's too late.

My review:
This short story takes place shortly after the events that take place in Southern Spirits but stands well enough on its own. If you want to know about the furniture or the boyfriend read Southern Spirits. If you want a short, sweet, funny love story that goes to prove that some love stories never end then you want to read this.  I get a kick out of Verity, Vinnie and friends and this short adventure gives you just a taste of what this series is going to be like.  Sign me up.

Tattered Loyalties (Talon Pack #1) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:
When the great war between the Redwoods and the Centrals occurred three decades ago, the Talon Pack risked their lives for the side of good. After tragedy struck, Gideon Brentwood became the Alpha of the Talons. But the Pack’s stability is threatened, and he’s forced to take mate—only the one fate puts in his path is the woman he shouldn’t want.

Though the daughter of the Redwood Pack’s Beta, Brie Jamenson has known peace for most of her life. When she finds the man who could be her mate, she’s shocked to discover Gideon is the Alpha wolf of the Talon Pack. As a submissive, her strength lies in her heart, not her claws. But if her new Pack disagrees or disapproves of fate’s choice, the consequences could be fatal.

As the worlds Brie and Gideon have always known begin to shift, they must face their challenges together in order to help their Pack and seal their bond. But when the Pack is threatened from the inside, Gideon doesn’t know who he can trust and Brie’s life could be forfeit in the crossfire. It will take the strength of an Alpha and the courage of his mate to realize where true loyalties lie.

My review:
Tattered Loyalties is the first in the spin-off from Carrie Ann Ryan’s Redwood Pack series and if you haven’t read those (you should) it won’t lessen the enjoyment of this book as this takes place 30 years later.  I will admit that I didn’t like Gideon very much through the first half of this book.  He lets his responsibilities get in the way of his head and his heart.  I do like the fact that Brie proves that submissive doesn’t mean doormat.  I kept reading because of Brie. I ended up loving them both and looking forward to the next story.  If you want a smart sexy story with werewolves you need to read Carrie Ann Ryan.

A Shadow's Embrace (Indigo Shadows #1) by Cara Carnes

Blurb:
On the run from evil, her only hope is the Shadows.

Devyn James escaped hell once. Kidnapped from foster care at seven and raised in a psychic genetics testing facility, she survived by hiding her ability. A rare technopath, she eventually broke out of the facility with the help of the Shadow Elites—General Conver’s super soldiers, who rebelled and now fought to protect psychically enhanced humans. Determined to help the cause, she formed Indigo Order—a foundation focused on providing food, shelter, medicine, training and support for the displaced lower level psychics, especially the children tossed to the streets by Conver years ago.

For the past few months Devyn, or Indy as she’s known on the street, has covertly passed intel to the SEO. Even though the street doesn’t trust the Shadows, she does. They rescued her once and she knows they’re the only ones who will be able to save her from Conver and figure out what she uncovered.

Dagan is determined to save the female being chased by Conver and his squadron. He soon discovers her identity and vows he’ll do anything to keep her protected—even if it’s from herself. But the sultry female proves to be a handful when her team is in the crosshairs. When one of them is captured, he must prove she can trust him and all he offers, even though he may not believe someone as good as her should be with a Shadow.

Together they discover everything is possible when you trust A Shadow’s Embrace.

My review:
A fantastic start to a fab new UF series. When I picked up this book I thought it was going to be some romantic suspense/UF predictable knock off. I was so wrong, while there are some of those elements the author has kept the best and created rest. This book is filled with action, adventure an some romance. There is something for everyone. This is a kick ass read and I cannot wait for the next adventure.

Days Gone Bad (Vesik #1) by Eric R. Asher

Blurb:
Unabridged audiobook Narrated by William Dufris

My name is Damian Valdis Vesik.
I am a necromancer, an ability feared and hated as much as the powers my master and I set ourselves against.
We've vanquished many evils, but now something is releasing an old darkness, forcing us to hunt an enemy beyond anything I've faced before.
I was already busy enough with vampires, fairies, witches, Watchers, weddings, and...damn, I need a vacation.

My review:
I received a free copy of  this audio book from the author when I met him at Coastal Magic Con.  My husband and I listened to it on the way home and were enthralled.  This story grabbed us from the start. Mr. Asher has built a vivid picture of a world where vampires, fairies, witches, ghosts, Watchers, and others exist side by side with common folk.  His is a world filled with magic and mayhem, humor and love.  William Dufris did a fantastic job of bringing the story to life. This story is not for the weak of heart.  It is often violent and is graphic in its depiction of the violence.  But the story is well worth it and would be diminished without the horror of the violence.  I will most certainly be checking out the further adventures of Damian Valdis Vesik.

Finding Abigail (Holiday, Montana #3) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:
Tyler Cooper is the town sheriff and, in the past, had been the only person keeping Holiday steady. Though the community is now finding out that it’s town is magical, Tyler has always known it—it’s in his blood. He has always known his fate of becoming a cupid, striking love into the hearts others, but an enemy from his past is set on keeping him from finding his own destiny—and love.

Abigail Clarke is leaving Holiday for good. She has to. After years of trying to fit in and make Tyler notice her, she’s giving up. She’s watched her friends fall in love and it’s heartbreaking. Acknowledging that the one man she’s always loved doesn’t want her, it’s time to move on and find her own future.

Right when the stars align and Tyler opens his eyes, his enemy is back and has his sights on Abigail. Abigail is in danger and Tyler may be the only one to stand up to him and save her.

Warning: Contains one sexy sheriff who turns into cupid, complete with bow and arrow, the sweetest teacher you’ll ever meet who needs to find her bad girl side, and a love of candy hearts that’s sure to bring them together.

My review:
Carrie Ann Ryan is a genius!  I am not a big fan of Cupid but I fell for Tyler Cooper in the previous books and really wanted to know how he was to be redeemed. BTW the cover is spot on.  That is exactly how I pictured Tyler.   Finding Abigail is the 3rd in a set of holiday stories and those 279 pages go by really fast. I didn’t know what to expect from this book because I really couldn’t see Tyler in a diaper with arrows etc.  There are no diapers but there are arrows and hardship and love and well no spoilers but just let me say this may be the best Valentines Day story ever.

Alluring Ink (Inked in the Steel City #7) by Ranae Rose

Blurb:
Love is risk. Love is heartbreak. Love is an addiction a single mom like Crystal can’t afford. And accomplished tattoo artist Dylan is a temptation she can’t resist. He’s only in town for a few weeks as a guest artist, but the attraction is instant. With her past shadowing everything she does, it feels good to have someone who doesn’t judge … and doesn’t know.

Love is just the spark before the crash and burn, especially when your demons are something more than standard-issue. Dylan craves Crystal with everything he has, but their days together are supposed to be numbered.

My review:

I adore this series and this book. I recommend reading them all. But I especially encourage you to read Irresistible Ink (Inked in the Steel City #6) before reading this book. In Irresistible Ink we meet James and his sister Crystal and it sets up this book. This book is a bit darker than the previous book in that it deals a recovering addict and the stigma attached to mental health issues. I think this is a fabulous story and an important one.

My review:

I received copies of Pure Copper by Heather Long and Mercurys Poison by Saranna DeWylde (two of the stories in this collection) from the authors for an honest review.  I  LOVED them both and am anxiously awaiting the publication of the book so I can read the rest.
Pure Copper by Heather Long – Copper is hell on wheels. She is the ultimate warrior/spy.  (Think Black Widow with attitude). She has intrigued former CIA analyst Gabriel Danvers from the first time he saw her.  Now he is out of the game but has popped on the radar of her team and she is sent in to check him out.  She wasn’t supposed to fall for him. Love has never been so deadly.  This is a fantastic read from first to last. I’ll admit I wasn’t ready to let them go.
Mercury’s Poison by Saranna DeWylde – Oh my goodness this one will tear your heart out. Mercury is poison even in small doses which is why Dr. John Thrace uses it for his handle.  His face and body bear the scars from when an experiment of his went wrong and seven people lost their lives but most of the scars are in his heart and mind.   John has been stalking Dr. Hazel Brewer as she ministers to the homeless and now his enemies have targeted her to get to him.  Can he save her and in doing so save himself?  This story tore me up.  I hurt so much for the both of them. That just made the ending that much sweeter.

The book downloaded on my Kindle yesterday and I spent all day reading these fantastic romantic suspense stories.  I couldn’t/wouldn’t put it down.  The guys and gals in this collection drew me in and wouldn’t let me go until the end and then they hinted that there may be more.  I do hope so.  These talented authors each wrote a fantastic story about their assigned character, included the other characters and still each story will stand alone.  These men and women made me laugh, cry, growl, and sigh.

My Blood Runs Blue was originally released in 2011. This 2014 version has been revised and re-edited.

My review:
My Blood Runs Blue is a story told by three different viewpoints; not usually my favorite story form but the author does a fairly good job of keeping on point without too much repetition.  I liked the characters and was thrilled that Kristin chose the guy she does.  The author leaves a lot of open ends for the next book (which she has updated and is being re-released) or books.  The author writes knowingly of police procedure and Kristin is my favorite type of character a strong smart woman.  Give this book a shot I think you will be glad you did.

If Charlotte intends to survive this battle of wits and hearts, the mouse will have to learn to wrangle the T-Rex. Game on.
