Secrets and Sins: Raphael (A Secrets and Sins Novel #3) by Naima Simone - Review & Contest

When Greer Addison finds her future husband in bed with another woman, she runs…right into the arms of dark and dangerous Raphael Marcel. Angry and hurt, she throws caution to the wind and spends a hot night with the sexy security specialist. But when her fiancé is found dead, Greer becomes the main suspect of a crime she can’t remember.

Raphael is stunned and suspicious when Greer shows up on his doorstep claiming she’s carrying his baby. Worse, she’s the target of a stalker bent on making her pay for a murder she doesn’t recall. As Raphael begins to trust Greer, they must race against the clock to uncover a killer.
Because Greer’s memory is returning...

My review:
This is more than a case of a one night stand between an uptown girl and a boy from the wrong side of the tracks made good.  Someone is stalking her and they are escalating.  Greer runs to Rafe and whether he believes her or not about the baby he will protect her.
This is always a fun trope.  Add in the wonderful mystery and super sexy hero and I’m all in.  I really enjoyed watching Greer grow. She loses some of her naiveté but gains self-assurance.
Although this is the third in the series it can be read stand alone.  The author gives you what you need to know from the past books and just enough tease to make you want to run out and buy them (Secrets and Sins: Gabriel and Secrets and Sins: Malachim).

Stop Dragon My Heart Around by Susannah Scott - Review & Contest

Lucky Leprechaun underwear ironed? Check.

Gold plated hearing aids? Check.

Pink doggy booties, times four? Check.

Tee is Vegas's favorite casino hostess, ready to grant her high rollers their every quirky wish. But when her own wish to financially help her Paiute Tribe finally comes true, she decides to double-down with lady luck and go for a hot hook-up with her sexy boss, Leo. Unfortunately, Tees about to find out why their romance is such a long shot—Leo is a shape-shifting dragon.

Leo needs a proper dragon mate to save his waning dragon form, and despite their magnetic sexual attraction, he knows Tee is anything but proper—or a dragon. But when threats arise from Tee's tribe, Leos protective instincts kick in. Can he give up his dragon form for the woman he loves—even if it means shortening his life? Or has Tee finally had enough of having her heart dragged around?

My review:
This takes place in the same world as Luck of the Dragon but can be read stand alone.  What happens in Vegas… doesn’t hold true if you live and work there.  Leo loves Tee and she loves him but he is her boss and unbeknownst to her a dragon shifter.  He is torn between wanting Tee and waiting to find his dragon mate.  So they have this push me pull you relationship until Tee’s world is turned upside down and Leo introduces her to his dragon.  Action, adventure, mystery and a whole lot of Vegas silliness.  There is a great supporting cast and I hope to read their stories soon.

Dreamer (The Chosen) by Ann Mayburn

Arrogant, powerful and dangerous, Devon King is one of the world's greatest warriors. Yet even he is helpless against the evil that is stalking the children of Washington DC. When the gods assign him to protect Shan Harrison, he can't believe that the beautiful and spirited Goth girl is the key to defeating the nightmares that haunt the city. Shan has the potential to become one of the strongest dreamers in history, if she can survive long enough to come into her full powers. Devon is used to getting what he wants and he wants Shan. Her submissive nature, hidden beneath her tough exterior, calls to the dominant side of his nature like a siren’s song.

Ashamed of her cravings, Shan fights her attraction to Devon and tries to convince herself that what they have is only physical. The servants of evil use her insecurity and self-doubt to try to tear Shan and Devon apart. If Shan doesn't learn to accept her desires and Devon's love, darkness will triumph and everyone she holds dear will be destroyed by terrifying nightmares come to life.

My review:
I love this series!  Ann Mayburn has created a world where magic is real and the old gods are back.  She mixes pantheons and it only adds to the fun.  The battle between Good & Evil/Creation/Destruction is in full swing and the Gods are picking their Chosen to assist in the battle.  Shan is a kick ass.  She may be a natural submissive but she is no cringing mouse.  She is small but she doesn’t let the much bigger Devon just walk all over her.  He wants her he is going to have to prove to her that she can trust him with her surrender and she isn’t going to make it easy for him besides there are some seriously twisted bad guys after her.
This is such a fun world.  I love visiting and hope Ms. Mayburn returns us here often.

My review:
FANTASTIC! I am a huge fan of Emma Holly but this may be the best thing she has written to date.  This is the first in an epic tale of romantic fantasy.  Fast paced with twists, turns and surprises you would not expect.  Oh my goodness this is an incredible tale.  I am so excited and cannot wait to see where she will take us next.

Otherwise Engaged (Ladies of Lantern Street #3) by Amanda Quick

Miss Amity Doncaster, world traveler, is accustomed to adventure and risk. Benedict Stanbridge, a man of science and a spy for the Crown, has faced danger in the darker corners of foreign lands.

But they are about to face a threat that is shockingly close to home . . .

One does not expect to be kidnapped on a London street in broad daylight. But Amity Doncaster barely escapes with her life after she is trapped in a carriage with a blade-wielding man in a black silk mask who whispers the most vile taunts and threats into her ear. Her quick thinking, and her secret weapon, save her . . . for now.

But the monster known in the press as the Bridegroom, who has left a trail of female victims in his wake, has survived the wounds she inflicts and will soon be on his feet again. He is unwholesomely obsessed by her scandalous connection to Benedict Stanbridge—gossip about their hours alone in a ship’s stateroom seems to have crossed the Atlantic faster than any sailing vessel could. Benedict refuses to let this resourceful, daring woman suffer for her romantic link to him—as tenuous as it may be.

For a man and woman so skilled at disappearing, so at home in the exotic reaches of the globe, escape is always an option. But each intends to end the Bridegroom’s reign of terror in London, and will join forces to do so. And as they prepare to confront an unbalanced criminal in the heart of the city they love, they must also face feelings that neither of them can run away from. . .

My review:
No paranormal just a fun romantic mystery.  Classic Amanda Quick (JAK).  Smart, witty, curious woman meets nerdy hunk doing a favor for his uncle a spymaster for the crown.  Oh and then there is the Jack the Ripper type madman.  Fun, fun, fun.

My review:

It is hard to keep a series fresh and new but Carrie Ann Ryan does it in this latest installment of Dante's Circle.  This time we get to see Dante fall.  Finally we find out why he has been avoiding Nadie.  We find out what supernatural being she turns into when they finally mate.  Like the others in this series it is chock full of action, adventure and lots of smoking hot sex.

Yes, she read as a kid and devoured teen fiction and Harry Potter, but it wasn’t until someone handed her a romance book in her late teens that she realized that there was something out there just for her. The last person True Maybank expected to run into while picking up her wedding gown was country music superstar Harrison Gamble. Years ago, when they were small-town teens in Biscuit Creek, South Carolina, they shared a forbidden night of passion. Now that she’s about to settle down, True’s love affair with the handsome crooner is a thing of the past. Or is it? From the moment he says hello, she has to fight swooning like an adoring fan.

My Review:
This is a sweet second chance romance.  Southern Deb in love with the boy from the wrong side of the tracks who has grown up and made good.   Living in the south I’ve met women like True and could really relate to her.  I loved the secondary characters almost as much.  This is an escape as sweet as southern tea.

My review:
A romantic thrill ride from start to finish.  This may just be the best in this series to date.  Tanner & Jin will pull you in and keep you guessing from page 1.  This story will take you to parts unknown and then bring you home again.  More secrets are revealed and new mysteries crop up.  A fabulous addition to this terrific series.

Captive of Pleasure: The Space Pirates Woman (LodeStar #3) by Cathryn Cade

Can a woman with no memory inspire a man who is running from his?

As Il Zhazid, ‘The Storm’, he rules the unsettled prairies of Frontiera, striking ruthlessly at other pirates who dare to enter his territory. Only a few know him as Joran Stark, a man who desires only to live wild and free with his loyal band. Women love him, other pirates fear him and the InterGalactic Space Forces can’t control him.

Zaë is young, lovely and terrified—a slave paraded before the scum of the galaxy to be sold to the highest bidder. Storm interrupts a lucrative raid to save her, only to discover he can’t send her home, because she has no memory of who she is or where she came from. Now he must battle ever-bolder pirates who want his territory and the IGSF officials who want to use him, all with her close by his side.

The last thing he ever wanted to be was a hero, but can this damaged woman inspire him to be the man she believes him to be? And within the shelter of his powerful arms, can she finally believe in herself?

My review:
Fantastically fun space pirate adventure.  Joran Stark is over the top as Il Zhazid, ‘The Storm’.  He may be a space pirate but he only steals from other bad guys making him not so bad.  It is during one of those raids that he rescues the beautiful virgin from a slave auction.  She has been drugged so has no idea who she is so he is kinda stuck with her.  Good guys, bad guys the line gets blurred at times.  But it’s a hell of a ride.

Naughty Bits Part I: The Lingerie Shop(Naughty Bits #1) by Joey W. Hill

Madison is a control freak with one wish—to lose control. Her hidden submissive cravings have led to a string of disastrous relationships. So when she inherits her sister’s North Carolina lingerie shop, Naughty Bits, she jumps at the opportunity to dump her boring finance career and bad history and try her luck down South.

But before Madison can settle in, she catches the attention of the owner of the neighboring hardware store. Sexually dominant Logan Scott can see the hunger for command in Madison’s eyes and is anxious to help unleash her submissive desires. He presents her with three very tempting gifts—handcuffs, erotic cards, and an open invitation to join him at a submissive’s training session.

Faced with the realization that she can’t sell fantasies to her lingerie customers without embracing her own, Madison accepts Logan’s offer. Now, she’s about to discover just how far her desire can take her…

My Review:
This is the first in a sensuously erotic serial by the fabulous Joey W. Hill.  Although I am not a fan of the format I am a huge fan of the author so I gave this a try. The story so far revolves around Madison a “type A” personality who has entered a life altering situation by moving, taking over her recently deceased sisters lingerie shop and shaking her control. This is the set up for the rest of the serial.  I am anxiously awaiting the next installment as I know that with this set up it will only get better from here.

Angus (The Cursed Clan #2) by Melissa Schroeder - Review

A man who only believes in fact.

Even after everything the Clan has endured, Angus has always held onto his scientific leanings. He isn’t a believer of instant attraction, so, he is surprised by the force of his attraction to Irishwoman Maggie O’Conner. He doesn’t trust her, but she soon become an obsession he can’t seem to shake.

A woman who defies every logic.

Single mother Maggie comes from a long line of magickal women, but she walked away from that part of her life. When Angus bursts into her life, she tries to ignore the handsome Scot, but soon finds that she needs his protection. She knows he’s not normal, but she never expected him to be the one man who could capture her heart.

A need they could not deny.

As they work together, their need for each other threatens to consume them both. But just as they close in on the next jewel, a new enemy emerges and puts everything they hold dear into jeopardy.

My review:
This isn’t a case of opposites attracting as they have more in common than Angus would like to admit.  I really liked the characters of Maggie and Jack.  Melissa Schroeder has a gift for putting characters in stressful situations and having them come out better and stronger together.  And though Angus isn’t the McLennan my heart goes pitty pat for he is one fine Scot.

Hunter’s dark past takes over their courtship, and just when he thinks all his lost, he’ll find that Becca’s more than he—or she—ever thought.

My Review:

Carrie Ann Ryan has created a world filled with sexy supernatural and the changed humans that love them.  These three books cover the first 3 of 7 women who were hit by a bolt of lightning that will activate the magical portion of their DNA as they meet their true mates.  Action, adventure, magic and hot sex what more could you ask for?

Werewolf in Las Vegas (Wild About You #6) by Vicki Lewis Thompson

Win it all, or lose it all

Giselle Landry is in Las Vegas to haul her wayward brother back home. But casino owner Luke Dalton is also looking for her brother, who has run off with his little sister. The two should join forces, but Luke is unaware that Giselle’s brother is also fleeing his duties as the future alpha of the Landry werewolf pack—which includes his Were bride.

The Landrys don’t believe in Weres mating with humans, and Giselle is no exception. Though Luke is wealthy, gorgeous, and protective, Giselle can’t let herself get close to him, even to solve their shared dilemma. But the tension wears away her resistance, and after a wild night with Luke, she is shocked to find she’s fallen for him.

But Luke still doesn’t know Giselle’s true identity. And once their siblings are found, Giselle must return to San Francisco. Can they overcome the odds—or will what happened in Vegas stay in Vegas?

My review:
This is a fun loosely connected series.  This is romance with a subtle underlying positive message.  In this book it is about letting your loved ones be who they are not what you think they need to be.  It is also about letting go of preconceived notions of what should be and allowing yourself to just be.  I get a kick out of Ms. Thompson’s world and love visiting each and every time.

The Home Court Advantage (Lawyers in Love#2) by N.M. Silber

Once upon a time, two lawyers fell in love across a courtroom ... Gabrielle and Braden have fallen in love and face a bright future together if they can just survive all of the crazy people they encounter, like anonymous napkin droppers, UFO enthusiasts, crooked businessmen, nude drunk drivers, and a woman who tries to break into jail. When the gavel falls will the verdict be happily ever after? Come join the fun as the sexiest couple in the Philadelphia Criminal Court System shares more witty banter and red hot lovin' with a dash of mystery thrown in. The story that began with The Law of Attraction concludes with lots of love and laughter in The Home Court Advantage.

My review:
Gabrielle and Braden hotter and more hilarious than the first book.  Gabrielle and Braden are falling faster and deeper into love.  However real life (or as real as the insanity that surrounds them can be) keeps throwing new and increasingly funny obstacles in their way.  Will they ever find out who is stalking Gabrielle and why?  Will Cam and Jess ever hook up?  Just what is going on with Adam and Lily?  Will Mark and Drew ever get a girlfriend?  Is the meeting between Gabrielle and Braden’s families the signal for WWIII?  The answers to some of these questions can be found in The Home Court Advantage.

Branded by Tilly Greene

Montana is Sizzling! There are four cowboys who work hard and play even harder. They like their sex to be fun, dirty hot and gratifying. Whether the passion happens in a barn, shack, field or bedroom, with their partners bound and played with or taken vanilla style, everyone leaves satisfied. Love isn't something they've thought about until they meet the women who make their hearts beat faster. They know they want to be loved by their ladies as they tie them up, play and pleasure them, but they also believe there is much more they don't know and are willing to learn. Matt and Ted Wilson, Jon Black and Courtland Dickerson are best friends, have been since childhood. Finally, these cowboys have found love and are enjoying kinky sex behind white picket fences they always wanted. They couldn't be happier, but are they ready to fully commit to one woman? WARNING: Inside this book there's bondage play with toys, piercings and a tattoo, menages, wait, did I mention toys? Prepare yourself for a red hot read!

My review:
Tilly Greene must think that Montana cowboys have nothing better to do through the long cold winter nights than to think up ways to have kinky cowboy sex with their ladies.  Branded tells four stories of what they may have come up with.  Three of these stories, Konnichiwa Cowboy, Giddy up, and Jon Black's Woman have been sold stand-alone and the fourth is a follow up featuring Sunflower Forever Free and Courtland Dickerson from Ride 'em
Konnichiwa Cowboy and Giddy up tell how Sakura Nakamura and the Wilson brothers come together in love, lust and cattle ranching.  Jon Black's Woman tells how big tall tough Jon Black falls for little ol’ Molly.  A Wild Ride may be the only new story in the book but oh my goodness what a ride.  Cort & Sunflower have been together for two years and their sex life is still adventurous.  When Cort brings home a new toy it will test just how close they are.
These stories are for the adventurous.  They are tales of multicultural cowboy kink and will take you places you never thought to go.

Angus (The Cursed Clan series #2) by Melissa Schroeder

But he was waiting for her to do something so she did the one thing she could think of. She rose to her tiptoes and brushed her mouth over his cheek. When she pulled back, he had a stunned look on his face. She started to feel weird standing there.

“Uh, okay. Goodnight.”

“Is that what that was? A goodnight kiss?” he asked. There was something else in his voice. The affable tone had dissolved and there was an edge to it that caused her to curl her toes.

“It was to thank you for the tea.”

“And dragging you across the world and putting you and your son in danger?”
“You know, men can never be happy. I was nice enough to let that go and thank you but no, you have to complain that I kissed you back.”

“So it wasn’t a goodnight kiss?”

She rolled her eyes. “No.”

Then, he grabbed her right hand and yanked her forward. Before she knew what was happening, his mouth was pressing against hers. A burst of heat swirled in her belly as she tried to think of something, anything. Before she could, he was stepping back. Her head was still whirling, and she was gasping for breath. He was standing there as if he hadn’t done anything.

“What the bloody hell was that?”

He smiled. “A goodnight kiss.”

Then, he turned and ambled down the hall as if he hadn’t just turned her world upside down.
