Wicked Beauty: Wicked Inked duet, Book 1 by Candace Blevins

Blurb:

Gavin has perfected the art of being terrifying. His value to Zander lies in his being the junkyard dog — the vampire who doesn’t merely kill their enemies, but does so in a spectacular fashion.

Love isn’t for people like him. Even if he could somehow manage to feel the emotion, it wouldn’t be for him.

My review:

Gavin is an ancient vampire. He is an enforcer and very good at his job. He is the boogeyman. He doesn’t do love. This book lets us get to know why. When he finds someone who stirs his heart it is going to take all of his considerable skills to prove he is worthy of her love.

This book offers an incredible look into Gavin’s past. The author has taken a problematic side character and offered him redemption. This book is part of a duet which means waiting till the next book for answers. I can’t wait.

This book sucked me in and didn’t let me go till long after the last page.

Daddy's Sensing (ABC Towers) by Pepper North

Blurb:

His damaged vision won’t keep this Daddy from sensing when she enters his life.

After losing part of his eyesight in a freak accident, Tim Simmons is ready to rebuild his life. With a skilled guide dog by his side and a new job at Edgewater Industries, he’s got almost everything he needs. And the Little Girl his heart has always desired? It turns out he’s found her, too.

The ambitious Aspen Sullivan is ready to take her career as an administrative assistant to the next level, so she jumps at the chance to work with the new Chief Supply Officer. She never expects to feel the dominant force that she’s fantasized about for years, but suddenly she must decide if she can be brave enough to open her heart to a real life Daddy.

My review:

Daddy's Sensing introduces us to Tim Simmons a man who lost his sight and the job he’d given his all to. He is now starting over as Chief Supply Officer at Edgewater Industries. He feels valued there despite his blindness. I loved watching him find happiness and love. I enjoyed visiting with the characters I’ve come to love at ABC Towers.

When Harry Met Sal by Ryan Field

Blurb:

When Harry Beckham's best friend asks him to drive her new, casual boyfriend, Sal Sorentino, from California to New York, Harry never expected they'd wind up as lovers their first night on the road. Harry just assumes that Sal is straight, and Harry already has a boyfriend of his own back in San Francisco.

But when Sal explains that he's bisexual and that he's extremely attracted to Harry, everything changes. Harry tries to resist the mutual attraction, but all it takes is one simple kiss and they both wind up having the best sex of their lives on a cross country road trip.

When they reach New York, they agree to go their separate ways and forget about each other. Harry becomes a well known designer who does national talk shows, and Sal becomes a professional poker player who lives in a mansion and owns a pet pig named Dolly. And by the time they meet up again seven years later, their lives have changed completely.

But that doesn't stop the passionate physical connection between them from surfacing again. Though all the odds seem to be against them, their physical relationship evolves into mutual love and respect. And this unyielding love they feel for each other turns out to be stronger than anything they could have imagined.

My review:

When Harry Met Sal is a m/m retelling of When Harry Met Sally (one of my favorite movies). I really had high hopes for this story but found the characters less than loveable. The author wasn’t able to capture the charm and wit of the original. I stuck with it and the ending redeemed the tale.

Familiar Magic and a Dead Wolf (Howling Creek Paranormal Cozy Mysteries Book 1) by Lia Davis

Familiar Magic and a Dead Wolf (Howling Creek Paranormal Cozy Mysteries Book 1) by Lia Davis

Blurb:

Howling Creek’s favorite local forest ranger is no ordinary human, but she still masquerades as one. Just because she was born a witch doesn’t exactly make Lexie all that powerful. After all, most witches have magic they can actually control, but Lexie’s powers have been broken for as long as she can remember. Her gifts only show up on their own terms—usually unannounced—at the most inconvenient of times. Things have gotten so bad that Lexie’s new familiar was compelled to take all her magic away.

Temporarily, of course.

Fortunately for Lexie, her day job doesn’t require much supernatural skill. Working at The Ancients Agency doing forest patrol means she just has to watch for signs that the resident shifters are misbehaving. Keeping the wolf packs and leopard pride under control is well above her pay grade.

Which is honestly for the best considering that one of the wolf shifters just turned up dead.

When Lexie’s supervisor tasks her with leading in the murder investigation, this would-be-witch finds herself face-to-face with Kellen Rich. As the Alpha of the Howlers Wolf Pack, he wants vengeance for his fallen pack member, and the crime is jeopardizing his attempts to forge a peace treaty with the rival wolf pack, the Dark Fangs.

Irresistibly handsome but extremely aloof, Kellen gives Lexie a few leads and a lot of interesting feelings. But she can’t afford to worry about a crush when she’s working to get her magic back all while hunting a killer. As the most cursed member of the coven, does she have what it takes to administer justice and keep the wolves from going to war?

My review:

Lexie is from a family of strong witches yet her magic is wonky at best. She gets by doing things the mundane way using her hands and her brain. She is used to feeling less than but she does her best. When she finds a dead werewolf she is assigned as lead investigator. This is as big a challenge as her magic.

This is a delightful cozy and a tale of learning to believe in yourself. I look forward to watching Lexie come into her own.

Elizabeth Annalise Milford's family doesn't understand her dedication to organic foods or her desire to provide the community with healthy, delicious meals. Little Pest (Once Upon a Bite Book 1) by Charity Parkerson

Blurb:

Draco is the oldest vamp around. Tate is the newest and possibly the most annoying. They’re the perfect pair.

As one of the oldest living vampires, Draco has seen a lot of history. He’s also extremely powerful. With that power comes an allure that draws younger supernaturals to him like flies, hoping for a taste of his… expertise. Draco wants none of that. He lives a quiet life as a magician at a casino in Vegas. It’s a fun gig for a retired vamp with no real responsibilities left to his name. Then Tate flies into his life. Now nothing is the same.

Tate is a little hapless. He’s a little everything, actually. In fact, that pretty much sums up his personality. He’s a Little. At least, he was before some dude bit him in a nightclub and now Tate is stronger than ten men, can control minds, and turn into a bat. He has no clue how he’s doing any of that. No one taught him how to be a vampire. In fact, he doesn’t know how to survive. Without Draco’s help, he won’t. If it means Tate has to make a pest of himself to get Draco to notice him and teach him the how tos of his new life, then so be it. Falling in love, that was just another one of Tate’s little mistakes, but it might be his best one yet.

Little Pest is a short, fun paranormal romp meant to lighten your day.

My review;

Little Pest is an adorable romp that had me smiling throughout. I love that Tate fought for what he wanted and gave Draco a reason to smile. I am so looking forward to the next in this series.

Mad Boys (Blue Ivy Prep #2) by Heather Long

Blurb:

The pop princess with her bright blue hair, pouty lips, haunting eyes, and the voice of a siren… She’s always been too busy for us. Music seems to be the one language we both speak.

It’s not enough. For her. For them. For anyone.

I’m not enough.

My brothers want her, the world owns her, and everyone else is vying for a piece of her. At the end of the school year, she walked away and didn’t give us a second look. Discarding us like she had her father.

Now, I can’t decide what I want more—for her to come back or to never see her again.

*Please note this is a reverse harem and the author suggests you always read the forward in her books. Contains some bullying elements, mature situations, and is recommended for 17+. This is book two of four in a series and the story will continue through future books.

My review:

KC’s life has been a rollercoaster ride from day one. She is on a downhill run with loops and rolls. This book shares a crazy year in the life and it would have taken out a lesser being. I truly cannot wait for the next book because Lord of Mercy it has to get better for her.

My review:

May and Leo. May is the champion of failed first dates. Leo has a rep as a good time guy who never gets serious.  May puts him off his game. He can’t stop thinking of her. These two may just be the best thing that happened to each other.

Legally Bound (Masters of Marquis #5) by Golden Angel

Blurb:

Their desire is real, but it's going on trial...

After one unforgettable night with the Domme of his dreams, Freddy knows he wants more. Camille is beautiful, bold, and the right amount of bossy. She also wants more from Freddy, too. But before the pair can reconnect at the club, they find each other in the last place either expect: at the negotiating table of a nasty divorce case, representing opposing clients.

Legally bound to put their clients' interests first, Freddy and Camille must resist the temptation of their undeniable chemistry before it derails their careers. Pitted against each other by their very different clients, these two high-powered attorneys will struggle to make it to the end of the divorce with their desire unharmed. Can they navigate the mess they've made, or will the case for more nights at the club get dismissed?

My review:

Freddy is a fan favorite. Perpetually single, bi service sub Freddy always has an ear and a shoulder for those who should need it. He is happy for his friends who have found their happiness he just wishes he could find his.

Camille has put everything aside to care for her ill mother. She is working long hours at a soul sucking job and hasn’t done anything for herself in a long time.

When Camille and Freddy meet you can feel the chemistry. I was thrilled for Freddy. Watching Camille find a balance in her life was uplifting. This story had me smiling and rooting for them both.

Though this is part of a series it can be read standalone.

Misha Rasputin has put the past behind her, having served centuries to save her village from Pesta, the Black Death—and then the past walks into her pet store.

For almost seven centuries, Misha, trapped the body of a twenty-seven-year-old, served her time as the being responsible for guiding souls from this life to the next. She sacrificed everything to save her small village: her family, her life, and her forever love. With her time as a grim reaper over, she merely wants to live out the rest of her existence in Black Hollow, shutting out the pain of the past. So far, she’s managed to accomplish just that. And then Carson Reed walks into her store.

Carson tries to convince her that he’s the love she’s been waiting for, and it looks as if she’s about to surrender to his seduction when another grim reaper appears to claim Carson’s soul.

With her future with Carson threatened, Misha has a difficult choice to make: watch the love of her life be ripped away from her again, or reach out to Pesta to make another deal, one that might cost Misha her very soul.

My review:

A love for the ages. Misha has mourned her lost love for seven hundred years or so. Now Carson walks into her store claiming to be the reincarnation of her lost love.

I loved this fast paced romantic mystery. It will leave you with a happy heart.

My review:

Rafferty and Dahlia are incendiary together. This one is smoking from the start.

Stitched Under Fire (Paranormal Investigative Service #2) by Cassidy K. O'Connor & Sheri Lyn

Stitched Under Fire (Paranormal Investigative Service #2) by Cassidy K. O'Connor & Sheri Lyn

Blurb:

Paranormals left for dead, parts of them missing. When bodies start piling up, the agents of Paranormal Investigative Service quickly realize the killings aren’t random and they are escalating.

Life is never dull as an agent of P.I.S. but Tristan James didn’t expect his fourth week as a newly turned phoenix shifter and federal agent to be spent hunting for the person who was dissecting paranormals. If that weren’t enough, he was also moving in with Maddox, his partner at P.I.S. and he had it bad for him.

Maddox Smith was going monogamous. If that weren’t shocking enough, Tristan was also moving in with him. Add to that the man of his dreams was still getting used to being a shifter and getting over old prejudices about their kind. Taking it slow was never in Maddox’s vocabulary before, but Tristan was worth the wait. A new case was exactly the distraction he needed.

They have to work quickly to stitch the pieces together if they want to stop the madman hurting their kind
.

My review:

I LOVE THIS SERIES! The first book had human cop Tristan becoming a phoenix and learning about the paranormal side of the world and working with his new partner the hot ogre/fae man-whore Maddox. In this book Tristan and Maddox take their relationship outside the office to a new level while trying to find out who is harvesting organs from various paranormals.

The banter between Tristan and Maddox is hilarious. This is one heck of a paranormal cop buddy/medical crime drama that I absolutely loved.
