Ouch

I was in a car accident and have a broken collarbone that requires surgery.  I've been on pain medication that has kept me from being able to read.  Surgery takes place on Wednesday June 29th.  I will hopefully be able to read soon.

Thanks for your patience.

*****
Savannah Run is the action-packed first book in the Protecting Love series of standalone HEA romantic suspense novels. Expect tangled sheets, car chases, and perilous rescues. A protective hero and a bold heroine flee cross country from a hired killer.

My review:

Another winner that’s been languishing on my tbr pile for far too long. Leia is a young woman with a strong sense of right and wrong. When she finds herself working for a company that launders money for the worst of the worst she knows she has to do something.

Eric is a Fixer and it pays well. When his former account asks for help he reluctantly agrees.

These two have lessons to be learned from each other.

This is a fast paced, energetic romantic suspense that uplift and ensconce you into a dark world that most never see.

Farewells and Forever (Untouchable #12) by Heather Long

Blurb:

Beautiful, I love you. No ands, ifs, or buts. No beating around the bush. Will you marry me?

From the first proposal on the playground when we were five to the one two weeks ago, Coop has always been there for me.

Baby Girl, the only thing I’ve ever wanted is you. Forever.

Protector. Best friend. Lover. Jake’s a part of me in a way I can’t define. Even when we were apart, I knew we would find each other.

This is my love song for you, Angel.

Music is Ian’s love language. He doesn’t just wrap me up to keep me safe from the world, he pulled me into his. He shared his love and the knots that bind our hearts are beyond anything I could have imagined.

From the day I met you—you were the one, Babe. The only one.

Archie’s my hero in some ways, he pushes and he demands. At the same time, he savors and teases. He’s a builder and a fixer. I had no idea that the day he arrived was the day the last piece missing in my world would lock into place.

Marry us.

My name is Frankie Curtis, the four men I love more than anything else in this world want me to marry them. They want forever.

They want me.

*Please note this is a reverse harem and the author suggests you always read the forward in her books. Contains some bullying elements, mature situations, violence, and is recommended for 17+. This is the twelfth and final book in the Untouchable series.

My review:

WOW! I hate reading the last book in a series but I really needed this story. Frankie and her guys have been run through a grinder and deserve their happily ever after. I absolutely LOVED this book. The author wrapped up any lingering questions and most importantly left us with hope for the future. This series has been an emotional rollercoaster and I can’t recommend it enough. Well done.

The Cheeky Prince: Magic and Mayhem Universe (Chronicles of the Veil Book 3) by Julie Morgan

Blurb:

The day I took my life back I was able to see the damage my lunatic aunt had caused, and my only ally was my purple chicken, Harriet. I’m the prince of the Dark Fae kingdom, yet, my people treat me as if I’m an outsider. I can’t say as I blame them. Imagine being locked in your own mind and someone tosses in a stink bomb from an Ogre. You’d fight like hell to escape, too.

Then there’s the woman I knew to be my true fated mate, Shyla Olsen. She fought to save me until the day I had her banished from the kingdom… but it wasn’t me, not really. It was my aunt pulling the strings and I was nothing more than her marionette. But I’m no longer a shiny puppet and dammit, I’m no doll to toy with.

And now my psychotic cousin has come to town. If he has his way, the kingdom will be his. I have to put an end to his scheme and with Shyla by my side, nothing can stop us.

Except her heart… if she’ll forgive me and become my wife.

My review:

In this installment Theo gets his happy but boy does he have to work for it. Each installment can be read standalone, but you’ll get so much more out of the story if you’ve read the earlier books.

Dark Fae Prince Theo has been under a curse that has had him acting like a total ass to everyone around him. We thought it had been broken but traces linger. Now his cousin has come to town threatening his throne. Can Theo ditch the curse, defeat his cousin, keep the throne, and most importantly get the girl? This fun romp will have you laughing in no time and keep you on edge till the end.

Arcane Chaos (Arcane Shot #4) by Joey W. Hill

Blurb:

When Death pays a visit to Ramona’s shop, it seems only polite to invite him in. Particularly when he has intense green eyes and can kiss like that…

A Grim Reaper knows how and when every living thing will die. But Silas can’t see Ramona’s death. It’s one of many reasons the Chaos witch intrigues him. But when a dire threat to a single soul calls him away, it reveals something is out to destroy the order of life and death in the world. The only one who might be able to help him untangle the snarl of Fates’ loom might be the woman whose power—the very make of her soul—is the antithesis of order.

If they survive the evil that wants to destroy everything that matters to them both, Ramona wonders if she’s finally found the male who won’t run from who and what she is. Suddenly the term “Death is the only certainty in life,” isn’t a threat—it’s a promise.

My review:

This is a deep multi-layered tale of love, life and death. This book took me awhile to get through as there were sections that threw me into a space where I said woah and had to think on the revelations. The erotic journey between Silas and Ramona is the least of the story but a truly enjoyable part of it. This is a book I shall re-read often and I’m sure I’ll get something new each time.

Samael (Speed Dating with the Denizens of the Underworld #4) by Julie Morgan

Blurb:

When the Prince of Hell finally meets his match, it’s no longer about collecting sin…

Samael has everything he needs at the snap of his fingers. As the owner of a Den of Sin, he offers desires fit for every person in the world. Those who come in never leave the same. But what happens if he has desires of his own?

Isabella Wallace relocated to LA just over a year ago. She started a new job, and began life with a fresh vivacity. When she is offered a chance at a speed dating mingle at DeLux Café, she’s hesitant at first. Determined to have a good time at this mingle, she doesn’t count on being attacked on her way there and dragged into an alley. She suspects she’s about to die, but what she doesn’t expect is to fall into the arms of a beautiful stranger.

My review:

Samael is a Prince of Hell who lives a debauched life of sex and sin. He has no problems collecting souls for Lucifer. He was hanging outside a gambling den when he witnesses when he sees a damsel in distress. Normally he would let things play out but something about her calls to him so he steps in and thus starts the story of Samael and Isabella.

This is a fast-paced steamy story of a demon and an innocent. Break out the ice water cause this one is hot!

Wolf in the Night by N.J. Walters

Blurb:

Driving home from a trip, Emma Matheson is run off the road in an abduction attempt. Seems the alpha of her father’s former pack never forgave his defection. To settle the old score, he plans to force her to mate with a male of his choosing—his son, Dmitri.

Dmitri Gribkov wants no part of his father’s revenge. A loner by choice, nothing has prepared him for sexy, stubborn Emma. He’ll do whatever it takes to protect her—even if it means losing her.

Tracking and killing are what he does best. Before this is over, he’ll have blood on his hands, but winning her love will be the hardest battle.

My review:

This is a spin off from the authors Salvation Pack series.

Romeo and Juliette have nothing on Emma and Dmitri. Dmitri wants no part of his fathers’ revenge against Emmas’ father. When the two meet Dmitri knows there is nothing his father can say or do to make him hurt her or her family. Through Emma he learns what family is supposed to be.

This is a sweet and sassy tale of a young woman determined to be seen and a man determined not to be judged by the actions of his father.

Redeeming a Tarnished Lord (Thieves of the Ton #6.8) by Sandra Sookoo

 Blurb:

Fighting against circumstances can usher in the greatest freedom.

Peter Sammerson, Viscount Bingham, is a man tortured by his past. No matter that he wishes the beau monde would forget what he’s done, he can’t, and for that there’s no peace, and definitely no future. During a walk to a friend’s townhouse, he has a heated exchange in the rain with an interesting woman who might change his mind about wanting to avoid the ton altogether.

Miss Katherine Davies is in London to attend her sister’s wedding. Confined to a Bath chair due to an accident that left her lower half paralyzed, she still has her independence. A chance encounter with one of London’s most scandalous rakes leaves her incensed, but the secrets in his eyes intrigues her and makes her wonder. Yet England’s upper crust demands nothing less than perfection, and she is most certainly not.

Despite the chaos from their initial meeting, Peter recognizes a kindred spirit, but he’s terrified that when she hears of his terrible past, she’ll hate him. While Kate begins to learn about the broken man, her emotions are engaged, yet does he view her as a whole woman? Acceptance, heat, and friendship springs between them, and if fate is kind, two rejects from society might find something more valuable than either of them had ever hoped for.

My review:

Though this story takes place in the past it could be ripped from our very current headlines. Our hero has messed up in the past – doing bad things for a good reason – and though he wants redemption he doesn’t feel like he deserves it throwing him into depression and anxiety. Our heroine was thrown from a horse and broke her back putting her in a wheelchair. She is tired of people looking at her like she is broken. Her mind works just fine but their attitude has put a bit of a chip on her shoulder.

When these get together it’s fire and ice. I loved how he sees her and how she can reach beneath his anxiety. As with all great love stories they are better (more whole) together than apart. I loved these two perfectly imperfect characters and was thrilled watching them get together. I loved that they weren’t perfect. Bravo!

Blurb:

Newly mated vampire, Hailey Whitfield has a long to-do list that involves protecting her brother, dealing with newfound powers, and plotting to take over the entire vampire political leadership system.

It’s not enough that she and Jax have done everything the council asked. Yeah, sure, there were some rocky roads and a little defiance on her end, but they managed it.

Still, Soran and Gretchen aren’t happy. Something to do with a prophecy about Jax and Hailey being the new power couple that could bring an end to the council.

Well, they have a right to be paranoid. Don’t mess with Hailey and her tight circle of family and friends. It won’t end well.

When Hailey and the Bond Girls track down a skip who isn’t human, they have decisions to make. But this skip has information Jax and Hailey need to implement their plan for dominating the midlife.

Their lives, along with those of the vampire race, are about to change forever.

My review:

Non-stop action and intrigue. Jax and Hailey finally take on Soran and Gretchen with help from Ava and her friends. But boy howdy are they all run through the gauntlet. This is a thrill a minute read that leaves you exhausted, happy and wanting more.

Catching Her (Savage Kings #2) by Milly Taiden

Blurb:

Lion shifter Carter King doesn’t feel like himself. Is it the pressure of rebuilding the King fortune? Nope. He actually likes a challenge. Is it because his family is bent on finding his mate? No. He doesn’t need a mate. He’s fine on his own. So fine, he even makes a million-dollar bet that he can stay away from his fated mate.

Amara Worthington is cut off from her family and their business. Intent on making a name for herself, she leaves her life behind. She walks into King Industries’ offices and demands that Carter hire her. She knows she can fill the King coffers. She just has to stop her silly attraction to her new boss and focus on her career.

Carter knows he’ll lose the bet the second Amara walks into his office. He tries to keep away from her, but it’s no use. He needs to be with her. He can’t fight fate or the attraction he feels. But Amara isn’t who she claims to be, and after a series of break-ins, the pair will have a hell of a time figuring out who is behind their troubles … and why. One thing is certain. Even a King can’t stop fate!

My review:

Carter is the middle brother. His younger brother has found his fated mate and now Carters’ mother, sister and younger brother are determined to find mates for Carter and older brother Weston.

Amara is trying to start over. Her father has remarried and his bride is younger than her and a total beyotch who cost Amara her job with her fathers company. Amara is of the belief that success is the best revenge. Toward that end Amara gets a job at the King family companies working for Carter who is dismayed to discover she is his mate.

This is a sweet and sexy story that had me smiling throughout. It is a story of family and what that means. I loved it.

The Cat Lady Special (The Cat Lady Series) by D.C. Gomez

Blurb:

What would you do if you had nothing to lose?

Angela has reached the end of her rope. Bills are piling up, money is sparse, and her two-timing ex-husband traded her in for a “Barbie” lookalike. Depression and lack of hope put her in a world filled with never-ending pain, and when she loses the one thing she has left—her will to live—she knows there’s nothing left to go back to. Until an unexpected knock on her door wakes her up.

The lonely, sad cat lady comes face to face with a new and exciting opportunity, if only she grabs the bull by the horns and accepts. When she does, she learns of a crazy family secret, but she also finds a way to save herself, and the people she loves most.

The Cat Lady Special is a story of second chances, discovering your inner savior, and of finding hope in the most unexpected places. It will appeal to fans of “How Stella God her Groove Back” and “Breaking Bad.”

My review:

This book has been on my TBR pile for a long time and I wish I had gotten to sooner because this was one heck of a ride. I was worried because it starts out with an extremely depressed character contemplating suicide. Don’t worry she doesn’t and she pulls up her big girl pants and does what it takes to get back to the warm and loving woman she is. I was not thrilled with the avenue she took to get there but you do what you gotta do. This book made me laugh, cry and think about what I would do to survive. I am really looking forward to the next installment.

So I Married a Werewolf (The Mating Game Book 1) by Kristen Strassel

Blurb:

I married a wolf who wasn’t my mate for “the good of the pack.” Ask me how that worked out. Now a wolf in sequins and fierce heels is on my doorstep, promising she can breathe life into the dreams that died that day... if I’m willing to put my fate in her well-manicured claws.

I’ll get three questions.

Why did my ex tuck tail and leave me with our kids and a giant mess? What is he trying to prove by coming back? And am I brave enough to defy my pack and choose myself?

Oh, enough about him already. He had his chance. I’m ready for a new life.

Bibi le Bonnet is my fairy dragmother. The fabulous wolf will give me a total life makeover and the mating ceremony of my dreams... All I have to do is become a contestant on The Mating Game and choose a mate sight unseen after asking a few flirty questions in front of a live audience.

Three potential suitors.

The wolf who walks out from behind the curtain is none other than superstar Logan Mathis. I’ve spent so many nights fantasizing about the famous actor, and now he’s on The Mating Game wooing the biggest homebody mom I know: me. Can I trust this wolf when he says he’s willing to claim me, or is it all an act to revive his career?

And three dates to find my forever.

Every date with Logan is time in the spotlight. My pack and the paparazzi want nothing more than to tear us apart. I want to believe the fantasy, but am I fooling myself? Because my ex is back, and he’s not ready to let any other wolf have me.

The Mating Game is a brand-new series brought to you by the team that created The Real Werewives! Get ready for a season full of fun and flirty episodes finding fated mates where you least expect them. Anything can happen when the cameras are rolling, but don’t worry, these books don’t fade to black.

My review:

Sweet, fun and heart wrenching. I loved watching Cindy come into her own, Logan find his wolf and Bibi is just fabulous. This book has all the feels from cute kids to hunky heroes and nasty bad guys. Bring on Wendy.

Chasing Her (Savage Kings #1) by Milly Taiden

Blurb:

Book one of the Savage King Series

Zoe Creed is the best private investigator around. She’s so good even shifters hire her. But when Roman King walks into her office with a strange case, her instincts scream that she should turn down the job. Not because she can’t do it. Because the man in question is irresistible. Roman is trouble, and she’s fresh – and forever – off the market.

Lion shifter and professional philanthropist Roman King cares only cares about his family and making the world a better place. The last thing he needs is to find his mate. But when his beloved little sister is embroiled in a blackmail scheme, he ends up in Zoe Creed’s office. Zoe is not only his mate, she’s also bent on resisting him.

Now, Zoe is on Roman’s shortlist of things that matter. His sister’s case isn’t the only mission he’s on. He will win his fated mate’s heart along the way. Convincing her might be harder than tracking down the blackmailers

My review:

Milly Taiden does it again!  Zoe Creed is smart and sassy. Lion shifter Roman King is sweet and sexy.  These two go through a rollercoaster of emotions with each other but are really perfect for each other. This is a enthralling mystery and delicious romance.

Blurb:

Half-witch, half-necromancer, Ava Harper has finally accepted her destiny, her inheritance, and her insane power. Yet, there is still so much more to learn.

And it’s time to use it to do some good. Necromancers are being held captive at the vampires’ headquarters in Milan.

No big deal for our Ava. She’s the most powerful necromancer in like… possibly ever? She can handle those fanged suckers.

Things go a little crazy and Ava gets some help from a very unexpected ally. Together, the group of friends and ghouls have to free the world from the influence of a couple of
very corrupted vampires.

That’s not to mention the rest of her to-do list: wedding planning, figuring out the souls in the Viking blade, helping Olivia deal with her family’s new magic, and don’t forget the mess Crystal left with the shifters.

It’s all going to be okay. Ava is powerful, right? She’s got this.

My review:

Ava and her gang of quirky friends are enmeshed in a frenetic race to save captured necromancers and themselves. We get the answers to some questions only to be replaced by new queries. I really enjoyed this fast-paced romp.
