Take to the Limit (Unbroken Heroes #4) by Dawn Ryder

Blurb:

They are part of an elite unit. On task. Off grid. These are the men of the Shadow Ops task force. Be seduced and thrilled by Take to the Limit, the next Unbroken Heroes novel by Dawn Ryder.

Holding out for a hero

A hardened military machine, Bram Magnus is a tough, combat-ready, all-American hero who never surrenders. But the one thing he can't fight? His smoldering, intense attraction to his girlfriend's younger sister. He's always kept his feelings locked deeply down. But when his girlfriend betrays him the night before he ships off to Afghanistan, Bram has one chance to show the woman he's resisted for years that he wants her as fiercely as the first day he saw her.

Ever since her older sister first brought home the soldier with steely hard muscles and piercing eyes, Jaelyn has wanted Bram, and when her sister casts him aside the night before he leaves, Jaelyn can't resist one steamy hot kiss with him. But danger is not far behind, and even as a deadly enemy hunts them, their relationship only grows more explosive. It's all Bram can do to keep Jaelyn safe, but with a threat this powerful, will they pay the ultimate price for their passion?

My review:

Take to the Limit is an intense romantic suspense with lots of alpha men and a few alpha women too. I really enjoyed the story but almost got whiplash with the changing points of view. Still, an enjoyable escape and exciting read.

Bring the Heat (Dragon Kin #9) by G.A. Aiken

Blurb:

HE SAYS . . .
I, Aidan the Divine, am . . . well, divine. My name was given to me by the Dragon Queen herself! I’m a delight! Cheerful. Charming. And a mighty warrior who is extremely handsome, with a very large and well-hidden hoard of gold. I am also royal-born, despite the fact that most in my family are horrendous beings who don’t deserve to live. And yet, Branwen the Awful—a low-born, no less—either tells me to shut up or, worse, ignores me completely.

SHE SAYS . . .
I’ll admit, I ignore Aidan the Divine because it annoys him. A lot. But we have so much to do right now, I can’t worry about why he keeps staring at me, or why he always sits so close, or why he keeps looking at me like he’s thinking about kissing me. We have our nations to save and no time for such bloody foolishness . . . no matter how good Aidan looks or how long his spiked tail is. Because if we’re going to win this war before it destroys everything we love, we’ll have to face our enemies together, side by side and without distractions. But if we make it out alive, who knows what the future will hold . . .

My review:

Bring the Heat is a terrific addition to the Dragon Kin series. I love this snarky epic fantasy/PNR hybrid of a series. You will enjoy this more if you’ve read the previous books but if you haven’t you should be able to enjoy this anyway.  Branwen the Awful is a Caldewar dragon raised to the battlefield and she is damn good at it. Aidan the Divine was born royal and has a gift for dealing with difficult dragons which is good because Branwen is great at being difficult. This story takes us to the battlefield and the bedroom with stops along the way in Hell and beyond. This is a rollicking romance and adventure that will make you laugh out loud and gasp in amazement. I highly recommend.

So I Married a Sorcerer (The Embraced #2) by Kerrelyn Sparks

Blurb:

Growing up on the Isle of Moon, Brigitta knows nothing of her past, except that she is Embraced: born with powers that forced her into hiding. Everything changes when she learns she’s a princess, hidden away from her villainous half-brother who now rules the kingdom. But he knows about Brigitta, and he’ll do anything to get her back. Unless a certain roguish pirate has anything to say about it…
Rupert is both an infamous pirate and a sorcerer with the power to harness the wind. He’s been waiting nineteen years for revenge—and he needs Brigitta to get it. What begins as a kidnapping of the fiery beauty turns into a fierce attraction. But can he win the captive princess’s heart?

My review:
So I Married a Sorcerer is a fabulous addition to The Embraced series. Brigitta may be innocent but she isn’t ignorant and while being kidnapped may be frightening she will be nothing less than her bravest self and survive. The pirate Rupert may be a sorcerer but the fair Brigitta, daughter of the man who killed his parents and stole his throne, is the one stealing his heart.
This story is a fun romp ala The Princess Bride with moments of fun, fear and most of all love true love. I heartily recommend.

Signed, SEALed, Delivered is the first book in Cayce Poponea’s romantic suspense, the Trident Brotherhood series. If you like Alpha males, who will stop at nothing to protect the women they love, sizzling sex scenes, and the evil of the world getting their just rewards, then you will love this installment in Cayce Poponea page-turning new series.

Pick up Signed, SEALed, Delivered to discover this exciting new series today.

My review:
Signed, SEALed, Delivered is the first in a series and has a really sweet romance set in amongst some of lifes ugliest situations. Kennedy Forrester is the smart girl with a heart of gold and an overbearing mother. Zach Michaels is the guy who ended up a SEAL to show up his NFL linebacker brother. They have both been exposed to the uglier side of life but their love story is incredibly sweet. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but I can assure you it won’t be my last. I really enjoyed this book.

Tempt Me (The Red Veil Diaries) by Marianne Morea

Blurb:

The Vampire Bitch…
Control is something Abigail Bigly lives for—that and watching those beneath her, twist. She’s scratched her way to the top of New York’s vampire inner circle, reveling in her position as proprietor of The Red Veil, the city’s trendiest hot spot and underground center of their shrouded domain. However, being a member of the vampire elite doesn’t mean you can deny your master. When she’s ordered to work closely with one certain Were, she can’t refuse no matter how strongly she objects.

The Forbidden is the Hardest to Resist.
Sent to help keep New York’s shadow houses clear of the deadly virus that nearly wiped out the vampires of New York, Dash Collier has his work cut out for him. Especially when teamed with a woman who’d sooner tear his heart out and eat it than look at him. But neither is prepared for the rush when dangerous passions ignite, crushing old taboos. Is it simply hate-born lust or could it be something more?

My review:

Tempt Me is a vampire/werewolf story that covers all the bases.  The vampire is angsty and angry and we hear every dog joke both good and bad out there. Vampires and Werewolves are trying a new détente trying to find the cure for a new strain of disease that can and does infect Vampires. Of course when détente heats up there are those who would see it fail.
Tempt Me can be read stand alone. This is a smoking hot story with a strong female lead with a broken heart. Can the male lead patch her up and make her believe in more? Thank goodness for Bette and Gehrig for comic relief or this story might have been too heavy. As it was I enjoyed it immensely.

Her Fairytale Wolf: Howls Romance by Milly Taiden and Marianne Morea

Blurb:

Isabel Lassiter knows with the right opportunity, her custom couture could rule Tinsel Town. Instead, she’s tied to a boss she both hates and pities, waiting for her chance shine. Lonely, she waits for the right someone to notice and sweep her off her feet.
Zander Petrov has Hollywood and the city of Los Angeles at his feet. Still, he’s never forgotten his shifter roots or his duty to his clan. He knows he has to mate, but in his glittering world a genuine mate is hard to find. The search continues until the day he meets Isabel in this modern twist on a favorite fairytale.
A chance meeting opens the door for everything this Cinderella wants and more, but jealousy and betrayal nearly snatch the happily ever after from her hands. What they didn’t count on was a Prince Charming with a bite.

My review:

Her Fairytale Wolf is a bright new retelling of the Cinderella tale. These authors take on Disney and make this a sexy grown up tale of rising up. I love that while downtrodden Isabel isn’t a total wuss. I like that we get to know our prince, Zander, better and that he has more angst than Isabel.
This is a fun, sexy short that will have you smiling and fist-pumping by the end.

Bud (Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club #10) by Candace Blevins

Blurb:

Nickie’s an investigative journalist who recently faced some of the worst men she’s ever confronted — which would’ve been fine if the FBI hadn’t lost them when she’d practically handed them over on a silver platter.
She vacations in Cancun to get away from the horrors she saw while probing into the human trafficking organization, and doesn’t expect they’ll be able to find her while she travels under another of her pen names.
Bud is in Mexico on club business, staying in a Cancun resort dressed as an American businessman. He meets the beautiful Nicole and gets caught up protecting her when he discovers she’s all alone in Mexico with human traffickers after her. She’d paid the resort extra to provide protection services, but Bud fears the bad guys have outbid her and bought her security out from under her.
Can Bud take an investigative journalist home to Atlanta? She’s good at her job, will she turn on him if she discovers how the MC makes most of their money? His wolf isn’t taking no for an answer, and once Bud discovers Nickie writes BDSM Romance under a pen name, he isn’t inclined to argue with his inner animal.

My review:

A motorcycle club president who is a hardcore Sadist and a werewolf meets a human investigative journalist who describes herself as a Masochistic switch if there is someone who should make him turn and run away it is this woman but he and his wolf are intrigued and fearless enough to try.  The sex scenes are a bit rough as you can imagine but if anyone can make you see inside the mindset of a hardcore sadist and like him it would be this author.  The story reads like romantic suspense with an edge.

Blurb:

Three ways that Ella's life is totally messed up:
__ her new coworker is as cranky as he is attractive
__ a mischievous cat has decided she needs a familiar
__ she just found out she's a witch who can read the emotional hologram of a magical death (and isn't that a mouthful)
And oh yeah, there's five dead bodies, and no one knows how they are connected. Now she’s drawn into a madcap investigation at the casino where she's managed to snag a job. She must navigate learning her new mage abilities, a topless burlesque show, a jealous girlfriend, gamblers of all varieties, and magical chocolate cake, all while not setting herself or others on fire before the murderer makes her the next victim.
A humorous adventure!

My review:

Of Murders and Mages is the first in a new paranormal cozy mystery series that will have you laughing and keep you guessing. Ella has recently lost her father, found a new job, and discovered she has powers. I love Ella. She is sweet, gorgeous, smart and funny. I loved this story and am looking forward to new adventures with Ella, Van & Patagonia.

Ashes of the Phoenix (Phoenix Rising, #1) by Jess Haines

Blurb:

Legend says a phoenix will rise again—but all that remains of the immortal bird are ashes and whispered fairy tales...

Lyra Adams enjoys her job as a rare books dealer, but when an angry wizard barges into her store and demands she fork over a unique tome from the antiquities section, she's not about to let him get away with grand larceny without a fight.

Except it's suddenly very difficult to defend her wares, seeing as the wizard turned her into some kind of weird red bird by flinging a handful of ashes in her face.

Her only hope of returning to her normal, human self lies in the hands of the one man she never wanted to see again: her lying, stealing, sorcerous scumbag ex, James Pierce. The same light-fingered thief who tried to steal that very same tome from her a few days before.

She knows she can’t trust James with her heart or her inventory. Can she trust him to turn her back?

My review:

Ashes of the Phoenix by Jess Haines is a short but terrific start to a wonderful new series. Bookseller Lyra Adams starts the story as human but is soon transformed into a Phoenix. This story tells of her transformation and start to her new life as a legendary being. I can’t say much without giving spoilers but I can say I thoroughly enjoyed this story and look forward to more.

Fool of Main Beach (Love in Laguna #5) by Tara Lain

Blurb:

Merle Justice wants to reach for the stars, but it’s tough to get respect when playing a teenybopper vampire on TV. Then he meets a famous director anxious to give him all he thinks he wants—and maybe a bit more. Everything’s looking up until a life-threatening encounter with some homophobes on Main Beach puts Merle face-to-face with a Sasquatch-sized hero in a pink puffer coat.
Tom Henry defies description. As unsophisticated and simple as an angel, he walks through life content with who he is and asking for very little except to care for his sister, Lily, and the dogs he loves. Then he meets Merle, the embodiment of dreams he barely knows he has. Merle knows the people who hold his future in their hands might love Tom—but they’ll never understand Merle and Tom together. Tom knows it too. With lives this far apart, who’s really the fool of Main Beach?

My review:
m/m
At long last another addition to the Love in Laguna series. In this installment we have the TV heartthrob and the contractor. It took me a bit took get into this story not because the writing wasn’t good it is. I was worried about my reaction to the Electrician Tom Henry. I like everyone else in the story was a little bit wary about the rising star, Merle, and his relationship with the sweet and guileless Tom. But through the authors skilled pen we realize that there is no better place for these two guys than in each other’s arms.  I ended up loving this story.

Reflections on a year of healing

On August 17th 2016 I was hurt when I dumped my scooter rather than hit head on the truck that pulled out in front of me. Having the right of way is no consolation if you are dead. It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining and it wasn’t brutally hot as it had been. I had on my Harley Davidson helmet, Rocket gloves and a neon yellow safety vest with reflective striping yet the drive said he didn’t see me. I was lucky as when I landed the helmet took a beating but my brains didn’t. I have road rash scars the length of my right side. There is a knot on my shoulder that still itches as though it is healing. I have a truly ugly incision scar on the back of my leg where the surgeons cut into me to put plates and pins in my leg. But I am alive to bitch about it. This year has been a roller coaster of emotions dealing with this insult to my person. I learned a lot. I learned that there are a lot of people who care for me and my well being. I learned that I am a really crappy patient. I learned that my husband has the patience of a Saint. He went above and beyond in my care. I’ve battled depression and pain and have fought to regain a sense of safety. We made the decision to sell the scooter both for my husbands peace of mind and because when I tried to ride I had flashbacks. I hate that what was once so enjoyable now causes me fright. But above it all I am grateful to be alive and walking around.

Sassy Ever After: In My Mate's Sight (Kindle Worlds Novella) by Cassidy K. O'Connor

In My Mate's Sight (Kindle Worlds Novella) by Cassidy K. O'Connor

Blurb:

Man’s best friend also happens to be woman’s best mate.
Caeden Shepperd is new to town, and being the only dog shifter around makes things a little awkward and sometimes difficult for him, but working for the sheriff’s department helps. When a protection case comes in as a favor to a fellow employee, Caeden is up for the job, but he wasn’t expecting to be that type of companion. But one look and he knows he’ll do anything for her.
After witnessing a murder with the killer still at large, Koira Scott’s mom immediately calls Koira’s aunt for help. Koira lost her sight at an early age, which her mother thinks puts her at a disadvantage, so she moves her far away in hopes of protecting her. What Koira wasn’t expecting to find in the new town was the handsome deputy, or the department’s seeing eye dog, Thumper, but both make her feel safe.
When Koira’s past comes after her, Caeden’s loyalty knows no bounds. He’ll stop at nothing to protect her. When her eyes are opened to the truth, will it make a difference? Or is she too far in to let go?

My review:
A dog shifter! Yay! I think there should be a whole lot more dog shifter books out there. I really like that Koira though blind is not portrayed as an invalid or helpless. I loved the snark and comradery among the guys and that even though Caeden is a dog he has earned a place among the wolves.  I thoroughly enjoyed this story even though I am not sure I pronounced the characters names correctly.

A Dance With Death (1Night Stand #191) by Louisa Bacio

I LOVE this cover!

Blurb:

She’s a classic…
After recovering from an injury and uncertain of her future in the world of dance, ballerina Isabella treats herself to a dating service–some frolicking between the sheets before she decides what to do with the rest of her life is just the jeté her heart and mind needs.
He’s a bit more modern…
A successful music video choreographer, Raul is constantly surrounded by gorgeous dancers. But his life lacks a vitality and depth he needs to fuel his creative passion. He turns to a 1Night Stand to discover inspiration.
A dance between life and death…
When an accident threatens to cancel the evening of romance, Isabella and Raul will have to dance to a new beat. Can a dance with death change fate?

My review:
A Dance With Death by Louisa Bacio was not what I was expecting but was so much more. This story may be short but there is a lot going on. Two professionals from opposite ends of the dance spectrum meet for a One Night Stand but find so much more. I love how the author gave us such a full story filled with mystery, intrigue and love.

Bail Out (Brotherhood Bonds #1) by Jade Chandler

Blurb:

These bonds don’t break

ELLE

Bounty hunting is in my blood. For generations there’s been a Jackson running Jackson Bail Bonds and that tradition won’t end on my watch. But my father would much rather see a ring on my finger than a pair of cuffs in my hands, and now I have thirty days to either tie the knot or come up with five hundred grand.

Daddy doesn’t know best. Nothing’s going to stand in the way of claiming what’s mine—not even a sexy bounty-hunting biker.

REBEL

Bonds are my business. I live for the hunt, and if it makes a hefty chunk of change, all the better. The Jericho Brotherhood is the only commitment I intend to make in this life and I swore there’d never be a woman on the back of my bike…until I watched Elle Jackson take down a thug with a smile and a Taser.

When a woman like that asks for your help, you f*ing deliver.

Make sure a knockout, kick-ass woman gets her due? Sign me up. No one is ever going to mistake me for one of the good guys, but for this job, I’m just the man Elle needs.

My review:
Elle Jackson is a kick@ss bail bondswoman. She does everything the guys do, better, backwards in heels. She was supposed to take over the family business but now her father wants grandkids and is playing games with Elles’ future.  Now she has thirty days to either tie the knot or come up with five hundred grand in bonds. Elle is determined to beat her father at his own game. His father didn’t make ridiculous demands for him to inherit.
Rebel is trying to make his bond company work. He wants his contribution to the Jericho Brotherhood Motorcycle Club to be the best. When a sexy blonde steals his bond he is angry but intrigued.
No matter how well intentioned Elle’s father is a douche. I loved that Elle didn’t take the easier route straight off. I loved that she stuck to her guns. Rebel doesn’t know what is about to hit him in the form of Elle and we get to sit back and watch the fireworks happen.
I enjoyed the book but got the feeling it is a spin-off of another series which I haven’t read. All in all this is a hell of a ride.

Blade (Bayou Heat #23) by Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright

Blurb:
Sexy Suit, Blade was held captive and abused for decades. Benson Enterprises was desperate to use his superior blood to create super soldiers. But when he’s finally rescued, he can’t return to the Wildlands with the other prisoners. Not without the female he was forced to watch being impregnated. The female who has gone missing.
Beautiful and broken, Valli just wants to run away and never look back. But with the shocking news of her pregnancy fresh in her mind, she wonders if that’s even possible. Told by her captors that one of the caged animals assaulted her, she knows she must do everything in her power to keep her unborn child safe. But when a glorious male tracks her down and claims her and her baby as his own, will she have the strength to walk away?

My review:
Having never read any of the Bayou Heat stories I expected to be lost but the authors did a really good job of making their world real and easy to enter. I loved that Blade was so invested in finding the mother of his cub even though he had very little to do with its creation. There were twists and turns I didn’t expect that made this a terrific story and one I will revisit often.

Unbound (Ellison Frost - Bound, #1) by R.C. Butler

Blurb:
When a high profile socialite is found dead, posed in an extremely provocative position, Lieutenant Ellison Frost must set aside her personal connection in pursuit of the truth.

As the case pushes into the reaches of the victim's sexually deviant lifestyle, Frost must battle exposing her own private life and the duality it has become.

Can she solve the case without exposing her twisted desires and risking her career? Does she continue to hide the shackles that restrain her or simply throw them to the light and forever be Unbound?

This book contains graphic sexual content and is not intended for anyone present at the author's birth.

My review:
Unbound is two stories in one. First there is a murder mystery and second we are introduced to the sexually adventurous Homicide Lieutenant Ellison Frost. Both stories intertwine as Ellison investigates the death of a high profile socialite found sexually bound and suffocated. Ellison has always kept her private and professional life separate but this case has the two meeting in ways she is unsure of.
I enjoyed the story and admit to laughing out loud at times. Ellison is a complex character and I empathized with her struggle to reconcile her work persona with the other parts of her personality. I liked Rob and hope to see the relationship between the two grow.

Destination: Love by Eliza Knight, Christi Barth, Piper J. Drake, Misty D. Waters & Christina Elle

Blurb:

Go the distance, fall farther than you planned...

Don’t bother with your passport - you can watch our HOT couples fall in love from the comfort of your couch! USA Today bestsellers Christi Barth, Eliza Knight, Misty D. Waters and Piper J. Drake, and Christina Elle take you along on sexy, romance-drenched vacations all over the globe. Enjoy the exotic settings, the steamy vacation flings that become something more. Take the plunge with five couples as they throw caution to the wind and give in to temptation. The final destination in this itinerary is love, and you’re in for the trip of your life.

Cruising Toward Love
Can an unexplained breakup and ten years of heartache be cured by the romance – and endless buffets – of a tropical cruise? When her sister is left at the altar, small town librarian Zoe Balis jumps at the chance to take the bride’s unused ticket for the honeymoon cruise. But she didn't count on sharing a cabin with the man who broke her heart ten years ago!

Wherever You Are
After life takes a heart-breaking turn, Calista Adams indulges in a fling while on vacation. But that steamy encounter fills her heart with something she thought never to have again. Maxwell Dane can’t stop thinking about Calista, but he’s home in Paris, she’s an ocean away. Until Calista takes a nine-week sabbatical to travel Europe. With a second chance in sight, Max won’t let her push him away. This could be the forever kind of love, and there’s only one way to find out.

Tell Me No Lies
A handsome B&B owner plus an exotic vacation equals a rare opportunity for overworked single mom Amelia Spenser: a chance to be someone else. For one week, she’s free to be anyone he wants. And she wants to be his perfect match. He doesn’t have to know who she really is. What’s a few lies for the sake of a week they’ll never forget? It’s not like they’ll fall in love…

Finding His Mark
Security chief Michael Hunt brings in wet work specialist Sushar “Su” Sakda to pose as his woman, find his mark, and eliminate the threat—an assassin hunting in his organization. They make a potent pair for this job, and if they survive, their sizzling pretense could become the real thing.

Anywhere With You
Teegan Michaels has attended six weddings for her sorority sisters dateless and she refuses to go to the last one alone. Not when she has a perfectly respectable—not to mention hot—NFL player ready to save her from humiliation. Who cares that he’s the bride’s ex-fiancé and only wants to go for revenge? What's the worst that could happen?

My review:

Five stories to take you away. I read this while on vacation so had a two-fer.
Cruising Toward Love by Christi Barth – Is a sweet second chance romance. The whole town hasn’t let Zoe forget that Nate left her high and dry at the Prom. He left her without a word or backward glance. Now they end up sharing a honeymoon cabin and he has a chance to make things right. Will she let him? Will she live long enough to forgive him? This story is filled with love, laughter, second chances and a bit of intrigue. The secondary characters really made the story for me.
Wherever You Are by Eliza Knight - Calista Adams was dumped at the alter so she ends up on her honeymoon alone. She meets the sexy Max Dane and takes a chance on a vacation fling. She never expected it to turn into more. This story was fairly predictable but you like the characters so much you really don’t care. You root for the HEA.
Tell Me No Lies by Misty D. Waters – He is an overworked entrepreneur and she is a single mom. They meet on vacation and fall for each other. This story read as a spin-off from a series. I enjoyed it and may have to find the series.
Finding His Mark by Piper J. Drake – My favorite of all and the reason I bought the book. I felt like I was there in the story and even bad guys need love.
Anywhere With You by Christina Elle – Always a bridesmaid and never a bride… the story of Teegan Michaels life. She has been invited to another Delta Gam wedding and will be the last single gal standing. She is determined not to attend the destination wedding alone. But when the brides ex volunteers to be her plus 1 you can count on trouble. But can you count on love? A silly fun tale of ego and love.

Sassy Ever After: Demon Mate (Kindle Worlds Novella) by Sheri Lyn

Blurb:
Brogan Taggert, a wolf shifter and town playboy has his entire world upended when he meets his mate. Brogan Taggert, a wolf shifter and town playboy's entire world is upended. Not only is he a man, but he's also in Hell... Literally.
Jericho, a six hundred year old demon was dragged to Hell after helping the town of Blue Creek banish a necromancer. Each day he's tortured and all he can do is call out to his mate and say I'm sorry.
They say the road to Hell is laid with good intentions. It's time for Brogan to find out if the old adage is true. Can they rescue Jericho and have their happily ever after?

My review:
m/m
Would you go to Hell to save your intended mate? Wolf shifter Brogan Taggert is freaking out that his mate is male and half demon but he knows he will do anything to bring him back even if it means going into Hell and dragging him out.
Though this story is billed as the sequel to Check Mate it can be read standalone. This short story reads like an episode of Supernatural with wit, snark and lots of adventure. I really enjoyed this sweet and fun read.

Assassin Next Door (Bad Boy Inc. #1) by Eve Langlais

Blurb:
A killer with a white picket fence.
Suburbia, a great place for a man with secrets to hide while investing in some solid real estate. The biggest drawback?
Neighbors.
In this case, a neighbor with sexy curves and a bright smile. Good thing she's not his type. Single moms with annoying ex-husbands are on the do-not-date list.
Stay away.
Calvin wants to; it's just not happening. He can't help but find himself drawn to the chaos next door. And when danger threatens his suburban lifestyle, this assassin doesn't hesitate to act.
Killing people is easy. Domestication, on the other hand...

My review:
This book made me laugh out loud. While this book deals with some serious subjects like spousal abuse, stalking, drugs and assassination it does it tongue in cheek with a true sense of humor. This book answers the question of what happens when an assassin falls in love with the single mother next door. Read it and I promise you too will fall for the Assassin Next Door.

Marked for Them (Witches of Rose Lake #1) by Lia Davis

Blurb:
Hiding out in a mental institution isn’t glamorous. I call it surviving.
I’m blissfully unaware of the world outside the walls—and spell—that hides me. Until the ghost shows up with talks about his friends being marked by a demon. Oh, but not just any demon. The same one who has marked me and wants me dead.
My Father.
Fearful daddy dearest would be my next uninvited guess, I make the choice to follow the ghost to his four, very alive friends. To my relief they want my father dead as much as I do. One thing I’m not prepared for is finding out that Zane—the alpha wolf shifter—is my mate, and the demon mark links the five of us—ghost included—together on a deeper level than I thought.
Teaming up and facing the demon stirs up passion and dark secrets none of us are ready to face.

My review:
Marked for Them is a PNR/Reverse Harem story. Our heroine is a ½ demon ½ witch hybrid. She has been hiding out in an insane asylum since shortly after her father killed her mother. Now she’s been found and a ghost leads her to temporary safety and four other guys.
The world building is great and it was fun getting to know the guys but I felt this story required a longer book. The author handles it by leaving us with a cliff hanger ending which I hate but I love knowing we are going to get the rest of the story and more time with the guys.

Merz , Faith Hunter , Diana Pharaoh Francis , Lilith Saintcrow , Carrie Vaughn , Domino Finn

Blurb:
Villains have all the fun—everyone knows that—and this anthology takes you on a wild ride through the dark side! The top villains from sixteen urban fantasy series get their own stories—including the baddies of New York Times bestselling authors Jim Butcher, Kevin Hearne, Kelley Armstrong, Seanan McGuire, and Jonathan Maberry.
For every hero trying to save the world, there’s a villain trying to tear it all down.
In this can’t-miss anthology edited by Joseph Nassise (The Templar Chronicles), you get to plot world domination with the best of the evildoers we love to hate! This outstanding collection brings you stories told from the villains’ point of view, imparting a fresh and unique take on the evil masterminds, wicked witches, and infernal personalities that skulk in the pages of today’s most popular series.
The full anthology features stories by Jim Butcher (the Dresden Files), Kelley Armstrong (the Cainsville and Otherworld series), Seanan McGuire (October Daye), Kevin Hearne (The Iron Druid Chronicles), Jonathan Maberry (Joe Ledger), Lilith Saintcrow (Jill Kismet), Carrie Vaughn (Kitty Norville), Joseph Nassise (Templar Chronicles), C.E. Murphy (Walker Papers), Steven Savile (Glasstown), Caitlin Kittredge (the Hellhound Chronicles and the Black London series), Jeffrey Somers (The Ustari Cycle), Sam Witt (Pitchfork County), Craig Schaefer (Daniel Faust), Jon F. Merz (Lawson Vampire), Faith Hunter (Jane Yellowrock), and Diana Pharaoh Francis (Horngate Witches).

My review:
Everybody has a story and their own point of view, even the bad guys. In this fantastic anthology we get to hear from some bad guys that occupy the very best of the Urban Fantasy world. In these sixteen stories we struggle with the reality that good and evil are two sides of the same coin. These sixteen fabulous  authors get to play on the dark side for a change. If you haven’t read these  authors this anthology is a great way to get your toes wet as there isn’t a bad story in the lot.

Wolf's Mate (Shifter Rogues #1) by Celia Kyle

Blurb:
Danger shouldn't be this sexy...
Cougar shifter Abby Carter always plays it safe. That's why she's an accountant--no excitement, no danger, and no cocky alpha males. She loves her quiet life, but fate has other plans. When Abby uncovers the shady dealings of an anti-shifter organization, she'll have to trust the too-sexy-for-her-peace-of-mind werewolf Declan Reed... or end up six feet under.
Declan Reed is starting over. After two years with Shifter Operations Command, it's time to put his past behind him. Now Declan is the only thing standing between the gorgeous Abby and an early grave, and if he's going to have any chance of keeping her alive, he'll have to embrace the darkness he's fought to keep at bay. But first he has to convince Abby that there's no safer place in the world than the arms of a big bad werewolf.

My review:
Wolf's Mate (Shifter Rogues #1) by Celia Kyle is a fun new start to a sexy new series. Forget your bikers these bad boys make them look tame. These sexy shifters have been given a second chance by doing what they do best for Shifter Operations Command; protecting shifters from all dangers foreign and domestic.
I loved that though the sexual attraction for Abby was there from the very beginning that they didn’t consummate until later in the book. I loved that the guys picked on each other but wouldn’t allow anyone else do the same.
These sexy bad boy shifters deserve love as much as anyone if not more. I thoroughly enjoyed this fast paced, exciting romp.
