Something New (Brides of Cedar Bend Book 2) by Lena Hart

Blurb:
When small town mechanic Damian Carson comes to Savvy Williams' rescue—again—he is determined to make their encounter a bit more memorable than the first. Yet when a rousing kiss leads to a bogus engagement, Damian is willing to play along with the charade—if it means having certain liberties over the southern belle.
Embarrassed by her recent broken engagement—and eager to dispel rumors of her attraction to rich men only—Savvy forges ahead with a pretend relationship to the handsomely rugged mechanic. But when their harmless charade results in a quickie wedding, new desires are aroused and they must decide how far they are willing to take their pretense…and if it will be strong enough to survive something real.

My review:

Something New is a sweet small town romance. Big city girl, Savvy Williams, goes to a small town to attend her cousins wedding. Small town mechanic Damian Carson seems to be her knight in slightly grubby armor. Although Savvy and Damian seem to be opposites the attraction is undeniable. Although I loved watching these two come together Savvy bugged me with her push me pull you ways it took her forever to make up her mind about being with Damian. Still. A sweet fun read.

Wildfire (Hidden Legacy #3) by Ilona Andrews

Blurb:
Just when Nevada Baylor has finally come to accept the depths of her magical powers, she also realizes she’s fallen in love. Connor “Mad” Rogan is in many ways her equal when it comes to magic, but she’s completely out of her elements when it comes to her feelings for him. To make matters more complicated, an old flame comes back into Rogan’s life…
Rogan knows there’s nothing between him and his ex-fiance, Rynda Sherwood. But as Nevada begins to learn more about her past, her power, and her potential future, he knows she will be faced with choices she never dreamed of and the promise of a life spent without him.
As Nevada and Rogan race to discover the whereabouts of Rynda’s kidnapped husband and are forced to confront Nevada’s grandmother, who may or may not have evil motives, these two people must decide if they can trust in each other or allow everything to go up in smoke.

My review:
Wildfire is the third but hopefully not the last in this terrific world. I dove in and didn’t want to leave. I read this book in one sitting and guarantee I shall visit again and again. I love Nevada. She is smart and strong and not afraid to ask for help when she needs it but stands alone when she can. Nevada loves and takes care of her family but makes time to have a life of her own and an extraordinary love in Connor “Mad” Rogan. It wasn’t planned but now that she has found it she isn’t letting go and won’t let him push her away. This is a UF story with romantic elements. There is action, adventure and love. A perfect mix. I recommend that you read the first two books before reading this one but this can be read stand alone.

The Brothers Ménage by Louisa Bacio

Blurb:

The Brothers Ménage

Who says all fairytale princesses are cursed?

Blessed with the ability to shift on the first three days of the New Moon, Princess Daphne vows to find a romantic connection before her father locks her into a loveless, arranged marriage.
Twins Cliff and Jacob know all the animals in the forest, until they come across shifter Daphne, who appears to them in different forms before transforming into a human.
As time runs out, the brothers from the wrong side of the tracks must weigh if a lifetime with Daphne is worth sharing their own secret, and if it’ll make a difference.

My review:

The Brothers Ménage by Louisa Bacio is an erotic fairytale. Take a motherless, shapeshifting princess add in fraternal twins raised in the forest who have secrets of their own mix well and you have a sexy fun romp that will have you looking at fairy tales in a new light. A fast, fun read.

Ain't Love a Witch? (Witchless in Seattle Mysteries Book 6) by Dakota Cassidy

Blurb:
The name’s Winterbottom. Crispin Alistair Winterbottom. But you can call me Win, ex-international man of mystery, current resident of Plane Limbo, and ghost attached to Stephania Cartwright.
For reasons unknown to us, Stevie can hear me, perhaps because she’s also an ex. An ex-witch, in her case, having lost her powers shortly before our first fateful meeting, upon her return to her hometown of Ebenezer Falls, Washington. Now, with my guidance—and help from her familiar, Belfry, and the spectral form of my old Russian adversary, Arkady—Stevie spends her days as the town medium, with a little light mystery-solving on the side.
The latter of which I’d much prefer she’d avoid, considering the constant danger in which Stevie finds herself. You see, the longer we’re together, the deeper and more complex my feelings become for my mini-spy. And the closer she comes to discovering the few secrets I’m still trying to keep…for both our sakes. But when a precious life is on the line, even I know there’s no stopping my dove from going all in to solve the latest mystery that lands on our doorstep—literally.
Along with Arkady and Bel, I’ll assist her in this latest endeavor. Because there’s more than one precious life on the line…including the one I can’t live without.

My review:
Ain't Love a Witch? Is the sixth book in this series and I heartily recommend reading the others before reading this installment or I promise you’ll be scratching your head going huh? But if you’ve read the others you will totally enjoy this installment. Winterbottom figures out lines he won’t cross as he falls deeper for Stevie. Arkady, believe it or not, is the voice of reason. And Stevie continues to get used to her human condition all the while trying to solve the mystery left on their doorstep.
This book is another romp from the twisted mind of Dakota Cassidy that will have you laughing your mascara off.

Accidental Sire (Half-Moon Hollow #6) by Molly Harper

Blurb:

In Molly Harper's newest paranormal romantic comedy, Ben, Gigi's old boyfriend, must find a way to save his new love after a freak Ultimate Frisbee accident. But will she want to live after she finds out how Ben had to save her?
In this exciting addition to Molly Harper’s beloved Half-Moon Hollow series, the focus is on Gigi’s ex-boyfriend Ben. When his new girlfriend is killed in a freak Ultimate Frisbee accident, he’s determined to save her, no matter the cost, even if it means bringing her into the darkness of vampire life!

My review:

Welcome back to the wacky world of Half-Moon Hollow. Join Jane and friends as they welcome Ben and Megan as fledgling vampires. Meagan may have a turning story almost as wacky as Jane’s. I really enjoyed this story and got a kick out of seeing Jane act as a semi responsible adult. This book actually brought out how much each of these characters has grown yet the story is still just as laugh out loud as any before it. I enjoyed getting a peek at Georgie and how she is when Olivia isn’t around. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and look forward to my next trip into the insanity that is Half-Moon Hollow.

West of Forgotten by Lynda J. Cox

Blurb:

Banished from civilization to the Wyoming Territory, U.S. Marshal Harrison Taylor holds a deed to half the Lazy L. He isn’t sure why his beautiful new partner, Rachel Leonard, doesn’t trust him. He has to convince her he is nothing like the man who abused her and he must earn her trust before the escalating attacks at the Lazy L turn deadly.
For six years, Rachel has worked to repair a shattered life. Caring for her son and invalid father leaves little time to keep the Lazy L profitable. She doesn’t want a business partner simply because her father gambled away half of her beloved ranch, and most certainly doesn’t desire a husband. Unfortunately, she’s stuck with the former and can’t trust Harrison as the latter.
But unless she can learn to trust him, everything and everyone Rachel loves will be lost.

My review:

West of Forgotten by Lynda J. Cox is a riveting story that will draw you into Wyoming in the late 1800’s. Life is hard but especially so for women. Rachel is a smart and strong young woman who has dealt with the blows from life, her father, the church and the townsfolk. She hasn’t let it defeat her. When U.S. Marshal Harrison Taylor enters her life she is determined that he won’t defeat her either. Watching them grow together despite the troubles that surround them is a story worth reading. This story really touched me and left me thinking long after the last page.

Hope Restored (Gallagher Brothers) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:
The Gallagher Brothers series from NYT Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan concludes with the final brother who thought he had everything to look forward to, and the one woman who can handle him.
Life isn’t worth living if you don’t fight to live. That’s what Murphy Gallagher learned at a young age when cancer ravaged his body not once, but twice. Over the course of his survival, he lost his parents and his childhood, but he’s been healthy for years and has become a man he hopes his family is proud of. But when his world tilts on its axis yet again, he’ll have to learn what it means to fight not only the unknown but also his attraction to his best friend.
Tessa Stone works hard and plays harder. She’s spent her life trying to figure out who she is in the present rather than looking back. Yet when she’s forced into close proximity with Murphy, she’ll have to not only be his rock but learn how to relax enough to maybe let him be hers, as well. But seduction doesn’t stop when the world seems to, and close encounters of the naked kind might just be the first step in something much more complicated than either of them bargained for. Life, though, is for living, after all.

My review:
Murphy and Tessa will steal your heart. This story about broke my heart as any fight with cancer will do. The strength of the will to live and love is what gets everyone including the reader through. I think the author delights in bringing her readers to tears just so the joy at resolution will be that much brighter. This is a terrific read.

With her ex now in prison, Gwen has finally found refuge in a new home on remote Stillhouse Lake. Though still the target of stalkers and Internet trolls who think she had something to do with her husband’s crimes, Gwen dares to think her kids can finally grow up in peace.

Gwen Proctor must keep friends close and enemies at bay to avoid being exposed—or watch her kids fall victim to a killer who takes pleasure in tormenting her. One thing is certain: she’s learned how to fight evil. And she’ll never stop.

Stillhouse Lake is a spine tingling psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat through the very last page. This is a book that will have you jumping at noises and looking over your shoulder. I could not put it down.

Elemental Mating (A.L.F.A. #1) by Milly Taiden

Blurb:
Their existence was a secret the government stumbled upon. In exchange for continued autonomy, the paranormals entered an alliance with the government. Now they are A.L.F.A.: Alpha League Federal Agency, sworn to protect and serve humanity.
Brilliant scientist Melinda Caster has discovered a new strain of the Zika virus that stimulates synaptic growth in embryos, causing neuron development beyond normal human levels. Way beyond, like ESP-levels of cognitive abilities. When the lab is broken into, Melinda realizes that someone has been keeping tabs on her research and wants it for themselves. A happy accident destroys critical data before it can fall into the wrong hands, but unfortunately that makes Melinda and her perfect memory a target.
A.L.F.A sends in jaguar-shifter Agent Parish Hamel to discover who is after the virus and why. The beautiful scientist acts like catnip to his senses and throws his mating instincts into overdrive. And then she disappears along with the only sample of the virus…. Now Parish must canvas the darkest areas of the supernatural underground to rescue Melinda, and what he discovers is beyond a paranormal’s worst nightmare.

My review:
Elemental Mating is the first in a new series by Milly Taiden. I love that this book takes place in Uganda. I absolutely adore the fact that our heroine, Melinda, is a gifted scientist. I liked the mix of science and paranormal. I enjoyed the story. I just wish I could have felt the attraction between jaguar-shifter Agent Parish Hamel and Melinda more. It felt a little forced to me which is not usually an issue in this authors work. That being said; bring on the next installment.

Shame of Clones (Karma Inc. Files #3) by Melanie James

Blurb:

What if you could magically clone anyone you’d like, just to keep them around for a short while? Would you? With a couple of good intentions and a bit of witchy mischief, Kelly and Esmeralda find out first-hand what happens when perfectly good clones go naughty—err bad.
Unfortunately, their timing couldn’t have been worse. The world of witchcraft seems to have gone haywire and Karma Inc. might be to blame. Trouble is compounded when Barney runs away in search of a better witch to give him a new body, not to mention the twig and berries he had always dreamt of.
Meanwhile, the witches’ love-lives are going down in flames thanks to a few well-designed clones. To fix witchcraft worldwide and clear their names, the witches of Karma Inc. are forced to unravel a murder mystery involving smugglers, mobsters, spirits, hippies, and the sexiest clones this side of Salem.

This paranormal romantic comedy contains witches, imps, shifters, and a Reality TV show! Karma Inc contains adult language and situations, and is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

My review:

Shame of Clones is a high speed, tongue in cheek, slapstick comedy that will leave you giggling long after the last page. I think you will enjoy it more if you’ve read Karma Inc. and Mission Impawsible (Karma Inc. Files 1 & 2) but even standalone it is a hoot! Be prepared to blush and laugh out loud.

Montana Sky: The Scoundrel's Inconvenient Bride by Crystal Green

Blurb:

A cowboy who never wanted a wife…
Farrell Chadwick is many things—a ranch hand on the Golden C near Sweetwater Springs, a rake from England, and a man born on the wrong side of the blanket. What he most definitely *isn’t* is a willing husband, and not even a forced wedding at the point of a pistol will change that.
But every day Farrell spends with his new bride is a trying day. She’s sweet, innocent, and sorely tempting to a man who’s determined to somehow untangle himself from the marriage trap!

This sweet 21,000 word novella takes place during the time of Debra Holland’s BENEATH MONTANA’S SKY.
Hopefully this little ol’ novella will tide you over until the next Heroes of the West story on November 2!
If you'd like to read the first three stories, you can start with:
The Cowboy's Secret (Heroes of the West #1)
The Rancher's New Bride (Heroes of the West #2)
The Outlaw's Promise (Heroes of the West #3)
Happy reading!

My review:

The Scoundrel's Inconvenient Bride is a sweet, feel good, old fashioned romance that will leave you with a smile on your lips.
The footloose and fancy free fella that doesn’t believe in the institution of marriage is tricked into marrying an innocent. That doesn’t mean they have to stay married. Till of course he does.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

Escaping Indigo (Escaping Indigo #1) by Eli Lang

Blurb:

Micah thought he’d always be in a band. All he ever wanted was to play drums and make great music, but when his best friend and bandmate passes away, Micah is left adrift. The thing that’s always lifted him up is now a reminder of everything he’s lost.
In an attempt to put his life back together, Micah takes a job as roadie for his favorite band, Escaping Indigo. He’s always admired the lead singer, Bellamy. On stage, Bellamy is confident, glittery, and radiant. But as the two grow closer, Micah realizes that in person, Bellamy is quiet, introspective, and a little uncertain. And that’s the person Micah is falling for.
Micah is determined to know all of Bellamy, both the rock star side and the side hidden from the audience, the side that creates music that touches Micah’s heart. Bellamy has secrets of his own, though, things he doesn’t want to share with anyone. And trying to uncover Bellamy’s truths might be the thing that ends up pushing him away.

My review:

m/m
Escaping Indigo is a gentle sweet if angsty rock and roll romance. Micah is suffering from a loss and has had his world turned upside down. Bellamy may be a rock star on the rise but he has problems of his own. Watching these two fall for each other was sweet and sometimes painful but you just know it is going to work in the end.
I would call this a young adult book. I fell for the guys and the band and am looking forward to future installments.

Honor (Bad Boy Homecoming #4) by Kennedy Layne

Blurb:
A high school reunion is about to get down and dirty and a whole lot more complicated in this new erotic romance from USA Today Bestselling Author Kennedy Layne.

Derek Spencer hadn’t even bothered to RSVP to his Catfish Creek’s high school reunion. He’d been too busy fighting a war in Afghanistan in his capacity as a Marine and wouldn’t even be in the States during the event. Unfortunately, one emergency phone call from his mother changed everything.

Tessa Daniels had been voted most likely to do everything back in high school. She somehow didn’t think that included acquiring her very own stalker at the relatively young age of twenty-eight. It had stopped being simply annoying after someone broke into her house, invading her privacy. Now, she was actually in fear for her life.

Derek’s mother feels terrible that her son has spent almost every waking hour at the hospital, watching over his recovering father. She sets out—and succeeds—in arranging for Derek and Tessa to attend their high school reunion together. Neither one of them expected sparks to fly or memories of long-lost crushes to emerge, but they are not only faced with their newfound passion…they must also confront the person trying to extinguish their chance to rekindle the flames of past desires.

My review:
Honor (Bad Boy Homecoming #4) by Kennedy Layne is a sweet high school reunion story with a bit of a twist. Cardiac care nurse Tessa Daniels is being stalked and it is freaking her out and is escalating. But she is trying not to let it keep her from living her life. Derek Spencer is a Marine and wasn’t planning on even being in the US for his high school reunion but is home on emergency leave because his dad had a heart attack. His mom sets him up with Tessa for the reunion. As they get reacquainted Derek is determined to find out who her stalker is and stop them before someone gets hurt. Danger, excitement and love.

Prom Queen (Bad Boy Homecoming #3) by Katee Robert

Blurb:
A high school reunion is about to get down and dirty and a whole lot more complicated in this new erotic romance from NYT Bestselling Author Katee Robert.
Jake Davis had it all in high school—a scholarship to his college of choice, a promising football career, and the gorgeous prom queen for a girlfriend. And then he lost it all when he was injured right after graduation. Ten years later, he’s mostly made his peace with that, and now runs a company that provides women with dates for special events. Imagine his surprise when he discovers that the ex who left him in the dust needs a fake boyfriend for their high school reunion…
Jessica Jackson used to be the mean girl to end all mean girls. But life didn’t turn out like she’d thought it would, and now she’s twenty-eight, single, and works as an insurance agent to A-listers instead of being the A-lister like she’d always dreamed. She can’t go back to her home town and admit just how thoroughly she’s failed, so she lets her friends set her up with a fake date for the reunion.
The second Jessica realizes that her fake date is Jake, she tries to call the whole thing off. The problem is the chemistry between them is even hotter now than it was when they were teenagers. Against her better judgment she lets herself get drawn into Jake’s arms again—and into his bed. But time doesn’t heal all wounds—sometimes, it actually makes them worse—and if Jessica and Jake can’t learn to forgive each other, their second chance might not last the weekend.

My review:
Does the “Mean Girl” get a second chance? Jessica Jackson was the Prom Queen, Homecoming Queen and head cheerleader. She was dating Jake, the guy most likely to make it to the NFL. When he got injured she bailed and headed for the California coast. Now it is ten years later and she is determined to make amends. But that doesn’t mean it is going to be easy. I thoroughly enjoyed this second chance romance. It was nice to see the other side of the “mean girl” and to know that the high school characters can and do change.

Trouble (Bad Boy Homecoming #2) by Avery Flynn

Blurb:
A high school reunion is about to get down and dirty and a whole lot more complicated in this new romance from USA Today bestselling author Avery Flynn.
Brains and a badass attitude. That’s all troublemaker Leah Camacho took with her when she left Catfish Creek. She’d promised herself she’d never go back, but when the invite to her tenth high school reunion arrived along with the chance to show everyone who doubted her what a success she’s made of herself, she couldn’t resist. However, when she discovers a 15-carat, stolen diamond in her rental car’s glove box, there’s only one man she can turn to for help—the same sexy, stubborn domineering man who’d smashed her heart all those years ago.
Sheriff Drew Jackson knew a long time ago that Leah Camacho was nothing but trouble and has sworn to never get caught up in her again—no matter how damn sexy she is or how badly he’d failed to forget her. But, when the woman who test drove his heart right into a concrete wall rolls into Catfish Creek with some serious bad guys on her tail, it’s up to him to keep her safe—even if that means guarding her hot bod 24/7 without giving into temptation or losing his mind.

My review:
Leah Camacho is smart, sexy and a magnet for trouble. She has come a long way from the girl she was in high school.
Sheriff Drew Jackson hooked up with Leah one summer after Grad school and then left her with nothing but a text. Now she is back in town for her high school reunion and is still sexy as sin and a whole world of trouble.
I laughed myself sick at the idea of the uptight Texas lawman and the Colorado pot dealer. This may be only 154 pages (according to Amazon) but there is a lot happening and you won’t want to miss a page of it.

And now there's a new ghost haunting Zara, making her do the strangest things, like gardening.
Zara's back yard is starting to resemble the lush lawns of a stately manor, yet not all is calm and serene in Wisteria. There's been an unexplained death, and someone close to the Riddle family is the prime suspect. It's time for Zara to put down her garden spade and trade it for a sharper weapon. Or, at the very least, a bigger shovel.
WATCHFUL WISTERIA is a complete, full-length novel in the hit series with millions of Kindle Unlimited pagereads!
WATCHFUL WISTERIA is the fourth book in the Wisteria Witches series, which can be read in any order but will be more fun this way:
#1 - Wisteria Witches
#2 - Wicked Wisteria
#3 - Wisteria Wonders
#4 - Watchful Wisteria
#5 - coming soon!
If you love author Angela Pepper's wildly funny characters, be sure to check out her other cozy murder mystery series: STORMY DAY MYSTERIES, RESTLESS SPIRITS OF THE SOUTHWEST, and more!

My review:
Watchful Wisteria is the fourth book in the series and in my humble opinion the best yet. Our fledgling witch, Zara, is becoming more comfortable with her gifts. But she is still dealing with her job, her teen daughter, her Aunt and mentor Zinnia, and the assorted characters in town both supernatural and not, and the occasional ghost. In this installment we get to learn more about Zara’s past and solve a mystery that will turn your head around. I love the quirky characters and the authors imagination makes this series unique.

A SEAL's Courage (Military Match #1) by J.M. Stewart

Blurb:
A sizzling new series about three friends looking for love-and the sexy SEALs who are ready to fulfill their craziest fantasies.

He's a man on a mission.
Navy SEAL Trent Lawson isn't a man to back down from a challenge. Ever since he opened his eyes in that army hospital to learn the men from his unit were gone, Trent has been determined to live life in their honor. Even if that means facing his most terrifying mission yet . . . dating.

She's done playing games.
Lauren Hayes has standards. In fact, she's got an entire list of them. There's only ever been one man to come close to making the cut-Trent Lawson. Except her best friend's too-sexy-for-his-own-good brother is strictly off-limits.

When Trent and Lauren find themselves matched up by a dating service, the chemistry between them is nothing short of explosive. They both know getting involved is a huge mistake, but life is too short to walk away from something this good.

My review:
A SEAL's Courage should be renamed A SEAL's Courage and the courage of the women who love them. We expect SEAL’s to be strong and former SEAL Trent Lawson is fighting hard to recover from his time in the Navy. Nineteen months out and he is still suffering from PTSD, night terrors, the loss of his friend and his K9 partner and dealing with the scars on his body. He hasn’t been with a woman since his wife sent him a “Dear John” 2 years ago. He is working and his family is encouraging him to rejoin life. Get out. Date. Get laid. But the one woman who interests him is off limits because she is his baby sisters best friend.
Baker Lauren Hayes is a 28 year old virgin. Her mother was a serial dater and didn’t know who Lauren’s father was. Lauren is determined not to be like her mother. When her mother died Lauren was taken in by a religious woman who taught her that sex was for the marriage bed. So here she is a 28 year old virgin. Her friends set her up with a dating service Military Match and it sets her up with her best friends brother Trent Lawson, the guy she has lusted after since she was a kid.
I enjoyed watching Lauren stretch her wings and stand up for herself and what she wanted. She has been helping Trent recover and deserves a shot at happiness. This is a strong, well-written story filled with laughter and sorrow and true joy.

Gork, the Teenage Dragon by Gabe Hudson

Blurb:
Gork isn't like the other dragons at WarWings Military Academy. He has a gigantic heart, two-inch horns, and an occasional problem with fainting. His nickname is Weak Sauce and his Will to Power ranking is Snacklicious--the lowest in his class. But Gork is determined not to let any of this hold him back as he embarks on the most important mission of his life: tonight, on the eve of his high school graduation, he must ask a female dragon to be his queen. If she says yes, they'll go off to conquer a foreign planet together. If she says no, Gork becomes a slave.
Vying with Jocks, Nerds, Mutants, and Multi-Dimensioners to find his mate, Gork encounters an unforgettable cast of friends and foes, including Dr. Terrible, the mad scientist; Fribby, a robot dragon obsessed with death; and Metheldra, a healer specializing in acupuncture with swords. But finally it is Gork's biggest perceived weakness, his huge heart, that will guide him through his epic quest and help him reach his ultimate destination: planet Earth.

My review:
Gork, the Teenage Dragon by Gabe Hudson is a quirky, tongue in cheek, sometimes angsty, all around good read. Our hero, Gork, isn’t much like the other dragons at his school. He is weaker, his horns are smaller, and his heart is way too big. He is a really fast flyer and it has kept him alive this long.
I enjoyed this fun story. It brought me back to high school and feeling the misfit. There is a terrific set of supporting characters who round out this tale. I recommend for anyone trying to get their tweener – teen son to read.

Two Nights by Kathy Reichs

Blurb:

#1 New York Times bestselling author Kathy Reichs steps beyond her classic Temperance Brennan series in a new standalone thriller featuring a smart, tough, talented heroine whose thirst for justice stems from her own dark past.

Meet Sunday Night, a woman with physical and psychological scars, and a killer instinct. . . .

Sunnie has spent years running from her past, burying secrets and building a life in which she needs no one and feels nothing. But a girl has gone missing, lost in the chaos of a bomb explosion, and the family needs Sunnie's help.

Is the girl dead? Did someone take her? If she is out there, why doesn't she want to be found? It's time for Sunnie to face her own demons because they just might lead her to the truth about what really happened all those years ago.

My review:

Sunday Night is damaged but not totally broken. Former military and former cop and survivor of a horrific childhood Sunnie knows about nightmares. Now she is being asked to find a young woman whose plight she can relate to. But will the memories destroy her before she can save the girl?
Two Nights by Kathy Reichs is a well written intriguing tale of pain, survival and facing your deepest fears. In events that could’ve been ripped straight from the headlines this story brings you darkness and light and all the shades of gray in between. This is an incredible story that will keep you thinking long past the last page.

Some Kind of Hero (Troubleshooters #17) by Suzanne Brockmann

Blurb:
Navy men don’t come tougher than Lieutenant Peter Greene. Every day he whips hotshot SEAL wannabes into elite fighters. So why can’t he handle one fifteen-year-old girl? His ex’s death left him a single dad overnight, and very unprepared. Though he can’t relate to an angsty teen, he can at least keep Maddie safe—until the day she disappears. Though Pete’s lacking in fatherly intuition, his instinct for detecting danger is razor sharp. Maddie’s in trouble. Now he needs the Troubleshooters team at his back, along with an unconventional ally.
Romance writer Shayla Whitman never expected to be drawn into a real-world thriller—or to meet a hero who makes her pulse pound. Action on the page is one thing. Actually living it is another story. Shay’s not as bold as her heroines, but she’s a mother. She sees the panic in her new neighbor’s usually fearless blue eyes—and knows there’s no greater terror for a parent than having a child at risk. It’s an ordeal Shay won’t let Pete face alone. She’s no highly trained operative, but she’s smart, resourceful, and knows what makes teenagers tick.
Still, working alongside Pete has its own perils—like letting the heat between them rise out of control. Intimate emotions could mean dangerous, even deadly, consequences for their mission. No matter what, they must be on top of their game, and playing for keeps . . . or else Pete’s daughter may be gone for good.

My review:
OH how I’ve missed Suzanne Brockmann’s SEALs. This book shows she hasn’t lost a step. I love that the characters are older yet still sexy as hell. I enjoyed that a 15 year old girl can fluster a super competent SEAL Lieutenant. I really enjoyed single mother, romance writer Shayla Whitman. She was smart, sexy and comfortable in her own skin. It was great catching up with Izzy and the gang including some new guys.
Fans are going to want to pick this one up.

Dropout (Bad Boy Homecoming #1) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:
A high school reunion is about to get down and dirty and a whole lot more complicated in this new erotic romance from NYT Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan. Grayson Cleary left town before graduation day and never looked back. Most people back home pegged him as a dropout. Over time, he's worked to make something of his life and leave his past behind, so when his ten-year reunion comes up, he has no intention of attending. When his best friend begs him to go, Grayson finds himself confronted with a past he'd rather forget and the one woman he's always craved.
Kate St. Dalton had everything when she left her hometown. Not only was she Valedictorian with a full scholarship, but she was also engaged to the boy of her dreams. Then, life threw a wrench in her plans, and she had to find a way to live the new life fate handed her. The last thing she needs is the hot boy from high school returning to town as the sexy man of her dreams.
When the two take a chance and use the reunion week to burn up the sheets, they'll have to remember that it's only for a few nights--not for a lifetime. And decide if what they have is just a fling...or something far more than a mere reunion.

My review:
Dropout is a sweet tale of second chances. Grayson Cleary had a high school life that will bring you to tears but has left it all behind and built something for himself.
Kate St. Dalton was the high school Valedictorian with a full ride that was cut short by some bad decisions on her part.
When these two meet again at their high school reunion possibilities become apparent if they will only reach for them.
This is a sweet and sexy tale that will leave you with a smile on your lips and in your heart.

James (Hot Footman Secrets Book 1) by Cheryl Dragon

Blurb:
Even in post WWI England, being gay can get a man thrown in prison. Colonel Fred Hemley, the youngest son of an Earl survived the war with serious enough injuries to end his military career. In honor of Fred’s heroics, the Earl gave his son a small estate called Sherrington Park. The remote rustic old place was only suitable for hunting and fishing parties.
Fred has a plan to help the wealthy and powerful as well as the servants who prefer other men. He just needs the help of James, a footman fired by the Earl. A skilled valet and footman, James was caught with another man. James blamed the horror of war for his bad behavior and the Earl showed mercy, not turning James over to the police. Free but dismissed with no reference, James has nothing to lose joining Fred in his scheme. Nothing--except his heart and freedom.

My review:
m/m
This story about tore my heart out. The author is sympathetic to her characters and you ache at the injustice of it all. There is the separation of the classes and the fact that homosexuality is still against the law in 1919 England. Colonel Fred Hemley is the son of an Earl who has lost a leg to the war. His father is aware he is gay and has pensioned him off to a small property where he won’t be an embarrassment to the family. Fred is determined to do good so he has hatched a scheme to help gay men both upper and lower caste. He is going to train gay men to service, footmen, valets, coachmen and the like so that folks can be comfortable in their own homes. Key to his plan is James. James, a footman fired by Fred’s father for being gay, is well versed in the arts a servant needs to know and the fact that Fred is in love with him has no small part in his decision. James is no fool and is afraid to hope, and to trust. Life has taught him not to take chances. Read this beautiful story to find out if Fred gets his school off the ground and if James will come around.

Magic and Mayhem: The Witched Away Bride (The Witch Singer Book 3) by Heather Long

Magic and Mayhem: The Witched Away Bride (The Witch Singer Book 3) by Heather Long

Blurb:
Once upon a time in Assjacket…
My story began when a vampire I dubbed Mr. Nasty-Face sent me on a crazy, impossible task to fix his mis-Turnment of a certain succubus. Easy, right? Yeah, then I ran into the skunk who would change my life (and spray me, but let’s forget that memory). Once I got to Assjacket, well, let’s just say I ended up with the teenager who wasn’t—a kind of happily-while-you’re-here scenario. Now my teen is a grown woman with a Highlander for a lover, and I’m left to deal with Gigi. She wants me to find her a happily-for-real-ever-after and I’ve still got to solve my problems.
So to be clear, all I have to do is undo the unbreakable, pair the unpairable, and keep my man happy. One out of three isn’t bad. I’m a witch singer, not a dang miracle worker.
Just sing at a couple of weddings, the Baba Yaga said, it’ll be fun, she said, it’ll solve all your problems…except no weddings are possible with the witched away brides.

My review:
The fun conclusion to the The Witch Singer. I have giggled my way through the The Witch Singer, Bridget's Witch's Diary, and now The Witched Away Bride in which Bridget has to up her game. She is trying to sing brides and their grooms to everlasting happiness but the brides keep disappearing. She still has no clue how to answer the big bad vampire who wants to keep her indebted to him for eternity. But the skunk man still loves her. With a little help from Baba Yaga all will be revealed amid laughter and an occasional groaner.

Indigo by Charlaine Harris, Christopher Golden, Jonathan Maberry, Kelley Armstrong, Kat Richardson, Seanan McGuire, Tim Lebbon, Cherie Priest , James A. Moore, Mark Morris

Indigo by Charlaine Harris, Christopher Golden, Jonathan Maberry, Kelley Armstrong, Kat Richardson, Seanan McGuire, Tim Lebbon, Cherie Priest , James A. Moore, Mark Morris

Blurb:
Investigative reporter Nora Hesper spends her nights cloaked in shadows. As Indigo, she's become an urban myth, a brutal vigilante who can forge darkness into weapons and travel across the city by slipping from one patch of shadow to another. Her primary focus both as Nora and as Indigo has become a murderous criminal cult called the Children of Phonos. Children are being murdered in New York, and Nora is determined to make it stop, even if that means Indigo must eliminate every member. But in the aftermath of a bloody battle, a dying cultist makes claims that cause Indigo to question her own origin and memories.
Nora's parents were killed when she was nineteen years old. She took the life insurance money and went off to explore the world, leading to her becoming a student of meditation and strange magic in a mountaintop monastery in Nepal...a history that many would realize sounds suspiciously like the origins of several comic book characters. As Nora starts to pick apart her memory, it begins to unravel. Her parents are dead, but the rest is a series of lies. Where did she get the power inside her?

In a brilliant collaboration by New York Times and critically acclaimed coauthors Charlaine Harris, Christopher Golden, Kelley Armstrong, Jonathan Maberry, Kat Richardson, Seanan McGuire, Tim Lebbon, Cherie Priest, James Moore, and Mark Morris join forces to bring you a crime-solving novel like you've never read before.

My review:
Indigo is a quirky collaboration by ten of the best authors out there. Action, adventure, and mystery will keep you enthralled as Investigative reporter Nora Hesper discovers herself and her past. There are some violent scenes and some emotionally painful scenes but the story is strong and keeps you wanting to know what happens next.
