A Geek Girl's Guide to Murder by Julie Anne Lindsey

Blurb:
IT manager Mia Connors is up to her tortoiseshell glasses in technical drama when a glitch in the Horseshoe Falls email system disrupts security and sends errant messages to residents of the gated community. The snafu’s timing couldn’t be worse—Renaissance Faire season is in full swing and Mia’s family’s business relies on her presence.

Mia doesn’t have time to hunt down a computer hacker. Her best friend has disappeared, and she finds another of her friends murdered—in her office. When the hunky new head of Horseshoe Falls security identifies Mia as the prime suspect, her anxiety level registers on the Richter scale.

Eager to clear her name, Mia moves into action to locate her missing buddy and find out who killed their friend. But her quick tongue gets her into trouble with more than the new head of security. When Mia begins receiving threats, the killer makes it clear that he's closer than she’d ever imagined.

My review:
A Geek Girl's Guide to Murder is a fun mystery with twists and turns and a fantastic cast of quirky characters. Mia is strong and savvy and cute as a button. This book kept me up way past my bedtime turning pages. This is the first I’ve read by this author but you can bet it won’t be the last.

A Little Harmless Rumor by Melissa Schroeder

Blurb:
Little Harmless Rumor

Rumors are swirling about the fall of Sean Kaheaku, but he’s ignoring them. Six months earlier, he had his entire world turned upside down and he still doesn’t know what to do about it. He retreated to his home in Hawaii to recover and reassess what he wants to do now that he’s been burned as a security agent.

Now lovers, Randy and Jamie arrive in Honolulu to find the lover they once knew is now even more secretive and belligerent. He refuses their help, but they are both too stubborn to leave—especially since they sense something dangerous is stalking Sean.

As the three lovers spend more time together, old feelings float to the surface and the twosome becomes a threesome. Nights are even hotter than the Hawaiian sun, and all three lovers find the connection exciting and overwhelming. But, the trouble is still out there and arrives intent on destroying Sean and everything he loves—including Randy and Jaime.

Warning: This book contains three spies who like to play games in and out of the bedroom, hot m/m loving, more m/m/f loving, dangerous games, lies, a few misdemeanors, and love scenes so hot, even most Addicts will be shocked. There is also a group of Alpha males with badges who will have their own series, a heroine who knows how to handle her two men, and two men who know exactly what she likes. As usual, ice and towels should be handy to help you through the book.

My review:
Sexy spy Sean Kaheaku has secrets. The two people he has given his heart to have rejected him so he is on his own. But when Randy and Jamie show up can he trust them with his secrets and his heart? Does he even want to? His life is in danger and he needs their help but he doesn’t know if his heart can handle losing them again. Twists, turns and lots of hot make up sex make this a wonderful addition to the ALH series.
I will admit to being shocked at how far Sean had fallen after the preludes. My heart just hurt for him. I was really glad that Randy and Jamie decided they needed Sean as much as he needs them.

Corporal Domination by Cassandre Dayne

Blurb:
Dominating a powerful man isn’t easy…

Sometimes corporal punishment is needed

Kade Thompson was sick and tired of working sixty plus hour weeks. After all he was only an accountant, not a surgeon. For many he was considered powerful and a sought after catch, yet he hadn’t obtained all he hungered for. However, earning a six-figure income had allowed him to indulge in his every desire, including toys and rather kinky bouts of sin. He also enjoyed an on again off again push and shove relationship with his boss, Trevor Willis. While the sex was passionate, he craved being dominated by the six foot six God and Trevor didn’t seem interested. Tired of playing games, he was ready to break off their relationship until an invitation to meet for a drink at The Peeping Hole, a mysterious and very exclusive club, had him more than curious.

When he found out the club offered every aspect of kink, he was breathless with excitement. As Kade waited for Trevor’s arrival, he was given an offer he couldn’t refuse and one that might sate his every craving – if he would submit to the man behind the mask. Unfortunately what went on behind the hallowed doors was required to stay behind them. But could they keep up their end of the bargain and one forged in a touch of black magic? Only Alexander knows. Ssshhh… No peeping.

I am Alexander – a teacher, a scoundrel, a voyeur and a true entrepreneur. In my world there’s little left to the imagination. That is if you dare to taste what only I can offer. Welcome to The Peeping Hole, where every fantasy you’ve ever desired will come true. Leave your inhibitions at the door and join us. But you must remember, whatever happens here stays here and trust me, I will know…

My review:
Mm, ir, D/s
Corporal Domination is a short intense book. Kade and Trevor have come to a crossroads in their relationship. Kade wants more than an occasional hook up with his hunky boss. He fantasizes about submission. What he doesn’t now is that Trevor wants to fulfill his fantasy and redefine their relationship even to coming out of the closet. Will Kade give him the chance to prove his intentions? This is a fast paced very sexy read.

Southern Shifters: Shiftin' Sassy: Derria Pryde (Kindle Worlds Novella) (Pryde Ranch Shifters Book 4) by T.J. Michaels

Southern Shifters: Shiftin' Sassy: Derria Pryde (Kindle Worlds Novella) (Pryde Ranch Shifters Book 4) by T.J. Michaels

Blurb:
Derria, like her cousins at Pryde Ranch, is trained to take down the worst shifters imaginable. After chasing her bounty into the Tail of the Dragon, she discovers that this mountain gem is shifter central where they've managed to keep themselves off the world's radar...until now.

Lakota Phillips keeps his status as a S.W.A.T. agent under wraps. No one from Clan Gunn in the Dragon knows what he does when he's away from this place. But when a fellow agent shows up for reasons that make sense to no one, what is he to do?

But that may have to wait. Kerr Blackwood, the rogue they're searching for, is a shifter from Lakota's neck of the woods. And suddenly, Derria's hunt doesn't quite pass the smell test.

Warning: This book contains hot alphas, mating heat and women who stroke their guns. Bring it on, baby!

My review:
If you like your heroines strong, sassy and with an issue or two, as I do, you will adore this story as much as I did. I will say that you will enjoy it more if you’ve read any of the other Pryde Ranch Shifters books as this book assumes you know their world and rules. Derria is on a hunt but something stinks. The hunt takes her to the Tail of the Dragon area in the Southern Appalachian Mountains where she meets up with Lakota Phillips who is also a S.W.A.T. agent but knows nothing about her hunt.  He does know that she is his future, his mate and he will do what it takes to convince her.  This is a wonderful book that shows that just because a woman falls in love doesn’t mean she loses brain power.

Beauty and the Werewolf (San Francisco Wolf Pack #2) by Kristin Miller

Blurb:
This lone wolf falls hard...for his enemy.

Unmated werewolves don't normally live past three hundred years old...and billionaire Jack MacGrath is cutting it close. Sure, he has almost everything-the respect of his peers, a mansion in San Francisco, a private jet, and fast cars. But without a mate, Jack's in trouble. Then he sees her. Gorgeous, proud...and his enemy.

Isabelle Connelly is good at hiding things from her father. Like her success as a painter, or the incredibly intense attraction she has to Jack MacGrath. After all, she's royalty and falling for anyone lesser-to say nothing of a rival pack-would be, er, unseemly. Now she must choose between her duty to her family and her pack...or her perfect fated mate.

My review:
More like Romeo & Juliet than Beauty and the Beast.  Werewolf Jack MacGrath is feeling the effects of being unmated. He is dying and finds his fated mate just in time but will Isabelle Connelly allow it to happen. Her father is dying and Isabelle Connelly is trying to connect with her father. All her life she has known she would be the next alpha and has been told that the MacGrath family is no good. How is she to reconcile that with the feelings she has for Jack? I really liked Isabelle. She is smart and sassy and put into a no win situation. Who should she choose past or future? It is a fun ride watching her choose.

The Mechanic's Mate (The Diesel War Series, #1) by Mikea Howard

Blurb:
Abused and on the run, Sadie flees through the woods. For the first time in her life, she craves the blissful silence of nature. Her sire and mate is a monster who hid his inner evil all too well. Her skills as a mechanic now useless, intolerant to the noise and pollution of the city’s diesel engines thanks to her new werewolf status, Sadie’s only hope is the ex-pack of the monster she escaped. But will they accept the dieselhead mate of a rogue?

Domek, the Blue Wolf alpha, has caught the scent of the rogue he’s sworn to hunt down. But he’s shocked to find it attached to a frail, damaged city girl, the most beautiful creature he has ever seen. The desire to take care of her is fierce . . . unexplainable.

How can he protect a woman who has tied the fate of her mortality to the life of a rogue he must destroy?

My review:
FANTASTIC! The Mechanic’s Mate is the first in a series and a debut novel by the team of Mikea Howard. This book is filled with twists and turns and a heck of a romance. This is a vivid world with Diesel Punk, Shifters and Weres. The secondary characters rocked. There is some BDSM and some sweet loving. I was absolutely blown away and can’t wait for the next installment. You will want to pick this one up. I did.

River Wolf (Wolves of Willow Bend #7) by Heather Long

Blurb:
Brett Dalton, Alpha of Hudson River, isolated himself from his pack mates after one betrayed him. The once, easygoing Alpha has become taciturn, remote and unforgiving. His pack worries for him, but they too have suffered a devastating blow. When several members leave to join Three Rivers, the pack faces the threat of dissolution until Brett's best friend and Lone Wolf, Luc Danes returns to Hudson River accompanied by a beautiful young human—or is she? Something about the woman consumes Brett. Has Luc come home to help or to take the pack from Brett?

Colby Jensen wrapped up thousands of hours of community service working at the hospital in Maine when an injured Luc Danes rolled through the door. The impossible patient drove the nurses crazy, but when Danes offered her money no strings attached to drive him to New York, she agreed. The last thing she expected was to arrive in the small Westchester County town and to meet the craziest collection of residents—especially the devastatingly sexy Brett Dalton. Part of her wants to hit the road, the rest wants to make him smile and he keeps making excuses for her to stay.

Then she sees the wolves...and is exposed to a world she can barely imagine. When Brett discovers a secret about her, nothing will be the same again. Now she will find herself torn between a world she isn't sure she can understand and the man who has taken her heart hostage...

My review:
A terrific addition to the series and a great start to a new arc. Brett Dalton, Alpha of Hudson River, is damaged inside and out. A wolf he trusted betrayed him and threw him into a bonfire.  He has the burn scars to prove it. But the real damage is to his confidence. Who can he trust when he can trust himself. His pack is suffering right along with him. Colby Jensen has made mistakes but has done her time. She was born to help people and if anyone needs her help it is Brett and his pack. Can these two overcome their own issues long enough to help each other out and maybe find love along the way. Find out in this fast paced well written book by the fantastic Heather Long. This book takes us out of Willow Bend but their influence is felt.  If you haven’t read The Wolves of Willow Bend books yet I recommend them highly but this can be read without it.

Under the Lights (Tempting Signs Book 6) by Rebecca Royce

Blurb:
12 Authors. 12 Zodiac Signs. 1 Explosive Series. What seductive, contemporary romance will you find today? VIRGO.

If Virgo Teirney Mitchell could run her personal life as smoothly as she stage-managed the hit Broadway show Loopy, she’d be a happy woman. With her grandmother dying, she needs movie-star Ian MacKenzie to be on time for his performances and to stop turning her ordered work world into chaos every night.
Movie star Ian Mackenzie has decided to make some changes in his life and the first one is to get Teirney to stop treating him like a pest and see him as the man she wants by her side. However dating someone in the spotlight isn’t for everyone—especially for one who has spent her life hiding behind the curtain.
Despite the odds, their passion burns as the show must go on. Can these two see there is love to be had both under and away from the lights?

My review:
I LOVE Rebecca Royce! No matter what she writes she creates a world so real you feel like you could find it on a map. We were introduced peripherally to Ian MacKenzie through his sister in Finally Found You (Tempting Signs #4) by Carrie Ann Ryan. Ian is doing a limited run in a play on Broadway and is intrigued by the stage manager Teirney Mitchell. Teirney along with most of female America and some males thinks Ian is hot. What most folks don’t know is he is a pain in her ass. She needs her schedules. Ian treats them like they are suggestions. Can these two opposites ever get together? Rebecca Royce finds a believable way and you are in for a fun ride.

Prelude to a Rumor, Part Two by Melissa Schroeder

Blurb:
Former SEAL Randy Young isn’t looking to settle down. He just got out of a bad relationship with his share of emotional scars. When he and Sean Kaheaku team up on a surveillance job, he isn’t opposed to a little fun while they work.

Sean learned the hard way that workplace romance doesn’t work out. Hell, hookups are always risky. But, when they find themselves on the run in a foreign country, lines get crossed, and both of them discover more about each other than they ever expected.

This is a prelude to the full-length book A Little Harmless Rumor and has a happy for now ending. It is NOT a serial and it is not required to read this book to understand the relationships in the final book.

My review:
A Little Harmless Rumor is an upcoming book that tells us the story of Sean Kaheaku and his former lovers Randy and Jamie. Prelude to a Rumor, Part One tells us of his first mission with Jamie and Prelude to a Rumor, Part Two tells us of his first mission with Randy. Neither are necessary to enjoy A Little Harmless Rumor but they help pass the time till it hits the shelves.  Randy and Sean are smoking hot together and leave me wanting A Little Harmless Rumor that much more.

Southern Shifters: Impawsible (Buchanan Clan #1) by Celia Kyle

Blurb:
What happens when the prey becomes the predator? Bethany has no idea, she’s enjoying being pounced on too much.

Bethany Buchanan is a wererabbit among the werelions. At least she used to be with the werelions. Now she’s in Deal’s Gap, Tennessee hoping to create a home where she doesn’t have to hide (much) and can be herself (mostly). The neutral zone—where hybrids and unwanted abound—seems to be the perfect place for her. Her old werelion clan—don’t ask how that happened—may not have wanted her (or known what to do with her) but no one in the small town cares that she’s prey. Wait. There’s a hotter than hot and sexy as all get out, tiger-wolf hybrid (who has this habit of purring around her) is all about caring. He wants to eat her… in a very naughty way. He loves every odd inch of her wererabbit body and is willing to do anything to make her happy. Why? Because apparently Bethany is his mate and he’s never letting her go.

A mating between a rabbit and a tiger-wolf hybrid? Impossible? Nah, it’s totally pawsible.

My review:
A short fun romp in the woods. Bethany Buchanan is a white wererabbit who was raised by werelions. She is striking out on her own and moving to Deal’s Gap, Tennessee where she meets tiger-wolf hybrid Carter who turns out to be her mate. The fun is not only in the chase it heats up when they catch each other.  This book had me laughing out loud. If you love the absurd you have to get this book.

Uncaged (Black Hills Wolves #25) by Katalina Leon

Blurb:
Mitchell Waya was born to rage in a cage. Every time he competes in a mixed martial arts match, he brings two secret weapons to the ring—a raging heart and the blood of a wolf. When the beast within explodes, no man stands a chance. Scaling the heights of an international career, he’s not prepared for the tragedy and scandal that overtakes him.

At fourteen, Christy was abducted and abused by a brutal cult of survivalist. In a brave act of defiance, she attempts to escape but finds herself facing execution in a dark alley. When Mitchell appears from the shadows like an avenging angel to rescue her, she catches a glimpse of the protective wolf’s fury. They form a brief but intense bond but then Fate pushes them apart.

Four years pass. Fortunes change. Concerned about Mitchell’s welfare, Christy reaches out, but her kind deed puts her squarely in a killer’s sights, and only the courage of a wolf can save her.

My review:
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC from the author/publisher for an honest review. I will say upfront that I think this is a terrific addition to the series. Each book can be read stand alone.
The author grabbed me from her dedication on. It is sweet to think that love conquers all and if it can these two characters need it more than most.  Christy may have the strongest heart of any female character I’ve read in a long time. She has come back from a horrible past to seek out the one who gave her the opportunity to do it. Mitchell has made some poor choices but saving Christy wasn’t one of them.
This book is filled with love and hope and will be read over and over.

Prelude to a Rumor, Part One (Harmless Preludes Book 3) by Melissa Schroeder

Blurb:
Sean Kaheaku is at the top of his game. He’s been trained by one of the best in the spy biz and that definitely comes with perks. One of those is working with Jamie Alexander. The sexy British spy definitely tempts him in the worst way.

Jaime has heard enough about Sean to know he is considered one of the best in the field. Of course, he has slept with most of his partners—both male and female. Usually, she wants nothing to do with men like him, but something about the sexy Hawaiian intrigues her.

Their mission is easy. Get in, plant the listening device, get out. But one misstep on their assignment has them pushing the limits of their undercover roles in the most delicious way.

This is a prelude to the full-length book A Little Harmless Rumor and has a happy for now ending. It is NOT a serial and it is not required to read this book to understand the relationships in the final book.

My review:
I would read Melissa Schroeder’s grocery list. So why wouldn’t I read this short hot tale of Sean Kaheaku and Jamie Alexander’s first gig together. Sean is hot, cocky and damn good at what he does. Jamie is a woman in a mans world and just starting a new job. She doesn’t want to fuck it up but Sean is a force of nature with a lot to teach her.  This story whets your appetite for the  full-length book A Little Harmless Rumor. As always a glass of ice water, a fan and perhaps a towel is recommended.

Southern Shifters: Lion for Her (Kindle Worlds) by Brandy Walker

Blurb:
Marlowe Templeton, known to most as Maddie, is going through a break-up. The man she thought was her mate, actually wasn’t. While that should break her heart, and it did a little, she’s more upset about losing her best friend and confidant, her ex-boyfriend’s twin brother Van. When the opportunity to escape town and help her cousin out at her bakery comes around, she jumps at it. A little time away to get her head back on straight seems like the perfect way to get some distance.

Van Bowman thought all he could have since the day Maddie unwittingly picked his twin brother over him, was friendship. He’s had to love her quietly from a distance, and find comfort in being her confidant. Now that his brother has broken up with her, Van is ready to claim the woman that should have been his from the beginning. He made a mistake not telling her how he felt, and he aims to fix that. He’ll do anything to convince her she belongs to him, even chase after her and face off against her new protective friends.

My review:
Lion for Her is a fast paced shifter love story that I devoured in one sitting.  It starts with our heroine cussin and fussin because she was dumped. She won’t miss the lion but she will miss her bff his twin brother.  She doesn’t know how to deal with that so she takes a little vacay to help her cousin out at her bakery and get her head on straight. This is when the fun begins.  Our hero has sat on the sidelines watching his brother with the ligeress he knows is his mate. But the choice has to be hers. When she is set free he is determined to win her for himself.  Lion for Her is a sexy fun read I highly recommend.

An Alpha's Choice (Talon Pack #2) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:
Brynn Brentwood has spent the whole of her life protecting the Talon Pack through terrors only she will ever know. She’s never asked for more in life other than to live to take her next breath and to ensure her family is safe. Regardless of her selfless wishes and the atrocities the former Alpha committed, she has always known that fate would provide for her as it had countless others. Fate is what has carried her through with one exception—upon meeting the one wolf who could be hers, he doesn’t feel their bond.

Finn Jamenson has been broken more than once, left beaten and half dead—and that was before he was an adult and Heir of the Redwood Pack. When called upon to work with their allies, the Talons, he finds himself intrigued with a woman who his wolf doesn’t claim as his own. Though he knows there could be something there, he refuses to tempt himself with a wolf who could never be his when his own mate could waiting for him.

The world changed in a blink of time and now the two wolves must fight as one—ignoring the burning temptation between them—when their people are threatened. With one wrong move, their homes could be destroyed and its up to Finn and Brynn to save them all…if only they could save themselves.

My review:
Fantastic! This book will suck you into a world in turmoil. Big changes are happening and Brynn and Finn are doing what they can to make sure their packs and loved ones survive those changes. It isn’t easy because Brynn knows she is Finns mate but he doesn’t seem to feel the same. She has to work with him but nobody said it was going to be easy.  Brynn was forged in fire she can handle this but you ache for her. Finn was broken and rebuilt as a child and it has changed how he views his pack and the world.  This is a dark book with pain and angst but at the end the tears are happy ones.  This book took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions. I highly recommend.

Southern Shifters: Scents and Scentability (Kindle Worlds) by Heather Long

Blurb:
After banishing Kira and Lucas, the councils remained uncertain of how to control the mingling of powers and what the long-term effects are, so they arrange the circumstances for a double-blind experiment.

Snow leopard, Bennett Nelson takes work for his Clan council regularly as payment for occupying a section of their territory. Though he prefers working solo, his next assignment places in him in close quarters with one of the Psi. Isolated with her on a mountainside, his instructions are explicit—keep the woman alive and safe from any possible harm.

A powerful telepath, Darcy Ashwood prefers to work alone in her lab because people are far too much trouble. Her personal passion? Creating perfumes. She knows everything there is to know about the olfactory sense and is particularly proud of the oil pheromone she created which inspires attraction in others. When she’s sent to a remote cabin to refine her creation, she’s also told to test it on the shifter assigned to be her guard.

A soldier and a scientist, both following orders, never expect to discover a very real connection…

My review:
Fans of Nalini Singh’s Psy/Changeling’s will adore this story as I did. Bennett Nelson is a snow leopard shifter and a loner who does odd jobs for the Clan council in return for his territory.  One of those jobs is protecting powerful Psi telepath, Darcy Ashwood, while she is up alone on a mountain top working her experiments. Nobody counted on her being his mate or did they? Scents and Scentability is a dark tale of learning to love and understand your enemy. The characters need each other so much but are forbidden from acting on their attraction. This book sucked me in and wouldn’t let me go.  I will admit to yelling out loud several times during the tale.

My review:
I love this series. Police officer Megan Luz is not perfect but she tries so hard you are right there with her hoping she gets it right this time.  K9 officer Brigit makes up for Megan’s shortfalls and between the two Fort Worth is a safer place.  This is a sweet, sometimes sad and funny mystery that won’t embarrass your mother.

Hot SEALs: Her Special Alpha (X-OPS Series Book 2) (Kindle Worlds) by Paige Tyler

Blurb:
For the first time in her life, she's getting a chance to know what it’s like to be with man who totally accepts her for who she is…

Former Army Special Forces soldier Travis Dalton is considering taking a job at a friend’s private security company when he steps into the middle of what looks like a mugging. But then things get really bizarre when a beautiful woman shows up with fangs flashing and claws on the tips of her fingers. Suddenly Travis finds himself thrust into the mysterious world of the Department of Covert Operations, a super-secret division of Homeland Security, a world where sometimes bad guys do more than shoot you—sometimes they tear you to shreds.

Eden Bristow is in Virginia Beach for her sister’s wedding. A feline shifter and covert agent with the DCO, she can’t help noticing how good Travis is at guarding her back—and turning her on. She hasn’t had a lot of luck with guys, not once they get a look at her fangs and claws. But Travis doesn’t seem to have a problem with her shifter attributes, and Eden is ready to make up for lost time.

But one little thing is getting in the way of their romance—a gang of bad guys, and the wolf shifter leading them, who seem determined to kill her future brother-in-law and ruin her sister’s upcoming wedding. Will Eden need to call in for DCO backup, or will she find all the help she needs much closer at hand—like in her bed?

My review:
Everybody wants to be loved and accepted for who they are. Eden Bristow is a feline shifter and covert agent with the DCO. Not exactly conducive to meeting guys who accept her claws and all. Former Army Special Forces soldier Travis Dalton meets Eden when they both stop Eden’s future brother in-law and his bff from being mugged. Eden is amazed when Travis doesn’t flinch at the sight of her fangs and claws. Travis has seen so much that Eden’s add ons don’t faze him. He thinks she is the hottest thing he has ever seen.  Eden is tough and sweet and so is Travis. These two make your heartstrings sing.  I really love the X-OPS Series by Paige Tyler and this is a fantastic addition.

Officer on Duty (Lock and Key #4) by Ranae Rose

Blurb:
Life is tough but Sergeant Jeremy Connor is tougher. Riley County, North Carolina is recovering from a year of hell when devastation strikes again, and the Sheriff’s Department is working the frontlines. On top of keeping the community safe, there’s Jeremy’s greatest responsibility: raising his daughter. Alone.

Seeing local women turn up dead is enough to shake any father, even a veteran sheriff’s deputy. After years of loneliness, the timing couldn’t be worse to let another woman into his life. But he’d have better luck resisting gravity than resisting Lucia Ramirez, the first to prove there’s still a heart beneath his bullet proof vest.

For the first time in over a decade, serving and protecting isn’t enough to satisfy him anymore. But someone to love means someone to lose…

Book 4 in the Lock and Key Series

My review:

Welcome back to Riley County, North Carolina. In Officer on Duty we meet police Sergeant Jeremy Connor, his daughter and his new neighbor Lucia Ramirez. Jeremy is a single father and cousin to Correctional Officer Liam Alexander who we met in Officer Next Door (Lock and Key #1).  Jeremy has been single for a long time and isn’t looking to change things.  He has an occasional no strings fling but his daughter has already lost her mother he isn’t going to put them through that again. Lucia thinks Jeremy is hot in or out of his uniform and when the opportunity arises she gets to see that first hand. What neither of them expect is the attraction that burns hotter than the sun in July. Can Jeremy take a chance on love?

This book is part of a series but can be read stand alone.  This is a smoking hot story with danger from all sides. We see some old friends and make some new ones. The author gives you a real feel for what it is like to be involved with a police officer.  Watch out for the lady in white. I really enjoyed watching Jeremy & Lucia grow together.

Blackmailed By The Hero (Gone Hollywood #2) by Julie Particka

Blurb:
The wrong bed. The wrong guy.

Party planner Vicky Stone is on a post-divorce mission. Not only does she intend to land her dream promotion, she's going to indulge in a night of hot hook-up sex. Preferably with the hunky actor she just met at a work function, no-fraternization rules be damned. Fortunately, his drunken directions included a right that should have been a left, landing her in bed with her brother's extra-hot, extra-off-limits best friend instead of the unemployment line.

And, oh, he feels good. Too good.

Bad boy Dante Palladino's forbidden fantasies are about to come true...until Vicky realizes who she's feeling up. And to find out she risked her job for sex with some loser? Not on his watch. Dante throws down the ultimate, albeit self-serving, blackmail. Vicky will date him-and only him-and her secret will be safe. But Vicky swore never to fall for another guy who could break her heart...and Dante's on course to do just that.

My review:
Dante Palladino is her brother’s best friend.  Her brother warned her away from him and despite the attraction she heeded the warning.   Vicky Stone has a plan. The divorce has been over for a while but Vickie has goals and doesn’t need a man to mess things up. But she hasn’t had sex since the divorce and her bff goads Vickie into agreeing to a post-divorce hot hook-up. When a hot actor makes a pass at Vicky she agrees to come back after work and hook up. She finds her way back but enters Dante’s room by mistake. Dante has always wanted Vicky but she was engaged and then married.  She is free now and about to make a terrible error if she goes to the actors bed. Dante blackmails her into dating only him for the duration of his stay.  If the attraction is mutual so much the better.
Dante is big bad and tattooed. He is dreamy and a really good guy. Vicky senses this about him but she remembers her brothers warning and he knows Dante better. She is so conflicted. It was great fun watching Vicky overcome her fears to fall for Dante. This is the second in a series but can be read stand alone.

Beauty and the Bachelor by Naima Simone

Blurb:
Billionaire Lucas Oliver is hell bent on revenge. And his plan begins when Sydney Blake—the stunning daughter of his enemy—is tricked into bidding on Lucas at a bachelor auction. Then he serves up a little blackmail...followed by a marriage proposal Sydney has no choice but to accept.

Sydney has been controlled by her family her whole life. When Lucas threatens to reveal her father's shady business, she is once again forced to do her duty for her family. But worse—oh so much worse—is the rush of lust that Lucas ignites in her blood.

Lucas is determined to make Sydney suffer, but it’s tough when he can’t keep from touching her–or thinking about touching her–all the time. She’s not fairing much better since she’s engaged to a darkly handsome beast intent on destroying her entire family...along with her heart.

My review:
Beauty and the Beast meet the bootstrap billionaire and the dutiful socialite daughter. Lucas Oliver is the bootstrap billionaire who is bent on revenge against Jason Blake.  The weapon he chooses is Sydney Blake, Jason’s dutiful socialite daughter. Lucas is a hard ass determined to have his revenge no matter who he hurts along the way. He tricks and traps Sydney into being his wife despite the fact that she is engaged to another man.  She isn’t in love with her now former fiancé but it is safer that way right? Emotions were never part of Lucas’s plan.  He doesn’t trust women and he certainly doesn’t trust Sydney no matter how sweet and sexy she may appear.  Will his quest for revenge cost him the one woman who can heal his soul? Beauty and the Bachelor is a well written and fast paced feel good romance. The type of book you put down with a smile on your face.

Falling for the P.I. (Still Harbor #1) by Victoria James

Blurb:
She could never trust a cop...

Teacher Kate Abbott's fresh start in Still Harbor was the beginning of the life that she and her two best friends always imagined for themselves. Still, being a working single parent of a special needs daughter hasn't exactly improved Kate's love life. But Kate's preference for nachos over men quickly disappears when she meets the oh-so-sexy Matt Lane.

Until she finds out he's a cop.

Matt is a former cop-turned-private investigator, and he knows fear when he sees it. A cop clearly spooked Kate...or hurt her. Still, something about the gorgeous professor catches his attention, and despite his "no settling down" policy, he can't resist her. But all of the attraction in the world won't be enough to overcome Kate's past...

My review:
Falling for the P.I. was a delightful surprise.  I was expecting a fluffy small town romance and what I got was a small town romance with meat. This is a terrific story with wonderful characters we can care about.  Matt is a former cop-turned-private investigator who has been burnt by love but hasn’t quite gotten the hang of not caring, which is a great thing for Kate Abbott who has never felt safe enough to love. This book is filled with small surprises and sweet moments.  I heartily recommend this feel good romance and am truly looking forward to the next book.

Southern Shifters: Furever After by Michelle Fox

Blurb:
Staying safe means killing her wolf…

Piper Oakes is done with being a shifter and doing whatever she can to jettison her wolf. If she doesn’t, her alpha will force her to be his mate, even though they have no bond. In an effort to force her obedience, he’s taken everything from her—family, friends and any sense of safety she ever had. There’s no reason for her to be a wolf anymore and every reason to walk away.

Saving her wolf is his only chance at love…

Doctor Jaxon Comyn has never met a wolf who could be his mate. To fill the void of living alone, he throws himself into the study of human medical science. When Piper comes into his life, it’s his one shot at having it all, but claiming her as his mate means taking on both her alpha…and his.

Welcome to Eliza Gayle's Southern Shifters series, where alphas move heaven and earth for their ‘happily furever afters.’

My review:
Piper Oakes will tear your heart out. She has lived in hell since her “Alpha” decided she was his when she was just a kid. Her parents protected her but he’s killed them to get to her. She has no choice but to run. Looking over your shoulder is no way to live.  She runs to the city to hide among the humans. She doesn’t want to be a wolf anymore. Maybe then he would leave her alone. Alone sick and scared in the city she runs into Doctor Jaxon Comyn a wolf doing his residency at the hospital. She doesn’t want his help but he can’t/won’t leave her sick and alone.
I felt so hard for Piper. This book will take you across a full spectrum of emotions leaving you exhausted but happy.

Hiding From Danger (Danger Incorporated Book 2) by Olivia Jaymes

Blurb:
Georgette “Gigi” Sidney is a woman on the run. Her ex-boyfriend’s love was controlling, obsessive, and deadly. Now she’s hiding out in Tremont, Montana spending her days as a waitress and her nights in West Anderson’s bed. She ought to be moving on to the next town but her feelings for the handsome detective have complicated her plans.

Everything in life has come easily for West Anderson. Until now. Despite the passionate nights he and Gigi have shared she’s constantly talking about leaving town. He knows she has some sort of a secret but so far she hasn’t trusted him enough to reveal it.

When Gigi’s past interferes with the present she has to finally tell West the truth…about everything. She needs twenty-four hour protection and he’s just the man for the job.

If West has his way there will be no more running, no more excuses, and no more lies. He’s determined to put the past to rest so that he can be her future. All he has to do is catch a madman and keep her alive while doing it.

My review:
Hiding From Danger is a fun romantic suspense novel.  Georgette “Gigi” Sidney is hiding from her past and she is the only girl Detective West Anderson can think of having a future with.  Gigi has got to move on before he can break her heart. Unfortunately trouble finds her before she can bail and now she and West are in the crosshairs and need a bit of help staying alive and while they are at it finding Gigi’s brother and sister.  Love on the run has never been this hot.  West is a strong alpha male without being too dominating.  He is sweet and supportive and has been added to my list of book boyfriends.  Gigi has been doing it on her own for a long time and is just tired enough to accept some help. Probably because of the man who is offering.  This book is part of a loosely connected series and can be read standalone.
