Officer on Duty (Lock and Key #4) by Ranae Rose

Blurb:
Life is tough but Sergeant Jeremy Connor is tougher. Riley County, North Carolina is recovering from a year of hell when devastation strikes again, and the Sheriff’s Department is working the frontlines. On top of keeping the community safe, there’s Jeremy’s greatest responsibility: raising his daughter. Alone.

Seeing local women turn up dead is enough to shake any father, even a veteran sheriff’s deputy. After years of loneliness, the timing couldn’t be worse to let another woman into his life. But he’d have better luck resisting gravity than resisting Lucia Ramirez, the first to prove there’s still a heart beneath his bullet proof vest.

For the first time in over a decade, serving and protecting isn’t enough to satisfy him anymore. But someone to love means someone to lose…

Book 4 in the Lock and Key Series

My review:

Welcome back to Riley County, North Carolina. In Officer on Duty we meet police Sergeant Jeremy Connor, his daughter and his new neighbor Lucia Ramirez. Jeremy is a single father and cousin to Correctional Officer Liam Alexander who we met in Officer Next Door (Lock and Key #1).  Jeremy has been single for a long time and isn’t looking to change things.  He has an occasional no strings fling but his daughter has already lost her mother he isn’t going to put them through that again. Lucia thinks Jeremy is hot in or out of his uniform and when the opportunity arises she gets to see that first hand. What neither of them expect is the attraction that burns hotter than the sun in July. Can Jeremy take a chance on love?

This book is part of a series but can be read stand alone.  This is a smoking hot story with danger from all sides. We see some old friends and make some new ones. The author gives you a real feel for what it is like to be involved with a police officer.  Watch out for the lady in white. I really enjoyed watching Jeremy & Lucia grow together.
