Claiming His Cougar: Paranormal Dating Agency by Roxanne Witherell

Blurb:

Heiress Charlotte Lumos had been patiently waiting to meet her mate but was starting to lose hope. When PDA’s owner and matchmaker, Gerri Wilder, sets her up with a much younger man, Charlotte wonders if he’ll be mature enough to handle her age and her kink or if he’ll turn tail and run.

Charles Gunner is young, single, and loving life as one of the youngest agents in the Federal Paranormal Unit. He is not looking for commitment or anything serious when he runs into Charlotte, literally. Now, she is all he can think about. But someone else has Charlotte in their sights, turning her into a case he can’t afford to lose.

When mysterious accidents start happening and danger seems to be coming from all angles, will he be able to protect his newfound mate?

My review:

Claiming His Cougar is a rapid fire tale of fated mates. There may be an age difference but the compatibility between Gunnar and Charlotte is obvious from the get go. Gunnar isn’t looking for a mate but when he finds her he isn’t letting go. Charlotte has been looking for her mate since her ex found his. She’s been alone and  despaired that even Gerri Wilder wouldn’t find a mate for her. When she meets Gunnar she’s concerned about the age disparity and other issues. It was entertaining watching Gunnar put her fears to rest. This is an exciting and sexy read.

Trials and Tiaras (Untouchable #7) by Heather Long

Blurb:

It’s not true.

It can’t be.

Four DNA tests.

Only one positive.

The man claiming to be my father is quite literally the worst option imaginable. This isn’t happening to me. For the first time in my life, I know who I am and where I want to be and, in the blink of an eye, everything is spinning so utterly out of control.

I thought the fight with Maddy was the worst thing I faced.

It’s not. Ive grown up in a house of lies and its all crashing down on the five of us, and I have no idea how to protect the ones I love best from the fallout. Theyve all made it clear, they’re not going anywhere.

Worse, I don’t know how to keep them from wading into this fight. I cant imagine my life without all four of them. I dont want to.

We can survive this, right?

*Please note this is a reverse harem and the author suggests you always read the forward in her books. Contains some bullying elements, mature situations, and is recommended for 17+. This is the seventh in a series and the story will continue through future books.

My review:

I. AM. EXHAUSTED! The emotional rollercoaster that Frankie and the boys have been on doesn’t slow for even a moment and they are taking me along for the ride. Questions answered and new ones posed. Frankie and the guys are growing and I can’t wait to see where life takes them next. After a nap.

Fairy Godmothers, Inc. (Fairy Godmothers, Inc. #1) by Saranna DeWylde

Blurb:

If love is the source of all the magic in the universe, and the town of Ever After, Missouri, is the epicenter of enchantment, then the locals are in dire need of a reboot. At least according to resident fairy godmothers Petunia, Jonquil, and Bluebonnet. Their solution? Blow a bit of fairy dust in the direction of those in need of romance. . . . What could possibly go wrong?

SOME KIND OF AWFUL . . .

Lucky Fujiki’s first name is a cosmic joke. Her luck is so bad, even the number seven steers clear of her. But when her adorable godmothers ask for a favor, Lucky can’t say no. After all, it’s just a little one—to save the world’s magic. Lucky can already feel the bad juju waiting to strike. And her mission is even worse than she imagined: to promote Ever After as a wedding destination by faking a marriage to her first love and long-time ex, Ransom Payne—he of the Embarrassing Incident that neither of them will ever live down . . .

OR ALL KINDS OF WONDERFUL?

Ransom Payne has spent years building an impressive new reputation for himself, and now his godmothers want him to pretend to wed the one girl he’d like most to forget? Sure, weddings in Ever After could be a huge boon for his chocolate business, but risking more up-close-and-personal time with Lucky? Considering the stakes, it’s a curse he’ll have to bear, at the risk of being humiliated—or perhaps, bewitched . . .

My review:

Fantastic! This grown-up fairytale will at turns have you laughing out loud and sighing with despair. The characters are adorable and truly funny. You’ll laugh and cry at Lucky and Ransom and the OFG’s. I can’t say much without spoilers so I’ll just say you want this book vacation. This tale will suck you in and leave you wanting a return trip to Ever After. I’ve already preordered the next book.

Black Hollow: The Krampus' Heart by J.C. Layne

Blurb:

Klaus Nichols is finally getting his dream of opening his own toy and skateboard store. His Krampus family has been in the toy business for generations back in Germany, so making children happy is in his blood. Contrary to what lore says, Krampuses don’t haul misbehaving children to hell or beat them with sticks. Thankfully, in Black Hollow, he’s accepted and supported.

Carys Evans, enchantress and guidance counselor at Black Hollow Academy, has been tapped as the chairperson of this year’s Christmas festival in Black Hollow. Carys wants this to be the best festival the town has ever seen. She even has the new toy store owner volunteer to handle the Secret Santa program, or so she thinks.

When Klaus and Carys meet, the experience is less than stellar for both of them. They soon find out that first impressions are sometimes wrong. As the store opening and Christmas festival approach, they find out that danger is lurking and Klaus is the target. Joining together, will they be able to make both of their goals successful or will this Christmas be memorable for the wrong reasons?

My review:

Monsters need love too. Krampus Klaus Nichols is tired of getting a bad rap. Moving to Black Hollow is the best thing that’s ever happened to him. Acceptance is a wonderful thing. Klaus is sweet and sexy and an all-around good guy. He just has an issue with a certain fat dude and a family feud. When Klaus is sucked into the Black Hollow Christmas events he is less than thrilled.

I had a blast watching Christmas (and Cupid) work their magic on a grumpy Krampus and a scared enchantress. This story is sure to leave you with a happy heart.

Dating Wyatt's Mom by September North

Blurb:

I'm Holden. Life-changing injuries have a way of opening your eyes. In my case, it's made me realize that I'm in love with Tatiana. She happens to be my best friend, Luther's sister. I've known her since we were ten, but somehow just realized that I'm in love with her. Her son, Wyatt, is like…my best buddy. He's about to turn one. That kid loves me, and I love that kid. He's the only one who doesn't look at me like breaking my hand the summer before senior year didn't just cost me my football scholarship and my future. Well, him and sometimes his mom, if she will let herself look at me at all.

I'm Tatiana and I'm a senior in high school. Between juggling school, a toddler, and my plans for the future, I don't exactly have time for anything else. I'm afraid to have time for anyone else. Especially, my brother's best friend, Holden. My son loves him. I…might love him, too.

How do we risk our hearts when we have Wyatt's heart to think about?

My review:

Dating Wyatt's Mom deals with teen parenting and dating. Tatiana gets pregnant her first time and has to deal with school, parenting and preparing for her and Wyatt's future. She doesn’t have time for dating and the sperm donor has moved on. Holden was the star quarterback with a bright future till he broke his hand lost football but that has allowed him to spend more time with Wyatt and Wyatt's Mom.

I love these guys. I’ll admit they’re more mature than I was at that age but I guess circumstances forced them to be. I went through this whole book rooting for Tatiana and Holden. I wanted to Gibbs smack Luther and Jax for different reasons but just the same.

This is a heartwarming story filled with love and determination.

Cookies for Satan (Witching After Forty) by Lia Davis

Blurb:

Part-time bookstore clerk, part-time author, necromancer in training, and full-time caretaker of a ghoul are titles that Ava Harper never dreamed of applying to herself.

Even with all the crazy going on around her, she’s determined to make this Christmas as normal as possible—without raising the dead or some other fiasco.

When her best friend’s wife comes up with the idea to throw a community-wide holiday party, Ava is all in. After all, the holidays have been a dark time for her ever since her husband died. This year will be different. She has a new start in life with family and friends, new and old.

Then someone has the bright idea to conjure the real Saint Nick to surprise the kids. But the surprise is on Ava when the spell goes wrong and she summons the devil himself.

Christmas in Shipton Harbor will never be the same again.

My review:

Cookies for Satan is a cute Christmas themed novella that takes place in the Witching After Forty world. Ava is getting more comfortable with her gifts so when she’s encouraged to invite Santa to her Christmas party she goes for it with unintended consequences. Much silliness ensues and we’re all in for a good time.

A Christmas Lynx (Idlewyld Mates #1) by Renee Hewett

Blurb:

A mob enforcer bear shifter, a lynx shifter nurse with a deadly history, and an invitation to Gerri Wilder’s famous Christmas Party!

Pryce Desalvo is the top mob enforcer in town, and he’s sworn off love. He wouldn’t want to bring anyone into his kind of life, and he certainly can’t abandon his position and leave his friends open to dangerous opponents.

Love is something Nila Havens figures she’ll never find, so she focuses her passion on her career—caring for her cancer patients. Life is simpler that way, and she is plenty happy with her life as it is. Well, maybe not plenty.

But when Pryce and Nila each receive an invitation to Gerri’s Christmas party, they’ll have to do the polite thing and show up. What will happen when they run into each other? Not what Gerri expected.

The two might be determined to go their separate ways, but secrets from Nila’s past will have Pryce realizing that once you meet your mate, there’s no turning back.

He might hem, and she might haw, but when a world-famous paranormal matchmaker sticks you together, you might as well accept it!

This paranormal romance is Book One in the Idlewyld Mates Series but can be read as a standalone. This novella is part of Milly Taiden’s Paranormal Dating Agency shared world and features matchmaker extraordinaire, Gerri Wilder!

My review:

A Christmas Lynx by new to me author Renee Hewett is a terrific addition to the PDA world. This story has two souls with secrets who are perfect for each other if they would only open themselves to the possibility. Gerri Wilder opens the door but only they can walk through it. This is a fun escape and I look forward to more from this author.

Busting Out (Busted #3) by Diane Kelly

Blurb:

Buxom motorcycle cop Chastity “Cha-Cha” Rinaldi has a tough reputation to live up to. On her first day as a rookie for the Mobile, Alabama police department, Cha-Cha pulled over a pickup hauling a trailer with a busted taillight, and unwittingly stumbled upon an international human smuggling ring. But now, the three creeps she put behind bars have busted out of prison. Have they fled the country, or could they be coming for her as they’d vowed upon receiving their life sentences?

A traffic stop puts Cha-Cha face-to-face with high school physics teacher Newton Isaac. Cha-Cha can’t imagine herself with the geeky yet undeniably appealing guy. After all, he’s her polar opposite. Still, he's a welcome distraction from her woes, and she finds herself inexplicably drawn to him, as if by some unseen super-magnetic force pulling on her underwire bra.

Is Cha-Cha destined to pose a one-woman defense against three violent brutes, or might Newt prove to be her nerd in shining armor?

My review:

Busting Out gives us a peek into Cha-Cha’s past and a glimpse at her future.  Cha-cha and Newton will put a smile on your face. I really enjoy riding along with Cha-Cha and got a kick out of this story.

Blurb:

Just when you thought fate was done with you

Done with grieving the loss of her family, Jenny Mitchell is looking for a fresh start. Life as she knew it is over, but what waits for her in the town of Whisper Falls is more than just quaint charm and an Inn no one wanted. Her near death experience awakens senses she didn’t know she possessed. Senses that both scare and fascinate her, especially when they bring her face to face with a sexy, supernatural truth that spells more than just second chance romance. Sparks fly under the mistletoe, and there’s no escaping the magic of the season, or the cougar shifter destined to help her through the darkness and mend her broken heart, in this modern twist on a holiday classic

My review:

From the gorgeous cover to the very last page, I was enthralled by this modern take on an old classic. The author takes you on a heart wrenching journey of self-discovery and forgiveness. I was sucked in from the start and though I am familiar with the original and knew where this was headed the author continually surprised me along the way.  Break out a glass of wine and a box of tissues and enjoy.

Snowed in with the Firefighter (Shadow Creek, Montana #7) by Victoria James

Blurb:

Dr. Melody Mayberry’s life just took a turn that’s left her questioning everything. Where better to hide out than the remote family cabin in the mountains? The last thing she expects to find there is her swoon-worthy brother-in-law, the one man who may have more baggage than her.

Finn Matthews is not ready to face the fact that the recent injury he sustained in a fire may have ended his firefighting career. He’s not interested in sharing the cabin with anyone, let alone Melody, and their family just texted with yet another unwelcome surprise—they’ll be there Christmas Eve.

To keep their meddling family at bay, the two team up to fake a little holiday cheer. But between ridiculously competitive Monopoly games, marathon Christmas decorating, and a storm that strands them together with nothing but a fire and a warm couch, they realize something major—their fake holiday cheer isn’t feeling so fake anymore, and that’s something neither of these two Grinches expected...

My review:

Snowed in with the Firefighter has that “Hallmark Christmas movie” feel to it. This is a story with angst and emotion that ends with love and happiness. I really liked Melody and Finn’s story. This is part of a series but can be read standalone. A feel good Christmastime story.

Going Polar: A Stand Alone Holiday Howls Polar Bear Shifter Romance by Abbie Zanders

Blurb:

The tiny tourist town of Aurora Falls has a very big secret…

Polar bear shifter Finn Isberson is a pretty chill guy. Like most unmated males, he’s kind of a loner. Fishing, coaching the local youth ice hockey team, and weekly dinners with his family are enough for him. Catering to the human tourists who come to Aurora Falls for a unique polar bear experience isn’t really his thing… until her.

She’s everything he’s ever wanted in a mate, but the odds are stacked against him. Not only is she human, but she’s also got a job and life beyond Aurora Falls and he’s only got a week to convince her that he’s the man/bear for her.

Given the choice of spending the holidays alone or with her twin brother and his spoiled mean-girl girlfriend, veterinarian Lainey Swann decides to go polar AF—Aurora Falls, that is. The tiny northern Canada town is the self-proclaimed polar bear capital of the world, plus Lainey’s always had a soft spot for the big, furry beasts.

She didn’t expect the VIP holiday package to include the personal attention of the sexy Viking with arctic green eyes. And she certainly didn’t expect to fall so hard, so fast.

When a Christmas miracle becomes a matter of life and death, Lainey is plunged headfirst into a fantastical world and learns the truth – not only about Finn, but about the secret behind the town’s success.

Will Finn be able to convince Lainey they belong together? Or will she flee and expose them all?

Going Polar is a sweet, heartwarming, light paranormal romance featuring polar bear shifters, perfect for getting in the holiday mood.

My review:

Going Polar is an enjoyable escape. Lainey is terrific and Finn is believable. The thing that makes this story though is the town and its inhabitants. I enjoyed spending Christmas vacation with Lainey and Finn.

One Fine Fae (Mystic Bayou #4.5) by Molly Harper

Blurb:

Take a trip to the beloved supernatural town of Mystic Bayou in this brilliantly funny new stand-alone novella - written for audio-first!

Charlotte McBee knows she’s in for a challenge when she accepts a job as midwife for a dragon and a phoenix shifter. Being a fairy herself, it isn’t the supernatural world that scares her. It’s the thought of delivering a giant metal dragon’s egg, which has her gritting her teeth in pain for poor Jillian, the anxious mother-to-be.

While preparing for the big event, a handsome town resident catches her eye. Leonard is kind, charming, and a little bit mysterious. He’s also suffering from a highly unusual condition brought on by an ancient fairy curse, and he’s too wary of Charlotte to allow her to get close.

Will love overcome fear before the end of her assignment?

My review:

One Fine Fae is out in audio only for right now. This adorable story features Jillian’s wedding, assistant Leonard and the birth of Jillian and Bael’s egg.

This story is much better if you’ve read/listened to the earlier books. As with the others this delightful tale will have you laughing out loud and snorting your tea through your nose and leaving you with a happy heart.

I can’t recommend this series enough.

Submissive Angel (two novella story) by Joey W. Hill

Blurb:

Snowflakes don’t make any sound. Like a first kiss…

PART ONE: When Robert finds Ange bleeding in an alley, he employs him in his vintage toy store as an act of charity. Months later, as Christmas approaches, he still has many unanswered questions about Ange, but one thing is clear. The eccentric young dancer is determined to offer his thanks—and himself—to teach a brokenhearted Master how to open his heart to love again.

PART TWO: Yet even as Robert embraces Ange’s eager submission to him, the mystery of Ange remains. Something nearly destroyed him and his ability to cope in the outside world. Robert resolves he will find out the truth. Ange brought light to Robert’s life again; as a true Master, Robert will make sure the power of their bond heals them both.

Submissive Angel was originally released as a short (60 pg) novella in 2012 with Riptide Publishing. The 2020 re-release includes the original novella as well as a Part Two, longer novella (170 pg) that continues the story - two novellas under one cover.

My review:

I loved the original short and didn’t know I needed more until I read the second part. OMG! The feelings, the drama, the need and most importantly the love. This book (like many others from this author) took over my world and made me feel what the characters were feeling, doubt, fear, love and humility. I fell into their world and didn’t come away until long after the last page. Absolutely fantastic.

Winter's Secret by Julie Morgan

Blurb:

Imagine falling in love with your brother's best friend...

When Winter Samantha Vine decides to take a trip to her family's cabin for the Christmas holiday, she doesn't count on being snowed in. And that hadn't included being trapped inside with her brother's best friend, not to mention the man who haunted her dreams and kept her up at night, Blake Archer.

What's a girl to do when she's held up in the mountains in North Carolina on Christmas with the man of her dreams?

My review:

Winter's Secret by Julie Morgan is a well written quick and dirty brothers best friend caught in the snowstorm together escape. There is nothing new or different in this story but it’s sure to warm you up butter than a cup of hot cocoa and is sweeter than the marshmallows on top.

The Hunt: Masquerade by Milly Taiden

Blurb:

Rush Jensen, wolf shifter and failing hotel owner, has always lived in the shadow of his family’s sordid history. His entire life has been spent trying to regain what was lost: the family money and the prestigious name attached to it. When his flighty brother makes a shady deal with a loan shark, there is more than the crumbling family business to save. That is what he should focus on. Not the beautiful masked woman he meets at a masquerade – even if she is his mate.
Chantal Katz is an upcoming designer who can’t believe her luck when she gets invited to the year's shifter party. Not only is she human, but she isn’t a glamorous society lady. She just likes to design gowns. But her plan to leave the masquerade is ruined when she runs into a handsome masked stranger. She just didn’t expect the one-night stand to turn into anything – especially not love.
The attraction is undeniable. Especially when Rush finds Chantal after her morning-after disappearing act. They could be incredible together, Rush knows that. Too bad the past just won’t leave these destined mates alone.

My review:

This latest sexy adventure by the terrific Milly Taiden had me squirming in my seat. Chantal “ChaCha” Katz is a terrific female lead. A curvy girl she is very different than the models she dresses and she is okay with that until she meets the hunky wolf shifter Rush Jensen. Then she battles with her self-esteem a bit. Rush is smitten by the curvy girl and will do anything to make her his mate. Lucky us she makes him work for it.

This story is filled with love and the language of flowers and I really enjoyed it.
