Dragons' Jewel (Nightflame Dragons Book 1) by Milly Taiden

Blurb:
Gianna Harris doesn’t think twice when joining a program seeking surrogates for an alien shifter planet whose female population was decimated during war. It’s better than grieving a mother who doesn’t remember her. With tears, Gianna says her goodbyes then travels to planet Daeria where she meets not one, but two sexy dragons who claim she’s their mate.

As the dragon king and leader of the shifter council, Voss has a duty to rebuild the planet after a shifter war destroyed everything. The surrogate program was supposed to be simple. The female volunteers are assigned to the shifter species they want and are not forced to do anything they don’t want.

When Voss caught the scent of one of the first females to arrive at the spaceport, he and his best friend, Azar, break a few rules to claim their true mate. They steal her away from the wolves she was assigned to. And a particular wolf wants her badly enough to start another war if she isn’t turned over.

Readers: This is a smokin' new series with badass dragons and sassy women that will keep you on your toes. If you like menage, get to reading.

My review:
m/f/m
Dragons' Jewel drops us into new worlds with new possibilities. This is the first in an exciting new series and if the rest are anything like this one I can’t wait.
This story is the tale of the selfless daughter made queen. She has not one but two sexy shifters wanting nothing more than her happiness. This adventure will keep you flipping pages to see what happens next.

Tiger's Claim (Shifter Rogues #2) by Celia Kyle

Blurb:
Jaguar shifter Stella Moore has one thing on her mind - to take down the anti-shifter organization that destroyed her family. Her plans are going perfectly until a sexy-as-sin stranger throws off her game and decides the only way they can both avoid getting caught is to claim her as his girlfriend. Wait! What? Now she has to fly to a tropical island and play along because the alternative is...deadly.

Most people know Cole Turner as an uber-wealthy playboy - not as a tiger shifter who's part of a special ops team to protect his kind. Now his undercover mission has been compromised by a redheaded bombshell, and every animal instinct he has is screaming mate. To survive among so many enemies, they'll have to keep up their romantic act, find their intel... and absolutely not fall in love along the way.

My review:
Romantic suspense shifter style. I didn’t feel the chemistry between Stella and Cole until late in the book. They proclaimed it but I didn’t feel it. The story over all was good but I just didn’t feel the love. I did enjoy the intrigue and adventure.

Vampire with Benefits (Supernatural Selection #2) by E.J. Russell

Blurb:
A match between a vampire and shifter could be deadly—but this broken beaver doesn’t give a dam.

Silent film actor Casimir Moreau had imagined that life as a vampire would be freewheeling and glamorous. Instead, he’s plunged into a restrictive society whose rules he runs afoul of at every turn. To “rehabilitate” him, the vampire council orders him mated to an incubus with impeccable breeding who’ll mold Cas into the upstanding vampire he ought to be. Or else.

As an inactive beaver shifter, construction engineer Rusty Johnson has fought—and overcome—bias and disrespect his entire life. But when his longtime boyfriend leaves him for political reasons, Rusty is ready to call it a day. Next stop? Supernatural Selection and his guaranteed perfect mate, a bear shifter living far away from Rusty’s disapproving clan.

But then a spell snafu at Supernatural Selection robs both men of their intended husbands. Rusty can’t face returning to his clan, and Cas needs somebody on his arm to keep the council happy, so they agree to pretend to be married. Nobody needs to know their relationship is fake—especially since it’s starting to feel suspiciously like the real thing.

My review:
m/m
Life just isn’t fair. Beaver shifter, construction engineer Rusty Johnson can’t shift.  Undead life isn’t what Silent film actor Casimir Moreau thought it would be. Neither of them was supposed to ever meet but the guys they were supposed to meet ended up married to each other (see Single White Incubus Supernatural Selection #1).  But they need each other and as time goes by they find that maybe opposites do attract. Despite a slow start this story gets funnier and sweeter with each page. I ended up really liking it.
Though this is part of a series I think it can be read stand alone.

Perfectly Inappropriate by Stacey Kennedy

Blurb:
A woman scorned and a politician with a wild side connect online—and explore their hottest fantasies in the flesh.

Olivia Watts knows that her problems are painfully average. She got engaged, and her fiancĂ© cheated. She gave up on her dream job—street photographer—and settled on a more practical one: graphic designer. She scrimped and saved to buy a home, only to realize how empty it was. So when Olivia hears about an exclusive dating app that matches subs with highly trained doms, she does something she never thought she’d do in a million years: She signs up. The last thing she expects to find is a man whose sizzling touch reawakens the woman she used to be. . . .

Noah Grant has no time for relationships. His sole purpose is to win reelection. That’s why he pays a premium to the discreet app that satisfies all his dark desires. But after sweet, innocent Olivia is vetted and arrives for their week together in his penthouse, it’s blatantly clear that she’s running from her demons. Noah’s more than willing to be her escape—until their emotions get tangled up in their games. Now, to become worthy of Olivia’s heart, Noah will have to prove that he’s more than a fantasy.

My review:
Sweet, sexy and sassy. This story has it all, a sweet woman who has done all the right things only to have her heart stomped on and finding herself in a place she never thought she’d be, a dominant politician who is determined not to put any woman through the life of loneliness that a political wife would lead. He never counted on her and she wants more than he is willing to give. But oh the steamy while they figure it out. Break out a cold drink and kick back and enjoy.

Nice Day for a Mage Wedding: Casino Witch Mysteries 4 by Nikki Haverstock

Blurb:
Mage Bridal Party Etiquette
__Plan the bachelorette party even if you are given two hours’ warning.
__Wear whatever hideous dress the bride picks out.
__Try not to get killed and ruin the wedding.
Ella and Vanessa are having a pretty busy week between being forced to be in Vin and Tiffany’s wedding and investigating the murder of a local property manager for Bear, all while Ella tries to convince Monza Colleen that she would be a perfect apprentice. Ella is stronger than ever, but from a magical charm bracelet to collapsing ice sculptures to the bridezilla from hell, she has her hands full. Add on Patagonia’s panache for getting into trouble, and Ella might not survive.

My review:
More madness from the world of BFF’s Ella and Vanessa. Ella’s magic is getting stronger and she is finding out more about herself and what she wants from life. That is if someone will stop trying to kill her long enough to enjoy it. The author puts Ella and Vanessa through hell in this book but I still managed to laugh at their shenanigans. This is part of a series and I recommend reading the other books first so you can better understand what is going on in this book.

NEW HONEY IN TOWN (Sweet & Dirty BBW MC Romance Book 8) by Cathryn Cade

Blurb:
He’s living the good life, free and wild.
Until the woman he left behind hits town…with a gift he can’t refuse.
‘Rav’ Harkness rides free, parties hard and makes no promises to the women who pass through his life.
The one thing on this Devil’s Flyer’s mind is forging a place for himself in the E Washington chapter. If that includes war with a rival club, he’ll fight alongside his brothers, no question.
Della Bonyer is a woman on a mission—find the biker who left her pregnant and jobless, and make him pay.
When her old car breaks down in the parking lot of the Devil’s Flyers clubhouse, that’s fine with her. She’s here to stay… at least until she gives birth to the baby she’s carrying.
This Christmas, the Flyers will celebrate more than one birth…that is, if the clubhouse is still standing when these two ex-lovers are through battling.
Will love’s sweetness be worth the sting?
Ride along another hot, alpha Devil's Flyer. The bigger the alpha… the harder he falls.
Each book can be read as a standalone, with a HEA, no cheating, and honey-sweet, turn-up-the-heat ro-mance!

My review:
How can a rough and tough biker book be so sweet. ‘Rav’ Harkness is a bad a$$ biker with a heart of gold. Della Bonyer was raised in the biker culture but has aims of becoming a cop so she can protect women and kids from the crap she had to endure growing up. Rav and Della may be opposites but things do heat up whenever they are in the same space.  I loved watching them find each other and taking on whatever the future brings.
This was a sweet and sexy story.

Unexpected Gifts (Chattanooga Supernaturals #9) by Candace Blevins

Blurb:
Polly was nearly killed in a vampire battle near the end of the American Civil War. Her body needed time to heal, but she awakens into a startling future no one in the eighteen hundreds could’ve possibly dreamed of. To further complicate things, Polly wakes a week before Thanksgiving, so she’ll have to navigate the craziness of modern day Christmas on top of everything else.

Jayce is an ancient vampire who’s taking it easy while he lives under this identity. He was a famous physicist in the roaring twenties, but he’s currently a bartender, where everyone knows him as Ace. Abbott assigns the super-genius to teach Polly about this world she’s awakened to — with cars, airplanes, indoor plumbing, and smartphones with a camera in every human’s hand.

Cole is a bear shifter, and is Jayce’s partner. Lover. Whatever. Cole is a physics professor and doesn’t have time for silly labels — nor is he thrilled with the prospect of having a seven hundred year old former Queen of England living in their home. If she thinks he’s bowing to her, she’ll be sorely disappointed.

Sergei was abducted from foster care by an evil vampire as a child, and turned into a werewolf. Abbott rescued him when he took over Maryland, and he’s living with Jayce and Cole, employed as their house manager, but he wants to be so much more to them.

Two vampires, a grizzly bear, and a werewolf. It sounds like the beginning of a joke, but these four living under one roof is serious business. Follow them through an extraordinary Christmas season as they each find ways to offer Unexpected Gifts.

My review:
Unexpected Gifts takes us on a journey of discovery. A slave learning to make good decisions when he’s never had to make them before. A vampire just out of a 150 year healing stasis has to decide who she is going to be in this modern world. And 2 long time lovers have to figure out if their love can stand an addition or two. This is not a light fluffy romance. This goes deeper and will leave you thinking long past the last page about the nature of family and freedom. Well done Ms. Blevins.

The Lady Detective by Emma Holly

Blurb:
Beautiful genie Yasmin has many talents—the best of which might be changing into a cat!

Her crush on Joseph the Magician is less delightful. Forbidden to her when she was the sultan’s wife, now that the harem has been disbanded, the handsome sorcerer seems further out of reach than ever. Better to pretend she never won her freedom than to risk him rejecting her.

Yasmin will have to get over that in short order. Her very first investigation has uncovered a deadly plot—and maybe more threats besides. When Joseph turns up at the same house party, she suspects he’s on a mission too. If they hope to escape with their skins intact, Yasmin needs the genie of her dreams to supply backup!

My review:
The Lady Detective is a sweet tale filled with love and adventure. This adrenaline filled read tells us the story of Yasmin a former concubine that was released from the sultan’s harem and has decided to put her curiosity to work for herself by becoming a detective. In this patriarchal society there aren’t any other female private eye’s. This story tells of her first case and boy is it a doozy.  Join Yasmin and Joseph the Magician as they save the day and find more than they could imagine. I really loved this story.

Oblivion (The Sleeping Court Book 4) by Dagmar Avery & K. Margaret

Blurb:
Five trials.

Five opportunities to die.

Princess Verity is in the fight of her life, the help of her loyal and loving guard getting her through. Their power and their love bolstering her for each situation she must endure. Each trial a test to her physically and emotionally, she leans on her allies and family to navigate, in hopes of making it to the next. Faerie is helping her, giving her the tools to survive, but it also hinders, and pushes her harder than she ever thought possible.

But as she is, she is not strong enough. Her circle is not complete. And until it is, her bid for the throne is still miles away.

For nothing in Faerie comes without sacrifice, and Verity will have to give more in order to win.

My review:
This is it. This is what the previous books have set us up for. In this steamy story we finally get to see if Verity can overcome  whatever Queen Poppy and Princess Audra can throw at her and become Queen so Faerie can start to heal.  This one is going to take the whole team.
This story is filled with strength, sex and surprises and will leave you looking forward to future stories in this world.

My review:
m/f/m
Be careful what you ask for. Tired of guys being selfish and all about themselves Annette asks Gerri to find her a shifter or two that won’t bore her. Ask and you will receive in this fun escape. I really liked Annette. She is comfortable in her own skin and deserves all the happiness she can get. This author just keeps getting better.

Cocksure (Cochrans of Cocker County #1) by Shiloh Walker

Blurb:
Sabrina

He’s the cockiest bastard I’ve ever met and I mean that with all the affection and adoration in the world. I’ve been in love with him for years, and not just because of those intense blue eyes or that slow smug smile that promises to make all your dreams come true. I’ve seen what lies under that smile and his cocksure attitude. It’s enough to make me melt.

Not that I’d ever let him know. Not only is Luke Cochran one of Hollywood’s up-and-coming movie stars…he’s also my boss. I’m his personal assistant and have seen all the women who come and go in his life.

I don’t even hold a candle. But a girl can dream…right?

Luke

Sabrina is one of the sharpest, funniest, kindest people I’ve ever met. Sometimes, I think I’m taking advantage of her, but I seriously cannot cope with my hectic lifestyle without her to keep me on track.

Of course, my life just got totally knocked off track. One of my sisters called. They need me back home. My mother is sick and the last thing I can think about is the promotional tour I’ve got coming up.

Sabrina’s coming with me. She’s the only person who can keep me focused and centered in a time like this. Besides, my family adores her. And it’s just a quick visit. My mother is tough. She’ll be alright.

But then something happens that knocks me for a loop and when my mother tells me that all she really wants in life is to see her kids happy and settled down, I do the stupidest damn thing ever and announce that Sabrina and I are in love. Now I’ve just got to convince my best friend to play along with me and act like she’s my fiancĂ©e and we’re stupid in love.

No big deal…right?

My review:
Cocksure is a fun mixed bag of tricks. Just when you think you know what’s going to happen next the author up and surprises you with a twist. This is a delightful romp with a serious subplot and a truly wonderful read.

Rum and women are plentiful, but his world is changing rapidly now that his crew is back together searching for the Holy Grail to break their curse. But the quest leads him to a historian with raven hair and a wicked smile. She holds all the answers, but she could also spell death for them all.

Dr. Charlotte Sinclair works for the Maritime Museum in Savannah, an expert on ancient pirate wrecks. The search for the Grail opens some dark secrets better left hidden, and Charlotte's life might depend on one Pirate's Passion...

My review:
Hey Ho it’s a pirates life for me…  This is a rollicking good story. Action, adventure and romance this story has it all. Have you ever wanted to stop dreaming about adventure and start living it? Dr. Charlotte Sinclair has to make that choice. It doesn’t hurt that there is a sexy pirate that seems to have stolen her heart. Join the crew of the Sea Dog as they search for treasure. I promise you won’t regret it.

Zero Trace (The Arsenal #4) by Cara Carnes

Blurb:
Don’t get noticed.

Zoey “Zero D” Danson thought it was an easy rule to follow. For years she toiled in cubicle 12A of the NSA’s data farm compiling security briefings and Intelligence reports. But she put her neck on the line and burned a dirty government operation to keep a covert ops team alive.

Now she’s “one of them.” She’s not a nameless, faceless civilian anymore. She’s part of The Arsenal—and in way, way over her head.

Trust no one.

Gage Sanderson recognizes a threat when he sees it, and the newest geek in The Arsenal’s back office is trouble. She’s smart, secretive, sexy, and everything he shouldn’t want. They risked their necks to keep her safe, but she’s hiding something and it’s up to him to figure out what.

He’s sworn to never trust another crew at his back, but his team is worth the risk. He won’t make the same mistake twice—even if it means killing the only woman who’s ever made her way past his defenses.

My review:
This book will tear you up! I LOVED IT! Zoey “Zero D” Danson is my kind of heroine; smart, nerdy with a good heart and a great sense of humor. Life has not been kind to Arsenal agent Gage Sanderson but that is about to change. This story teaches them each a different definition of family. Zero Trace is a terrific addition to the series.

Vampire's Embrace (Vampire Queen #15) by Joey W. Hill

Blurb:
Nina's twin sister Sher has been groomed to be an Inherited Servant since she was six years old. At twenty-eight, she will be given to a vampire of the Council's choosing and serve him up to 300 years. While Sher insists that Nina is no less service-oriented than herself, Nina does not see any correlation between her own desire to pursue a career as a nurse and her sister's to be the slave of a blue-blooded vampire, where she is allowed no will or dreams of her own.

It's 1941 and Nina signs up to serve with the Australian Army Nurses Service in Singapore. What happens to her when the city falls to the Japanese will shatter Nina all the way to the soul. But fate seems determined to give her more than she can bear. When her sister dies in a car crash, Nina is informed that she must take her place as an InhServ. She will be given to Lord Alistair, a vampire who sees Nina as his property, to do with as he pleases.

Even as she rages against her fate, she is baffled at Alistair's insistence on having her as his servant. Especially when the Council offers the Queensland Region Master the option of another InhServ with all the proper training to support his political needs. But that's not the most confusing thing about her new Master. The ways in which he commands her surrender to him leads her to a terrifyingly different understanding of her will and her dreams. By binding herself to him, can she become whole again, but in a way she never expected?

My review:
m/m, f/f, m/f, m/m/f
Vampire's Embrace is a smart erotic fest for the mind. Once again the author reminds us the biggest sex organ is the brain.
This story takes place in 1940’s Australia but doesn’t come off as a historical novel though it feeds the flavor. This book had a different more cerebral feeling than the rest of the series (yes even more than Brian’s book The Scientific Method) and though it is part of the series it can be read stand alone. The author takes us places rarely visited and makes us consider issues rarely dwelt upon. I adored Nina. She is put through one trial after another and comes out bent not broken and stronger than ever.
I loved this story and recommend it heartily.

Whiskey Undone (Whiskey and Lies #3) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:
Two best friends follow a dangerous and seductive path in the final standalone novel of the bestselling Whiskey and Lies series from NYT Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan.

Ainsley Harris has always kept a secret from her best friend. She’s stood by his side, helped him raise his daughter, and tried to keep her distance even though she’s been in love with him for years. She knows he has secrets of his own and she’s not willing to chance what they have on a possibility.

Loch Collins has hidden himself and his past from the world for good reason. Darkness always comes back to haunt those who fight against it, and he knows better than most. One night of temper, however, forces him to realize his true feelings for Ainsley—for better or worse.

But Loch’s former allies aren’t on his side anymore, and now not only is his life and the life of his daughter on the line, but Ainsley is in the crosshairs, as well. Together, two best friends must fight for each other and their small town, because Whiskey has never burned brighter. And danger, it seems, is ever lurking.

My review:
Break out the tissues. This is no ordinary friends to lovers story. This one will break your heart and rebuild it in glorious agony. A total win for Carrie Ann Ryan.

The Human and Her Vampires (The Covenant of New Orleans #2) by Julie Morgan

Blurb:
Can dreams become reality…

Tawne O’Brien loves adventure and dreams of living in a world where paranormal creatures exist. Orphaned at a young age, and with a string of failed relationships only adding to her misery, her books are the only salvation from a mundane existence in a universe where she feels completely alone. When her best friend asks her to come visit, her dreams of a new life suddenly become a possibility.

Tawne is introduced to four sexy-as-sin vampires and given the opportunity of a lifetime with no strings attached…or so they say. When she discovers she may only be a guinea pig to the vampires, disappointment regains the upper hand, reminding her of her place in this world.

Can Tawne find the strength inside herself to fight for what she deserves? If she doesn’t, she’ll lose everything...including any memory of her life with her vampires.

My review:
Tawne has been missing her best friend, Olivia (who we met in The Concubine and Her Vampires) When she gets a call from Olivia she is brought into a world she thought only existed in her paranormal romances. This is a story of a normal woman introduced to abnormal situations and how she deals with them. Four smoking hot guys who want only her (and a bit of her blood now and then) a job in the field she most wants to work in. Adventure and love, everything she has ever wanted so why is she having such a hard time giving in? I liked that she wasn’t a pushover. This was a fun and sexy read. Stick it out it is worth it.
Though this is the second in the series it can be read standalone.
