Pretty Shameless (Deputy Laney Briggs #2) by Jodi Linton

Blurb:
He's gunning for her heart, but aiming for her body.

Wherever deputy Laney Briggs goes, trouble always follows behind—except when Laney is the trouble. Right now, Laney is on the hunt for her not-so-bright cousin, who is wanted for gun smuggling. But there’s a sexy, hot-assed Texas Ranger on the same case, and Laney would bet her britches (and everything else she’s wearing) that Gunner Wilson knows something she doesn’t. It just requires a bit of sexy espionage...

Gunner knows all too well just how damned distracting Laney and her little red cowboy boots can be. The pure, unadulterated want between them has never been stronger—and Gunner can’t resist making her crazy. But even as she gives into every carnal craving for Gunner, Laney is determined to get her answers, one mind-meltingly hot night at a time. The only question is whether she’ll be ready for the truth...

My review:
I’ll admit to not being a big Gunnar fan.  I think he treats Laney poorly.  He knows she is hooked on him and uses that for their mutual sexual gratification but outside the sexual arena he treats her like she doesn’t have a brain.  As for Laney it is true that pickings of decent single men in her age range are slim to nonexistent in Pistol Rock but she shouldn’t settle no matter how hot the sex is. If this book was only about Laney’s men problems I would have rated this much more poorly but there is a mystery to be solved in between all the bedroom shenanigans.  There are twists and turns and fabulous secondary characters that make this a worthwhile read.  I do hope that Laney gets her act together and kicks Gunnar to the curb.  She deserves a man who doesn’t lie and or use her.

Dead Wrong (Blackmore Sisters Mystery #1) by Leighann Dobbs

Blurb:
There’s more than one secret in the old Blackmoore house. Some have been buried for a long time and some are sitting closer to the surface.

Morgan and Fiona Blackmoore enjoy their simple life in the sleepy ocean-side town of Noquitt Maine where they offer herbal remedies and crystal healing for locals and tourists alike.

...Until Morgan is accused of killing the town shrew, Prudence Littlefield.

Suddenly the girls find themselves scrambling to find the real killer while they battle a crooked Sheriff, planted evidence, and a long list of suspects that all had a reason to want Prudence dead.

Handsome Jake Cooper is new to the Noquitt Maine police force, which is exactly why Fiona Blackmoore doesn't trust him. But with time running out and the evidence against her sister piling up, Fiona has to make a choice - will she trust Jake with her sisters case ... and her own heart?

Add in an old mansion on the cliffs of Maine, an attic full of mysterious treasures, and a cat that has the uncanny ability to show up at exactly the right time and Fiona has her hands full proving the Sheriff's accusations about her sister being a murderer are Dead Wrong.

My review:
This is an easy, fun cozy mystery.  It was fun following the sisters trying to figure out who murdered the town pain and set up the eldest as the murderess all the while watching the second eldest fall for the new cop in town.  The sisters are sweet, the cop is hunky and the town is quirky.  Whats not to love.

Protecting What's His (Line of Duty #1) by Tessa Bailey

Blurb:

She’s running from the law, and the law wants her bad.

The opportunity was just too damn delicious for Ginger Peet to pass up. The purse full of money she finds—$50,000 to be exact—could give her and her teen sister the new start they need. So she grabs the cash, her gothy sibling, and their life-sized statue of Dolly Parton, and blows outta Nashville in a cloud of dust. Chicago, here we come...

Turns out, Chicago has some pretty hot cops. Hot, intense, naughty-lookin’ cops like Derek Tyler, who looks like he could eat a girl up and leave her begging for more. And more. Tempting as he is, getting involved with the sexy homicide lieutenant next door poses a teensy problem for a gal who’s on the lam. But one thing is certain—Derek’s onto her, and he wants more than just a taste.

And as far as he’s concerned, possession is nine-tenths of the law.

My review:

Beauty and the cop.  When 2 Tennessee girls end up moving next door to the hunky cop in Chicago it is time to start looking for a cow to blame the fire on.  I love that Ginger doesn’t just fall into bed with officer hottie.  I really love that the author recognizes that her readers have a brain and explains how Derek got to be a homicide lieutenant so young although she never does explain why Ginger is named Ginger when she isn’t a redhead but we know it is because she is spicy.  Aside from all that this is a fun read.

Trust No One by Jayne Ann Krentz

Blurb:
It's no coincidence when Grace Elland finds a vodka bottle next to the lifeless body of her boss, motivational speaker Sprague Witherspoon. The bottle is a terrifying--and deliberate--reminder of the horrors of her past. Grace retreats to her hometown to regroup and tries to put everything she's learned about positive thinking into practice--a process that is seriously challenged on the world's worst blind date. Awkward doesn't begin to describe her evening with venture-capitalist Julius Arkwright.

She has nothing in common with a man who lives to make money, but the intense ex-Marine does have some skills that Grace can use--and he's the perfect man to help her when it becomes clear she is being stalked.

As Witherspoon's financial empire continues to crumble around them, taking a deadly toll, Julius will help Grace step into her past to uncover a devious plan to destroy not only Grace, but everyone around her...

My review:
Trust No One is a terrific mystery.  Just when you think you’ve got it there is another twist and turn.  Grace is that girl everyone has heard of perky, optimistic and a pleasure to know despite her having killed a man in self-defense when she was 16.  Grace has struggled to deal with the PTSD which has affected her ability to hold a job till now and now her boss is dead.  Julius believes in the almighty dollar.  Trust no one and everyone has a hidden agenda are the rules he lives by.  Then he meets Grace and she rocks the foundation of his little world.  Now if he can only keep her alive.

Charmed Spirits (Holiday, Montana #1) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:
Jordan Cross has returned to Holiday, Montana after eleven long years to clear out her late aunt’s house, put it on the market, and figure out what she wants to do with the rest of her life. Soon, she finds herself facing the town that turned its back on her because she was different. Because being labeled a witch in a small town didn’t earn her many friends...especially when it wasn't a lie.

Matt Cooper has lived in Holiday his whole life. He's perfectly content being a bachelor alongside his four single brothers in a very small town. After all, the only woman he'd ever loved ran out on him without a goodbye. But now Jordan’s back and just as bewitching as ever. Can they rekindle their romance with a town set against them?

Warning: Contains an intelligent, sexy witch with an attitude and drop-dead gorgeous man who likes to work with his hands, holds a secret that might scare someone, and really, really, likes table tops for certain activities. Enough said.

My review:
Magic happens.  Jordan has been away from Holiday, Montana the town she grew up in.  She left behind small minds and the boy she loved.  She is a witch and all she ever wanted to be was normal.  She was never going to be normal there.  Matt was the boy she left behind.  The youngest of five brothers Matt is a carpenter and owner of the local hardware store.  He has never forgotten Jordan as he believes she is responsible for his becoming a ghost for five nights of the month.  Charmed Spirits is a fun tale that brings Matt and Jordan back together.

Thane (Mystic Zodiac, #1) by Brandy R. Walker

High atop Mount Olympus, the ancient Gods and Goddesses still reside, hidden from mortal view.

They have always been there.
WILL always be there.
Watching…
Judging…
Meddling.
They dabble in the lives of humans and lesser immortals, known as Mystics.
For fun. Out of boredom. Simply because they can.
They thrive on watching people squirm under their thumbs. Laugh and celebrate each other while plotting to top what they did.

Blurb:
With one more task to complete, Fallen Angel Thane will finally get what he’s dreamed about for decades…his rightful place back on Olympus. All he needs to do is keep one woman from “doing something stupid”. How hard could that be?

My review:
Eros & Chloe (aka Clotho one of the fates) have a bet going that she can do his job as good as he can. I mean after all how hard can it be to get folks to fall in love right?  Now in order to win she is going to have to match one couple a month for a year.
January’s couple is Thane, a Grigori (aka angel) and Amara an Eternal (someone with define heritage that can be turned into an immortal).
I really got a kick out of Thane & Amara’s story.  I really liked Amara she is strong and has her shit together.  Thane is hot and when he gets his shit together he is even hotter.
This is the first of what looks to be a really sexy fun series.

Hungry Like the Wolf (SWAT #1) by Paige Tyler

Blurb:

INTRODUCING SWAT: SPECIAL WOLF ALPHA TEAM
They're tight
They're on target
They're as alpha as men can get.

The Dallas SWAT team is hiding one helluva secret . . . they're a pack of wolf shifters.

The team of elite sharpshooters is ultra-secretive—and also the darlings of Dallas. This doesn't sit well with investigative journalist Mackenzie Stone. They must be hiding something . . . and she's determined to find out what.

Keeping Mac at a distance proves impossible for SWAT team commander Gage Dixon. She's smart, sexy, and makes him feel alive for the first time in years. But she's getting dangerously close to the truth—and perilously close to his heart...

My review:
Oh what fun!  This is the first in what looks to be a fabulous new series by Paige Tyler.  Sixteen hot hunks make up the Dallas SWAT team.  This outfit has the best record in the country and are hiding one hell of a secret.  Investigative journalist Mackenzie Stone is determined to discover what exactly they are hiding and if she drools a bit over the sexy leader Gage Dixon while digging for dirt who is to say she shouldn’t enjoy the perks.  But discovering the truth may very well put the man she is falling for and his team in danger.  This is a fast paced, action-packed, adventure and romance all rolled into one.  I am so looking forward future tales of the Special Wolf Alpha Team.
