Hidden Dragons by Emma Holly

In this latest installment of Emma Holly’s Hidden series we find out how Resurrection (that pocket of reality that is part Fairy and part human) came to be. Werewolf cops Rick and Tony Lupone are on the way to work when a call comes in about two pureblood fae fighting with swords. They are closest and take the call. When Rick comes upon one of the fae who is dying she tells him that he has been chosen to protect the woman who is to be the Keeper and his failure to do so might mean the destruction of Resurrection. When he finds out that the woman he is to protect is the half-fae he had a crush on in high school the job doesn't look too bad. Cass Maycee doesn't know what to think when high school hottie now Detective Rick Lupone shows up on her doorstep but she isn't kicking him to the curb either. It appears that Rick and Cass are going to have to solve a mystery and keep the bad guys from unmaking Resurrection and if they fall in love along the way so much the better.

This is an incredible story. Emma Holly always tells a smoking hot tale but she has out done herself this time. She makes this world real and the inhabitants mean something to you. I couldn't put this book down. Watching Rick and Cass learn to trust and love each other while on the run was at times painful and at others so erotic I blushed but always I needed to turn the page to see what happened next.

An English Bride in Scotland by Lynsay Sands

Another “hysterical historical” from one of my favorite authors. Poor Annabel is packed up at the tender age of 7 and sent to live in a convent. Now 14 years later she is still a novice and has yet to take the veil. She isn't a very good nun. (Think Maria from The Sound of Music). All that is changed when her elder sister runs away with the stable masters son leaving her parents in a lurch. They had promised their eldest to marry Ross MacKay and he has come to collect. So Annabel is abruptly pulled from the abbey to take her place. She is totally unprepared to be a wife and lady of the manor. But those things that made her a bad nun may be just what she will need to the wife of the MacKay. Now if the big guy in the plaid would stop trying to kidnap her.
This is a sweet, funny romance. It is obvious that Ms. Sands has done her research and had a great deal of fun with it. A little romance, a little mystery and a whole lot of fun.

The Switched Baby Scandal (A Scandals of San Sebastian Novel) by Theresa Meyers

Blurb:
His child. Her daughter. One monumental mix-up.

Single mom Taylor Lawrence just discovered that the hospital sent her home with the wrong infant five years ago. Now the headstrong and handsome biological father wants his child back. But Emily has always been her daughter, and Taylor won’t give her up without a fight.

Widower Reece Wallace believed his life was over when a drunk driver killed his wife and daughter. So when he learns of the baby switch, he sees this child as his ultimate salvation. But he never anticipated the fiery woman on the other side of this custody battle—or how she’d stir feelings in him long dormant.

As the media storm surrounding the hospital’s mistake intensifies, Taylor and Reece find there’s more to sort out than custody of Emily—they must work together to protect her while grappling with their growing attraction. Can they pick up the pieces of two broken families and meld them into something new?

My review:

OMG! Heartbreaking roller-coaster of emotions.  I cannot imagine the gamut of emotions these characters felt (but new to me) author Theresa Meyers had me laughing, crying, and ready to bi*** slap a few people.  I love it when I can get drawn in and involved with the characters to the point where I am talking to them.  This book got to me.  As a parent there is no more scary thought than losing a child. Thankfully I knew going in that there had to be a happy ending but getting there…  Break out the tissues.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Pros and Cons (O'Hare and Fox 0.5) & The Heist (O'Hare and Fox #1) by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg

Pros and Cons is the prequel to The Heist.  It introduces us to con-man Nick Fox and FBI special agent Kate O’Hare.  Fox is a fast talking, good looking, smart and savvy con-man who takes joy in teasing tough, focused FBI special agent Kate O’Hare.  In Pros and Cons Nick gets away but in The Heist Kate finally catches him.  But just when it seems that Nicolas Fox has been captured for good, he pulls off his greatest con of all: he convinces the FBI to offer him a job, working side by side with Special Agent Kate O’Hare.

Janet Evanovich does humor and snappy dialogue like nobody else.  Lee Goldberg writes quirky intrigue really well.  Combine the two and you have the beginnings of a really great series.

Just My Luck (Shamrock Falls #3) by Kelley Vitollo

Friends to lovers, marriage of convenience, super sweet contemporary.  Betsy is a shy, sweet young woman who has a crush on her boss, Jace Macnamara.  When he needs to get married to inherit his childhood home he makes a deal with Betsy.  Can they make it through the six months he needs to be married and still remain friends and work together after it’s over?
This has been done before but it is always fun to see a new spin on it.  Betsy is incredibly sweet but not a push-over.  Both Betsy and Jace have some major commitment issues and half the fun is watching them deal with it.

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.

My Review:

The very best in romantic suspense.  Although this is part of a series it can be read stand-alone.  Non-stop action and intrigue. I was bowled over by the mystery and loved the chemistry between Ryan and Anya.  Twists and turns, good guys and bad, a love story in a foreign land what more could you ask for?

Anya is a geneticist who was born in Russia.  She and her Grandmother fled to the USA when Anya’s parents died.  Now her Grandmother has been kidnapped by the Russians and Russian President Ivanov is blackmails Anya into returning to Moscow to be his future wife in exchange for her grandmother’s life.  Ryan works for the CIA.  Ryan is in Russia trying to turn an asset in Ivanov’s cabinet.  Anya turns to Ryan in hopes that he can help her find her Grandmother and free them from Ivanov’s machinations.  Ryan is CIA and doesn’t trust anyone lightly but his gut and his heart are telling him he needs Anya.  Can he rescue the girl from the bad guy and maybe save the world?  Of course he can he is a Super Agent.
