This Is Who I Am (Masters of the Shadowlands #7) by Cherise Sinclair

I almost always have problems with s/m stories.  I trust Joey W. Hill and now Cherise Sinclair to make me understand why and what folks see in it.  Not my kink but to each their own. I was floored by this book despite my misgivings about the subject matter.  Ms. Sinclair took a delicate subject and not only made it palatable she made it downright enjoyable.

Master Sam is a well-known Dominant/sadist at Shadowlands.  He was one of the men who helped rescue Linda and others from a white slavery ring.  Even before she was capture Linda was having trouble coming to terms with the fact that she was a submissive/masochist because “normal” people weren't into that kind of thing.   Sam is the last guy on earth she wants to see but may be the only guy to help her get past her capture and help her become the woman she was meant to be.

International terrorism thriller.  High speed thrills chills and excitement. Plot twists and turns politics and terrorists this reads like a Tom Cruise movie.

My One and Only by Kristan Higgins

Even divorce attorneys deserve a second chance at love.  Divorce attorney Harper James is heading to her step sisters’ destination wedding.  Willa is marrying Chris the half-brother of Harper’s ex Nick and Nick will be there as best man.  Harper hasn't seen Nick in 12 years.  Due to some computer glitches and some bad weather Harper ends up riding cross country in close quarters with Nick.  Maybe this will give them time to clear the air and move on.  Or not.
This story was a little different than the other Kristan Higgins stories I've read recently.  It is a little darker or more serious.  It has its light moments and a truly movie worthy proposal.  I really enjoyed it and can’t seem to get enough Kristan Higgins.

Steadfast (Elemental Masters #9) by Mercedes Lackey

Another sterling example of why Mercedes Lackey is one of my all-time favorite authors.  She can take you to new worlds and new times and you feel as if you are there.  I am character driven.  If I can relate to the characters in anyway the story is that much better.  Mercedes Lackey does great characters.

Untrained and unawakened Fire Magician Kate is on the run from her abusive husband.  In Edwardian Britain the law is on his side.  She is his to do with as he wishes.  Dogs and horses have more rights than she does.  She ends up in Brighton where she gets a job as a magicians assistant to Air Magician Lionel Hawkins.  Lionel and Jack Prescott, the doorman at the theater who is a wounded vet and a Fire Magician, help Kate realize and train her gifts.  She hopes that it will be enough to save her if/when her husband finds her.

Fans of Amanda Quick will enjoy this series.  They can be read stand alone.

She's the One (Counting on Love, #1) by Erin Nicholas

I have a new book boyfriend.  Ryan Kaye just flat out does it for me.  He is smart, sexy, funny, physically fit and comfortable in his own skin.  That he is a hero in his day job doesn't hurt.  Amanda Dixon is the big sister and takes care of everyone.  Ryan is the live and let live type until he thinks about Amanda.  She digs deeper and cares more than anyone he knows and it gets to him in ways he didn't expect.  Amanda needs to loosen up and play a little and Ryan can give her that.  I LOVED this story. It has all the elements you need for a great romance.  It is funny and sweet and has a terrific supporting cast.  There are some totally smoking hot love scenes and there is, of course, drama.  I am anxiously awaiting the next installment.

This is a short re-release from Melissa Schroeder’s back list.  I loved Jonas.  He respected Pru and her plus size was a plus for him.  I've met a lot big men over the years that would agree with Jonas that skinny girls are breakable.  If you want a short sweet sexy read pick this up.
