Shift in Magic (Misfit Bay #1) by Milly Taiden

Blurb:

Wonky witchcraft, shifter magic, and romance run wild in Misfit Bay, Louisiana.

Workaholic Clara has had enough of the corporate rat race. She yearns for more in life—companionship, laughter, and dare she say love? Leaving all she knows, she moves to Misfit Bay with two friends to start over. Quickly, Clara learns that the climate isn’t the only thing steamy in the South.

Clint is a broken wolf shifter who can’t control his shifting nature. During each full moon, he is forced into his animal form and not released until days later. Outcast from his pack, his life has been lonely until he meets the lovely Clara. Hope grows in his heart that maybe his loneliness might come to an end.

When Clara uses witchcraft to help Clint’s shifting, a sinister plot comes to light that not only pulls them apart, but brings evil to their unsuspecting town. Time is running out for Clara and her friends to figure out how their powers can save the man she loves. If they fail, her new love life in Misfit Bay could come to a premature end.

My review:

If you want a quick smexy PNR, Milly Taiden is my go-to author. This story does not disappoint. Three young witches get together and move to Misfit Bay, Louisiana. They discover that shifters are real and come in several flavors. Break out the ice water cause this one will make you sweat.

Boss Daddy (Daddies Inc. #1) by Lucky Moon

Blurb:

Billionaire Montague Manners has everything. Except his Forever Girl.

Daisy Grove is meant to be on her honeymoon. Instead, she’s fearing for her life.

After running away from the altar, she tells a white lie to get a job. Now she’s PA to the formidable, drop-dead gorgeous, and completely infuriating
and completely infuriating boss of Daddies Inc.

Grumpy workaholic Montague hates distractions. When he meets the inconveniently beautiful and ridiculously cheerful Daisy, he’s wary. She’s too attractive to be around but too tempting to ignore.

When
dominant Montague finds out Daisy’s been keeping her true self from him, it’s time for discipline. Will she be able to take what her Daddy Dom boss doles out?

And if she’s a good girl for him, can he
keep her safe?

But what happens when she discovers he’s guarding the biggest
secret of all?

Daddy’s Inc is a multibillion-dollar corporation dedicated to giving Bigs and Littles everything they need for their lifestyle. Every story can be read as a standalone, every Daddy is different, and the heat level is off the charts.

Trigger warning: contains an emotionally abusive / controlling ex -- but a truly happy ending for the heroine and her new man, as always!

My review:

Daisy is adorable. She is just trying to get by. Freshly out of an abusive relationship she takes a shot and gets a job working for a grumpy guy who can’t keep a copy writer for love nor money. Daisy brings sunshine wherever she goes. Which will win sunshine or gloom. Enjoy finding out.

Wanted in the Midlife (Fanged After Forty #6) by Lia Davis & L.A. Boruff

Blurb:

Now that the council has been dealt with, things should be coming up roses for Hailey and Jaxon. Dealing with the corruption within the vampire council was supposed to return their lives to normal, but it turns out nothing is normal in the life of a Bond Girl, and it isn’t long before she realizes that downtime isn’t in the cards for her or her new extended family.

When Jax gets devastating news, he and Hailey will be in the fight of their lives. It turns out hunters know
vampires aren’t extinct, and witches aren’t on their hunting list anymore. And the matriarch of the hunters? She’s fierce, not taking any ish, and wants every last vampire dead.

Convincing the hunters not to attack, or figuring out how to be stronger, faster, and deadlier than ever, are the only options Hailey and Jax have.

When the council puts a bounty on vampire rogues, Hailey’s who they’ll count on to bring them all in with the help of her trusty friends and brother, who suddenly thinks he’s going to be the best bounty hunter the vampire world has ever seen.
Yeah, this is going to go well.

If that wasn’t enough, they still have to figure out what to do about Paige and Claudia, Kendra burning the candle at both ends, and Goldie’s missing family. A little shifter has no business being raised by vampires, right?

Something clearly has to give, but they’re determined that it won’t be them. After all, they’re a team, and they’re going to face everything together because that’s exactly what teams do.

My review:

I loved it! Have you read the others in this series? No? Do so now or you won’t get half the enjoyment from this book also you should check out the Witching After Forty series because that’s where we met the hunters and because it’s hilarious. If you have read all or some of the above prepare to dive in and enjoy.

Unholy Murder by Candace Blevins

Blurb:

Lieutenant Veronica Woods is a tiger-shifter who’s been on a three-week whirlwind vacation with her vampire. How many history geeks get to be shown around Italy by an ancient Roman general?

Josef is madly in love with his tigress. He’ll do anything to keep her safe, but the killer she’s after is someone that even Josef’s two thousand years of military and security experience can’t find.

Meanwhile, bodies are piling up. Human, but without skin. Ronnie is a cop first, but when it’s a supernatural killer, she’ll have to work outside official channels to catch a murderer.

* We first met Ronnie and Josef in
Unhallowed Murder. It is recommended you read it before reading Unholy Murder.

My review:

One of my favorite couples is back. Ronnie and Josef are the Eve Dallas and Roarke of the paranormal world. This story takes place four years after Unhallowed Murder which I reread before tackling this. I love the way they’ve grown as characters and as a couple. This story follows Ronnie as she tackles a freaky serial killer that spans both the human and paranormal community. We get to see a lot of old friends in this story. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Final Heir (Jane Yellowrock #15) by Faith Hunter

Blurb:

The stakes couldn’t be higher in the newest novel in the New York Times bestselling, pulse-pounding Jane Yellowrock series.

Jane Yellowrock is the queen of the vampires, and that makes her a target as she fights to maintain control and keep peace in the city of New Orleans. She has enemies at every turn, because vampires live forever, and they keep their grudges alive with them. That includes the Heir, the vampire sire of the Pellissier bloodline, which gave rise to Leo Pellissier himself—Jane’s old boss and the former master of the city.

With the Heir and all the forces of darkness he can muster arrayed against her, Jane will need all the help she can get. She’ll find it in her city, her friends, her found family, and, of course, the Beast inside of her.

My review:

WOW! I’m exhausted. Jane and the gang close off several lingering questions in this book but they bleed to do it. A LOT. The changes are staggering and cost Jane physically and emotionally. Strap in, buckle up and hang on for a heck of a ride.

When Life Gives You Vampires by Gloria Duke

Blurb:

A paranormal Dumplin' for adults, When Life Gives You Vampires is part a journey of body positivity, part a story about learning how to accept love at face value, and part a hysterical romcom told through a paranormal lens.

Twenty-five year old Lily Baines is used to waking up hungover, overweight, and underemployed. Waking up with fangs? Not so much. But when it turns out a little light necking has more serious consequences than she ever imagined, Lily's determined to get to the bottom of it.

Tristan hadn't meant to turn Lily—it's against vampire law—but now that she's here, they need to team up to save their hides. They strike a truce, fending off other vampires, Lily's work-rival-turned-slayer, and her mother's tone-deaf romance and fitness advice—all while Lily faces down her insecurities about the fact that she lives in a diet-obsessed world with a body that will never age, never die, and never change. Can she learn to love the (plus size) woman she'll be forever more?

My review:

I found this to be a fun journey featuring a plus size young woman with body issues and an old-fashioned guy haunted by issues from his past. I really loved Lilys best friend Cat. I could relate to Cat when she flat out tells Lily that she is more than the skin she inhabits and to learn to love herself no matter how much she weighs. There were times I wanted to Gibbs slap both Lily and Tristan. But ultimately, I enjoyed their tale.

The Experiment (The Experiment Series Book 1) by Piper Mackenzie

Blurb:

Note : This book has a ‘cliffhanger’ ending. Some situations will not be resolved until later books in this series.

He’s so out of my league. ~ Katie

It was for my own good.
Help I didn’t want, but desperately needed.
I was too young to close myself off from life, wrapped in depression, clinging to a wine bottle.
Go to work, go home. Drink. Repeat.
So a few weeks of immersive group therapy was what my counselor strongly suggested. A summer help-camp, if you will.
Sure, okay. Whatever.
Now here I am, the anti-social wino in a social experiment. I’ve made one friend–and one enemy. And then there’s
him…I can’t stop the attraction I feel toward him, even though I don’t stand a chance. He’s a movie star, for pete’s sake! A movie star who apparently is as drawn to me as I am to him…

She’s too good for me. ~ Grayson

I don’t want to be here.
Court-ordered therapy.
Yeah, so I’ve made some
(public) mistakes. I’m just here to do my time and then back to Hollywood. The last thing I want is to be the main attraction at the nuthouse, but the stares and whispers and giggling flirtations start the minute I walk in.
All except
her. I’m not sure she even knows who I am. It’s the most refreshing, liberating…real, thing I’ve felt in years. And the more time I spend with her, the more I realize what I’ve been missing in my life.
It’s like she was made for me.
Yet, I don’t deserve her.
And there’s something odd going on here. I don’t even know how to explain it, but it’s like a vice is tightening around us. Like we’re all chess pieces in a game we weren’t aware of. I’ll be glad when we can leave this ‘experiment’…

My review:

This book is a total mind bender. A psychological experiment that will have you questioning everything. The characters are fully fleshed, and you will recognize the types. Katie and Grayson are adorable. I can’t wait for the next installment.
