Marked For Havoc (Crashed And Claimed Book 7) by Susan Hayes

Blurb:

It was supposed to be a business trip… How did it turn into a fight for survival?

If she doesn’t want her family’s business to wind up as broken as her newly voided marriage contract, Maddison needs a miracle. Too bad for her, the universe is all out. Her ship was shot down. Her plans have exploded. And her best shot at staying alive is a brooding beast of an alien with horns, fangs, and a crazy conviction that she belongs to him.

She’s been hurt too often to trust easily, but there’s no way to survive without his help. He’s the most dangerous male she’s ever met… a threat to their enemies and her heart.

**Buckle up. This sci-fi romance contains an alien with fur, fangs, horns, and a very possessive attitude when it comes to the woman he’s claimed for his own.

My review:

Marked For Havoc is a wonderful addition to the series. Havoc is as big and brawny as his brethren but he lives in his head. He always has a plan. But he never could have planned for Maddi. Maddi wasn’t made for adventuring but darned if this isn’t the best adventure of her life. Insta-love, danger and finding out that she’s stronger than she believes. Another winner.

Jordan (Shifted Hearts of Crescent Cove Book 5) by Robbie Cox

Blurb:

She hates dirt. He prefers solitude. But when the mountain traps them together, the heat has nothing to do with the fire.

Rene Richardson didn’t sign up for flannel-clad wilderness or smoldering mountain men who speak more with their eyes than their words.

Jordan Sinclair lives for silence, survival, and definitely not romance—especially not with a sassy, big-city hotel planner who thinks hiking is a form of torture.

But when a snowstorm leaves them stranded on Wintry Bluff, they’ll have to rely on each other to survive. Between stolen glances, body heat-sharing, and one very judgmental raccoon, sparks fly—and resisting fate gets harder with every breathless heartbeat.

My review:

Country mouse/City mouse. Despite his brothers finding their mates and happiness Jordan is content to live alone on the mountain. Rene is more of a creature comfort kinda gal. Indoor plumbing heat and a/c that kind of thing. When Jordans wolf screams MATE! upon scenting Rene, Jordan is determined to ignore his wolf until she returns to the city. Fate has other plans and it turns out that fate knows what she’s about. I loved this story. Rene is smart and snarky and my kind of gal. Hitch is perfect comic relief and Jordan is just sweet enough to make you root for him.

Cannon (Black Blade Protection Book 2) by Becca Jameson

Blurb:

Eloise
My life sucks.
It has from the moment I was born.
My car is out of gas on the side of the highway.
A nice man stops to help me.
But are there any nice men living on Earth?
Apparently not.
I’m not even surprised when he takes me hostage.
I’m almost too tired to care.
Kill me now and put me out of my misery.

Cannon
The woman I rescue is broken.
She doesn’t trust me.
She won’t even give me her name.
The mention of going to the police makes her panic.
There’s no way I can leave her and walk away.
What she needs is for someone to offer her a leg up.
I am that man, and I’ll prove it.
Because there’s no way I can let her go.
She's coming home with me.

My review:

If morally gray is your color than this series is for you. Eloise is smart, strong a survivor. Cannon is patient and caring just what Eloise needs.  He falls first. I adore them both.

This story takes place right after Blade but can be read standalone.

The Other Team: An Interconnected MM Spicy Romance by G. R. George

The Other Team: An Interconnected MM Spicy Romance by G. R. George

Blurb:

At the heart of a bustling gay sports bar called The Other Team Bar & Grill, eight men's lives collide, intertwine, and change forever.

Over the course of several charged months, love sparks in unexpected ways.
A seasoned doctor risks his heart on a younger bar owner.
Two former foster brothers confront the truth of their lifelong bond.
An uptight academic falls hard for a tattooed cook from the wrong side of the tracks.
A grieving bartender finds solace in the arms of a soldier who may not be as straight as he claims.

As friendships deepen and passions are stoked, The Other Team becomes more than a bar. It’s a haven where broken men dare to hope for something more.

In the months that follow, love is tested.

Old lovers resurface, past traumas refuse to stay buried, families intrude, distance strains fragile bonds, and fear threatens to undo what passion built.

Each couple must decide whether desire is enough and if they’re brave enough to fight for lasting love.

This interconnected romance series explores what happens after the happily-ever-after begins, proving that love doesn’t end when the bar closes…it only gets harder, deeper, and more real.

Spice Level - 5 Chili Peppers
Tropes: age gap, friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, first time, rich-poor, opposites attract, found family, second chance romance, bi-awakening

** Previously published as the Cocktail series in 8 short novellas in 2015-2106

My review:

The Other Team is a seriously steamy set of 8 vignettes featuring four couples who go from lust to love. I loved each of these couples so so much. A surgeon and the bar owner age gap and problematic exes make the choice to be each others only. Foster brothers and best friends who choose to be more. A student and an intern who come from opposite sides of the track; these guys were my favorite couple. And then there is the straight guy (gay for you) and the bar tender. These stories will make you laugh, cry and sweat.

Legacy (Ashford Creek #1) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:

With one scowl, I fell just that much harder for Callum Ashford—NFL star turned small town brewer. He’s not only older, but he’s my brother’s best friend. Two very important reasons I should stay away.
Only two years ago, after the worst night of my life, he kissed me and I can’t keep him off my mind.
When the only house available to rent in town happens to be the one across the street from him, the close proximity does its work.
We can’t keep our hands off each other. Yet as the heat rises, so do feelings. He might want me, but he wants peace more.
There’s a darkness within him I know he fights. Just as there are secrets his family needs to uncover. But when the danger comes full force, it won’t be from the obvious corner. No, we both have our pasts we chose to hide.
And our fears.
Yet when I break, he catches me.
And I hope I have the strength to do the same.

My review:

I expect a Carrie Ann Ryan story to tug the heartstrings. This one is no exception but the humor in this one made me laugh out loud. There is a joy in this story that left me with a smile and looking forward to Bodhi’s tale.

Cold Case K-9 (Crooked Pass Security Book 3) by Caridad PiƱeiro

Blurb:

Only a competent K9 and her handler

Could find her sister’s killer.

CBI Agent Gabriella Ruiz is convinced a missing hiker is a reemerging serial killer’s next victim. Believing she’s too close to the case, the Bureau refuses to follow her hunch. Luckily, Gabriella finds unexpected help in Crooked Pass Security’s unique investigative team. Expert tracker Diego Rodriguez and his faithful K-9, Poppy, go searching for clues from the ground up. But when the killer focuses on Gabriella, Diego—and Poppy—must keep her safe from the killer’s dangerous grasp.

My review:

An intriguing mystery from page 1. The author has you feeling for these characters right from the start. Diego and Poppy being bored. Gabriella’s strength and smarts. This book grabbed me and wouldn’t let me go till long after the last page.

Marine Protector (Brotherhood Protectors World) by Debra Parmley

Blurb:

Phoebe “Red” Adams swore she was never going to join any kind of group again. And the tattoo on her skin and under her skin, which read “property of Z”, had to go. At the Three C’s ranch, she was determined to learn how to fight hard and how to step into a new life. She’d go to the required classes and otherwise keep to herself. The last thing she was looking for was a new man. She was too busy hiding from her violent ex and his motorcycle club, for if Z found her; she knew he would kill her.

Sergeant Tim “Timbers” Watson USMC opted not to re-enlist in order to stay home when he learned his dad had six months to live. After his father’s death, when an offer came in from the Brotherhood Protectors, he stepped up. Providing security would be a breeze compared to his time in Iraq.

Little did she know that when she met Timbers, her walls would start coming down. He wasn’t put off by Red’s attitude or the walls she’d put up. He’d take those logs down slowly and show her the difference between her controlling, violent ex and this Marine who fought for his country and his women to be independent.

My review:

This is an exciting rollercoaster ride that will have you rooting for the underdog from the start. This is a heartwarming tale of new beginnings and learning to live again. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Can be read standalone.

No One Knew (Noelle Marshall #2) by Kendra Elliot

Blurb:

For a detective and an FBI agent, two seemingly disparate murder investigations collide with a twist in an explosive novel of suspense by a Wall Street Journal bestselling author.

In the crisp mountain air of central Oregon, a teenage girl’s search for discarded cans leads to a horrifying discovery: a body, brutally murdered and abandoned in the woods. The case falls to Deschutes County Detective Noelle Marshall, who finds herself navigating a community steeped in secrets, suspicion, and distrust of outsiders—especially law enforcement.

Miles away, FBI Special Agent Max Rhodes investigates a different kind of darkness—chatter about a violent uprising from a shadowy militia group preparing for war. The two cases seem worlds apart. But as Noelle digs into the murdered man’s past and Max closes in on the source of the terror plot, their paths begin to converge in a terrifying way. This was no random killing. It was a message. A merciless killer and a hidden army are operating in the same shadows, and finding the link between them is the only thing standing between a single murder and a full-blown massacre.

My review:

Murder, mystery and intrigue. This second installment in the tales of Deschutes County Detective Noelle Marshall is exciting in all the best ways. With crossover investigations and secrets being revealed both personally and professionally this book kept me riveted. Watching Max and Noelle grow closer made me smile. I’ve fallen for these characters and can’t wait for the next installment.

This is a reissue which includes updated content and a never before seen epilogue for readers to enjoy!

My review:

I LOVED THIS STORY!  Mac and Vic are meant to be but a business disagreement has them split. Both are miserable but stubborn. Now Mac has to ask Vic for help with a case. Can they keep from falling into bad habits? The author brings these characters to life in a thrilling adventure. Well worth the read.
