Must Love Familiars (Sable Cove #1) by R.E. Butler

Blurb:

When an abandoned familiar appears on the doorstep of the Sable Cove Familiar Rescue, witch Delaney St. Charles knows just what to do with the scared feline. If only her love life were as easy to deal with as her love for familiars.

Vampire Brody Carmichael hasn’t been living in Sable Cove long, but he likes the quietness of the small, seaside town. A transplant from a big city, he’s enjoying the laid-back attitude of the townsfolk and trying to figure out how to get to know the gorgeous witch Delaney.

When a warlock tries to abduct an abandoned familiar and it appears that Delaney’s life is in jeopardy, Brody will stop at nothing to protect her and get to the bottom of the mystery surrounding the kitten. Will Delaney get an opportunity to find out what Brody looks like underneath the uniform, or will her life be snuffed out before she even has a chance to discover what it’s like to kiss a man with fangs?

My review:

Whats not to love? Cute critters, hunky cops and sassy witches. Add in a mystery and you have an adorable cozy.

I really got a kick out of Brody and Delaney awkwardly finding their way to love. With a cast of quirky side characters I am looking forward to more visits to Sable Cove.

Jasper (Dark Ops Daddies Book 2) by Kate Oliver

Blurb:

Ariana
I’ve spent the past few years going wherever my free-spirited heart takes me..
My beat-up RV is the only constant… until it dies in the middle of a postcard-perfect mountain town.
I’ve survived worse. I can survive this.
But then he shows up.
Grumpy. Bossy. Infuriatingly gorgeous.
Jasper thinks he can fix my problems—and maybe even me.
Part of me wants to let him.
Even if I know that this will end in a shattered heart and broken spirit.
Because no one has ever wanted to keep me before, so why would he?

Jasper
All I wanted was my coffee—black, quiet, and drama-free.
What I got? A pink-haired hurricane with sticky fingers and a smile that could ruin a man.
I guess she doesn’t know what happens to naughty girls who steal.
Then she looks at me with those lost blue eyes and something tugs at my cold black heart.
She needs a Daddy.
She needs me.
And I think I need her too.
But one of these days, she’s going to leave and I’m going to be even more broken than I already am.

My review:

Jasper is a grumpy Daddy Dom who is immediately taken with the pink haired pickpocket he catches in the coffee shop.  Ariana is doing what she has to to get by. Her car is broken down, She’s living in an old rv trailer with no heat with a bald cat named Fluffy. She would get a job but her skills don’t translate to regular employment. Jasper and she may have similar backgrounds but they are opposites in nature. These two had me on the edge of tears, laughing and swooning.

Rocking the Trucker (Trucker Love #3) by Cooper McKenzie

Blurb:

Two years ago, Gabriel Park screwed up and his life and career as a rock star imploded, losing his band, his freedom, and the love of his life. While in jail, Gabriel cleaned up his body and his life with the hopes of a second chance with his love while rebuilding his career.

For two years, Sam Myles stayed off the road while trying to convince himself that he no longer loved the man who walked away. When a new contract comes in demanding he be the driver, Sam is forced back behind the wheel. After seeing Gabriel again, Sam realizes he’s been lying to himself.

Will Gabriel apologize and make amends for the past? Will Gabriel be able to redeem himself with the fans as well as the man he still loves? Can Sam forgive and leave the past where it belongs, in the past?

My review:

Rocking the Trucker is a tale of redemption and second chances at the life rocker Gabriel Park wanted and with the man he has loved and lost through his own stupid choices. Two years in jail gave him plenty of time to think about things.

I loved watching Gabriel make better choices and like Sam I fell for him all over again.

Wild and Wrangled (Rebel Blue Ranch #4) by Lyla Sage

Blurb:

She’s the one that got away. He’s the one that never let her go.

Camille Ashwood had always loved a plan. Her latest was her best yet. She was going to get married so she could secure her daughter’s future, get her overbearing parents off her back, and finally start building her own life in small-town Meadowlark, Wyoming. Easy, right?

But when her groom doesn’t show up to the wedding, Cam’s life is turned upside down—she doesn’t even have a place to live. That is until she finds out the house she’s loved since high school is available to rent. There’s only one problem: the neighbor.

Dusty Tucker has spent nearly all of his adult life running. Running from what, though? More like who: Cam Ashwood. But ever since he returned home last year, the girl who was his first, well, everything has become a woman seemingly determined to keep him at arm’s length. And he was okay with that—at least, that’s what he kept telling himself. She was getting married, after all. But now she’s single and living next door. Dusty wants to show her that they can be friends, and that he can stay put.

Despite her best attempts to stay far away from Dusty Tucker, Cam realizes that being close to him is like slipping into her favorite jeans. Easy. Comfortable. That is until past wounds start to open and feelings—both old and new—wreak havoc. Nearly ten years after they first met, Dusty and Cam begin to wonder if their first love can also be their last. And this time, will it be forever?

My review:

My heart sang with this tale of second chances. Dusty and Cam were high school sweethearts separated by life choices. Fifteen years later they are once again in the same place at the same time can they get past the past and have the future their love promised so long ago? I have really enjoyed this series.

Where There's a Will: A Rockstar Romance (Mythic Beast #1) by Candace Blevins

Blurb:

Lord Byron is the frontman for Mythic Beast, one of the top pop-rock bands on the planet. He’s been quite public about the fact he’s bisexual, and when he finally settles down he intends to have a poly group with at least one man and one woman.

But when he isn’t on stage, he’s Will to his friends and is often in disguise so the public won’t recognize him. He beds lots of men and women while in his Lord Byron persona, but rarely meets people he’s interested in when he’s Will.

But then he meets a young man who doesn’t have a clue who Will is despite the fact he isn’t in disguise, and halfway through dinner, Will’s pretty sure he’s found the first part of his poly group.

Unfortunately, it’s never as easy as negotiating a power-exchange contract and living happily ever after.

My review:

This is a power exchange romance that happens to feature a rock star. This story is more about Will and Davy finding their relationship and learning each other.  The attraction is instantaneous and incendiary. I was less than thrilled with the ending but look forward to reading the next book to find out if they make it work or let it implode.

My review:

Diego Campos is in a dark place and ready to give it all up when he meets an intriguing woman who gives him hope. But Leila is on the edge of death and he has to dig deep to save her and give up some long held beliefs to keep her. My heart bled for Diego and Leila. This is an action filled romance that will break your heart and rebuild it. A great addition to the series.

Archangel's Ascension (Guild Hunter #17) by Nalini Singh

Blurb:

New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh takes us back to her breathtakingly passionate Guild Hunter World, where an impending transformation will be both an ending and a beginning…

Aodhan and Illium. Adi and Blue. Sparkle and Bluebell. Friends become lovers, their future a wild unknown.

Finally reunited in New York, they must now learn to navigate the monumental shift in their relationship. But for these two members of Archangel Raphael’s legendary Seven, there is no time to rest. As they investigate a case for the Tower that echoes the darkness from Aodhan’s past, they will be forced to confront not only the scars that mark them both, but the promise of a vast power that flickers in Illium.

The threat of ascension has haunted and troubled Aodhan’s Blue for too long, the forces of change immutable ...and uncaring of Illium’s fierce wish to remain part of the Seven. Change is a constant in an immortal’s life, and this new horizon will bring with it both terrible heartbreak and a joy extraordinary enough to reverberate through time…

My review:

Oh my heart! I couldn’t have wished for a more perfect story for two of my very favorite characters from this series. Illium and Aodhan have gone through so much to get to their happy place and then fate throws them a curveball of immense proportion. Can their love and history survive Illium’s ascension?  I love, love, loved this beautifully written story.

Secrets, Lies and Fireflies (Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries #14) by Angie Fox

Blurb:

Verity’s family tree has deep roots…and deadly secrets
Some families pass down antiques or china. Verity’s family? They can’t seem to pass up a good mystery. So when Verity’s dearly departed grandmother drops by unexpectedly, Verity is overjoyed—until she learns Grandma Didi is back with a chilling request tied to a cherished family heirloom.

With the help of her ghostly sidekick Frankie—who is too busy declaring her grandmother his ultimate nemesis—Verity traces a trail of clues from her beloved family home to a forgotten suffragette hideout to a secret enclave hidden in the Sugarland Library itself.

But every discovery pulls Verity deeper into danger, and some in Sugarland will stop at nothing to keep the past buried. If Verity isn’t careful, she could lose more than her family legacy—she could end up following her grandmother to the other side.

My review:

From skunk agility training to a burning building (or two)  and a family secret this book had it all. Verity with the help of her ghostly grsndmother and her gangster ghost Frankie take on a mystery from several generations back with current consequences. This book had me laughing and shaking and downright enjoying.

Wraith (Devil Daddies MC #1) by Pepper North

Blurb:

If you want to make trouble, you’ll have to make it past Wraith first.

Wraith has a knack for spotting a brawl long before it happens. Getting on his bad side is definitely not recommended. When his eyes linger on a deliciously curvy woman, he’s instantly concerned by her attempts to blend in with the crowd. Who taught this special treat to react with fear?

Caroline Sweets wants to be anywhere but at the biker bar. She’s there doing research for her latest romance novel. Surely, the popular MC romance genre will be her key to fame and wealth. If only that burly biker didn’t check all her own boxes for a sexy leading man.

The members of the Devil Daddies MC will risk all to secure two things: special acquisitions and women with a Little side.

My review:

Wraith is the first in a new spinoff from The Shadowridge Guardians MC series.

Caroline Sweets is an aptly named author with a problematic ex-husband and an eye for a hunky biker. When these two get together it is exciting, a little scary and totally steamy.

Be a Detective, They Said. It'll Be Fun, They Said (Accidental Detective Mystery #3) Dakota Cassidy

Be a Detective, They Said. It'll Be Fun, They Said (Accidental Detective Mystery #3) Dakota Cassidy

Blurb:

Wanda Jefferson, vampire/werewolf hybrid and (very) reluctant temporary PTA president, reporting for duty!

Yes, yes, yes. I’m a PTA member. Don’t be so shocked. I’d do anything for my two precious babies, Olivia and Sam, including whip up batches of cupcakes late into the night for their annual bake sale at the Paranormal School for the Gifted. And if I have to endure the most insufferable, controlling, bossy-pants PTA president in all of existence who goes by the name Neerie Lincoln-- so be it.

Except today, Neerie’s a no-show, leaving me in charge of the event. Inconceivable! The domineering little fae would never willingly miss the school’s biggest fundraising event. Who else will properly ensure sweet and savory treats never grace the same table?

Neerie’s sister claims she’s been missing for two days. When she begs me and my besties, Nina and Marty, to put our fledgling detective skills to work to find her, we’re reluctant. I mean, there’s no love lost for the PTA president. However, she’s left behind a little girl who misses her mommy something fierce—and THAT we can’t ignore.

Of course, Neerie has also left a recently disgruntled ex, a loser baby-daddy, and a long line of horribly mistreated people in her wake.

Read: the suspect list is sizeable. Any one of a dozen people have reason to want to un-alive the crazy fairy, up to and including the school janitor.

Oh…and have we mentioned Neerie’s absolutely obsessed with conspiracy theories? And the human groups devoted to them?

Yep. The suspect pool just got a whole lot bigger.

Diving headlong into Neerie’s crazy world of nutball conspiracies, Nina, Marty and I thought we’d seen every form of weird during our various Accidental adventures.

We were SO wrong…

My review:

Just when you think they’ve seen it all Wanda, Marty and Nina find some new and fantastical creatures that blow even their minds.  The accidental detectives third case is a missing persons case of the irritating, tyrannical and whacked out president of the pta. She may be a pita but her little girl is adorable and deserves her mommy no matter what. Through dogged determination and a whole lot of luck these ladies manage to get the job done.
