Single Dad Hockey Star (Walker Brothers at Willow Creek Ranch 1) by Rose Luv

Single Dad Hockey Star (Walker Brothers at Willow Creek Ranch 1) by Rose Luv

Blurb:

To revive publicity for my hockey club, my manager stuck me with a sassy reporter, who has to write about me, the team captain, to try to revive my club’s fading fan base.

As pretty as she is, she is my enemy, as reporters have always made my son’s life difficult.

As a single dad, it is my job to protect him from anything and everything. Including this smart, little, nosy lady.

I am attracted to her determination and strong personality. She is very kind towards my son.

But, it is likely all a front, to get me sharing details of my life with her, so she can smear me over her magazine. Or is it?

Due to our forced proximity, I’m torn between, wanting to ask her out and knowing that the closer I get to her, the greater the risk of her articles bringing turmoil into my life.

I have to decide if I am willing to risk my public image or continue to keep her at a distance.

My review:

Single Dad Hockey Star tells the tale of a hockey star of a fading team who is trying to raise his son after an ugly divorce. The press dragged him through the mud and didn’t spare his young son. So when the team manager sets him up to be trailed by a pretty reporter to gin up attention for the team Logan is not thrilled. Olivia is not excited about this assignment but she is a pro and will do the job no matter how hostile Logan is.

This is a sweet closed door romance that will leave you with a smile.

Blade (Shadowridge Guardians MC #10) by Pepper North

Blurb:

“Blue eyes, your secret is safe with me.”

Sapphire Jones owns a small jewelry store in town. She is instantly on alert when a tough-looking biker with way too many obvious blades decorating his leather vest reveals his tender side. And that lock of wavy hair that falls over his forehead? It takes all she has inside to keep from brushing it off the handsome man’s face.

Blade loves the feel of a well-formed piece of steel in his hand. As the MC’s weaponry expert, he enjoys combining artistry and protection. One glance at a medallion tells him to find the artist. After a consultation with the blue-eyed beauty, he's dreaming of much more.

Can he convince her to take a ride on the wild side?

My review:

Blade is a big biker with a heart of gold. Toddlers can see right through his tough exterior. Sapphire is an artist who makes and sells her own jewelry. When Blade meets the blue haired, tatted woman he is smitten. Theirs is a sweet and sassy love story.

I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com by Kimberly Lemming

I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com by Kimberly Lemming

Blurb:

A hilarious and sexy romance about a woman who gets dropped on a strange planet only to fall for not one, but two, aliens, from the author of I Got Drunk and Yeeted a Love Potion at a Werewolf.

Dorothy Valentine is close to getting her PhD in wildlife biology when she’s attacked by a lion. On the bright side, she’s saved! On the not-so-bright side, it’s because they’re abducted by aliens. In her scramble to escape, Dory and the lion commandeer an escape pod and crash-land on an alien planet that has...dinosaurs?

Dory and her new lion bestie, Toto, are saved in the nick of time by a mysterious and sexy alien, Sol. On their new adventure, they team up with the equally hot, equally dangerous Lok, who may or may not be a war criminal. Whether it be trauma, fate, or intrigue, Dory can’t resist the attraction that’s developing in their trio....

As this ragtag group of misfits explore their new planet, Dory learns more about how and why they’ve all ended up together, battles more prehistoric creatures than she imagined (she imagined...zero), and questions if she even wants to go back home to Earth in this hilarious and steamy alien romance adventure comedy romp.

My review:

Laugh out loud funny. Check your brain at the door and enjoy. This is escapism at its best. I giggle-snorted my way through this fast-paced adventure.

Dog Biscuits and Dead Bodies (Pupcakes and Peril Book 1) by Paige Tyler

Blurb:

Life couldn’t be better for Pupcakes Bakery owner Tassie Drake. (Well…life could always be better, but things were pretty doggone good.) Her sister was handling the mind-numbing paperwork of the bakery, and the long Maine winter was over, which meant more bakery business and more walks in the park with her Chiweenie, Baxter––when she wasn’t baking delectably cute doggy treats, that is.

However, discovering a dead body on the way to the park was not on Tassie’s to-do list. The fact he was the meanest get-off-my-lawn old man in town didn’t make it better. The fact Tassie’s best friend was being charged with the murder made it worse. And while the town’s new detective, Jack Sterling, might be very (incredibly, drop-dead––oops, bad choice of words) handsome, he had the wrong suspect.

It’s up to Tassie and Baxter to find the real killer––and there is a town full of suspects––before her friend takes the fall. But staying ahead of a cold-blooded murderer is no piece of pupcake…

Dog Biscuits and Dead Bodies is the first book in the Pupcakes and Peril cozy mystery series. If you love smart female sleuths, adorable sidekicks with four paws, and small towns full of quirky characters, you’ll adore reading about Tassie and Baxter’s adventures!

Includes recipes for homemade dog treats!

My review:

Dog Biscuits and Dead Bodies is the delightful first book in a new cozy mystery series. This book features two sisters who run a dog treat bakery, their friends and their adorable puppies. (okay I call all dogs no matter their age puppies) And of course there is the hunky new detective in town and his puppy. When Tassie (at the insistence of her chiweenie Baxter) finds the dead body of the town grump things get interesting. Follow as Tassie, Baxter and Detective Jack find the killer.

I had a blast reading this and look forward to the next installment.

At Her Will (Mistresses of the Board Room 5) by Joey W. Hill

Blurb:

“I dreem [sic] of kneeling…for her.”

It’s a simple sentence carved on a school maintenance shed wall, but it’s a message a Domme can’t ignore. Especially when Vera meets the man who wrote it, and he’s nothing like any submissive she’s encountered before.

Rev is a janitor at a middle school, and possesses a singing voice that “calls the soul home” in his family’s church. He’s the most spiritually mature and intuitive person Vera has met, a man good at caring for others; the school kids, his church congregation, and his family. But the relationship he yearns for with a woman is a challenge to his family’s understanding, and their control over his life’s path.

While only a Mistress with a strong spiritual compass herself can help him reconcile the two, only he can bring her the love Vera feels like she’s waited two lifetimes to have.

My review:

At Her Will is an absolutely sublime novel dealing with the nature of love in all its iterations. The love between family and friends, man and woman and the Devine. Vera and Rev teach us that love is the great equalizer. This story beautifully details a loving and spiritual journey between two souls meant to be. This book left me amazed at the tapestry painted in words. This may be my favorite Joey W. Hill book yet. Stunning.
