Alpha Unchained (Wolves of Wild Hollow Book 2) by Delta James

Blurb:

I left to protect her.

Now she’s mine—and in more danger than ever.

Five years ago, I walked away from everything. My pack. My birthright. And Elena—the only woman I’ve ever loved. I thought staying would destroy her. So I vanished into the shadows and bled for a cause that never gave a damn about me.

But when the cartel came for Wild Hollow, instinct took over. I claimed my mate. I marked her.
Then I disappeared all over again, believing it was the only way to keep her safe.

Now Elena’s pregnant. Newly turned. And caught in a power struggle that could tear this town apart. My pack wants the heir she’s carrying. My cousin wants my throne. And Elena? She doesn’t want anything to do with me.

Too bad. Because she’s mine.

And this time, I’m staying.
I’ll burn the Hollow to the ground before I let anyone take her from me again

My review:

The problem with alpha men /wolves is that they always think they’re right. In this case Luke thinks that leaving the woman he loves, claimed and knocked up was the best way to protect her. Idiot! He didn’t ask her input or explain that by mating her she would gain a wolf of her own or what to do when shifting or when or if he would return.

Elena is righteously pissed. No woman likes having her emotions played with.

Now Luke is back and expects Elena to just let him back into her life as if he didn’t leave her alone and pregnant. He has some major groveling to do. Not an alpha skill.

They say that this can be read standalone and it can but I highly recommend reading the first book Alpha Unbound to understand the backdrop against which these events are happening and the Kate/Hudson relationship.

This is a really enjoyable story filled with love, angst, intrigue and danger.

Danger and Dominance (Black Fox Security Doms #1) by Golden Angel

Blurb:

Never get involved with a client.

For years, that’s the code I’ve lived by. Keeping my work and private life separate, never muddying the waters.

Then again, I’ve never met a temptation like Cassidy Simone.

Beautiful, broken Cassidy. Staring up at me with those wide, haunted eyes. From the first moment I see her, all I can think is… Mine.

Every moment with her is agony, fighting the temptation to touch her, to taste her.

To claim her.

And when it becomes clear that the threat to Cassidy’s safety is closer than we realized, I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe.

Even if it means breaking all of my own rules.

My review:

She is running from her abusive stalker ex. He is a security professional. They shouldn’t fall but what is meant to be will be.

It took me a bit to warm up to David one of the team leaders at Black Fox Security. It took me no time at all to fall for his grandmother. What a hoot. She had me rolling on the floor. I felt so bad for Cassidy and loved watching her find her footing and re-learn happiness.

Immortal by Morning (Argeneau #37) by Lynsay Sands

Blurb:

Being an immortal rogue enforcer is never easy. But when human bones are found buried in a residential garden—and they happen to be discovered by your life mate—things get even more complicated in this latest installment of New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands’s wickedly alluring Argeneau vampire series.

Crispinus Delacort is an immortal rogue enforcer and a homicide detective. But in his quiet city, he’s more likely to be rounding up truant teens than investigating murders. So, when he learns that human bones have been found in the garden of a sprawling rural home, it’s unexpected to say the least.

Abril Newman can’t believe her bad luck when she discovers a body buried on the grounds of her boss’s home, while chasing after Gina’s mischievous lab Lilith. She was just supposed to be house-sitting for a few days! And then Detective Delacort arrives. She knows she shouldn’t be thinking about love when there’s a crime scene outside the door. But ignoring her attraction to gorgeous Crispin is easier said than done.

When Crispin realizes that a rogue is involved, he knows this won’t be a simple investigation. Especially because he’s so distracted by Abril’s presence that all he wants is to kiss her senseless in every room of the manor. But he can woo her, solve the case, and stop a dangerous rogue by morning...right? All in a day’s work.

My review:

Immortal by Morning is a sexy , manic romp that will have you laughing and sweating by measure.

Crispinus Delacort is an immortal rogue enforcer and a homicide detective. There aren’t a whole lot of murders in London Ontario and he’s bored. At almost three thousand years old he’s seen the worst of humanity and if it wasn’t for his siblings his interest in the world would have passed a long time ago. Now he has a mass murder scene and discovered his possible lifemate. Abril Newman has trust issues and isn’t going to make it easy for him. Crispin has no idea how to woo a modern woman and his efforts had me rolling. All this while trying to find a mass murderer.

I can promise a hilarious and steamy romp.

Ruining Romeo by Lynn Garcia Carmer

Blurb:

YOU’RE INVITED!
Date of Marriage: Next Thursday.
Bride: Julietta “Lettie” Capulet.
Groom: Paris aka "nepo baby" and the most self-absorbed human in existence.

Join us to celebrate…the worst day of my entire life!

Escape Plan: Crash the masquerade ball, steal a date with the world’s most eligible billionaire, Romeo Montague— a mercurial and mysterious brawler—and convince him I’m his perfect match. (Just until the wedding is over.) Or if I’m lucky…maybe forever.

My review:

Ruining Romeo is an interesting twist on Romeo and Juliet. From competing business families this Romeo saves our Julietta from marrying Paris aka "nepo baby" and the most self-absorbed human in existence. Romeo and Lettie are not teens nor do they die needlessly at the end (I approve). Theirs is a love at first sight. He gets to play hero and she finds a true love. I thoroughly enjoyed their story.

I Hate Myself For Loving You (Wolf Mates, #7) by Dakota Cassidy

Blurb:

Avery Palmer, werewolf, vegetarian, animal lover, and environmentalist has come to Cedar Glen to help the Adams family save their land from ruin.

Lassiter Adams is the ruiner, as in, he’s digging up acres and acres of land for what he claims will be condos on the premise that he has every right to do it because he’s an Adams, too. Not to mention, he had the most money to pay the back taxes no one knew the Adams owed and piles of money talks where the Cedar Glen town council is concerned.

When he shows up with his cash, a few backhoes, and an attitude bigger than all of Cedar Glen, chaos ensues.

Avery does everything short of tie herself to a tree to stop him from desecrating sacred werewolf land—land he doesn’t even know belongs to werewolves.

But Avery and Lassiter have a relationship that goes as far back as when they were in high school, and try as she might, Avery can’t connect the dots to the once sweet, if odd boy who was her mad high school crush, to this new Lassiter who’s always angry and single minded in his search for something he won’t explain.

Also odd? His weird relationship with his parakeet...

Their differences aside, they both have secrets they’ve kept all their lives—secrets that, if not spilled, could keep them apart forever...

My review:

Quirky characters, second chances and a magical mystery. I Hate Myself For Loving is a laugh out loud romp that will leave you with a smile. A great end to the series.

When his father blows up the house while Smoke was in prison unable to protect the innocent girl who was severely burnt by his fathers carelessness Smoke is determined to make things right for her, He doesn’t count on her stealing his heart. Queen By Royal Command by Annie West

Blurb:

An enemies to lovers, arranged marriage, royal romance from USA TODAY bestselling author Annie West.

When duty to his kingdom…
meets desire for his enemy!

Newly crowned King Benedikt is on a mission to prove he’s nothing like his corrupt father—despite what Princess Annalena believes… Their rival aristocratic families have a long, bitter history, so when Annalena presents proof that the throne is rightfully hers, he counters—with a royal wedding demand!

Orphaned as a child, Annalena longs for love, not a marriage contract. But if becoming Benedikt’s queen is what it takes to ensure the country thrives, she’ll meet him at the altar. She won’t allow her attraction to the infuriating royal to derail her!

My review:

A sweet, strong and intelligent heroine and a strong male lead out of his depth. Annalena is trying to save her town. King Benedikt is trying to rebuild his country after the excesses and abuses of the former king. Benedikt is not ready for the likes of Princess Annalena. I enjoyed watching these two battle for what they believe in. A heartwarming love story.

The Last Wizards' Ball (Gunnie Rose #6) by Charlaine Harris

Blurb:

#1 New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Charlaine Harris returns with the sixth and final installment in the critically acclaimed Gunnie Rose series as sisters Lizbeth Rose and Felicia must face their fates at the last Wizards’ Ball.

Lizbeth Rose’s sister Felicia attends the Grand Wizards’ Ball, and as one of the most powerful—and beautiful—death wizards in a generation, she is highly sought after as one of the belles of the ball.

However, war and violence are on the rise in Europe as German and Japanese wizards are also courting Felicia…and some are refusing to take no for an answer.

As the façade of genteel wizard society turns deadly, Lizbeth must learn to not only protect her sister, but also navigate the arcane world that is pulling her sister and husband into a dangerous dance with death that could change the world as they know it.

#1 New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Charlaine Harris has crafted a murderous and magical family drama in this sixth and final installment to the beloved and bestselling Gunnie Rose series.

My review:

Incredible! This finale has Lizbeth questioning everything. She is in her husbands world trying to guide her sister through the politics of the Wizards Ball and she is lost and uncomfortable. She is so far out of her wheelhouse. Lizbeth is used to being shown a problem, shooting it and boom it’s gone. Polite society is not so straight forward. Watching the world affecting Lizbeth’s reality was heartbreaking. But our Gunnie is a tough survivor and she will survive this too.

I have really enjoyed this series. Charlaine Harris is sure to give us a unique world and interesting characters.

Endlessly Yours (The Wilder Brothers #10) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:

Four years ago, I promised my dying wife that I’d do one thing: I’d move on.

And I knew as I took that oath, I would break it.

Then I saw Rory. The woman I’d met on one of my darkest nights, and the woman I can’t ignore. Our one night is a secret we swore we’d never tell.

When I see her, I see a glimpse of what could be in the fire in her eyes.

When she sees me, she sees the grumpy, annoying Wilder brother who could shatter her dreams and her heart.

With one stolen kiss, we both know we have a choice: to keep running or finally give in.

Only when she suddenly finds herself the guardian to her two nieces, the world crumbles around us once again. She needs to protect her family, and I know I can’t let her do it alone.

The pull between us refuses to go away, but now I’ll have to choose which promise to break. And if I’m strong enough to be the final Wilder to fall.

**Endlessly Yours is a single guardian, widow’s second chance, one night stand romance in the Wilder Brothers series featuring Brooks and Rory. Each one can be read as a complete standalone. A HEA is guaranteed!**

My review:

Carrie Ann Ryan knows how to pull your heartstrings. This book is no exception.

Brooks is a widower convinced that he will never love again despite his promise to his dying wife that he would try.

Rory has just inherited the care of her estranged sister’s children she doesn’t have time for love.

These two need each other to live and love again.

Another fantastic read.

Hungry Like The Wolf (Wolf Mates Series Book 6) by Dakota Cassidy

Blurb:

Julia Lawrence, highly successful pet boutique entrepreneur and all ‘round sexually liberated werewolf, needs a place to invest the gobs of money she’s been making hand over fist since she opened her store.

Enter lion (roar!), Xavier Wolf from Pride Investments. The hot financial advisor who’s come to advise her how to invest all her lovely money, also a shifter who happens to be equally liberated.

When the two meet, it’s explosive and hot, steamy shenanigans ensue. They both agree, they’re only in this for their undeniable physical attraction to one another. No commitments, no questions asked. As two peas from the same pod do. Before meeting, both were infamous for their dalliances. Their well-versed in the game.

But here’s the problem, both Julia and Xavier have avoided deeper relationships due to their strict upbringing and the “stick to your own kind” mentality—mixing ouside your species is forbidden—even though Julia’s pack is riddled with interspecies mates. Yet, neither of them have found anyone of their respective kind they want to spend their immortalities with.

So what happens when not only are you wildly attracted to someone from an entirely different species, but find yourself daydreaming about what it would be like to end your days of carousing and spend your lives together?

My review:

Steamy tale of an independent wolf shifter making her way in the world successfully on her own and an equally independent lion shifter making money for those with money. The chemistry between these two is off the charts! But there is the whole dog v cat thing. So much fun. Bring out the fan and the ice water this one is smokin’

RANT

 RANT

Does Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million want Amazon to kill their business? Why would Books-A-Million not order any copies of international best selling author Nalini Singhs books? Barnes & Noble got only one copy in. This has happened for each of her three past releases. I can’t figure it. And the phasing out of mass market paperbacks is idiotic in my humble opinion. I spend most of my disposable income on books. I try to spend local. But have found myself buying from Amazon more and more as Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million have become more reader unfriendly. They keep changing the layout and if a book is not on #Booktok they don’t order it. Its as if my money is no good there.

Can anyone make it make sense for me?

Change has come to Wyvern. A centuries-old pact between the founders and their powerful allies could save the inhabitants of the city once again, but only a dragon Daddy can truly guard his mate from harm.

My review:

My heart has hurt for Keres the black dragon. All around him his fellow dragons have been finding their mates and he is all alone. It’s been tooo long and he feels his sanity slipping. In this book he finally finds his mate and she’s unlike all the others and makes his long wait worth it.

The first book in USA Today best-selling author Molly Harper’s dazzling new Moonshadow Cove trilogy, simmering with magical mayhem, spicy romance, and laugh-out-loud humor!

As the youngest of three sea witch sisters, Linney Seaworth lives a secluded existence in her family’s secret cottage on Moonshadow Cove, the far side of Starfall Point. Together, the Seaworths wield magic derived from the surrounding waters to keep the human population safe from paranormal threats. But Linney has always longed for a more adventurous life ... which is exactly what she gets when handsome newcomer Gray Brockhurst shows up on the Island.

Gray just inherited one of Starfall’s oldest ghost tour companies. Even though he’s never believed in ghosts, he’s continuing the family business to honor his late grandfather, who relished in sharing the island’s lore. But Gray is thrown for a loop when a lovely local interrupts his tour and changes his entire world view. Apparently, ghosts are all too real, and he’s been offending them with inaccurate stories during his “performances.”

But soon the Seaworths face a bigger problem: A deadly enemy has been unleashed, and it’s unlike anything they’ve ever encountered. As Linney and Gray work together to stop it, the attraction brewing between them just might be the most powerful magic of all.

There's a Way (Mythic Beast #2) by Candace Blevins

Blurb:

Will and his boy are working things out, dealing with speed bumps as they arise while they look for their third. Will meets a woman after the final concert of this tour and takes her in his dressing room, then on the sink in a locked family bathroom a few hours later, and then his hotel room after the party — all in the first four hours he knows her.

He’s a little in love with her fifteen minutes in, but how will his boy feel about her?

She has a secret, and it’s a big one. When she’s told she might never be allowed to tell her men what she really is because Will is famous, she’s devastated. How can she continue sharing her life with them when there’s so much they can’t know about her?

Please note: This book continues the story started in Where There’s a Will.

My review:

WOW! This book takes us on a journey of discovery. Will has always known that he has wanted/needed a throuple relationship to make his life complete. In Where There’s a Will (the first book) Will finds Davy his perfect slave boy. In this book he finds Micca who he believes might just be their third. This is their story. As with any love story honesty and communication are fundamental to its success. It may take awhile and several rather high hurdles but if its worth fighting for the battle will leave you stronger.

But as every date goes hilariously off course, one thing becomes crystal clear: love doesn’t always follow the rules of gods or mortals.

The Love Fix (Sunrise Cove #8) by Jill Shalvis

Blurb:

Welcome back to Sunrise Cove for this heartwarming enemies-to-lovers tale where found family, forgiveness, and love may just be the key to finding yourself, from New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis.

Lexi Clark’s life is falling apart around her, so when she’s summoned home to Sunrise Cove, the last thing she wants to do is face all the complications she left behind. Her past, her stepsister Ashley, and especially her infuriatingly gorgeous childhood nemesis-turned-crush Heath Bowman.

Yep, Lexi’s pretty sure being home again just might kill her. She’s an overachieving art appraiser who doesn’t believe in trust, love, or Happily Ever Afters. Free spirit Ashley, on the other hand, is so full of life it hurts to look at her. But Lexi can’t refuse Ashley’s plea to honor their late mother’s final wish to make amends with the people she’d wronged.  So, on behalf of her estranged mother’s estate—and with Heath in tow as the executor—Lexi embarks on a road trip to repay all the people her gambling addicted mother owed money to.

Complicating everything are the feelings that well up for Lexi: for her mom, for Ashley, and most of all, for Heath. And for the record, she doesn’t like it, or the way he has of scaling the walls she’s built around her heart. The road trip shenanigans that ensue are both funny and heartbreaking, but Lexi finds something shocking along the way. Acceptance. Family. And unbelievably—if you ask Lexi anyway—love.

My review:

Enter the tapestry of Sunrise Cove set in the Sierra Nevada mountains just off Lake Tahoe. The author paints a picture of a woman coming to terms with a painful past. She learning that there are two sides to every story and only she can let it keep hurting her or reconcile her feelings and move on. Lexi has been letting her past inform her present and it’s keeping her from living her best life. Heath to has a painful past but he handles it differently. Watching these two heal and fall in love was heartwarming. The side characters had me doing spit-takes and laughing out loud.

This book can be read standalone.

Writing Mr. Wrong by Kelley Armstrong

Blurb:

Debut author Gemma Stanton knows romance readers love a bad boy—and she has the perfect prototype for her novel: Mason Moretti. High school hockey god-turned-pro player, Mason was Gemma's first crush, but she couldn't forget the sting of his very public rejection. So, she casts him as a hot-headed Highlander in her spicy new historical romance. She never expected readers would find out on live TV when a morning show host invites Mason for a surprise on-air reunion...

As an aging hockey player with a rep for being ruthless on the ice—and roguish off of it—Mason has an image problem. So, when his meet-cute with Gemma goes viral, Mason proposes they build on the momentum with a few fake dates to boost her book sales...and his sagging profile. But when the fictional flirting gets a little too real, Mason realizes Gemma actually makes him want to become a better man—someone worthy of her trust and her love.

Will Gemma give him a second chance? Mason knows it's a long shot, but taking shots is sorta his thing, and besides, who loves a redemption arc more than a romance author?

My review:

I LOVED THIS STORY! When author Gemma Stanton is told that alphaholes are what is  selling she needs to change her hero type she uses inspiration from the biggest alphahole she’s ever dealt with - Mason (The Mace) Moretti high school hockey god-turned-pro player.

When the high school mean girl sets Gemma up on TV (spoiler she’s still a mean girl) and Mason bails her out life gets interesting.

This second chance rom-com had me rolling on the floor. I don’t know how I ended up feeling sorry for Mason but miracles do happen. I heartily recommend.

War is on the horizon; the fragile existence between humans and the preternatural creatures they share their home with almost at breaking point. With neither time nor luck on her side, Rae jumps at an opportunity to strike a deal with the enemy, even though nothing good can come of their alliance.

Born a bastard Vampire, Aidan Vale has ruthlessly fought his way into his seat of power, but power always comes with a price. He’s sampled most of what Demesia has to offer, but every drop has been like ash on his tongue since his magic was stolen from him, a secret that’s becoming more and more difficult to hide from those who would try to rob him of his throne.

When a foul-mouthed thief offers a bargain with him, Aidan has nothing to lose by accepting. Rae could either be his redemption or his damnation, but refusing her might just be too great a risk.

As sparks fly and tempers flare, one thought alone drives him to see their deal through: know thy enemy.

Set in a corrupt world of magic, technology, and deceit, Never Run From An Immortal is a dual POV, enemies to lovers, urban romantasy between a foul-mouthed Witch and a Vampire Lord. Perfect for fans of a marriage of convenience, forced proximity, and morally grey main characters.

My review:

Never Run From An Immortal grabbed my attention from the title onward. This tale features a complex female lead that fascinated me from the very first page. Rae has more than her fair share of secrets and getting involved with a Vampire Lord isn’t the safest way to keep them. We’re kept guessing throughout and I enjoyed the ride. Can’t wait for the next installment.

Carri's Critters (Crafty Littles Book 1) by Cooper McKenzie

Blurb:

Forced from her family home, Carri is desperate to help her family in any way she can.

Which is how she finds herself at Littlepalooza, with a table full of her favorite handcrafted little animals to sell.

And secretly hoping to find a Daddy of her very own.

Enter Dr. Rooker St. James, the tall, gorgeous silver fox who takes an immediate interest in Carri—and her critters.
Everything about Rooker screams Daddy Dom, especially the way he takes care of Carri when she falls and hurts her ankle. From a trip over his knee to the screaming pleasure he gifts her with during their short time together, he’s everything she’s ever wanted in a Daddy.

But Carri’s sisters are the very definition of overprotective and overbearing. And unless she can learn how to stand up for herself to the two people she cares about most, she risks losing out on the love of a lifetime…

My review:

Carri's Critters is an adorable tale of an introverted young woman with poor taste in men and a healthy attachment to yarn of all types. She escapes into her imagination and crafts undemanding friends. I fell in love with Carri alongside Rooker. Looking forward to her sisters tales as well.

Cassandra's Prophecy (Freki Wolf Clan Book 1) by Victoria Saccenti

Blurb:

When dark magic is at play, their only refuge is each other…

Cassandra is happy with her life as a village healer and diviner. She doesn’t have time for love—or the prophecy that drove her from her childhood home. Yet she can’t ignore the mysterious warrior who pulls at something buried deep in her core. A want and need that’s more than just his midnight-black hair, wildflower-blue eyes, and towering, muscular body.

Treznor’s mission is to search for evidence of daemon activity in the area—until his wolf smells something the ether demands he Meet. Unite. Complete. Cassie—a woman who’s not even aware of the power only he can free from its magical chains. But with daemon war on the horizon, Treznor has no choice but to leave her behind with a desperate oath to return—and find her, wherever she may be.

My review:

Cassandra's Prophecy is a fast-paced tale of magic and love. Cassandra is a young woman finding her way in her world. She uses her gifts for healing and keeps her visions to herself. Treznor is a warrior werewolf who is torn between duty and his discovery that Cassandra may be his fated mate. I really enjoyed their story and look forward to seeing where they end up in the next book.
