Never Run From An Immortal (Immortals Book One) by Victoria J. Price

Blurb:

Rae Farren has always had a taste for blood. The blood of her enemies, if she’s being specific, but Demesia has been crawling with degenerates for so long the line between friend and foe no longer exists.

War is on the horizon; the fragile existence between humans and the preternatural creatures they share their home with almost at breaking point. With neither time nor luck on her side, Rae jumps at an opportunity to strike a deal with the enemy, even though nothing good can come of their alliance.

Born a bastard Vampire, Aidan Vale has ruthlessly fought his way into his seat of power, but power always comes with a price. He’s sampled most of what Demesia has to offer, but every drop has been like ash on his tongue since his magic was stolen from him, a secret that’s becoming more and more difficult to hide from those who would try to rob him of his throne.

When a foul-mouthed thief offers a bargain with him, Aidan has nothing to lose by accepting. Rae could either be his redemption or his damnation, but refusing her might just be too great a risk.

As sparks fly and tempers flare, one thought alone drives him to see their deal through: know thy enemy.

Set in a corrupt world of magic, technology, and deceit, Never Run From An Immortal is a dual POV, enemies to lovers, urban romantasy between a foul-mouthed Witch and a Vampire Lord. Perfect for fans of a marriage of convenience, forced proximity, and morally grey main characters.

My review:

Never Run From An Immortal grabbed my attention from the title onward. This tale features a complex female lead that fascinated me from the very first page. Rae has more than her fair share of secrets and getting involved with a Vampire Lord isn’t the safest way to keep them. We’re kept guessing throughout and I enjoyed the ride. Can’t wait for the next installment.

Carri's Critters (Crafty Littles Book 1) by Cooper McKenzie

Blurb:

Forced from her family home, Carri is desperate to help her family in any way she can.

Which is how she finds herself at Littlepalooza, with a table full of her favorite handcrafted little animals to sell.

And secretly hoping to find a Daddy of her very own.

Enter Dr. Rooker St. James, the tall, gorgeous silver fox who takes an immediate interest in Carri—and her critters.
Everything about Rooker screams Daddy Dom, especially the way he takes care of Carri when she falls and hurts her ankle. From a trip over his knee to the screaming pleasure he gifts her with during their short time together, he’s everything she’s ever wanted in a Daddy.

But Carri’s sisters are the very definition of overprotective and overbearing. And unless she can learn how to stand up for herself to the two people she cares about most, she risks losing out on the love of a lifetime…

My review:

Carri's Critters is an adorable tale of an introverted young woman with poor taste in men and a healthy attachment to yarn of all types. She escapes into her imagination and crafts undemanding friends. I fell in love with Carri alongside Rooker. Looking forward to her sisters tales as well.

Cassandra's Prophecy (Freki Wolf Clan Book 1) by Victoria Saccenti

Blurb:

When dark magic is at play, their only refuge is each other…

Cassandra is happy with her life as a village healer and diviner. She doesn’t have time for love—or the prophecy that drove her from her childhood home. Yet she can’t ignore the mysterious warrior who pulls at something buried deep in her core. A want and need that’s more than just his midnight-black hair, wildflower-blue eyes, and towering, muscular body.

Treznor’s mission is to search for evidence of daemon activity in the area—until his wolf smells something the ether demands he Meet. Unite. Complete. Cassie—a woman who’s not even aware of the power only he can free from its magical chains. But with daemon war on the horizon, Treznor has no choice but to leave her behind with a desperate oath to return—and find her, wherever she may be.

My review:

Cassandra's Prophecy is a fast-paced tale of magic and love. Cassandra is a young woman finding her way in her world. She uses her gifts for healing and keeps her visions to herself. Treznor is a warrior werewolf who is torn between duty and his discovery that Cassandra may be his fated mate. I really enjoyed their story and look forward to seeing where they end up in the next book.

Her First Mistake (Noelle Marshall #1) by Kendra Elliot

Blurb:

When a very personal cold case murder is reopened, a detective’s secrets come to light in a novel of shocking twists and suspense by a Wall Street Journal bestselling author.

Thirteen years ago, Assemblyman Derrick Bell was murdered in his home by an intruder. His wife, Noelle Marshall, was left for dead. The crime was unsolved, but it wasn’t forgotten.

Today the FBI is tackling a fresh perspective on the case and looking to Noelle, now a detective for the Deschutes County sheriff’s office, for new clues. It is reopening everything Noelle thought was behind her. Memories of her escape from a traumatic childhood. A marriage that wasn’t the perfect love story she’d been promised. And a husband whose charm and privilege hid a dark side. But Noelle has been hiding something too: a secret about the night Derrick died that she has never told anyone.

As past and present and leads and misleads collide, one thing is frighteningly clear. Derrick’s murder wasn’t just unsolved. It’s unfinished. And only the truth—no matter the risk—can save the next victim.

My review:

Kendra Elliot is a wizard at creating strong, flawed, damaged women who overcome all and get the job done. Noelle is one such woman. The author takes us through the unsolved murder that informs Noelle's past and present. You can’t help but admire her grit and guts. A fascinating tale filled with twists and turns that will leave you spinning. I anxiously await the next installment.

An Unexpected Everything (The Cage Family #2) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:

He left me with a note.

Weston Caldwell and I had two months together. Two months of intense heat and plans for our future. Then one day he left me sleeping with a note and never turned back. I closed off my heart and my dreams after he left and promised to take care of my family, never trusting love again.

So when I am forced to head to my family’s small town for protection, I never expect to turn around and see the man I loved.

I want to walk away and never look back, but when I find out he left for a heartbreaking reason, I’m not sure what to think. The chemistry between us hasn’t gone away—if anything it burns even brighter.

But my life is in the city and his is in this small town that draws me. Between his siblings, the town itself, and my new found family, walking away might break me.

Only Weston isn’t the only secret from my past. And it turns out, if Weston and I aren’t careful, we could lose everything before we find our second chance.

An Unexpected Everything is a second chance, right person, wrong time, single “dad”, contemporary romantic suspense in the Cage Family series featuring Weston and Isabella. Each book can be read as a complete standalone. An HEA is guaranteed!**

My review:

Isabella is having a very bad day. Okay things lately have been a little crazy what with finding out her father had another whole family and her mother knew and didn’t say anything. She’s now working for her new found brothers and might have a little case of imposter syndrome happening. When she’s attacked her over protective family sends her to Cage Lake, the small town in the mountains that her new brothers own most of. That’s when life hands her another bombshell. Weston Caldwell. The only man shes ever loved. The one who left with no word or explanation. And whoo what a reunion. These two are made for each other.

Another fantastically steamy romance from Carrie Ann Ryan.

Trust (The Wulf Family Book 3) by Melissa Schroeder

Blurb:

The exciting conclusion to The Wulf Family Series.

Jakob Wulf has been in love with one woman for years, and he's ready to win her heart.

After years of fighting his attraction for his best friend's little sister, Jakob spent one night with her--thinking that it was a new start. Instead, she seemingly walked away from him. Once they are back together, Jakob has one mission: prove he's the man for her.

Unfortunately, he has a few obstacles. Her brother isn't happy about the situation. Oh, and someone seems to be hellbent on killing Lani.

But one thing everyone needs to understand: you never count a Wulf out...especially when it comes to love.

Warning: This book contains two people trying to ignore their feelings, a lavish wedding, annoying pineapple influencers, a visit from Task Force Hawaii Team Bravo, an introduction to Dillon Security, plus a nutjob with a dangerous obsession.

My review:

STUNNING! As usual Melissa Schroeder has given us a lot to think about and a terrific romance. This story deals with the nature of celebrity, family and the “bro code”. In this exciting conclusion to the Wulfs (and boy was it worth the wait) we get to see Jakob and Lani find their happy.

Blurb:

Serena Michaels is Stressed with a capital S.

Not only is her job as a paramedic a constant source of stress, she’s in love with her roommates.

Her very hot, very bossy, very married roommates.

Constantly keeping her true feelings for the gorgeous firefighters she shares a home with does nothing to help her relax. Though she does get some relief at the club they frequent back home, where they take turns turning her into a submissive puddle of goo at their feet.

So when Ford and Noah suggest a vacation to the infamous Rawhide Ranch, she reluctantly agrees. Maybe she’ll find a nice Dom to flog all her stress and worries away.

Or maybe she’ll discover that her happily ever after has been staring her in the face this whole time…

My review:

Serena lives and works with Ford and Noah. Though she fantasizes about them she figures its never going to happen. Watching Ford and Noah convince her that they truly love and want her had my heart dancing. A sexy standalone addition to the series.

A Dead End Wedding (Tiger's Eye Mystery #13) by Alyssa Day

Blurb:

HERE COMES THE BRIDE ... maybe?

When private investigator and tiger shapeshifter Jack Shepherd is about to marry the love of his life in Dead End, the quirkiest town in Florida, the last thing he wants to deal with is more games from a Fae queen.

But with Jack's fiancee, pawnshop owner Tess Callahan, and all their family and friends, they have to succeed in a series of challenges to win the right to continue as a town—or abandon Dead End forever! The Dead Enders must prove themselves in Courage, Alliance, Wisdom, Compassion, and Beauty before the deadline … which just happens to be the date of the wedding.

Plus, there’s the little mystery of the swamp troll who came to town …

The wedding of the century may be on hold until Jack and Tess can navigate the challenges and win their happily ever after.

(Did we mention the bungee cord?)

Welcome to Dead End, where Here Comes the Bride can turn into a threat— for the bad guys. Jack and Tess are on the case, even on their wedding day, because sometimes it takes a Tiger's Eye to see the truth.

My review:

Jack & Tess are finally going to tie the knot. But in typical Dead End fashion it’s not going to be easy. It’s going to take the whole town to work together to save Dead End so Jack and Tess can celebrate their love. Dead End’s quirky citizens will do what they must so Jack and Tess can get married. Laugh out loud fun.

He's to Die For by Erin Dunn

Blurb:

Brooklyn 99 meets The Charm Offensive in this sparkling romantic murder mystery: it's murder cute in the first degree when a detective finds himself falling for the lead suspect in a career-making case.

At 29, Detective Rav Trivedi is the youngest member of the NYPD’s homicide squad, and his future looks bright. He may be a bit of an outsider in the department—an ivy-league educated gay Brit with a weakness for designer suits—but his meteoric rise and solve rate prove he belongs.

So when his CO assigns him lead on the high-profile murder of a record executive, Rav is ready for action. He won’t be distracted by TV crews, tabloids, or what’s trending on social media, nor by the ridiculously hot rock star with a clear motive and no alibi.

This is it, his shot, and he is not going to screw it up—certainly not by falling in love with his number one suspect…

My review:

Told in the third person He's to Die For by Erin Dunn is a twisted murder mystery and an adorable romance all bound up in a terrific tale. Rav made my heart melt as he juggles a couple of murders and his growing feelings for rock star Jack Vale. The mystery twists and turns leaving me guessing right up till the end. I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

Who knew the position my father forced me to take for Titan Security would lead me to everything I desired? I have to act fast, as time is working against me, with a potential killer on the loose, money missing from the company, and someone stalking her…

Jesse Bradford:

On the verge of making manager, I’m consumed with work, before Derrick steps in and snatches my promotion out from under me. He’s familiar, but how? And why does he take my breath away every time we touch? I want to make his job a living hell – until someone tries to kill me.

Now my life is in Derrick's hands, the ones I imagine bending me to his will.

Why am I even thinking this way? He has me confused, forcing me to rethink who I am, submitting to my desires, and helping him track down a killer(s) before they strike again. Can I trust him?

Jasper (Dark Ops Daddies Book 2) by Kate Oliver

Blurb:

Ariana
I’ve spent the past few years going wherever my free-spirited heart takes me..
My beat-up RV is the only constant… until it dies in the middle of a postcard-perfect mountain town.
I’ve survived worse. I can survive this.
But then he shows up.
Grumpy. Bossy. Infuriatingly gorgeous.
Jasper thinks he can fix my problems—and maybe even me.
Part of me wants to let him.
Even if I know that this will end in a shattered heart and broken spirit.
Because no one has ever wanted to keep me before, so why would he?

Jasper
All I wanted was my coffee—black, quiet, and drama-free.
What I got? A pink-haired hurricane with sticky fingers and a smile that could ruin a man.
I guess she doesn’t know what happens to naughty girls who steal.
Then she looks at me with those lost blue eyes and something tugs at my cold black heart.
She needs a Daddy.
She needs me.
And I think I need her too.
But one of these days, she’s going to leave and I’m going to be even more broken than I already am.

My review:

Jasper is a grumpy Daddy Dom who is immediately taken with the pink haired pickpocket he catches in the coffee shop.  Ariana is doing what she has to to get by. Her car is broken down, She’s living in an old rv trailer with no heat with a bald cat named Fluffy. She would get a job but her skills don’t translate to regular employment. Jasper and she may have similar backgrounds but they are opposites in nature. These two had me on the edge of tears, laughing and swooning.

Rocking the Trucker (Trucker Love #3) by Cooper McKenzie

Blurb:

Two years ago, Gabriel Park screwed up and his life and career as a rock star imploded, losing his band, his freedom, and the love of his life. While in jail, Gabriel cleaned up his body and his life with the hopes of a second chance with his love while rebuilding his career.

For two years, Sam Myles stayed off the road while trying to convince himself that he no longer loved the man who walked away. When a new contract comes in demanding he be the driver, Sam is forced back behind the wheel. After seeing Gabriel again, Sam realizes he’s been lying to himself.

Will Gabriel apologize and make amends for the past? Will Gabriel be able to redeem himself with the fans as well as the man he still loves? Can Sam forgive and leave the past where it belongs, in the past?

My review:

Rocking the Trucker is a tale of redemption and second chances at the life rocker Gabriel Park wanted and with the man he has loved and lost through his own stupid choices. Two years in jail gave him plenty of time to think about things.

I loved watching Gabriel make better choices and like Sam I fell for him all over again.

Where There's a Will: A Rockstar Romance (Mythic Beast #1) by Candace Blevins

Blurb:

Lord Byron is the frontman for Mythic Beast, one of the top pop-rock bands on the planet. He’s been quite public about the fact he’s bisexual, and when he finally settles down he intends to have a poly group with at least one man and one woman.

But when he isn’t on stage, he’s Will to his friends and is often in disguise so the public won’t recognize him. He beds lots of men and women while in his Lord Byron persona, but rarely meets people he’s interested in when he’s Will.

But then he meets a young man who doesn’t have a clue who Will is despite the fact he isn’t in disguise, and halfway through dinner, Will’s pretty sure he’s found the first part of his poly group.

Unfortunately, it’s never as easy as negotiating a power-exchange contract and living happily ever after.

My review:

This is a power exchange romance that happens to feature a rock star. This story is more about Will and Davy finding their relationship and learning each other.  The attraction is instantaneous and incendiary. I was less than thrilled with the ending but look forward to reading the next book to find out if they make it work or let it implode.

Wraith (Devil Daddies MC #1) by Pepper North

Blurb:

If you want to make trouble, you’ll have to make it past Wraith first.

Wraith has a knack for spotting a brawl long before it happens. Getting on his bad side is definitely not recommended. When his eyes linger on a deliciously curvy woman, he’s instantly concerned by her attempts to blend in with the crowd. Who taught this special treat to react with fear?

Caroline Sweets wants to be anywhere but at the biker bar. She’s there doing research for her latest romance novel. Surely, the popular MC romance genre will be her key to fame and wealth. If only that burly biker didn’t check all her own boxes for a sexy leading man.

The members of the Devil Daddies MC will risk all to secure two things: special acquisitions and women with a Little side.

My review:

Wraith is the first in a new spinoff from The Shadowridge Guardians MC series.

Caroline Sweets is an aptly named author with a problematic ex-husband and an eye for a hunky biker. When these two get together it is exciting, a little scary and totally steamy.

Be a Detective, They Said. It'll Be Fun, They Said (Accidental Detective Mystery #3) Dakota Cassidy

Be a Detective, They Said. It'll Be Fun, They Said (Accidental Detective Mystery #3) Dakota Cassidy

Blurb:

Wanda Jefferson, vampire/werewolf hybrid and (very) reluctant temporary PTA president, reporting for duty!

Yes, yes, yes. I’m a PTA member. Don’t be so shocked. I’d do anything for my two precious babies, Olivia and Sam, including whip up batches of cupcakes late into the night for their annual bake sale at the Paranormal School for the Gifted. And if I have to endure the most insufferable, controlling, bossy-pants PTA president in all of existence who goes by the name Neerie Lincoln-- so be it.

Except today, Neerie’s a no-show, leaving me in charge of the event. Inconceivable! The domineering little fae would never willingly miss the school’s biggest fundraising event. Who else will properly ensure sweet and savory treats never grace the same table?

Neerie’s sister claims she’s been missing for two days. When she begs me and my besties, Nina and Marty, to put our fledgling detective skills to work to find her, we’re reluctant. I mean, there’s no love lost for the PTA president. However, she’s left behind a little girl who misses her mommy something fierce—and THAT we can’t ignore.

Of course, Neerie has also left a recently disgruntled ex, a loser baby-daddy, and a long line of horribly mistreated people in her wake.

Read: the suspect list is sizeable. Any one of a dozen people have reason to want to un-alive the crazy fairy, up to and including the school janitor.

Oh…and have we mentioned Neerie’s absolutely obsessed with conspiracy theories? And the human groups devoted to them?

Yep. The suspect pool just got a whole lot bigger.

Diving headlong into Neerie’s crazy world of nutball conspiracies, Nina, Marty and I thought we’d seen every form of weird during our various Accidental adventures.

We were SO wrong…

My review:

Just when you think they’ve seen it all Wanda, Marty and Nina find some new and fantastical creatures that blow even their minds.  The accidental detectives third case is a missing persons case of the irritating, tyrannical and whacked out president of the pta. She may be a pita but her little girl is adorable and deserves her mommy no matter what. Through dogged determination and a whole lot of luck these ladies manage to get the job done.
