Bishop's Endgame (Endgame Trilogy #3) by Katie Reus

Blurb:
Read the final book in the Endgame trilogy where blood is thick, but passion is thicker…

He kidnapped a princess to exact revenge.

Set up for a crime he didn’t commit, Ellis Bishop takes the law into his own hands to exact justice and clear his name. Unfortunately, that means he has to kidnap a crime boss’s daughter—a perfect mafia princess, set to become queen of a dirty empire. What he didn’t count on was falling for his mortal enemy’s daughter.

He wasn’t supposed to fall for her.

Arianna hates the man who kidnapped her, but soon she realizes that things aren’t what they seem. Ellis was framed by her stepfather and is trying to clear his name. If she helps him, it means betraying her family. But how can she turn her back on him when he’s innocent… when her stepfather turns out to be a monster she never really knew at all?

My review:
Bishop's Endgame is a nonstop action filled romantic thriller. Ellis is a DEA agent who is being set up for his partners murder by his dirty boss and a crime boss. Third grade teacher Arianna is as innocent as they come despite the fact that the crime boss is her stepfather. But Ellis doesn’t know that. Theirs is not a meet cute but the chemistry is off the charts. Can love develop on the run? Can Arianna help Ellis clear his name? Will they live long enough to find out if there is a chance for them? I chewed my nails to nubs while reading this. Thank goodness for family and friends you can trust and count on.  A wonderful end to the trilogy.

Taken With You (Fractured Connections #4) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Carrie Ann Ryan comes a new story in her Fractured Connections series…

It all started at a wedding. Beckham didn’t mean to dance with Meadow. And he really didn’t mean to kiss her. But now, she’s the only thing on his mind. And when it all comes down to it, she’s the only person he can't have.

He'll just have to stay away from her, no matter how hard they’re pulled together.

Running away from her friend's wedding isn't the best way to keep the gossip at bay. But falling for the mysterious and gorgeous bartender at her friends’ bar will only make it worse. Beckham has his secrets, and she refuses to pry.

Once burned, twice kicked down, and never allowed to get up again. Yet taking a chance with him might be the only choice she has. And the only one she wants.

My review:
Does our past define our future? For Beckham and Meadow that is the question. Both of them are hiding from their past and it may just prevent them from having a future. I’ve always liked these two secondary characters from the Fractured Connections world.  I loved watching them deal with their fears and find love. Another winner from Carrie Ann Ryan.

Seven Range Shifters Series:
Cowboy Wolf Trouble (Book 1)
Cowboy in Wolf's Clothing (Book 2)
Wicked Cowboy Wolf (Book 3)

My review:
Wicked Cowboy Wolf is a wonderful tale of lost love. Pack princess Maeve Gray may have escaped the pack's bloodsucking enemies with some help from the outlaw wolf known only as the Rogue. Now he needs her for her blood to develop an antidote to the serum the bloodsuckers made from her blood; but he needs her for so much more. Mae is strong, smart and sassy with a heart as big as Texas. Watching her tame the Rogue will have you laughing and sighing. Though this is part of a series it can be read standalone.

On the beautiful Hawaiian Islands, not all is paradise in this high-stakes, action-packed romantic suspense.

Jiang Ying Yue assumed her kidnapping was random, that she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. After all, who would want to harm her? Now, Ying Yue realizes that she's become a pawn in a dangerous game, and her kidnapper won't be satisfied until she disappears for good.

To him, the brave and resilient investment expert is more than just another client. But with danger closing in, Zu can't let his emotions get in the way of the most important job he's ever had---protecting the woman he loves.

My review:
Hot guys, smart dogs, Hawaii, danger this book has it all and more. I love that I learn so much from a Piper J. Drake book and this one is no different. This story took me to places and situations I’ve never been and honestly wouldn’t want to go to most of them. I really liked Jiang Ying Yue our heroine. She is smart and driven and stood up for herself but not to the detriment of her own safety. Our hero Zu is smart and driven but also was a bit of a jerk at the start, he made up for it later.
I really enjoy this series and this is a fabulous addition.

Changes and Chocolates (Untouchable #2) by Heather Long

Blurb:
170 some odd days left in my senior year and everything has changed. I went from untouchable to dating my best friends to making out to being betrayed. Why can’t they understand humiliating and controlling me doesn’t say I care?

Could this get any worse?

We’ve all crossed lines. Broken the rules.

Ian had asked me to Homecoming.

Jake spent the night in my bed.

Coop and I had made out on the sofa.

But Archie? Archie and I had blown past all of them.

Now?

I had to get out of here more than ever. Change was inevitable. College was coming. That was where my focus needed to be. Not on the four guys I adored. Our friendship was everything and there wasn’t enough chocolate in the world to salvage this situation.

Losing them for a few months hurt.

Losing them forever might be inevitable, but it would be unbearable.

My review:
Have you read Rules and Roses? No? STOP! Read that first then come back to Changes and Chocolates.
Oh the angst and drama. This book has not only the problems dealing with four guys wanting you and the mean girls bullying you and all the crap that comes with high school but Frankie also has to deal with her mother and Archie’s dad. This story is filled with the highs and lows you’d expect from a driven high schooler but it is also filled with love and laughter. This is a fun story and I look forward to seeing where the author takes us next.

Angel (The Manhattan Ten Series Book 4) by Lola Dodge

Blurb:
A super secretary. A jaguar shifter.

She’s the organizational mastermind behind the famed Manhattan Ten super hero crew. With perfect recall, she can remember every face, every book, and every moment of her life. Angel can’t forget her past and she can’t escape it, either.

He’s a jaguar shifter who hasn’t left the jungle in a looooong time. When Tequani hitches a flight to visit his brother at the M10 headquarters, he’s so rough around the edges, he sparks a full-blown TSA panic. After Angel steps in to rescue him, he’s fascinated by the woman who can do it all.

If home is where the heart is, Tequani might as well start shopping for a penthouse in the city.

It’s love at first fight in the fourth volume of the Manhattan Ten Series.

[A novella-length superhero romance of 30K words. Rated 18+ for adult language and some sexual content. Perfect reading for fans of Jennifer Estep’s Bigtime series and Lexi Dunne’s Superheroes Anonymous.]

The Manhattan Ten Series:
1. Ivory - October 2019
2. Temptress - November 2019
3. Belle Fury - December 2019
4. Angel - January 2020

My review:
I LOVE THIS SERIES! I especially loved this installment. Angel has an eidetic memory. She forgets nothing. It makes her a great administrator for the M10 but is hell on a personal life. When she rescues Jag’s brother from himself she is put on babysitting duty but oh baby jaguar shifter Tequani is no baby and sitting isn’t exactly in her wheelhouse. I love that Angel got her chance to shine in this story and I’d love to visit with the M10 again soon.

Black Hollow: Accepting Love by Cassidy K. O'Connor

Blurb:
What's a gargoyle to do when he finally finds his mate and she turns out to be a blood-thirsty mormo on the run and afraid to trust anyone.

Aristide likes his quiet life, reading and running the town bookstore. It isn't until a mormo shows up needing help does he realize he's not really been living, merely existing.

Tamiko Gray has been a prisoner for more years than she can remember. Forced to use her powers to lure men to her room where her captors are waiting to rob them. Desperate for freedom she escapes and finds herself in the mysterious town of Black Hollow.

When Tamiko's captors are closing in she's left with the choice of running again or letting her new friends help her. She never expected the quirky paranormal town would help her see she is worthy of accepting love.

My review:
This is a sweet tale about love and acceptance. It is also a laugh out loud raucous tale of six authors and the paranormals they write about.  I’ll admit that a mormo was a new to me one. This book had me gigglesnorting and sighing. This book will leave you with a smile on your face and in your heart.

Savage Caress (Savage Shifters Book 4) by Milly Taiden

Blurb:

Everything she’s ever wanted is under threat, but Zelda’s used to heartache and disappointment. This time, she isn’t backing down. She’s been through too much to quit. Determined, she sets her sights on her goal. A goal that definitely does not include falling for the tall, handsome man who keeps popping up at just the right time.

Stone Barlow’s not a complicated man. If he can buy up land and turn a profit, then it’s a good day. If he can invest in a lucrative business, even better. He doesn’t have time for love or finding his mate. Especially not when he sees how it’s turned his buddy into a domesticated dragon. But when Stone is invited to Beast’s place for a family barbecue, he’s immediately taken by the curvy red-headed bombshell. She’s aloof and quiet, but Stone can see a fire inside of her. The flame calls to him.

Unfortunately, Silver Springs is a dangerous place to be when you owe money to the wrong people. Zelda’s on the hook for her father’s debts, and life just keeps throwing her curveballs. Stone’s willing to do anything to protect her, but Zelda’s too used to fixing her own problems. If she gives Stone a chance she just might get everything she’s ever wanted.

My review:
What is the best thing that could happen to a curvy girl with self-esteem issues? Why a gorgeous dragon shifter who claims she is his mate. At least that’s what dragon shifter Stone Barlow thinks. Zelda isn’t so sure. Zelda has been burnt before and the only male role model she has leads her to believe she is better off without. Stone will have to up his game to win her heart.
This is a fun and sexy romp with a hot dragon, a smart gal, some conniving relatives and some really bad dudes.  Oh what fun.

Unhuman Light is the first in a urban fantasy series. Kaitlin O'Malley is a therapist by day and a protector against evil by night, She is human but has skills that have the supernatural community wondering. This is a fun series with a kick butt heroine that I really enjoyed watching her grow and stand up for herself against some powerful beings.  Just ordered the next installment of her adventures.

Passions of a Papillon by Tara Lain

Blurb:
After you’ve sold your soul to the devil, can you renegotiate with a dog?

Brilliant defense attorney, Finn Morgenstern, knows the worst guys pay best, so defending slimeball, Rance Franklin, becomes his path to senior partner and a whole lot of benefits. But then a walk home to his pricey townhouse brings him face-to-ears with a batshit-crazy little dog who just won’t leave him alone. So Finn takes the dog to the local veterinarian to find out how to get her back to her owners. Hello vet! Emerson “Em” Fairweather sure doesn’t match his stodgy name. Suddenly Finn is the one who needs defending, and he’s faced with a choice between what he thought was important and a whole new batshit-crazy life.

My review:
Passions of a Papillon tells of the healing power of love. And if its instigated by a ball of fluff with big floppy ears well then so much the better. While some of the story is contrived the characters are so sweet you’ll let it slide. Who can resist a sweet little dog, a vet on the run and a lawyer who has lost his way. Take the journey with them and enjoy.

Hate to Love You by Melissa Schroeder

Blurb:
Dive into this sizzling romantic comedy from USA Today bestselling author Melissa Schroeder.

He is absolutely, completely, and undoubtedly the one man I shouldn't fantasize about.

Other than being my boss, he's too rigid, a workaholic with a checkered past when it comes to women. Knowing all that, I shouldn't think about how his hands would feel on my body, or how his voice would sound when he whispered my name in the dark.

But I can resist him. Mainly because he can't stand me, and he's the kind of boss who makes me think about murder on a daily basis. That's until he shows me his softer side and ignoring my need for him becomes impossible.

No, softer side or not, I have to resist the lure of Grady Hawthorne because if I don't, I'm pretty sure I won't survive the fall.

Warning: This book includes a smack-talking executive assistant, a workaholic boss who has the most amazing...mouth, irritating siblings, a drunken night that ends in jail, and a happily ever after that will make you sigh. Author assumes no responsibility for overheated readers.

This is a standalone romantic comedy with no cheating and an HEA.

My review:
Hate to Love You by Melissa Schroeder is a sweet, sexy and laugh out loud funny spin-off from the Camos and Cupcake series.  Grady Hawthorne is gorgeous and driven. Sydney Fillmore is smart and sassy. When these two are in the same room you can feel the chemistry. This book had me laughing and sighing and breaking out the ice water. Highly recommend.

The Scent of Murder (Jazz Ramsey #1) by Kylie Logan

Blurb:
First in a new series from national bestselling author Kylie Logan, The Scent of Murder is a riveting mystery following Jazz Ramsey as she trains cadaver dogs.

The way Jazz Ramsey figures it, life is pretty good. She’s thirty-five years old and owns her own home in one of Cleveland’s most diverse, artsy, and interesting neighborhoods. She has a job she likes as an administrative assistant at an all-girls school, and a volunteer interest she’s passionate about—Jazz is a cadaver dog handler.

Jazz is working with Luther, a cadaver dog in training. Luther is still learning cadaver work, so Jazz is putting him through his paces at an abandoned building that will soon be turned into pricey condos. When Luther signals a find, Jazz is stunned to see the body of a young woman who is dressed in black and wearing the kind of make-up and jewelry that Jazz used to see on the Goth kids back in high school.

She’s even more shocked when she realizes that beneath the tattoos and the piercings and all that pale make up is a familiar face.

The lead detective on the case is an old lover, and the murdered woman is an old student. Jazz finds herself sucked into the case, obsessed with learning the truth.

My review:
The Scent of Murder (Jazz Ramsey #1) by Kylie Logan is a twisted murder mystery that takes you down unexpected paths and keeps you wondering. I’ve just discovered this author and will be checking out her back list while anxiously awaiting the next book in this series.

Then everything changes.

She's captured by an alien beast unlike anything she's ever seen before.

And the worst part is that after awhile, she's not so sure she wants him to let her go.

My review:
Alien Beast by Sophie Stern is a tale of a warrior and a young woman who has been raised as a commodity for her parents. When she refuses the marriage they have planned for her she runs away and takes a trip to the stars. The ship she is in is sabotaged and goes down on a dark planet. She is rescued by a big brawny alien and it may just be the best thing that’s ever happened to her.
This is a fairly predictable tale but there are a few surprises along the way. A good escape.

Blurb:

His wolf has taken up residence in his head, taunting him night and day with vividly violent and carnal thoughts. Convinced he's cursed, he needs the help of a powerful witch before he literally goes insane.

What Evie doesn't know is that Mateo's wolf has a mind of his own. And now that she's in his sights, he wants only one thing. Her.

My review:
Wolf Gone Wild (Stay A Spell #1) by Juliette Cross is a fun werewolf/witch opposites attract love story and the first in a new series.  This is a fun romp in a well-developed world. Mateo is a hot werewolf with a problem that only witch Evie Savoie has a chance to fix. They didn’t count on falling in love. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to following installments.

The Last Sister (Columbia River #1) by Kendra Elliot

Blurb:
Three sisters’ secrets collide in a shocking novel of suspense by the Wall Street Journal and Amazon Charts bestselling author of the Mercy Kilpatrick series.
Twenty years ago Emily Mills’s father was murdered, and she found his body hanging in the backyard. Her younger sister, Madison, claims she was asleep in her room. Her older sister, Tara, claims she was out with friends. The tragedy drove their mother to suicide and Tara to leave town forever. The killer was caught. The case closed.
Ever since, Emily and Madison have tried to forget what happened that night—until an eerily similar murder brings it all back. It also brings FBI special agent Zander Wells to the Oregon logging town. As eager as he is to solve the brutal double slaying, he is just as intrigued with the mystery of Emily’s and her sisters’ past.
When more blood is shed, Zander suspects there’s a secret buried in this town no one wants unearthed. Is it something Emily and Madison don’t know? Or aren’t telling? And Tara? Maybe Emily can’t bear to find her. Because when Tara disappeared, she took a secret of her own with her.

My review:
Kendra Elliot does it again! I was sucked into this intricately woven tapestry of history, family and murder. This story kept me flipping pages and thinking of the tale long past the last page. I loved how the locations history was as much a character in the tale as the inhabitants. I truly enjoyed this and can’t wait for the next installment.
