Pack Bunco Night (Shifting Into Midlife #1) by L.A. Boruff, Lia Davis & Lacey Carter Andersen

Blurb:

A bunny bit me on the finger and everything went sideways after that.

That’s just the beginning of my insane life. The Fascinators, the local ladies’ club, suddenly are incredibly interested in having me join their next Bunco night, which is a thinly veiled excuse to drink and gossip. I’ve been dying to get into that group for years; why now? I’m over forty, my daughter is grown, and all I do is temp work. What’s so special about me?

After I shift into a dragon, things become clearer. They’re not a Bunco group. The Fascinators are a pack of shifters. Yes, shifters. Like werewolves, except in this case, it’s weresquirrels and a wereskunk, among others.

And my daughter? She wants to move home, suddenly and suspiciously. As excited as I am to have her home, why? She loves being on her own. It’s got something to do with a rough pack of predators, shifters who want to watch the world burn. I hope she’s not mixed up with the wrong crowd.

There’s also a mysterious mountain man hanging around out of the blue. Where was he before the strange bunny bite? Nowhere near me, that’s for sure.

Life is anything but boring. At this point, I’m just hoping that I’ll survive it all with my tail—literally—intact.

My review:

Pack Bunko Night is a delightful first in a new series. Bethany is a single mom and new empty nester whose world is about to be turned on its edge when her daughter comes home from school, Beth gets bitten by a bunny, she finds a new circle of friends and discovers a whole new world. This story is at turns sweet, funny and scary. All in all a good read that left me wanting more.

Carnage Island (Reject Island) by Lexi C. Foss

Blurb:

Welcome to Carnage Island.
Home of brutal chaos.
Blood and tears.
And nefarious schemes.

A half-breed.
A reject.
A wolf without a mate.

My family doesn't want me.
My alpha disowned me.
And my mate rejected me.

So I’ve just been given a new pack assignment.
Carnage Island.
Home to the worst of wolf kind.
Vicious. Cruel beasts. Wicked deeds.

I’m not one of them.
But I’m not a Nantahala wolf either.
I’m something distinctly other; an Omega trapped in an Alpha’s skin.

One step toward my fate, and all the males turn their heads.
I’m fresh meat.
Property to be claimed.

Hide and seek is now a game of life and death.
With claws and teeth.
And malice and pain.

Only the strongest will survive.
Enter at your own peril.

Author’s Note: This is a dark shifter story with omegaverse undertones. Three Alpha males, one Omega female. There will be biting and violence because these Alphas will stop at nothing to protect their mate. And she’ll claim them back just as fiercely.

My review:

This book starts out really dark, picks up speed and won’t let you put it down till the very last sentence. It will haunt you long after you put it down. Clove is a wonderfully complicated female and though she is saved by three strong Alphas you don’t feel like she is a doormat. Each Alpha has his strengths and weaknesses but together they are just what she needs. This story takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, hot sex, love and hate with unexpected turns. Strap in and enjoy the ride.

Spice and Prejudice (A Nora Black Midlife Psychic Mystery #5) by Renee George

Blurb:

Midlife dating is all fun and games until someone falls into the flambĂ© and catches on fire…and your best friend’s ex-husband is accused of murder.

When my BFF Gilly Martin requests my help in narrowing down her dance card from two great guys to one, I reluctantly agree to employ my psychic nose for the good of my bestie’s future.

But who knew dating could be deadly?

After Gilly’s ex-husband is arrested for murder, I am more than okay with my Detective Hottie boyfriend locking the meathead up and throwing away the key. However, being a jerk doesn’t make someone a killer, and the case smells fishy from the get-go. So, I’m putting my personal feelings aside and using my smell-o-vision to investigate

My review:

Nora and pals are back in another exciting cozy mystery. This one hits close to home when Gilly’s ex is the number one suspect in a homicide and while Nora would happily let him swing when her godchild asks her to investigate she can’t say no. This tale features some really bad dates, a slimy two-timing ex, politics, a hot cop and a woman with heart as big as Texas. I love this series and anxiously await each new installment.

Alpha Geek: Axel by Milly Taiden

Blurb:

After taking a job for the Shifter Protection Agency, Emily Jackson finds herself stepping into a laboratory to protect a brilliant science professor. Even though Axel Snell is scorching hot, he’s just a fragile human who she could break in the throes of passion. Besides, she’s already got her hands full protecting him from would-be assassins. Still, her lioness insist he’s her mate. Great way to start a new job.

Axel can’t believe the twisted turn his life has taken. First, he’s being targeted for wanting to create a cure for diseases. Then, the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen is assigned to protect him. Just as he makes a note to himself to check the fraternization policy, everything changes for him—permanently and irreversibly. And now Emily is no longer off-limits. Now, she’s his.

Emily wanted a job she could sink her teeth into, and Axel wanted to be part of changing the future of mankind. With danger at every turn and their romance just blooming, have they both bitten off more than they can chew?

My review:

Alpha Geek: Axel is the eighth Alpha Geek book and pretty much follows the formula but I love each and every one. Axel is the skinny genius working on a cure for anthrax poisoning and somebody doesn’t want him to succeed enter pretty shifter bodyguard who discovers that said fragile geek is her mate. Now if she can only keep him alive. Emily is smart and sassy if a little unsure about what she wants to do with her life. Axel is an alpha from the get go he just chose to exercise his mind more than his body. This is a sweet and sexy addition to the series.

She doesn’t believe in vampires...until one bites her.

Lorelei McGiven is just an average gal who needs a break from work and life. When she sees an ad boasting a luxury weekend vacation for people who enjoy the nightlife, it’s a no-brainer!

Alpha Daddy's Innocent Little by Alice Newgate

Blurb:

He always gets what he wants… She’s not ready to be owned…

MEGAN
I met him once - just one single time and I can’t stop thinking about him.
I know I should run as fast as my legs can carry me…but he’s so enthralling and frankly.
I’m tired of being a good little girl. Perhaps it’s time to be a bad little girl and; I have the perfect daddy in mind…

FRANKLIN
When I want something, I go for it. And even though I don’t do long-term relationships, women are no exception.
I’ve always been sure that this was the life I wanted and I was certain till I met her.
The outrageously sexy and curvaceous brunette. I mean I want to look away but what man could say no to a woman whose body melts like hers does when I touch her…

Alpha Daddy's Innocent Little is a steamy whirlwind, BDSM romance between two consenting adults. They have an undeniable connection but attempt to fight it as best as they can. It includes some age play and is packed with steamy scenes, curveballs, love, and a happily-ever-after. Enjoy!

My review:

Alpha Daddy's Innocent Little is a fast-paced steamy tale of two people who don’t want to be attracted to each other but they are to the point of obsession. This isn’t so much a DDlg story as it is an insta-lust BDSM. It is a quick and dirty escape.

One Grand Priestess, the most magical Witch of her time, the Leader of her kind, and a survivor of torture.
Two powerful beings, blessed by the Goddess, destined by the Universe… a couple unlike any other.

Only Destiny knows…
But keep your fingers crossed because Fate Will Not Be Denied and Maddox is one Dragon not even the Devil himself wants to tangle with.

Note: The books can be read as stand-alone stories, but it is advisable to read them in order to get the most enjoyment from the series

My review:

Calysta is the Grand Priestess, the most magical Witch of her time, the Leader of her kind, and a survivor of torture who discovers her fated mate may just be the grumpiest dragon guardian out there. Mad Maddox is happiest living by himself in his mountain he has no clue what to do with a mate especially one as powerful as Calysta.

This entertaining read has them learning each other while fighting together. This story is filled with humor and love.

Grumpy Dragon Cowboy (Grumpy Dragons #2) by Milly Taiden & Anne Hale

Blurb:

Big city developer Katherine Taylor needs to prove herself, and she’s doing that by opening a resort in the Colorado mountainside. What her stakeholders don’t know, is that she has an ulterior motive for her location selection. There have been dragon sightings in the area, and she’s determined to learn the truth about the legendary creatures. Of course, she didn’t expect for a real one to be so good looking or make her so flustered.

Colt Rivers is a bronze dragon who managed to evade the Slayers years ago and settle into a little piece of heaven on the Colorado mountainside. When construction begins, he’s compelled to come out of hiding so he can attempt to stop Katherine from building a tourist trap in the area. But that’s easier said than done, when her smile and natural beauty make him forget what the goal is.

The two should be instant enemies, but their attraction to each other is too strong. Sparks will fly, but a couple with this many secrets may fizzle before they fly. And when Katherine needs Colt to put their difference aside and save her, he’s going full dragon for his mate.

My review:

Grumpy Dragon Cowboy is an opposites attraction romance that will have you rooting for them to beat the odds.

All Colt wants is to live on his ranch away from humans and Slayers and noise. So when Katherine starts to develop a resort on the property next to his Colt gets really grumpy. How’s a dragon to think with all that noise? When they meet sparks fly and so do tempers. This story was a total hoot.

The Accidental Gargoyle: An Accidental Quickie (Accidentals) by Dakota Cassidy

Blurb:

As a one-time OOPs employee, Ingrid Lawson has seen plenty of paranormal accidents. But witnessing and experiencing are two different things, and she’s perfectly fine being a plain ol’ human. So when her ex-boss Nina schleps her around to estate sales, where she purchases two of the butt-ugliest gargoyles in existence to decorate her hedge maze…what happens next is stone-cold cuckoo.

Suddenly, Ingrid’s beloved career as an animal therapist is on hold as Nina, Wanda, Marty and the OOPs gang help her navigate a rocky new life as a nocturnal paranormal with big horns, bigger ears, and an aversion to sunlight. Oh, and there’s the inconvenient matter of attraction to the man who turned her…who’s so familiar… And did we mention the screeching harpies hellbent on getting their hands on her?

It’s all hands on deck to keep Ingrid alive until the danger passes, but throw in an old enemy they never saw coming, and her case just may be the hardest yet!

My review:

The Accidental Gargoyle is a quick and adorable addition to the accidentals series and like the others it can be read stand alone. When Ingrid is accidentally turned into a gargoyle the Oops team takes her under their care and gets her through the madness and danger that comes with each turn and if she gets to spend a little quality time with a gorgeous guy along the way so much the better. I truly loved this installment.

Tennessee Daddy's Princess Little by Alice Newgate

Blurb:

She needs someone to see beyond her past mistakes and offer her a future. He needs someone who listens, who makes him feel good about being the man he is.

STACEY
Sent to live in Tennessee with Uncle Cole and Aunt Beth-Anne I feel lost out here. Back home in Oklahoma I became the shame of my home town and now I'm here with only my cousin Jessica for company.
That is until Dale buys the Jensen house. Welcoming him to Holler Ridge was the best move I've made in two years.
He's ripped, effortlessly sexy, and doesn't treat me like a kid, he looks at me like he really sees me. There's just one problem, I'm the last in a very long line of single ladies salivating at the new blood in town.

DALE
Every rancher wants their land to be worth a little more than it is, and that's where I come in. Working as a geologist for the company most of these ranchers are selling to means I get to test their soil for minerals and gas, which is how I find myself moving to small town Tennessee. It's not quite the backwoods but it's close.
I wasn't expecting to fall for an Irish Princess in my second week of being here but like a gift from the heavens she arrived in her little red pickup with her cousin, giving me a warm Southern welcome.
She's teasing me, playing head games, and I am captivated.
I need her, but the age gap is more than most ladies can handle. This Thanksgiving I'm hoping she'll give me one more reason to be thankful this year.

Tennessee Daddy's Princess Little is a hot, short, sexy Age Play featuring two consenting adults who are the perfect match for each other. It includes some Daddy Dom Ddlg elements, some moments of suspense, lots of lust and love, and a Happily Ever After you can root for. Enjoy!

My review:

I was torn while reading this. On one hand this is a hot and sexy story of two like minds people finding each other. On the other I had a problem with the heroine being just eighteen to the heroes forty-two and their justifications. If you can get past that I’m sure you’ll enjoy this story.

Blurb:

Point, click, die.

When two hikers disappear, their hometown in Maine blames the blinding storms. But the truth is far more sinister. Unaware of the danger, tabloid photographer Jayne Sullivan follows an anonymous tip to find the most reclusive sculptor in the art world. Instead, she finds sexy handyman Reed Kimball—and a small town full of fatal secrets.

And where is the second hiker? Avoiding the media, Reed doesn’t need a murder, a missing person, or a nosey photographer. Then Jayne is attacked, and her courage is his undoing.

Reed must risk everything to protect her - and find a cunning killer

My review:

Midnight Exposure is the first in the series that was so good it has me running for the next. This is a captivating mystery with a sweet romance. Reed is a retired cop and a reclusive artist Jayne has been tasked with getting his picture but has to confirm that he and the artist are one and the same but by the time she confirms her heart and a killer are involved. This is a twisted delight.

Songs and Sweethearts (Untouchable #10) by Heather Long

Blurb:

Everything begins.

Everything ends.

Sometimes, it has to end before it begins.

In the course of a year, I have had my heart broken, reforged, only to be shattered again. The tears won’t come. Not anymore. No more looking back. No more asking what if.

Coop wants me to let myself feel it. Jake wants to distract me. Archie wants to put the world at my feet. Ian wants me to not make choices until I’m ready. I’ve got family ready to catch me, but I refuse to fall.

No more waiting.

No more holding my breath.

The future is now.

We have a chance to forge the path we want and I’m all in.

So why does it feel like I’m running away?

My review:

Have you read the earlier books? NO?! GO DO SO NOW!

Frankie and Bubba hit the road and make beautiful music. This installment starts and ends on a somber note but I trust the author to make it better in the next book. This book shows Frankie and her boys growing and changing but working to stay together. I love each installment and eagerly await the next.
