At Her Service (Mistresses of the Board Room #2) by Joey W. Hill and Giveaway

Blurb:

Two Dominants.

One a Navy SEAL.

One a Mistress facing a hell she can't escape.

Luckily, hell is just another day at the office for a SEAL...

Abigail Rose is CFO for Thomas Rose Associates, a successful New Orleans marketing firm she runs with her best friend Rosalinda Thomas, and their three fellow executives, Cyn, Vera and Skye.

Since all five are Dommes, they work and play together. However, Abby has lived with the threat of a severe mental illness for most of her life, and now the monster has come out of the shadows. Everything that defines her--including her control as a Mistress--is shattering.

Neil Shepherd is so calm under pressure, his SEAL teammates know he'll hold the line, no matter what goes down on a mission. At home, he finds his peace navigating the waters of the Louisiana bayou. As a Dom himself, he shouldn’t be attracted to Abby, but Fate doesn’t consult the power exchange playbook when it comes to who is meant to be together. From the first time they meet, he knows he wants her. Even the shadows that are trying to claim her won’t stop him.

My review:

This may be this authors best work to date and that is saying something. This is a powerful, beautifully ugly, heartbreakingly emotional tale of love and mental illness. It was my trust in this author that got me through this story. I cried ugly tears for Abby, Neil and the ladies of TRA. This author has never shied away from difficult subjects and handles this with compassion and clarity. I will be reading this story again and again.

Fated Blades (Kinsmen #3) by Ilona Andrews and giveaway

Blurb:

An uneasy alliance between warring families gets heated in this otherworldly novella from bestselling author Ilona Andrews.

At first glance, the planet Rada seems like a lush paradise. But the ruling families, all boasting genetically enhanced abilities, are in constant competition for power―and none more so than the Adlers and the Baenas. For generations, the powerful families have pushed and pulled each other in a dance for dominance.

Until a catastrophic betrayal from within changes everything.

Now, deadly, disciplined, and solitary leaders Ramona Adler and Matias Baena must put aside their enmity and work together in secret to prevent sinister forces from exploiting universe-altering technology. Expecting to suffer through their uneasy alliance, Ramona and Matias instead discover that they understand each other as no one in their families can―and that their combined skills may eclipse the risks of their forbidden alliance.

As the two warriors risk their lives to save their families, they must decide whether to resist or embrace the passion simmering between them. For now, the dance between their families continues―but just one misstep could spell the end of them both

My review:

Fated Blades is an exciting addition to the Kinsmen series but can be read standalone. This story will get your heart pounding and keep you riveted till the very end. A smart and thrilling tale of betrayal with a bit of romance to spice it up.

The Fairy Dance by Tara Lain

Blurb:

What if the man of your dreams dances into your life—and he’s a nutcracker?

Maintenance man, Jed, might yearn for an alpha-femme guy, but where’s he going to find him in his small Oregon town?

New York ballet rising star, Henri, just wants to dance, but his desire for top roles only leads him into the pervy artistic director’s bed.

The chances of these two meeting are less likely than a grand jete. But then they do, one pre-holiday evening in a less-than-one-night stand that leaves them both yearning. Still, one short hookup on a kitchen floor doesn’t turn Jed and Henri into a match made in heaven. Not when all the world sees is a janitor and the ballet boss’s potential boy toy.

Sounds like a job for the Sugarplum Fairy.

The Fairy Dance is an opposites-attract, big city vs small town, holiday MM romance—in tights.

My review:

When it’s right its right. Henri may be a rising star of the New York ballet but he still has a heart and building manager Jed makes Henri’s heart beat faster. The dance between Jed and Henri reads like the best symphonic ballet. The notes tying these two together sing and float and make you feel. I enjoyed this story so much.

Midlife Shifter Christmas by J.L. Wilder

Blurb:

Our new alpha is the Grinch himself.
Now I just have to seduce him to save Christmas.

Jemma
It’s not easy being a widow and empty nester,
But at least I have our clan’s annual Christmas celebration to run.
That was until our new alpha came to town and banned all things Christmas.
The same man I accidentally just had a one-night stand with. Whoops.

Now I have to convince this gruff, stubborn, and insanely hot alpha,
that Christmas is worth saving.
If I can’t seduce him with carols and holiday cheer,
I’ll just have to wrap myself in a bow—
Christmas will definitely be coming this year.

Ben
My new clan is more human than bear.
Now that I’m the new alpha, things are going to change.
No more mistletoes, no more Christmas trees—
it’s time to listen to what your alpha decrees.

It would be so easy if this tempting she-bear,
Wasn’t trying to destroy my plan.
She may think she can get in my pants to get what she wants.
But this Santa bear is here to remind her
Be careful what you wish for, little bear.

My review:

Midlife Shifter Christmas by J.L. Wilder is a sexy and heartwarming tale of new beginnings. Jenna has been a widow for five years. Her children are grown and off to college. Her friends have been encouraging her to go out. Ben is the boy that bullied her as a child and then left town. Now he’s back. They’ve both changed.

Jenna has been grasping onto any occasion to be happy There is no reason for happiness like Christmas. Can she get Ben to understand the joy of the season?

I really liked this story and highly recommend.

Dark Tarot (Dark #31) by Christine Feehan

Blurb:

Sandu Berdardi continues to exist only to protect his people. An ancient Carpathian, his entire long life has been dedicated to honor above all else. He knows his time has passed, especially since he has not been able to find his lifemate — the anchor to keep him sane in a world he no longer understands. But just as he truly starts to give up hope, a voice reaches out to him in the night and his world explodes into color.

Adalasia enters Sandu's mind seamlessly, as if she has been a part of him forever. While she can see the shape of things to come in her deck of cards, her gift is both a blessing and a curse. The true course of Sandu's quest remains unclear, with danger waiting at every turn. She cannot see everything the future holds, but she does know it is a journey they will take together.

My review:

Dark Tarot is a wonderful addition to the Carpathian saga. In this installment ancient Carpathian warrior Sandu Berdardi finds his lifemate in tarot reader Adalasia Ravasio. Together with four other ancients they travel around the world seeking answers to further their quest. We get to see some of our favorite couples from previous books. This is a thrilling adventure filled with action and love. This book is beautifully written and is filled with fabulous pictures from the cover to the tarot cards that introduce each chapter.

Your Vileness by R.R. Orange

Blurb:

Amandine Klinghoffer is a daring young detective working on her first independent case in the fabled kingdom of Glamwein.

Was there a murder in the royal palace? And if so, who stands to benefit from plaguing the prince with ghosts?

Prince Ivan, the lazy, cowardly, good-for-nothing embarrassment of the realm is hiding something.

He would rather profess his undying love for Amandine than give her any useful information. He is obviously using romance to distract her from finding the truth.

As Amandine investigates with Ivan’s “help” she begins to suspect a plot that threatens the fate of the entire kingdom and its magical beings.

My review:

This is a fun often laugh out loud romp that will get you thinking of right and wrong.  Our heroine Amandine comes from a logic based background even though she can see ghosts. She’s been apprenticed to a famous detective whom she admires greatly. She is thrilled when he gives her a solo case going undercover for the King and Queen of the magical kingdom of Glamwein. She is assigned to protect Prince Ivan from ghosts bent on attacking him and find out who is sending them.

I love the logic versus magic contrasts and the supporting characters gave me reason to smile in this delightful fairytale. I felt for Amandine and was cheering her on from first page to last.

Enemy Heir (Tattered Royals #2) by Carrie Ann Ryan & Nana Malone

Blurb:

A bad boy prince meets his match in this epic Tattered Royals stand-alone romance.

I know men like him.
Powerful. Arrogant. Trouble. The world is his playground.
The playboy prince, the tabloid favorite, and the bane of my existence.
And unfortunately, he’s the only one who might be able to help me uncover the truth.
We're all but shackled together as he works to help me find my stalker before another attack
I don’t want to trust him. I don’t want to want him.
But letting Breck Waterford in might be the only thing to save us both.

I’ve never met a woman like her.
My secrets are mine to keep, but she has a habit of finding the truth.
Sparrow Bridges can’t discover who I am under the crown.
She’s everything I told myself I couldn’t have.
I push her away every chance I can…only every time I look at her, I fall harder.
When danger comes, I can’t stand the idea of losing her before I have a chance to claim her.
She doesn’t need a savior. But anyone who threatens Sparrow will soon find they don’t want me as an enemy.

My review:

I’ll admit I didn’t like Breck very much to start but like Sparrow he grew on me and in the end I thought him dreamy. Breck as the spare to the heir puts out a very “Prince Harry” vibe from his bad boy days. But like Harry there is more to him than meets the eye and I delighted in finding each new strength. Sparrow is strong, smart and independent. It irks her to need anybody but she is forced by circumstance to trust the playboy prince but can she trust him with her heart?

Alpha Geek: Dax by Milly Taiden

Blurb:

Leopard shifter Meghan Bennett had an award-winning career as a police detective, but she left the force behind after corruption got the better of her team. Now she’s one of the top agents in Nick’s shifter security force, and she’s about to face her biggest challenge yet—a smoking hot geek with a heart of gold and a big old target on his back.

Since scientist Dax Hall lost his parents to cancer, he’s devoted his professional career to the dream of ending the disease. With advances in nanobot technology, he’s finally closer to a cure than ever before, but someone out there doesn’t want him to succeed. When he can no longer ignore the danger, he reluctantly accepts a security guard and is floored when the agent assigned to him turns out to be sexier than the lustiest dark-haired beauty of his wettest dreams.

But when Meghan cannot stop an attack on Dax, she has to make a grim decision. When the geek awakes, everything he’s ever thought he’s known about life and science has been changed. Will the choices Meghan made for him be worth the chance at giving his cure to humanity…and at letting Dax and Meghan have a long life together?

Reader’s Note: Hang on to your panties, my geek lovers. This is another dirty, fun, and action-packed alpha read! As with all my books, adults only, please. Enjoy, you awesome freaky readers.

My review:

Shifters are stronger than humans leopard shifter Meghan Bennett knows this first hand. Smart, sexy driven Meghan is shaken to the core when her human partner is killed. She leaves the police force to join fellow shifter Nicks’ security agency to protect humans without the danger of losing another human partner.

Dax knows he’s a nerdy guy but he is a genius determined to find the cure for cancer. He may be a skinny pale dude but he is focused and driven. When someone wants to destroy his lifes work he is forced to consider security. He never expected Meghan.

These two gel from the start. But will their fear of losing someone new keep them from finding love? This is a steamy romp that will keep me smiling for some time to come.

The Geek Who Saved Christmas by Annabeth Albert

Blurb:

His grumpy neighbor needs some holiday sunshine…

Gideon Holiday is the perfect neighbor. Need a cup of sugar? Spare folding chair? Extra batteries? He’s always ready to help. And he’s waited years for his hot, grumpy, silver fox neighbor, Paul, to need him. For anything. But this December, Gideon would be happy if he could just get the Scrooge-like Paul on board with the neighborhood holiday lights fundraiser.

Paul Frost has no intention of decking his halls or blazing any Yule logs. Even if his spunky bowtie-clad neighbor does look perfect for unwrapping, Paul would prefer to hide away until December is done. But when his beloved younger brother announces an unexpected visit, Paul needs all the trimmings for a festive homecoming—and fast.

Luckily, Gideon is there with a color-coded plan to save Christmas. Soon Paul’s hanging lights, trimming trees, and rolling out cookies. And steaming up his new flannel sheets with Gideon. How did that happen?

It’ll take some winter magic to preserve their happiness and keep these rival neighbors together longer than one holiday season.

The Geek Who Saved Christmas is a low-angst m/m holiday romance with a guaranteed happy ending. This grumpy/sunshine, neighbors-to-lovers, found family tale features two heroes in their forties figuring out that maybe their sexily-ever-after was right next door the whole time. It stands alone and is not connected to any of the author’s other universes. However, it does contain a heaping helping of the same emotions and steamy moments readers have come to expect!

My review:

Get your Hallmark loving heart ready for this delightful holiday tale of love. This is a sweet and sexy tale of two guys finding love among the trappings of Christmas and family. I LOVE that the heroes are in their forties and have some history under their belts. This story will make you smile and will melt your heart.

The Cowboy's Secret by Red Phoenix

Blurb:

“Kiss my whip, darlin’…”

I’m not your average cowboy. While I may have tight jeans and a big “belt buckle”, my real talent lies in using my bullwhip to pleasure the ladies.

Known for my special brand of kink and my sense of humor, I have worked hard to carve out my own path, until the day I get the call from my father that our family is about to lose the Anderson ranch.

I am willing to sacrifice everything in my search to find a solution that will save my family’s homestead. In the process, I am introduced to an extraordinary person.

Little do I know that my solution will involve this mysterious stranger who demands I keep a secret.

 This secret will change everything.

My review:

This is a smart erotic trip. I enjoyed getting to know Brad, Thane and Durov but feel like I was dropped into the middle of a story and had no idea what was going on. That being said I’ve already purchased the next installment.

He knows who his mate is and has done everything possible to keep the nephilim, Ambriel Storm, out of his thoughts and his bed. He doesn’t have the patients or the time for a liar and a thief.

The day Brie met Arric, she knew she should have walked away at first sight. But the pull to him is too strong. He has consumed her thoughts and dreams ever since she left him years ago. It’s hard not to think about him when her son looks too much like his father.

The five-year-old has fallen ill due to the curse placed on the factions. She has no choice but to seek out his father for help. But would he forgive her betrayal to save their son and his whole race?

My review:

Wicked Treason is a convoluted tale of love and magic. I enjoyed Arric and Brie’s tale but have to admit some of the motivations passed me by. Nonetheless, I heartily recommend and look forward to the next installment.
