Worth the Wait (Nature of Desire #9) by Joey W. Hill

Blurb:
Is he worth the heartbreak?

At nearly forty, Julie isn’t so sure she’ll ever find a man who is, so she’s vowed that all her big 4-0 decisions will have zip to do with relationships. A successful theater manager, she agrees to travel to North Carolina and help a friend put her erotic performance theater on its feet. Julie has always been curious and drawn to the BDSM world, and now she can safely explore that world in the environment she knows best.

Desmond Hayes is the roofing contractor repairing their rundown theater building, but he’s also a rigger, well-known in the BDSM world for his rope artistry. He’s not just a top, though; he’s a Dom whose unexpected quirks mesh too well with Julie’s eccentric personality and awaken her submissive side.

From the time he was born, Des has been fighting the odds against him. Because of that, he’s kept his relationships inside the BDSM scene with clear boundaries. While Julie has almost given up on finding a person worth loving through better or worse—or pleasure and pain—Des never expected to receive that gift.

He’s not letting that treasure get away—no matter how much rope he has to use to bind her to him.

My review:
Worth the Wait (Nature of Desire #9) by Joey W. Hill is as complex and simple as love itself.  We met Julie in Rough Canvas (Nature of Desire #6) and now as she nears 40 she finally meets a man she can fall for whether she should or not is a whole other thing.  Julie has made poor choices in men except for Marcus and Thomas her best friends who are totally committed to each other. She wants a love like theirs and despairs of ever finding it. When she lets go and lets life steer her to new challenges life throws Desmond Hayes in her path. The attraction is instant and combustible. Julie is outraged that the fates are playing her this way. Can she move past her past and give Des and the future a chance?
Worth the Wait will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions that will leave you breathless. This is the type of story that stays with you way past the last page.

Line Brawl (The Dartmouth Cobras #8) by Bianca Sommerland

Blurb:
Not all fights are one on one. In a team, no man should stand alone.

‘You can’t keep me.’

Shawn ‘Easy’ Pischlar has given his speech so often, it should be written on the white board in the Dartmouth Cobra’s locker room. Too many of his own teammates have heard the words.

And the games he’s played are finally catching up to him.

To hang on to his freedom, Shawn gave up on ever having someone to call his own. A young woman who expects nothing from him slips into his life and has him ready to toss the rulebook. While the man he loves tempts him to burn it.

Keeping them both would be easy, only…caring about them isn’t.

Because when he lets himself care, he remembers why he wrote the rules in the first place. Every lover, from the casual, to those who steal a piece of his heart, shouldn’t expect more than pleasure. More than passion.

Playing the game, on and off the ice, is his whole world. One he isn’t ready to change.

Except, life doesn’t stop for the game. And when old scars are ripped open, and he’s left bloody and beaten, the rules won’t help him put the pieces of his life back together.

To win this fight, he’ll have to break each and every one.

My review:
Bianca Sommerland doesn’t skimp this book will take you through an entire gamut of emotions. This is not a book for those easily offended.  I loved Shawn ‘Easy’ Pischlar the guy nobody could pin down. Mr “One Night Only” until of course he fell for his best friend Ian “Bruiser” White. Of course there are issues there and then he meets and is smitten by the pure but not so innocent Justina. Karma is a bitch and Shawn is about to get a dose. There is Carters little sister Sam the girl you love to hate, an assault from an old heartbreak, and lots of team goings on. This book will take you on one hell of an emotional rollercoaster ride and then there is the hot sex. Break out the tissues and a cold drink and enjoy.

Matanzas Moon by Elizabeth Raven

Blurb:
Free-spirited Bridget Quinn is keenly aware that she has always been slightly off-center from her peers. She'd honed her skills in Palmistry, Tarot, and Astrology since the tender age of nine. Plagued by night terrors involving deceased pets she attended as a Veterinary Technician while applying to Vet School, she decides to pack her three black cats and move to St. Augustine, FL to open Lunatique, a New Age/Metaphysical store in the heart of the Historic District. Living in our nation's oldest, and notoriously haunted, city Bridget is unable to deny her newly discovered gift of clairvoyance. Her hopes of a quiet life of introspection are shattered as a spirit clamors for her assistance. When her attempts to help implicate her in the ghastly murders at Flagler College, Bridget finds herself caught in a web of mystery and mayhem. Her heart dangling between Nick Maddox, the compellingly attractive but rigorously skeptical police officer, and RIP Ryder, a witty and rascally hearse-driving ghost tour guide, Bridget endeavors to stop the madness as the body count rises.

My review:
I am not a fan of scary but was convinced to give this book a try. It reads like a grown up paranormal Nancy Drew mystery. The secondary characters are fun and our heroine is a spunky treat.  I love how the author makes St. Augustine, FL a character in the story.  A good read. I look forward to the next installment.

A Special Connection by Theresa Troutman

Blurb:
For readers 18+ due to language and sexual situations.

Life has been a constant challenge for Jake Lewis. Left paralyzed emotionally and physically by a car accident which killed his parents when he was just twelve-years-old, Jake struggles to be happy. His best friends, Rick Welsh and Samantha Andrews, are a couple who fight as passionately as they make up. This puts Jake in an awkward position.

Three friends who are as close as can be.

Rick Welsh, the hotshot basketball player, who hopes to leave college and go pro.
Samantha Andrews, the brainiac, blessed with common sense and beauty.
Jake Lewis, the crippled virgin, who believes no girl could love a damaged guy with a disability.

In a moment of despair, these friends share a moment that will forever change their lives.

Life is messy.
Love is complicated and true love doesn’t always come wrapped in a pretty package with a bow on top.

Is it possible that the friend you never had sexual feelings for is the person who will touch your soul like no other?

My review:
A sweet friends to lovers story. A tale of three friends coming of age. I got a kick out of this story. Yes there is sex. But it is part of the story. Take a chance on this quick read.

Mr. and Mr. Smith by HelenKay Dimon

Blurb:
Secrets and seduction make for an explosive combination in HelenKay Dimon’s edgy, thrilling new series, which kicks off with a novel about two men who can handle any threat—except the one posed by desire.

Fisher Braun knows how to keep a secret. As a covert paramilitary operative, his job—and his life—depends on it. He’s at the top of his game, ready for action and always in control. No enemy has ever brought him to his knees, but one lover has: Zachary Allen, the man currently sharing his bed. The perfect package of brains and brawn, Zach is someone worth coming home to, and Fisher hates keeping him in the dark about what he does. But the lies keep Zach safe. Until the day Fisher loses everything. . . .

Zachary Allen is no innocent civilian. Although he plays the tech geek, in reality he’s deep undercover for the CIA. In a horrible twist of fate, the criminal enterprise he’s infiltrated has set its sights on the man whose touch drives him wild. Zach would do anything for Fisher—except blow his own cover. Now, in order to save him, Zach must betray him first. And he needs Fisher to trust him with all his heart if they want to make it out alive.

Includes a special message from the editor, as well as an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

My review:
m/m
When spies fall in love it is never pretty. Lies are not a great foundation for love. Such is the case for Fisher & Zach. Zach has always known that Fisher is a spy but Fisher didn’t know that Zach was undercover CIA. When it comes to light all hell breaks loose. It takes a while and Zach almost dying but Fisher does eventually get his head out of his ass in time for a HEA. I loved the secondary characters and Zach. There were times I wanted to Gibbs slap Fisher. All in all a good read.

Demon Hunting With a Dixie Deb (Demon Hunting #4) by Lexi George

Blurb:
Deep South legends. Deep fried curses. Deep dish revenge . . .

This Debutante Is Having A Ball!

Way down south in the land of cotton, one belle's plans are soon forgotten--when Sassy Peterson drives her Maserati off the road to avoid a deer and lands smack-dab in the proverbial creek without a paddle. The Alabama heiress should have known something weird was going on when she saw the deer's ginormous fangs. Hello, Predator Bambi!

But nothing can prepare her for the leather-clad, muscle-bound, golden-eyed sex god who rescues her. Who wears leather in May? That's just the first of many questions Sassy has when her savior reveals he's a demon hunter named Grim. Also: Why would a troop of fairies want to give her magical powers and rainbow hair? Why would a style-challenged beast called the Howling Hag want to hunt her down?

Most importantly, what's a nice debutante like Sassy doing in a place like this anyway? Besides feeling Grim . . .

My review:
I LOVE this book!!!  This book is chock full of giggle-snorting fun! This is a hilarious check your brain at the door type of series and Demon Hunting With a Dixie Deb may just be the best installment yet.  And though it is part of a series this book can be read standalone (although I predict a binge reading of the back list right after). If you like your southern fried humor sexy silly and sassy you can’t go wrong with this series or this book.

My review:
Unlike the first book in this series Treasure Me starts off with a bang and keeps your heart racing until the very end. Blurb:

He is much more than the horrific job title and now he needs to prove it to her!

Note from the Author: Call Me Lucifer, a paranormal erotic romance + D/s and toys at 32k words, is part of Good, Bad and Kinky, and this is its third release.

My review:
Even Lucifer, the Prince of Darkness deserves love. Now after eons Lucifer has found the woman of his heart. The one woman meant for him. Now he just has to convince God to let him retire and convince her that the devil is in the details. Call Me Lucifer is Tilly Greene at her kinky best.

My review:
I was not familiar with the world of Magic, New Mexico but I love the work of Cathryn Cade so was thrilled to give it a try. I’ll admit to being a little worried about the dead girlfriend as the idea of zombie sex squicks me out but the author handled it beautifully. Guarding Grayson is a bit like the Terminator meets Roswell. It will take you on a fun ride of imagination. Really well done.

Deadly Testimony (Safeguard #2) by Piper J. Drake

Blurb:
The stakes have never been higher as an elite team member must outwit a dangerous killer and save the man she's sworn to protect. The second installment of the exhilarating Safeguard series from Piper J. Drake.

Kyle Yeun didn't start out bad and he doesn't intend to end his life while on the wrong side of the law, either. His testimony to his former employer's environmental misdeeds has earned him a protection detail compliments of the US government. But due to a dark international conspiracy Kyle was unaware of, his former employers have made ending his life a top priority. Realizing he needs more protection than the US Marshals can provide, he turns to Safeguard after seeing the beautiful, deadly Lizzy Scott in action.

One look at Kyle, and sniper Lizzy Scott knows this isn't going to be an easy protection job. He's arrogant, irritating and almost irresistible. Instead of being put off by her hardened attitude, Kyle seems to thrive off the challenge. And she's slowly giving in to his charms.

After narrowly escaping the latest assassination attempt, Lizzy starts taking dangerous risks to keep him safe. But the last thing Kyle wants is another life ruined because of his actions. He found his redemption in Lizzy's arms and he'll risk everything to make sure they both make it out alive. As will she, even if it means walking away from him to keep him safe.

Book two of the Safeguard series

My review:
Oh what a good read! Female bodyguard and hot Asian male protectee. Lots of action and adventure. Kyle and Lizzy were made for each other! I love how they bring out the best in each other.  This story will keep you on the edge of your seat and up past your bedtime.

Prowled Darkness (Dante's Circle, #7) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:
Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?

Eliana Sawyer’s life was rocked from its foundation twice in as many years. She risked her heart and had it shattered into a thousand pieces when Malik left her with no warning. While she’d normally raise her chin and ignore the pain, she can’t forget what he gave her before he disappeared from her life.

Malik Ward is a prince amongst the lion shifters and knows that one day he will have to take a mate. Only, his people can never mate with humans. Under the mistaken impression that Eliana was only human, he forced himself to leave before they’d crossed a line and he broke his vow to his people. Now that he knows the truth about Eliana, however, it will take more than groveling to win back the one woman fated to be his.

While Eliana and Malik embark on a new sensuous path that might lead to disaster, the realms aren’t ready to allow the final lightning-struck human to be enveloped into their fold. The couple will have to combat those plotting against them, as well as the broken promises and heated emotions they share.

Warning: Contains a Leo with a bite that’s worse than his roar, a woman with one last chance at the life she’s always dreamt of, a flame that could extinguish with the wrong sacrifice, and the final journey in the bestselling Dante’s Circle series.

My review:
In this final installment of Dante's Circle we get Eliana’s story. Due to a lack of open communication Eliana’s mate and the love of her life leaves her high and dry not knowing she is his true mate and carrying his cub. Now Malik is back and he wants it all. Her love, her forgiveness and their child. Watching Eliana battle her trust issues with regards to Malik was hard. I don’t know that I would have given in as quickly but I wasn’t facing single parenthood either. Eliana is a fantastic character strong in ways she doesn’t even realize. I really enjoyed watching her grow. Prowled Darkness is a wonderful exit to this terrific series.

Rival Forces (K-9 Rescue #4) by D.D. Ayres

Blurb:
DESIRE IS A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH

When it comes to training K-9 patrol dogs, Yardley Summers always trusts her instincts. But when it comes to dating men, she keeps her heart on a very short leash. Mostly, she’s too busy with her four-legged trainees at Harmonie Kennels to commit to a relationship. Only two men have managed to distract her: a handsome Doctors Without Borders physician who’s suddenly gone missing—and the red-hot dog trainer from her past who’s suddenly back in her life…

Now a K-9 rescue team leader, Kye McGarren has never forgotten the days he trained at Yardley’s camp—or the nights he spent in her arms. When he hears that Yardley is on a mission to find the missing doctor, Kye is determined to keep her out of danger. With his K-9 partner by his side, he joins Yardley on a death-defying mission—one that reignites their mutual passion. Will Kye be able to rescue his romantic rival…without losing the woman he loves?

My review:
A fantastic addition to this series! Yardley Summers is a strong independent woman succeeding in a male dominated field. Her love life has been the subject of much speculation. She had finally allowed herself to start caring for someone when he disappeared. Now a ghost from her past has shown up to help her find the guy who may be her future. This book is more intimate tan the others in the series I think because of the smaller cast and because of the amount of time these characters spend in their heads. I really like Yardley and was thrilled she got her happy.

Craving His Love (Black Hills Wolves #47) by Kayleigh Malcolm

Blurb:
Stone McKie has come back to the Black Hills, the only place he’s ever felt at home. He never expected to find a mate waiting, or that the creative omega would be terrified of him.

Josh was raised believing that he wasn’t worth anything other than being a whipping boy for more dominant wolves. The thought of being the mate to a big, burly tattoo artist is too terrifying to contemplate, but he can’t seem to keep his distance.

When a threat from Josh’s past catches up to him, he has to turn to the one man who scares him for protection. Can Josh get past his fears and accept the love he desperately craves? Will Stone have to leave the one place he’s ever felt at home, to follow his mate?

My review:
m/m
Big burly teddy bear wolf meets his mate in a tiny twink who is scared of him. When Stone first catches Josh’s scent he thinks “prey”. It could be because Josh is Omega or it could be because Josh is surrounded by fibers from prey animals, rabbits, sheep, goats etc., all day or it could be because Stone’s wolf wants to hunt him down and make him his own. He wants to hug and squeeze him and love him all to pieces. But first he has to prove his intentions are pure. It may kill him but anything worth having is worth working for. Short, sweet, sexy fun. A terrific addition to the series.

My review:
Secrets of Submission is the debut novel by L.K. Shaw and it will leave you wanting more by this young author.  The story is told from his and her points of view and it is nice to see both sides of the story. It makes it easier to understand where each of the characters are coming from. The characters are human and likable. I really want Donovan’s story. I look forward to more from this author.
