Prince of Air and Darkness (The Darkest Court #1) by M.A. Grant

Blurb:
Phineas Smith has been cursed with a power no one could control.

Roark Lyne is his worst enemy and his only hope.

The only human student at Mather’s School of Magick, Phineas Smith has a target on his back. Born with the rare ability to tap into unlimited magick, he finds both Faerie Courts want his allegiance—and will do anything to get it.

They don’t realize he can’t levitate a feather, much less defend the Faerie Realm as it slips into civil war.

Unseelie Prince Roark Lyne, Phineas’s roommate—and self-proclaimed arch nemesis—is beautiful and brave and a pain in the ass. Phineas can’t begin to sort through their six years of sexual tension masquerading as mutual dislike. But Roark is also the only one able to help Finn tame his magick.

Trusting Roark’s mysterious motives may be foolish; not accepting his temporary protection would be deadly.

Caught in the middle of the impending war, Phineas and Roark forge a dangerous alliance. And as the walls between them crumble, Phineas realizes that Roark isn’t the monster he’d imagined. But their growing intimacy threatens to expose a secret that could either turn the tide of the war…or destroy them both.

My review:
Prince of Air and Darkness is an incredible m/m fantasy filled with magic and mayhem. Unseelie Prince Roark Lyne is caught between politics and love and it takes our human hero Phineas Smith a long time to figure it out. But to be fair he is dealing with learning to control his incredible gift of magick. These two are ice and fire and totally combustible. I really enjoyed this book and its fantastic world. I look forward to the next installment.

Demon on the Down-Low (Supernatural Selection #3) by E.J. Russell

Blurb:
After decades of unrequited love, this kangaroo will jump at the chance for a date. Any date.

Lovelorn kangaroo shifter Hamish Mulherne, drummer for the mega-hit rock band Hunter’s Moon, waited years for the band’s jaguar shifter bassist to notice him. Instead, she’s just gotten married and is in a thriving poly relationship. How is Hamish supposed to compete with that? But with everyone else in the band mated and revoltingly happy, he needs somebody. Since he can’t expect true love to strike twice, he signs up with Supernatural Selection. Because what the hell.

When Zeke Oz was placed at Supernatural Selection through the Sheol work-release program, he thought he was the luckiest demon alive. But when he seems responsible for several massive matchmaking errors, he’s put on notice: find the perfect match for Hamish, or get booted back to Sheol for good. The only catch? He has to do it without the agency’s matchmaking spells, and Hamish simply will not engage.

But Zeke starts to believe that the reason all of Hamish’s dates fizzle is because nobody in the database is good enough for him. And Hamish realizes that his perfect match might be the cute demon who’s trying so hard to make him happy.

My review:
m/m
Demon on the Down-Low is a terrific addition to the Supernatural Selection series. This sweet tale answers a lot of questions from the earlier books. Zeke is a fabulous character and Hamish is a lucky drummer. I absolutely adored this story and recommend it heartily. This book can be read standalone but will be so much better if you’ve read Single White Incubus and Vampire with Benefits first.

Fierce Justice (True Heroes #5) by Piper J. Drake

Blurb:
As a K9 handler on the Search and Protect team, Arin Siri needs to be where the action is--and right now that's investigating a trafficking operation in Hawaii. When an enemy from her past shows up bleeding, she's torn between the desire to patch Jason up or put more holes in him. Then again, the hotshot mercenary could be the person she needs to bust open her case.

Jason Landon's team had always been about taking the contract, getting paid, and not asking questions. But after his last mission went south, he started to get curious. His questions quickly drove him out of his mercenary group and off the grid. Now, the only people he can think of to help him are the Search and Protect team -- and the dark beauty who is as ready to kill him as she is to bed him. And he's totally ready to risk the former for the chance at the latter. But he isn't the only person with a target on his back. Arin's in danger too, and he'll do everything he can to keep her safe.

My review:
Fierce Justice is a wonderful romantic suspense. I love books by this author as I always feel like it is a total immersion experience. This story is no different. The characters are flawed and real and totally swoon worthy. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to more adventures in this series.

Armed 'N' Ready (Federal K-9 #2) by Tee O'Fallon

Blurb:
Massachusetts State Police Sgt. Nick Houston is as tough as they come, and he and his K-9, Saxon, are hot on the trail of a major illegal gun dealer. But his best lead—the beautiful owner of the Dog Park Café, Andi Hardt––is not cooperating. Doesn’t matter how sexy she is, or that his dog seems to be in love with her. She’s a suspect and he won’t cross that line. Ever.

Andi Hardt sank everything into her dream business—the Dog Park Café, a restaurant catering to dogs as much as people. Now everything is in jeopardy because of one extremely frustrating, incredibly hot state trooper. Like it or not, she’s in Nick’s crosshairs, and he’s calling the shots. Her only option: cooperate, or lose everything she’s worked so hard for.

Nick and Andi are catapulted straight into the danger zone, forcing them to make life-altering choices, and face their desires. Risking his life for Andi is the easy part. Risking his heart is the toughest assignment Nick will face.

My review:
Armed 'N' Ready is a sweet romantic suspense that will have you flipping pages just to see what happens next. Neither K9 Police Sgt. Nick Houston nor Café owner Andi Hardt are looking for love but love has other ideas. I really enjoyed this story. I read it in one sitting to the exclusion of everything else. Though this is part of a series it can be read stand alone.

Legacies of Love by C.L. Roman, Tawdra Kandle, J.C. Layne, Olivia Hardin, Terri A. Wilson, Faith Starr

Legacies of Love by C.L. Roman, Tawdra Kandle, J.C. Layne, Olivia Hardin, Terri A. Wilson, Faith Starr

Blurb:
The items we inherit are tangible symbols of what has gone before. Reminders of our family history, values, and relationships.

However, such articles are often temporary. They can be lost, stolen, or destroyed. But the love passed down is a living thing - a permanent legacy that never dies.

The stories in this collection all center around an heirloom. An artifact handed down from one generation to the next. Some are meant to protect, others to remind the character where they came from, or of the devotion handed down from the previous generation.

Each of them is part of a legacy of love.

My review:
Six wonderful stories by six terrific authors who remind us our futures are molded by the past but not defined by it.
The Worlds Between Us by C.L. Roman – This is a fun paranormal adventure with childhood sweethearts finding each other again and helped out by a gift from the hero’s grandmother.
The Key To Valhalla by Terri A. Wilson – A terrific tale featuring Valkyries and other paranormal creatures. I loved this story and am thrilled there will be future adventures in this world.
The Way You Drive Me Crazy by Olivia Hardin – This is a really sweet tale that proves we can learn from history.
The Problem by Tawdra Kandle – Friends to lovers is always fun and this tale is no exception. I really liked Blake.
Fate’s Melodie by J.C. Layne – This is a fantastic tale about finding your soul mate and muse in the frenetic world of the music business. It goes to prove the world is a very small place.
The Sinful Agreement by Faith Starr – This story almost brought me to tears on more than one occasion. But boy was it good.

Bite My Bengal: PDA (Heads N' Tails Book 3) by Roxanne Witherell

Blurb:
How do you love once you’ve lost?

BJ Elwood, the oldest of a small group of friends, lost the love of her life five years ago. She’s content with being alone, but her friends scheme to set her up for happiness. What are the chances she can find love again? She isn’t a beauty, but maybe, just maybe, Gerri can find her a new love.

Dare Forrester has been alone since his wife died twenty years ago. He gave up finding love long ago. When he finds it again, will it be to only lose her in the same way? Could he survive another loss?

My review:
Bite My Bengal is a sweet and sexy tale of second love. I really liked the fact that the H/h of this story are older. Love isn’t just for 20 or 30 somethings. This story has really good energy. Though this is part of a series it can be read standalone.

Gilded (New Rules Trilogy Book 2) by Bianca Sommerland

Blurb:
Everything has a price.

Self-made millionaire Xavier Ashburne has never stopped fighting for control. Money and power gave him some, but there’s still so much uncertainty neither can overcome.

When his longtime lover and partner, Luther Cross, leaves on a trip to reconnect with his brother, Xavier is left to manage their business and household alone. He’d never realized how much he relied on his man—especially when it comes to their shared submissive, Alexander Tremaine.

As a reformed thief, Alexander came into Xavier’s life in the most unconventional fashion, but before too long, stole his way into Xavier’s heart. And now that he’s there, Xavier needs the control he’s won to keep him safe and happy.

But when Xavier’s past comes back to haunt them, all the riches in the world won’t be enough.

Money is worthless.

Power merely existence painted in gold.

My review:
m/m/m
If Polished (New Rules Trilogy Book 1) was Alec’s book this one is Xavier’s. We learn a whole lot more about him and See how he came to be as he is and even get to watch him grow a bit. It was really great to see the dynamic between the three develop. Luther, Xavier and Alec will bury themselves into your heart.

Caught in the Aftermath (Fate's Vultures #3) by Jami Gray

Blurb:
Vengeance can leave you blind...

The world didn't end in fire and explosions, instead it collapsed slowly, like falling dominoes, an intensifying panic of disease, food shortages, wild weather and collapsing economies, until what remained of humanity battles for survival in a harsh new reality.

After surviving a brutal betrayal that left his world of secrets soaked in blood, Math must lead the handful of survivors on a mission of revenge. He's spent years on his enemy's trail, his focus crystal clear ... until his nemesis turns the tables by using one of Math's people as bait for an inevitable trap. To avoid becoming prey, Math must seek an alliance with Fate's Vultures, an enigmatic crew guaranteed to screw with his long-held rule-rely on no one.

A looming conflict poised to rock society's fragile peace forces Vex and her fellow Vultures into a treacherous game where every move could burn them. To make matters worse, someone near and dear is selling them out, making trust a commodity they can ill afford. When Math requests the Vultures' help, Vex alone seems worried the resulting fallout will leave a target squarely on the Vultures' back. Partnered with the lethally attractive assassin, Vex soon faces a greater problem than the rising passion between them-one that will test the bonds of blood and loyalty.

When all is said and done, will they survive vengeance's aftermath?

My review:
Caught in the Aftermath is a high energy romantic adventure set in a post-apocalyptic future. Fast paced and furious action separated by falling in love will leave you gasping. I absolutely loved it! This addition to the series is filled with surprises. This book will be better if you’ve read the earlier books but can be read standalone.

Jagged Ink (Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs #3) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:
The Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs series continues with a couple fighting to keep what they thought they had and gain what they didn’t know they needed.

Roxie Montgomery met her soul mate when she least expected it. When he asked her to marry him, she thought her happily ever after was only just beginning. Then, she found that walking into the sunset was much harder than her favorite books made it out to be. After a crushing loss, she feels as though she doesn’t know her husband anymore, or rather…she doesn’t know herself.

Carter Marshall has loved Roxie since the first time he saw her. But as the days pass between them, so does the distance. He doesn’t know how to show her that he’s all in, and honestly doesn’t know if she’s in at all. When an accident changes everything, they’ll have to decide if what they have can be salvaged, or if starting over is the answer. Or even possible.

Without fighting, without a true new beginning, sometimes, the remnants of what was lost can leave anyone jagged, shells of what they were before. It will take more than the idea of forever for Roxie and Carter to find themselves again, but as the Montgomerys know, nothing worth fighting for is easy.

My review:
Break out the tissues and the wine. This book will tear you up and make you cry for the first half then it will slowly rebuild stronger than ever and leave you crying happy tears. I’d been waiting for this book but I was not ready for the emotional ride the author takes us on but boy what a ride.

Inception (The Blood Court Book 2) by Dagmar Avery, K. Margaret, Stella Price

Blurb:
Things are heating up for House Blut. It’s obvious someone is trying to ruin their business, and now, someone is trying to kill Nymea. But who? And why?

Mea’s faith in her guard’s ability to keep her safe is unaltered, and the mystery of the attacks deepen when she starts receiving gifts --- pieces of her past --- that both help and confound her. And with Faerie reemerging from its dormant state, old flames return and new experiences are on the horizon. Including new guard and a new lady-in-waiting.

But the threat is there, however underlying, and Mea needs to deal with it before it gets out of hand, and hurts those she loves. Shades of the past collide with the present, and battle lines and loyalties will be drawn.

Because her inner circle is not secure.

My review:
Have you read Vexed (The Blood Court Book 1)? If not, you really should read it before you read this one. This book thankfully starts right where Vexed left off. This is a smoking hot roller-coaster ride that will leave you breathless and wanting more, more, more. The mystery deepens and we get new players. An exciting addition to the series.

Eat, Drink, and Be Scary (A Ravenmist Whodunit Paranormal Cozy Mystery #1) by Olivia Jaymes

Blurb:

Welcome to Ravenmist! A tiny Midwestern town with charming covered bridges, quirky residents, delightful antique shops, and more than their share of haunted activity.

It’s time for the annual Fall Festival, and that means the quaint Ravenmist Inn—owned by Theodosia “Tedi” Hamilton—is filled to the brim with out of town guests. It’s her favorite time of the year with all the spooky decorations, sugar-filled candy, and over the top costumes.

The festival doesn’t quite go as planned, however, when one of her guests is found face down in the apple bob. To make things worse, her best friend becomes the number one suspect. Tedi has no choice but to spring into action.

Come join the spirited antics as Tedi deals with an unsolved murder, a shy ghost in her closet, a mischievous spirit in the bookstore, and the handsome new local sheriff who drives her crazy. You see, he thinks all the ghost stories are made up for the tourists. But Tedi knows better, and now so will you…

My review:
Eat, Drink, and Be Scary is a delightful paranormal cozy mystery. Tedi is sweet and funny and the sheriff has possibilities. Ravenmist is a quiet town that has had not one but two murders in one weekend. Can the sheriff find the murderer in a town filled with tourists? I really enjoyed this story and can’t wait to read the next installment.

Blurb:
From planet Aurora, lioness shifter, Dalissa Furr, wants to explore new places before she goes insane from boredom. So a trip to Earth is a must. Finding her mate in the process would be great too, if Gerri Wilder can make it happen. But according to her parents, her smaller than normal size and delicate features make her undesirable to a shifter.

Azai Whittip, alpha of the White Tip wolf pack, will only accept his true mate for a life-long partner, to the dismay of the females in the pack. When Gerri asks him to take her friend sightseeing, he doesn’t expect this friend to be gorgeous and smell so damn good. Oh, and bonus, she’s his mate.

As far as Azai is concerned, life’s perfect now that he found Dalissa. But someone in his pack or the neighboring lion pride think wolves and lions don’t mix. When both alphas and the male wolves come up missing, it’s up to Dalissa to figure out what’s going on and how to stop the one person set on destroying both packs and dominating the human world. Talk about an adventure!

My review:
Gerri Wilder and her wicked sense of humor is back and she has a match for the ages. Lioness shifter Dalissa has always been told she is less than. By her parents no less. Is it any wonder she wants to get away?  Wolf shifter Azai has she wolves stalking him wanting to be the alpha’s mate but he will settle for nothing less than his true mate. Besides he is too busy for a mate. He has a lion pride moving in next door.
In this fun addition we meet a lot of fun lions and wolves and a great time is guaranteed. I really liked Dalissa and her female empowerment. This is a fun and sexy tale with a bit of mystery thrown in. I loved it.

My Paranormal Valentine by Alyssa Day, Lisa Kessler, Renee George, Abigail Owen, Debra Dunbar, Robyn Peterman and Michelle M. Pillow

My Paranormal Valentine by Alyssa Day, Lisa Kessler, Renee George, Abigail Owen, Debra Dunbar, Robyn Peterman and Michelle M. Pillow

Blurb:
Seven of the top paranormal romance authors writing today have joined together to bring you a set of first-in-series novels to help you celebrate Valentine's Day in style — with your very own paranormal Valentine.

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Alyssa Day: January in Atlantis (Poseidon's Warriors, #1): Flynn's mission may be derailed by a woman who's on the run. Will the heat between them be strong enough to save the day — or burn down the world?

From Amazon Best Selling author Lisa Kessler: Lure of Obsession (Muse Chronicles, #1): Detective Nate Malone has been marked by the gods to protect the Muse of Tragic Poetry. When a killer sets his sights on her, Nate will risk everything to protect her, and tragedy isn't part of his plan...

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Robyn Peterman: Switching Hour (Magic and Mayhem, #1): Released from the magic pokey and paroled with limited power is enough to make any witch grumpy. However, if you throw in a recently resurrected cat, a lime-green Kia and a sexy egotistical werewolf, it's enough to make a gal fly off the edge.
Not to mention a mission...with no freaking directions.
If they think I'm the right witch for the job, they've swallowed some bad brew.

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Michelle M. Pillow: The Mighty Hunter (Lords of the Abyss, #1): The merman may have rescued her from death, but who’s going to rescue her from him? Welcome to the underwater world of Atlantes!

From International Bestselling Author Debra Dunbar: Rogue (Northern Wolves, #2): Sabrina had a hot sexy night with a bear shifter during her wolf pack's annual barbeque — then never heard from him again. Sent to track down a murderous rogue, she's surprised to find herself partnered with Karl — the same bear shifter that has been fueling her fantasies for the last year. Can Sabrina trust a brooding bear shifter with secrets of his own to have her back as well as hold her heart?

From USA Today Bestselling Author Renee George: You've Got Tail (Peculiar Mysteries, #1): Psychic Sunny hightails it to the Missouri Ozarks to find her missing friend Chavvah, only to discover romance with her friend’s younger brother, a kidnapping conspiracy, and a town full of secrets that some will kill to protect.

From Award-Winning Author Abigail Owen: Her Demigod Complex (Legendary Consultants, #1): As an ex-nymph, Lyleia Naiad has the unique ability to resist her boss's demigod-like charms. The man's been breaking hearts for millennia. But Castor Dioskouri shows her a different side — compassionate, dedicated, protective and loyal. And that Castor is nearly impossible to resist. Attending a werewolf mating ceremony together — where the pheromones fly, and so do clothes, inhibitions, and common sense — might be one temptation too many.

My review:
Seven fabulous firsts in a series in one hot collection. Love among the supernatural is magical.
January in Atlantis (Poseidon's Warriors, #1) by Alyssa Day – The first in a spin-off of the Warriors of Poseidon series. Atlantis has risen and Flynn the prodigal son has returned home only to be sent away again on a mission for Poseidon. This is his chance to prove he isn’t the screw up he thinks he is. This is a sexy fun story and a great intro to the new series.
Lure of Obsession (Muse Chronicles, #1) by Lisa Kessler - What would modern day Muses do? What would they look like? And who wants them dead? Find the answers to these and other questions in Lure of Obsession. This is a wonderful romantic suspense with a bit of paranormal thrown in. Melanie is the type of teacher I wanted and Nate needs someone like her in his life.
Switching Hour (Magic and Mayhem, #1) by Robyn Peterman – This is a hilarious laugh out loud romp that will have you giggle-snorting and flipping pages. Zelda learns to believe in herself and learns that it is okay to let people in.
The Mighty Hunter (Lords of the Abyss, #1) by Michelle M. Pillow – Mermen! I loved the concept behind this book and will be checking out this series but my goodness I wanted to slap the whiny out of Bridget.
Rogue (Northern Wolves, #2) by Debra Dunbar – Okay so this is the second in the series but I would have never know. Sabrina is a strong dominant female wolf shifter, Karl is a grumpy bear shifter with a little extra. When these two get together to discover who is killing shifters sparks fly. I really like these two together.
You've Got Tail (Peculiar Mysteries, #1) by Renee George – I love Renee George! This whole series is fantastic. Watching Sunny come into her own was amazing. The laughs and cuteness along the way made this a fun read.
Her Demigod Complex (Legendary Consultants, #1) by Abigail Owen – This story is one of the reasons I love anthologies. I really enjoyed this story of Gods, demigods, nymphs and werewolves. I probably wouldn’t have found this series if not for this anthology. I will certainly be checking out this series.

Jaguar's Mate is a sweet addition to the Crescent Moon series but like the others can be read standalone. I absolutely love Sapphire. Killer Thriller (Ian Ludlow Thrillers #2) by Lee Goldberg

Blurb:
Everybody loves Ian Ludlow’s action novels—especially the CIA—because the spies know something the public doesn’t: his fictional plots have a frightening tendency to come true. Ian is in Hong Kong with his resourceful assistant Margo French to research his wildest story yet—a deadly global conspiracy by Chinese intelligence to topple the United States.

What Ian doesn’t know is that his horrifying scenario is happening and that the Chinese mistakenly believe he’s an undercover superspy assigned to foil their scheme. Now Ian is trapped in his own terrifying thriller, on the run from assassins, and racing against time to prevent an epic disaster. He’s written himself into a corner that could cost his life…and his country.

My review:
Killer Thriller is a fantastic follow-up to True Fiction. It is high energy, clever and tons of fun. I really enjoyed this fast paced, witty romp taken straight from today’s headlines and anxiously await Ian and Margo’s next adventure.

It’s time to get back to the daily grind, and the biggest problem they’re expecting to face: their wedding plans. Then fate strikes—literally—with a bang.

Someone letting loose shots on the common, a murder designed to look like a suicide, and the return of a teacher who made Robin’s childhood hell all conspire to turn this into one of his trickiest cases yet.

Especially when somebody might be targeting their Newfoundland, Campbell. Robin is used to his and Adam’s lives being in danger, but this takes the—dog—biscuit.

My review:
Robin, Adam and Campbell are back in a convoluted new mystery that will keep you guessing. Robin and Adam are as cute as ever. This mystery had so many threads my mind was all in a knot by the time we got to the conclusion. I really enjoy this series and look forward to the next installment.
