Wherever She Goes by Kelley Armstrong

Blurb:
From New York Times bestselling author Kelley Armstrong comes a brand new psychological thriller about the lengths one woman will go to in order to save a child.

“Few crimes are reported as quickly as a snatched kid.”

That’s what the officer tells single mother Aubrey Finch after she reports a kidnapping. So why hasn’t anyone reported the little boy missing? Aubrey knows what she saw: a boy being taken against his will from the park. It doesn’t matter that the mother can’t be found. It doesn’t matter if no one reported it. Aubrey knows he’s missing.

Instead, people question her sanity. Aubrey hears the whispers. She’s a former stay-at-home mom who doesn’t have primary custody of her daughter, so there must be something wrong with her, right? Others may not understand her decision to walk away from her safe life at home, but years of hiding her past – even from the people she loves – were taking their toll, and Aubrey knows she can’t be the mother or wife she envisions until she learns to leave her secrets behind.

When the police refuse to believe her, she realizes that rescuing the boy is up to her alone. But after all the secrets, how far is she willing to go? Even to protect a child.

My review:
Wherever She Goes by Kelley Armstrong is a psychological thriller that tore me up. My heart bled all over the place for Aubrey. This is a fast paced read that will keep you flipping pages to find out what happens next. Kelley Armstrong is a fantastic story teller and has hit another out of the park.

My review:
Bite Club is a delightful addition to the Melanie Travis Mystery series. From the delightful puppy on the cover to the very last page you will be guessing whodunit. Melanie just can’t help but stick her nose in to figure it out and it looks like she’s got Aunt Peg hooked too. I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend the series.

Cowboy in Wolf's Clothing (Seven Range Shifters #2) by Kait Ballenger

Blurb:
Born a cowboy and bred a warrior...
High Commander Colt Cavanaugh has spent his life defending his pack and its sprawling ranchlands. But the hardened Grey Wolf soldier has a dark secret that could destroy his life forever.
Belle Beaumont is a wanted woman, on the run from the wolf pack that kidnapped her. When fate brings her face-to-face with the Grey Wolf High Commander himself, rivalry becomes passion, and suddenly more than just her freedom is at stake.

Seven Range Shifters Series:
Cowboy Wolf Trouble (book 1)
Cowboy in Wolf's Clothing (book 2)

My review:
Cowboy in Wolf's Clothing has it all! Take one cantankerous wolf shifter know as Commander Casanova because one night is all you’ll get from him, add in a sassy rogue wolf shifting doctor, mix well with lies and secrets, then add in some steaming hot chemistry and you’ll have the recipe for Cowboy in Wolf's Clothing. This story is a convoluted tale of two shifters that are meant to be together getting in their own way and boy is it fun to be along for the ride. Though this is part of a series it can be read standalone.

Wolf Instinct (SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team #9) by Paige Tyler

Blurb:
He's a wolf shifter.
She hunts monsters.
How can she be The One for him?

SWAT werewolf Zane Kendrick will do whatever it takes to take down the man who attacked his pack. His search takes him to Los Angeles, but when he meets Alyssa, the smart, sexy agent who comes to his aid, he's immediately interested in pursuing more than just the next lead. All his wolf instincts tell him that she's The One.

FBI agent Alyssa Carson has investigated some weird stuff lately, and finding missing people drained of their blood definitely falls into that category. When following a clue leads her to Zane, she agrees to work with him and his team. She's attracted to the gorgeous Brit, but she doesn't have time for anything but finding answers.

When Zane and Alyssa discover the sinister truth, it'll take everything they have to make it out of this mission with their lives―and hearts―intact.

My review:
Wolf Instinct is a terrific addition to this series. This story opens up a world of possibilities for these characters. I loved that Alyssa is convincing Zane that he isn’t the monster the bad guys are. Sometimes I found myself wanting to Gibbs smack him for his self-loathing. How is he going to love someone else if he doesn’t like himself? The author handled it wonderfully. I love this series and look forward to the next installment.

Burning Daylight (Luke Jensen: Bounty Hunter #7) by William W. Johnstone, J.A. Johnstone

Blurb:
Johnstone Country. Where Legends Fight or Die.

Bounty hunter Luke Jensen has always relied on his guns, his brains, and his guts to bring in the deadliest outlaws in the West. But when a family needs his help, he’ll have to use something else: his heart . . .

BLOOD IS THICKER THAN SLAUGHTER

Luke Jensen has seen some sorry looking bounties in his time, but this one takes the cake. A wanted poster is offering a reward of one dollar and forty-two cents—plus one busted harmonica—to capture Three-Fingered Jack McKinney. Turns out, McKinney’s twelve-year-old son Aaron wants revenge on his daddy for abandoning him and his mom. The reward is all the money Aaron can scrape together. Luke can’t say no to the poor boy—or his beautiful mother—so he agrees to go after McKinney and his bank-robbing gang.

Good deeds, however, are like good intentions—the road to hell is paved with them. And when Aaron McKinney decides to tag along, it puts Luke in the middle of a father-and-son reunion that’s life-or-death, blood-for-blood, and kill-or-be-killed. . . .

Live Free. Read Hard.

My review:
Bounty hunter Luke Jensen is smart, strong and compassionate despite his occasional bout of grumpiness. Red headed, stubborn Aaron is twelve years old going on forty and the best part of the story for me. The story takes us to the Arizonan badlands and some of the nastiest outlaws in the west. This book is filled with action and adventure and a good old time. This book is part of a series but can be read standalone.

Outlaw Wolves (Wolves of Willow Bend Book 13) by Heather Long

Blurb:
She doesn't seem to be anyone's favorite wolf...

Luciana Esposito Barrows never imagined her dream of uniting the Lone Wolves and giving them a home could go so terribly awry. First, her brother rejected her, repudiating her from Seven Hills and leaving her without a powerful ally. Then the U.S. packs put her on notice, monitoring their movements, keeping them contained…then the Russians came. The last person in the world she expected to turn on her, was her own mate.

She was everything to him...

Rayne Barrows never thought of himself as much of a romantic. In his heart, he was a soldier and had always risen to the task where he was needed. Born in the heart of the Delta Crescent pack, he’d grown up alongside a future Alpha and willingly served her father as a faithful Hound. When the battles for ascension began, he couldn’t face those he loved in combat. He chose a solitary path instead. Journeying around the world, he found himself in Italy…and discovered a wolf he could love. Luciana Esposito captured his heart and he followed her—even when he didn’t believe in her cause. Now with a pack in tatters around them and their enemies closing in, Rayne faces his most brutal challenge.

To save the woman he loves and the pack they formed, he challenged her and took her position as alpha. Can their mate bond survive such a betrayal?

My review:
Outlaw Wolves takes us into Three Rivers. This new pack is having growing pains particularly now because their current and former alpha’s are mated and not especially happy with one another. If they don’t get their act together everything they’ve worked for may fall apart.
This story tore me up. I didn’t want to like Luciana. She has been an entitled alpha bitch throughout the series. But I really liked Rayne and he helped me see a side of Luciana that most others don’t get to. This story will take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride that will leave you breathless.
This is part of a series but can be read stand alone

My review:
Seasons in the Abyss! I’ve been so looking forward to Gobeth’s story. This is where the authors can let their imaginations run wild. And they do. Gobeth is smart, strong and unexpectedly sweet. She is going to need the first two attributes to survive her quest and satisfy her opposition among the Sluagh. This story is the first in a sexy fantasy that I am thoroughly enjoying.

Gerri Wilder, the force behind the Paranormal Dating Agency knows that what both Remy and his pride need is his mate.  Genevieve Monroe may be a human but even she knows that sometimes the truth can be forced out by a story. She knows how to work the pole and is proud of who she is. But strippers need love too and most guys can’t handle her profession. As Mercy disappears into the winter hills, something just as foreboding emerges. Mercy’s fiancé, Eagle’s Nest police chief Truman Daly, is faced with a puzzling series of murders—three men dumped in random locations after execution-style shootings.

Now, for Mercy, trapped in a culture where suspicion is second nature, and betrayal is punishable to the extreme, there is no way out. No way to call for help. And as plans for a catastrophic terrorist event escalate, there may be no way to stop them. Even if Mercy dies trying.

My review:
WOW! Mercy goes out with a bang. This is a fast paced nerve wracking action adventure that shows us just how very far Mercy has grown and thank goodness she has something to live for, to keep going for because she will be tested. This is an exciting finale to a fantastic series and I for one will miss Mercy and Truman.

Blurb:
What happens in Vegas…?

Sinclair James wasn’t from my world.

Everything I now realize I needed.
I loved her for six years, her soul, her body, her music.

But now she’s back.

Sinclair is still mine, she just doesn’t know it yet.
This time I’m not letting her go.

So, what happens in Vegas…?

A second chance to repair what was broken.

My review:
Exquisitely Broken is an angsty second chance romance. He is from money she is from the wrong side of the tracks. He was smitten from first glance and convinced her to give it a shot. Then he messed up and she uses it as an excuse to break away even though it breaks her heart. Now four years later she is back in town and not the foster kid he first met. Blurb:
What if a war was taking place under your nose?
Two ancient races locked in a battle for survival.
Which side would you take?

Allegria appears to all to be nothing more than a simple priestess devoted to worship of the sun goddess. Hallow is a masterless apprentice. Deo was meant to save the world and bring the Fireborn and Starborn together in peace.

But then invaders beseiged the land of the Starborn, breaking the prophecy. Now Allegria has fled the priesthood, and wields the power of the sun. Hallow accepts the mantle of leadership he so long avoided. And Deo is tormented and tortured by the power of the invaders, using chaos itself to create an army that will drive the interlopers from the land, and bring about the peace of the Fourth Age.

The three unlikely heroes must learn to trust where there is suspicion, to believe where there is only doubt, and to fight when all hope is lost.

My review:
After a slow start Fireborn takes off and keeps you riveted. This isn’t typical light hearted Katie MacAlister this is epic fantasy. This is trudging through the detritus of war. Dealing with the politics of prophecy and gods. It took me awhile to warm up to the characters but by the end I liked them and wanted to see them succeed. Great world building. Cliff hanger.
