Aroma Holiday (A Nora Black Midlife Psychic Mystery Book 7) by Renee George

Blurb:

My name is Nora Black, and I’m having a very merry messy midlife Christmas!

50’s are the new 40’s and I’m living my best life ever. I may have a few more aches and pains, graying roots, and couple extra pounds, but I also have two quirky best friends who always have my back, business is booming, and my love life has never been better or hotter.

That is until my sweetie Ezra Holden invites me home for Christmas to meet his family.

The season is full of surprises in Ezra’s hometown, like a missing cousin, a case of mistaken identity, and a slew of painful memories—none of them my own.

This Holden Family Holiday should be filled with scents of peppermint, gingerbread, and pine, but all I smell is danger. It turns out my psychic nose really is the gift that keeps on giving.

My review:

Easy and Nora head to his folks for Christmas and of course things don’t go smoothly. There is a reason Easy hasn’t been back for years. Emotions flare and of course danger intrudes but nothing will stop Nora and Easy from having a terrific holiday. I loved how Nora handled Aunt Lorena. Fun, fun, fun.

Midlife Hotspots (Hunting After Forty #1) by Lia Davis & L.A. Boruff

Blurb:

Antique store owner and ostracized paranormal hunter, Blaire Braden lives a quiet small-town life, running her antique shop and minding her business.

The hunter guild gave her the boot thirty years ago when they discovered she was pregnant with a half-shifter baby. Since then, the wolf pack her daughter belongs to has become her extended family, complete with fur, fangs, and claws.

Life is good and drama free.

Until Lachlan James, her baby-daddy, Alpha of the local wolf pack, and a very good friend comes to her for help. One of his wolves is being haunted, and Blair is just the non-hunter for the job. She’s got an affinity for hauntings, despite not technically being a hunter anymore.

Of course, she has to help. It’s not like she has a ton of things to do herself, like selling her antiques, keeping an eye out for cursed objects, and trying to figure out if her shop is being haunted. There are strange things happening, that’s for sure.

She’ll drop everything and help the haunted wolf because that’s the right thing to do.

And Blaire always does the right thing.

My review:

Midlife Hotspots is the first in a spin-off series from the minds that gave you Witching After Forty. Drew’s sister Lily heads to St. Harmony Florida. There she hooks up with Blair a “retired” hunter. Blair is an interesting character that I am looking forward to learning more about. This story is filled with hauntings, angst and a whole lot of fun.

Soulbound Shifters by Riley Storm

Soul Shift, The Wild Moon, As Darkness Falls and Fate Unbound

Soul Shift

I wanted my life to change. But not like this…

The first full moon after my twenty-first birthday should be a special occasion. My wolf will emerge and we’ll run with the pack for the first time. We’ll also become Soulbound, mated to another pack member for life. There’s a lot to look forward to as I move on to the next stage of my life.

But when the time comes for that very first shift, nothing is the way it should be. I’m afraid, and alone, without anyone to support me. A single comment from a vindictive ex about a past I never knew has brought my world crashing down.

I’m going to discover the truth, but first, I have to survive the Soulshift.

The Wild Moon

I’ll do whatever it takes to be free of him.

Eight months ago, my ex-boyfriend decided that if he couldn’t have me, then nobody could. What should have been the best night of my life was ruined. Stripped of friends, my parents, and denied a mate, my Soulshift was a disaster I didn’t see coming.

By now I should have been making my own family, instead I’m still searching for the one he destroyed. Once a month I slink back to my hometown for the Wild Moon. It sucks having to relive everything, but it’s better than being hunted by the pack leader for breaking his rules.

This time though, everything changes. When the Wild Moon finally shows me my mate, my last spark of hope dies. It’s him. The man who destroyed my life. There’s no way I’m letting that happen. Instead I’m leaving town for good, and while I’m at it, I’m going to find my parents. Even if rejecting the bond kills me.

Because anything is better than being Soulbound to him

As Darkness Falls

I should be free. Of him. Of everyone.

But I’m not. I’m still here. I’m still Soulbound. Just not to my ex. Now I’m bound to an ancient shifter god. He’s all I could want in a man. If I’d been allowed to choose him.

That’s not the only change however. I’m stronger. Faster. The others, they look to me for answers. I wish I had them. I’m making everything up as I go along, and I’m not sure what scares me more, the idea I might screw up, or the bigger question, the one that keeps me up at night.

What am I?

But among all the questions, I’ve learned something. The Alpha of my pack is majorly pissed at me. He still thinks he can control me. Only this time he’s going to try and do it by threatening the last person I have left from my old life.

It’s going to be his last mistake.

Fate Unbound

What am I?

The question gnaws at my insides, keeping me up at night. I was never human, not with shifter blood running through my veins. But now I know I’m more than that. I’ve touched magic. Some say I’m a goddess reborn, and that scares me almost as much as not knowing. I don’t want to be that. I want to be me. I want to forge my own destiny, not be forced into one.

But if I want to choose my path, I’ll need to deal with a few problems first. Starting with the god I just robbed who isn’t about to let me go. In fact, he’s sent a whole swarm of demons after me. Then, there’s the insane brother of the god who I’m Soulbound to. Oh, and to top it all off, my old Alpha has found a way to make himself immortal.

Everyone can control their powers, except for me. And it’s about time I changed that. Maybe then I can save my family and have the strength to be with the man I secretly long for. But can I unlock the secret inside of me before time runs out? Because the next Wild Moon is almost here, and when it comes, everything is going to change one last time…

My review:

I got the prequel novella free and was intrigued enough to purchase The Wild Moon and then ended up bingeing the rest of the series, It was an interesting ride and the author is continuing in this world. I am looking forward to Blood & Fangs.

This is a terrific take on the mythos of wolf shifters and a few other paranormals join the saga. I sucked it down like water after a 5k.

The Heretic Royal (The Scarred Earth Saga #3) by G.A. Aiken

Blurb:

In this riveting, feminist tale perfect for fans of Katee Robert and Nalini Singh, two sisters battle for a single throne, warring factions take up arms, a land is divided, and uncertain allies become very certain lovers. With subtle commentary on today’s political polarization, this riveting epic celebrates strong female characters and champions the underdog with diverse, expert world building.

Gods save the queen!

Ainsley Farmerson has always planned to break free of the family business—and the family drama. But what was once farming, smithworking, and bickering over the dinner table has turned into open warfare between sisters. Sides have been taken, lives are on the line, and Ainsley has no doubt which sister must be queen. She’ll do whatever is necessary to take down the soulless Beatrix. Even if that means joining forces with angry battle nuns, irritating monks, and overbearing centaurs.

Gruffyn of the Torn Moon Clan has no time for human beings. And yet . . . there is something about the uncontrollable princess that he can’t ignore. Maybe it’s the way her eldest sisters underestimate her. Or her bravery facing down dragons and mad queens from distant lands. Whatever the reason, Gruff is willing to fight by this human’s side. Not only for the entertainment value, but because she’s right. Beatrix must never be queen. So whatever he has to do, whoever he has to destroy, Gruff will battle beside Ainsley. Fast. Hard. And with absolutely no mercy.

My review:

The Heretic Royal is a smart, funny totally manic romp that will have you thinking, giggle snorting and rooting for the most unlikely heroes. I recommend reading The Blacksmith Queen and The Princess Knight prior or you’ll get lost trying to figure out what in the world is going on. I love that the author brought in characters from her Dragon Kin series to add to the mayhem. Bring on Isadora.

An Alpha Christmas (Rise of the Alpha Book 4) by Julie Morgan

Blurb:

Even the scroogiest Alpha spreads cheer this Christmas.

Lucian Blackcrown finally has it all—a great life, his fated mate, his brother back at his side, what more could he ask for?

When Christmas Eve arrives, he’s asked to pose as Santa for his nephew, and he agrees, despite his lackluster feelings for the holiday. He even goes so far as to climb atop the house and stomp around, much to the delight of his nephew. With Mrs. Claus by his side, he brings the magic alive and his family is moved by his gift.

When New Year’s morning arrives, will there be one more unexpected gift for this Alpha?

My review:

This is a holiday gift for the fans of this series. Grumpy Alpha Lucian is putty in his mates hands. She has him dressing up to play Santa for his nephew and considering a future out from under the specter of his past. Sweet and sexy fun.

The Christmas Deal (Festive Fakes #1) by Keira Andrews

Blurb:

Will fake boyfriends become the real deal this holiday?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year—except ex-Marine Logan is jobless and getting evicted. Worse, he’s a new single dad with a stepson who hates him. A kid needs stability—not to mention presents under the tree—and Logan’s desperate.

Then he meets lonely Seth and makes a deal.

Can Logan temporarily pretend to be live-in boyfriends to increase Seth’s chances at a promotion? If it provides a roof over their heads for the holidays, hell yeah. Logan considers himself straight—he doesn’t count occasional hookups with guys—but he can fake it. Besides, with his shy little smile, Seth is surprisingly sexy.

Make that damn sexy.

Shocked that Seth has only been with one man, Logan can’t resist sweetening their deal to teach him the joys of casual sex. No strings attached. No feelings. No kissing.

No falling for each other.

Easy, right?

The Christmas Deal is a steamy holiday gay romance from Keira Andrews featuring fake boyfriends, bisexual awakening, a clueless single dad with an angry preteen, and of course a happy ending.

My review:

The Christmas Deal is a sweet fake boyfriend tale that will make you believe in love. Seth and Logan’s path to each other is rocky but worth the journey.

The Santa Trial by Tess Thompson

Blurb:

Neither Ryan nor Rena is thrilled to be called for jury duty. He’s a widower with a small daughter who needs him. She’s a struggling single woman who can’t afford to miss a day’s pay. But when the two spot each other across the courtroom, suddenly jury duty doesn’t seem like such a burden after all.

Together with their fellow jurors, they must decide the fate of a defendant who believes that he’s Santa. It’s a seemingly unromantic task for two infatuated strangers, but love could find a way with a little help from the magic of Christmas.

Like a stocking stuffed with all the special treats of the season, this novella is as sweet as sugar plums and as satisfying as a batch of cookies fresh from the oven.

My review:

One of my favorite Christmas time movies is Miracle on 34th Street this story has all the feels of that movie. This is a sweet, feel-good tale of love and the meaning of the season.

The Cat's Meow (Shifting Into Midlife #3) by L.A. Boruff, Lia Davis, Lacey Carter Andersen

The Cat's Meow (Shifting Into Midlife #3) by L.A. Boruff, Lia Davis, Lacey Carter Andersen

Blurb:

Discovering I'm a shifter was just the beginning of the chaos. Now my family is on the line.

I've learned a ton since my quiet world faded into oblivion. Bunnies bite, werewolves are real, and my daughter and I are shifters. Do I miss the boring certainty of my ordinary old life? You bet I do.

However, now I have a whirlwind of friends, neverending experiences with the incredible, and some pretty perfect moments with a handsome guy who likes to turn into a fire-breathing monster occasionally. No, really. That's not a euphemism. He's a dragon shifter.

I just wish my exciting new life hadn't come with such a high price. My daughter's alpha is pure evil, wielding control over the most powerful pack in our little town. When Andy says jump, the entire pack asks how high, including my daughter, because she's compelled to. Whatever Andy wants, he gets.

Right now he wants blood and chaos. If we can't find a way to stop him, my daughter's freedom will be gone, and our peaceful little town will fall into ruins.

How do I save her and everyone else?

By becoming someone I never imagined. Someone I don't want to be. And the scariest part of all is that once I change, I might never be able to change back.

Don't miss the thrilling conclusion to the captivating Paranormal Women's Fiction Shifting Into Midlife Trilogy. It all happens here.

My review:

A satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. We find out a whole lot more about the bad guy and in doing so Bethany learns more about herself. This adventure brings out the momma bear (dragon} in Bethany and nobody will ever be the same.

With time running out and a possible hangover holding them back, it will take all the resources of this unlikely trio to thwart the bad guys and win the day.

Find out what happens in the next adventures where all’s fair when it comes to winning—even if it takes a little alien ingenuity.

My review:

Bongo & Delilah Crash Cassadaga is the smart, hilarious follow up to Bongo & Delilah Break Daytona. Bongo, Delilah, and Billy Bob take their show on the road and collect some friends and enemies along the way. We learn more about each of our little gang and I admit the more I discover the more I like and the more I want to know. Highly recommend this series.

Need You Around (Men of Manifold #4) by S.A. Price

Blurb:

Dustin Averin, lead guitarist for Manifold and crown prince of the European Kirata community, has been ignoring the call home by his queen for longer than he’d care to remember. His purpose, to sire the next generation of Kirata with a willing female, is the furthest thing from his mind. Dustin’s cat isn’t interested in anyone, and unless he has a pure mating, one where he actually wants to be with the woman in question, he is content to be alone, play in the band, and wait.

When a chance meeting at a music conference leaves him hurting and broken from a woman he didn’t even expect, his interest is piqued, as well as his cat’s. It is rare that he's even perked up in the past few years, but this one….

It’s just too bad she’s not Kirata, and she didn’t leave him any contact information.

Things are changing for Dustin, with a new sponsorship with Trouble Hardware and the new tour sending things in the right direction. Dustin’s belief in the product gets him a lot of perks, including getting some prototypes from the company hand-delivered.

Hand-delivered by the sexy as hell woman that broke several of his ribs at the conference.

Thrown back together by fate, Dustin’s interest in Asha grows…and hers stalls until realizations come to light that neither can deny.

My review:

I’d waited a long time for this one got it and then it got buried under my TBR. I finally got to readd it and could kick myself for waiting so long. This is a terrific addition to the series. Dustin is a good guy with a “tiger mom” whom he disappoints by not following her every dictate. But when it comes to marriage he has seen what he doesn’t want right at home and is determined to avoid an arranged marriage at all costs.

I loved Dustin and Asha’s story. It was well worth the wait. Bring on Ewan.

Size Matters: Mignolina Colorado Mafia by K.R. Hall

 Blurb:

Maria Pollicina wished for a child for many years. Out of desperation, she tried artificial insemination. At long last Maria had a baby girl whom she named Tommelise.

Francesco was fifteen when Maria came to work for his family. She was a great maid for him. Sometimes Maria brought her young daughter Tommelise with her. He is five years older than Tommelise and watched her blossom into a beautiful young woman.

Tommelise starts working as a bartender at the young age of twenty-two. One cold autumn night, her car wouldn’t start after her shift. One of her regulars Mrs. Tudse, who looked like a toad, offered her a ride home. But Tommelise never makes it home.

She is kidnapped by one family after another—each person wanting something out of her. From being a slave to wanting a marriage, Tommelise cannot get away to return to her mother and the life she was taken from.

Out of Desperation to get Tommelise back, Maria goes to Francesco Mignolina, the man who she works for help. Furious to learn that Tommelise is missing, Francesco sends Efron Fugl to search for her. Efron delivers the bad news that Tommelise is to be married to Bayard Muldvarp.

Since his father is pressuring him to marry and take over the family Francisco decides he needs to act fast. He wants Tommelise to be his wif’e, not someone else’s. He needs to stop Bayard Muldvarp from marrying Tommelise, and he will start a war if he has to.

My review:

Tommelise may be small but she has a big influence on those around her. She is aware of how people dismiss her because of her diminutive stature and determined not to allow it.

This is an interesting story of an impressive young woman and her struggles to be seen as more than her size. A tale of romantic suspense with an interesting hero.

Little Cakes is a sweet and satisfying series, but dare to taste only if you like delicious Daddies, luscious Littles, and guaranteed happily-ever-afters.

My review:

As sweet as the cupcake it’s named for! Rose has the adult dream job for a little. She runs a place where people can make and dress their own stuffies. Sadly she has yet to make one for herself. Sleighing in the Midlife (Fanged After Forty Book 7) by Lia Davis & L.A. Boruff

Sleighing in the Midlife (Fanged After Forty Book 7) by Lia Davis & L.A. Boruff

Blurb:

Luke Whitfield is getting pretty sick and dang tired of everyone thinking he can’t handle a few simple human skips.

Okay, yeah, he messed up a couple. And that one time an elderly lady got the drop on him, but everyone screws up in the beginning, right?

It’s time for Luke to branch out on his own and when Jordan sends a skip to the Bond Girls agency and nobody is there to take it, Luke decides he’s going to prove once and for all that he’s got what it takes.

The skip? Oh, no big deal. It’s just Santa.

Nicholas Clauson robbed a bank wearing a Santa suit.

Hello, Hollywood? Is this the setup for a new Christmas movie, or what?

Because this is Luke we’re talking about, nothing is going to be straightforward.

He grabs Ransom for some extra muscle and off they go to take down Ol’ Saint Nick.

Nicholas’s apartment is not what they expected. Especially when they walk into a closet and step out in Nar—err, The North Pole.

Yep. The North Pole. Snow, elves, reindeer, fabulous shopping.

Luke’s got this in stride, though. Santa’s being blackmailed by his cousin Krampus? No problem. He’s a Bond Girl now. With Ransom by his side, he can figure out anything and take down anybody. Even evil elves.

Except for tights. He’s not wearing tights. Not again.

My review:

This one is for the fans. This is a quick romp featuring all the humor and magic you expect with an extra portion of delight just for the holidays.

Blurb:

*Contains trigger warnings*

One person dead
One alive
Both have one thing in common
a pendant.

The body count continues to rise.
Will the latest victim be the last
with the help from the past?

My review:

This book features a creepy sexual predator  and two women connected by a pendant and  the serial killer. I’m not a fan of horror but I’ve read and enjoyed this author before so gave it a shot. I was horrified by the killer and rooting for his capture. Keep the lights on and enjoy if creepy killers are your thing.
