The Case of the Voracious Vintner (The Middlemark Mysteries #2) by Tara Lain

Blurb:
Where Bo Marchand comes from, gay men are just confirmed bachelors who never found the right girl. But now Bo’s a successful winemaker on the central coast of California, supporting his whole damned Georgia family, and all he really wants is the beautiful, slightly mysterious Jeremy Aames.

Jeremy’s vineyard is under threat from Ernest Ottersen, the voracious winemaker who seems to know all Jeremy’s blending secrets and manages to grab all his customers. Bo tries to help Jeremy and even provides a phony alibi for Jeremy when Ottersen turns up dead in Jeremy’s tasting room. But it’s clear Jeremy isn’t who he claims, and Bo must decide if it’s worth tossing over his established life for a man who doesn’t seem to trust anyone. When Jeremy gets kidnapped, some of the conservative winemakers turn out to be kinky sex fiends, and the list of murderers keeps dwindling down to Jeremy. Bo has to choose between hopping on his white horse or climbing back in his peach-pie-lined closet.

My review:
I loved the mystery, the twists and turns, and the attraction between Jeremy and Bo. I liked catching up with Blaise and Llewellyn from The Case of the Sexy Shakespearean. I loved Jeremy although I wanted to cry about his backstory. I liked Bo well enough but I’ve lived in Georgia for over 30 years and have never met anyone who speaks like Bo. He was a caricature, a bad stereotype and I’m afraid it spoiled the story for me just a bit.

One Tough Cowboy (Moving Violations #1) by Lora Leigh & Veronica Chadwick

One Tough Cowboy (Moving Violations #1) by Lora Leigh & Veronica Chadwick

Blurb:
First in a brand-new series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Lora Leigh and Veronica Chadwick about one man’s pursuit of justice—and unbridled desire.

LAW AND ORDER.
For as long as Samantha can remember, Hunter—a man as strong as steel, with a heart of gold—has been her hero. It came as no surprise to Samantha when she found out that the ranch-hardened cowboy who always protected her from bullies went on to become the town’s sheriff. What does surprise her is how incredibly hot he still is. And how much she still wants him…

PRIDE AND PASSION

And, lo and behold, Hunter still has feelings for Samantha. The long-smoldering heat of their innocent flirtation has grown into a full-raging fire. But when tragedy strikes, and their small-town community is shattered, Hunter vows to do everything he can to keep his childhood sweetheart safe. But can Samantha trust that Hunter has her best interests at heart…and that, after all these years, his love is true?

My review:
Cowboy loving and romantic suspense. This book has it all. Hot cowboy sheriff falls for a pest from the past. Sam has grown up and she is smart and sassy and she hits all the buttons for Hunter. This is a sharp and sexy story that will leave you limp. Bring on Jacob’s story.

Dead as a Door Knocker (House-Flipper Mystery #1) by Diane Kelly

Blurb:
The first in a brand-new cozy series from Diane Kelly set in Nashville--where the real estate market is to die for.

WILL THIS KILLER DEAL LEAD TO A DEAD END?
Meet Whitney Whitaker. A hopeless romantic when it comes to real estate, she knows what it takes to find--and flip--the home of one's dreams. A fixer-upper is like catnip to Whitney: she can't resist the challenge of turning an eyesore into a priceless work of art. So when one of her clients decides to liquidate a crumbling property, Whitney seizes the opportunity to purchase it for a song. But soon a curious incident of the cat in the night-time leads to a change in tune. . .

Sawdust is the name of Whitney's cat--of course. Whitney's passion for gut-renovation may be a mystery to him but one thing Sawdust knows for sure is this: Dead bodies don't belong in flower beds. So why is there one in this new, albeit old, house? Now it's up to Whitney, along with the help of hot-and-cold Nashville Police Detective Collin Flynn, to find the truth about what happened before the mortgage property forecloses and Whitney loses her investment. . .and maybe her own life.

My review:
The first in a delightful new cozy mystery series by Diane Kelly Dead as a Door Knocker is a total winner with terrific characters and a cute as can be cat named Sawdust. I like that Whitney Whitaker is a woman in a male dominated field who holds her own and is comfortable in her own skin. I truly enjoyed this and look forward to future installments.

Kissing the Suspect (Mystical Melvilles Book 1) by Kimberly Frost

Blurb:
Callie sees the future. The universe expects her to deal with it...

Callie Melville doesn't know the first thing about solving crimes. Especially one that hasn't happened yet.

Callie's a Melville storm survivor. Her family has a history of being struck by lightning, only to wake with mystical powers. Now a premonition leads Callie to the prime suspect in the upcoming abduction of a pretty teenager. At first the sizzling chemistry between Callie and the attractive ex-Marine makes investigating him easier, but the more personal things get, the higher the stakes become.

Add in a massive mutt with bad manners, a nasty new police chief who’s gunning for her, and an irrepressible octogenarian, and life has become pretty complicated. Will she rescue the teen girl in time? Or will Callie become a casualty of the vision herself?

No one ever said being a Melville was easy.

My review:
Kissing the Suspect is a laugh out loud romp that will have you believing in the impossible. Callie and Rufus are adorable and Brink is a mountain worth climbing.  For a fun escape I highly recommend. I look forward to more in this series.

The Alpha's Chase by Milly Taiden & Marianne Morea

Blurb:
Cecily Montgomery can’t believe the terms of her father’s will. Marry within a year and produce an heir, or lose everything. The pressure is on to find a hot young stud who’ll help her out with a couple of orgasms that will lead to an offspring. Easy peasy, right? Where’s the vodka when she needs it?

Chase Villarreal isn’t looking for marriage, but when the sexiest woman he’s ever laid eyes on needs rescuing, he finds himself saying ‘I do’. She’s a handful and totally out of his league, but none of that matters because now she’s his.

When danger comes calling and his wife’s life is at risk, Chase is ready to show anyone he’ll protect what’s his. But will Cecily give up her for fortune for a lifetime with him or will terror strike before they get to their happily ever after?

My review:
Smart, curvy and alpha Puma shifter Cecily Montgomery is forced by the draconian terms of her fathers will to marry and get with child within a year of his death or lose it all. If her wicked stepmother and her son wouldn’t benefit she would say screw it all but those creeps don’t deserve a nickel of her fathers legacy. While bemoaning her fate she meets hunky bar owner Chase Villarreal. One thing leads to a Vegas wedding and a Colorado countryside honeymoon.
This is a sexy escape. Check your brain at the door and enjoy Chase and Cecily getting to know each other. This is a smoking hot series of unfortunate events that will leave you sweaty and with a smile on your face.

Dragon's Curvy Patient (Dragon's Curvy Romance #4) by Mychal Daniels

Blurb:
“Cole… bae, are you my bae?” she asked with an obvious struggle to form words. “Can I ride on your back naked, like in that strength picture?”
“What?” He stopped himself realizing her concussion was showing its handy work. He leaned back to break her spell before adding, “Maybe later, after we get you back on your feet.”
Time for a reset.
Sabra Patterson has bitten off more than she can chew. After a legal miscalculation, Sabra’s kiddie-pageant hairstyling company has failed. She’s been social media shamed and facing bankruptcy—at the tender age of twenty-eight!
When a desperate Sabra Patterson asks her best friend to do an Oracle reading, little does she know that the wheels of destiny start to spin.
She’s facing the cataclysmic collapse of her business. Determined to regroup and rebuild herself by following her true passion, Sabra is talked into giving a speech that forever changes the course of her life.
Sabra Patterson can’t believe the tall sexiness wearing the Sour Patch Kids face has the nerve to approach her. After a night of scowling and doing everything to ignore her, this guy is trying to be kind and helpful? She’s got work to do. He’s offering to help, and she’s calling his bluff.
Sabra isn’t ready for the sucker punch fate throws her way. When she falls, both literally and figuratively, under the care of this Doctor, her life is turned upside down. Will Sabra be able to resist the charms of the sexy doctor to return to her plan to build her new company? Or, will she succumb to forces so powerful they promise to rewrite the fundamental definition of who she is?

Family duty and honor rule his way.
Doctor Colson Kelnar is the even-tempered, self-controlled one of the Kelnar Dragons. No brute force, macho man Dragon tactics for him. No, he’s refined and has life under control.
His private medical services company’ success has grown to the point where he’s able to spend his time raising his young daughter and fulfilling family social obligations. That’s what he’s attempting to do when fate hooks him into the pursuit of his heart’s greatest treasure.
Sabra Patterson is that rare jewel that knocks Colson off his perfect equilibrium. She’s an independent spirit who has no problem proclaiming that she does what she wants. How can he not do everything in his power to claim her? She’s his perfect mate.
Desperate times call for drastic measures. When the mating thrall throws him off his usual self-disciplined game, Colson has to re-evaluate his idea of how to woo his mate. After a few failed attempts, his Dragon is pissed, and he’s desperate enough to take advice from a werewolf! There isn’t anything he won’t do to win her heart.
Unable to think of anything but winning his mate, he must rely on the wisdom of his Dragon to guide him through. With his hunger for his mate growing exponentially and an inability to have an appetite for anything but her, will Colson finally get Sabra to accept him as her mate, or will he be doomed to the fate of a shell of himself?

My review:
Dragon's Curvy Patient is a cerebrally sexy shifter romance. Voluptuous Sabra Patterson is at a crossroads in her life when her business goes under and she meets dragon shifter, single father Doctor Colson Kelnar who is flabbergasted to find that she is his destined mate. Now all he has to do is figure out how to convince the independent woman she is meant for him. The chase is exhausting and wonderful. The surrender sublime. I am looking forward to seeing Chloe and Tilar find their happiness as well.

Loving the Monster Within by Cassidy K. O'Connor

Blurb:
Penelope Harbough has dedicated her life to her job at a home for battered women and children. With such a stressful and heartbreaking job, she finds her solace in the arms of Frank - a gargoyle statue that sits atop her building watching over the city. She spills her heart to him daily while watching the sun rise.

Asald sold his soul for the woman he loved. After upsetting the prince of Hell, he is cursed to become the monster he feared was inside him. To make up for some of the guilt, he takes it upon himself to protect the women of the shelter. A vigilante. A modern day winged Robin Hood, of sorts. Until he's forced to reveal himself...

Love trapped him but can it save him, too? When Penelope learns the truth, will she run screaming or will love prevail?

My review:
Some things don’t change with time. The ability to love and the ability to do harm have existed across the ages. Humans can be the most monstrous of beings and that hasn’t changed. Asald sold his soul for love and was cursed for angering the demon who held his leash for centuries. Penny sees the results of human monsters every day at work at the womens shelter and still manages to keep a loving heart. When these two meet the definition of monster may change for you as well.
This is a really sweet tale that will leave you with a happy heart.

My review:
Action, adventure and love! A great addition to the Redemption Harbor series Covert Games gives Leighton his happy in the form of their enemy’s niece. I liked that Lucy wasn’t kick a$$ but she was no shrinking violet either and she made the guy with the sad eyes smile. This is romantic suspense at its best.

Blurb:

Slim and dainty, she has the heart of a lion, and when angry, the manners of a she-cat. She questions whether they should be working together, especially after he shoots her, and not accidentally. My review
WOW!: This latest installment in the Mercy Kilpatrick series will keep you guessing right up until the very end. Truman may have rubbed the rough edges off Mercy but she is still sharp as a tack. Blurb:

Queen Verity has decreed that Blutfeuer, Nymea’s family wineries and distilleries, branch out into the human realm, in order to bring more revenue into their new vision of Faerie. Nymea is ready and able, though she is going forward grudgingly.

But with new opportunities comes mysteries and provocations that Nymea and her guard are not prepared to handle. Flying blind through the world of corporate espionage wasn’t on the docket for their next phase but it seems nothing is ever cut and dry or easy.
And it’s going to take all their cunning and resources to make this transition as bloodless as possible.

My review:
OMG! Princess Verity of the Sleeping Court is now Queen of Faerie and making changes. She has encouraged Princess Nymea Blut of the Blood Court to expand her business into the human realm. But someone doesn’t want her to succeed and is sabotaging her efforts. This book has us mourning the loss of Nymea’s guards, tightening the bonds of her remaining guards (break out the ice water) and finding a way forward. Perfect Match by A.G. Meiers

Blurb:
Secrets can derail even the most powerful attraction.

Logger Sven Larson has never found a man worth publicly coming out of the closet for. But his family has other plans. As a thirtieth birthday gift, his mother hires the online dating service Perfect Match to find Sven the love of his life. To say Sven isn't thrilled is an understatement, but it's too late to cancel, and Jayden Calver arrives.

Perfect Match's success rate is unsurpassed, but they don't come by it honestly: if a client can't be matched, the agency uses a stand-in to fulfil their guarantee and protect their profit.

Tough luck has left Jayden in debt, and playing Perfect Match's deceptive game is his only option. So he travels — sparkling toenails and all — to a remote camp deep in the mountains to meet Sven Larson and pretend to be his perfect match for a few days.
Sven
Sparks fly on first contact. But as the two men get closer, Sven grows more and more suspicious of Jayden, and Jayden struggles with guilt over his deceit. They both want a future together, but first they must find the courage to be honest with themselves and each other.

My review:
m/m
Opposites attract in this entertaining tale of the lumberjack and the city boy. Sven is a logger and author who receives his “Perfect Match” for his 3oth birthday from his nosey but loving family. Jayden is a city boy in financial trouble and is offered a way out by playing “Perfect Match” for Sven for ten days. Neither intended to fall for each other they just needed to get through it. It was fun watching them find their way into each others arms and hearts. I liked that they argued like adults.
I enjoyed this story. The ending is worth the read. I look forward to more Perfect Matches.

Keeping the love alive when you are working night and day is really tough. This story takes us along as Caleb and Wednesday figure out what it takes to get through the hard times together. Challenges

The first quarter of this year I will be facing some health challenges that will force me to cut back on my reading. Before you recommend audio I will say that I will try but I’ve found that unless it’s a road trip I can’t concentrate on an audio. I will be posting as many reviews as I can but I am afraid they won’t be almost daily at least until after I see the specialist in March. It’s nothing life threatening but I will be facing challenges. I hope you will stick by me and enjoy the reviews I manage to post.

Evidence of Desire (Courting Justice #2) by Lexi Blake

Blurb:
A fast-paced contemporary romance that sizzles from the New York Times bestselling author of Order of Protection where passion for the law isn't the only thing heating up the courtroom.

Isla Shayne knows she's in over her head. As former all-star linebacker Trey Adams's personal lawyer, she's used to handling his business dealings and private financial matters, not murder charges. She needs to find an experienced criminal attorney who speaks her client's language. David Cormack of Garrison, Cormack and Lawless is exactly what she needs in the courtroom--and the only man she wants in the bedroom.

For David, taking on the Adams case means diving back into a world he thought he'd left behind and colliding head on with tragic possibilities he's in no mood to face. There's a reason professional football is in his past and no matter how close Isla gets to the truth he intends to leave it there.

But long days working on the case together lead to hot nights in each other's arms. As their feelings grow, the case takes a deadly twist that could change the game between the two lovers forever.

My review:
Evidence of Desire is a smart and sexy contemporary story of mystery and romance. Criminal defense attorney David Cormack takes on a case that cuts close to home but it doesn’t stop him from falling for business attorney Isla Shayne. I loved Isla. She is smart, strong and goes for what she wants. Watching these two solve a crime and fall in love was truly enjoyable. Though this is part of a series it can be read stand alone.
