Her Rogue Alpha (X-Ops #5) by Paige Tyler

Blurb:
HE'LL DO ANYTHING FOR HER
Former Special Forces Lieutenant Jayson Harmon can't believe that his war scars don't matter to beautiful feline shifter Layla Halliwell. Why would she saddle herself with a broken man?

But Layla knows that Jayson is a hero to the core, and that only she can heal his wounded soul. So when Jayson is deployed on another deadly mission, no way is Layla staying behind...

My review:
This one tore my heart out. Former Special Forces Lieutenant Jayson Harmon is a wounded war hero. He fell for feline shifter Layla Halliwell at his best friend’s wedding to her sister. He is working at the DCO range but Layla is working towards becoming a field agent. He feels less and less worthy of her to the point where he is making bad decisions. Fortunately he has people looking out for him and protecting him from himself. Jayson’s ego is wrapped around his body’s ability to perform he is forced to learn on an accelerated scale what most elder folks have. That the parts may be worn but they still have worth. As with any X-Ops book there is action and intrigue and love. Her Rogue Alpha may just be the best in this series yet.
