Vykor (Star-Crossed Alien Mail Order Brides #9) by Susan Hayes

Blurb:
Looking for love on all the wrong planets? Try the Star-Crossed Dating Agency.

Born without a dragon’s spirit, Vykor has no magic, no clan, and no reason to stay on his home planet of Romak.

He’s come to Earth to research old legends – and maybe even find acceptance.

This book contains an executive assistant in need of assistance, and a researcher who is about to discover that love doesn’t come with instructions.

My review:
In this installment of the Star-Crossed Alien Mail Order Brides we get Vykor and Lily’s story. Lily was brought up with an abusive father and step-brother. She is now a part of an organization finding refuge for battered women. She is much stronger than she gives herself credit for. Vykor was raised in the church as an unwanted orphan. He went through hell and is more than willing to help abused women and children relocate. When these two meet it is under dangerous conditions but they are perfect for each other and I loved watching them work things out. Another sweet and sexy tale from Susan Hayes

Fan Mail: An Aspen Adams Novel of Suspense by Daryl Wood Gerber

Blurb:
An adoring fan and a string of murders: a demented show of love that leaves no one safe . . .

Local celebrity news anchor Gloria Morning is used to receiving declarations of love and praise in her weekly fan letters, but when a Lake Tahoe doctor is murdered and she gets an anonymous note telling her it was done for her glory, her appreciation turns to panic. Unsure of where else to turn, she enlists the help of novice private investigator Aspen Adams. No sooner does Aspen begin digging into who sent the macabre note than another murder occurs, followed by another note, and she soon realizes she’s up against a ruthless and deranged killer.

Working with scant clues and a puzzling array of potential suspects, Aspen is determined to unearth the elusive connection between the victims and her client. But as the body count grows and the murderer remains a mystery to both her and the police, Aspen discovers she’s gotten closer to the killer than she ever imagined, and now she must risk everything she holds dear to stop the killings, including her own life . . .

My review:
Aspen Adams has her hands full. She is a former therapist turned private investigator, she is guardian to her 14 year old niece and is in love with a homicide detective that she butts heads with often during her investigation. There are plenty of suspects for a string of murders claiming to be “for the glory of…” Aspen’s client local celebrity news anchor Gloria Morning. This story is filled with twists and turns and lots of false leads but comes to a satisfying conclusion. Fan Mail is the second in the series and is enjoyed more if you’ve read Desolate Shores the first book in the series but can be read standalone.

Wild Heat (An Untamed Love Novel) by Bella Blake, Elaina Jadin

Blurb:
A dangerous wildfire, two scorching hot men, and miles of remote wilderness…

When I escape my soul-sucking corporate job to take a hiking trip in the mountains, all I’m expecting is to unplug and unwind. No business. No internet. No distractions. Just me, soaking in the quiet, scenic beauty of nature.

The universe has other ideas.

First, there’s my back-country guide, Chase. He’s expertly skilled and devastatingly handsome, with piercing eyes, toned muscles, and a smoldering, flirty smile that completely disarms me.

Then, Chase’s identical twin brother, Hugh—a hunky, tough-as-nails skydiving firefighter—crash lands near us in the middle of the night when a severe wildfire breaks out.

The blaze sweeps through the mountains with terrifying speed, driving us deeper into the wilderness. Fortunately, these rugged men know this land like the back of their hands. It’s isolated, untamed, and dangerous, just the way they like it.

But they aren’t prepared for me—or the intense heat simmering between us.

As the raging fire closes in, the twins vow to protect me at all costs, but the forest isn’t the only thing going up in flames.

Being trapped has never felt so good, but can I survive this perilous journey with my life—and heart—intact?

My review:
Hot! Hot! Hot! Wild Heat introduces us to a back-country guide, Chase and his twin brother skydiving firefighter Hugh and Megan a marketing consultant who works too hard and plays too little. These three get together under extreme conditions and bring out the best in them all. This is a sexy thrill ride that will make you sweat.

Ivory (The Manhattan Ten Series) by Lola Dodge

Blurb:

That cold day in hell? It’s here…

Manhattan Ten, Book 1

If Ivory’s fellow flight attendants whisper that she has ice in her veins, they’d be right. She’s spent years ruthlessly suppressing her dangerous ice powers, pretending she didn’t grow up wild on the tundra.

Her legendary coolness has held solid—until a crazed attacker snaps her composure, unleashing her ice beast and blowing her cover. And she’s not sure if the man who defuses the situation is any less dangerous.

When Panther’s trans-Atlantic catnap is interrupted by Ivory’s ice spear through his mark’s gut, he doesn’t hesitate to claim her as one of the Manhattan Ten. It’s the only way to shield her from prosecution. It doesn’t hurt that the Nordic beauty puts his inner cat on the prowl.

Panther tempts Ivory in every smoldering way, but to let him melt her resistance is a risk she can’t afford. But when her past rises up to claim her, Pan is caught in the crossfire…and the only way to save him is to let the beast claim her, body and soul.

Product Warnings
Contains one smoldering ice vixen and the sexy beast man who wants to get his claws all over her. Make sure your icemaker is in tip-top shape before reading. Mukluks optional.

My review:
This book tells the tale of Ivory an ice princess as she reluctantly takes her place among the Manhattan Ten a group of super heroes. This was a fast paced super fun story and I enjoyed watching the byplay between Ivory and Jag. I look forward to reading the others stories as well.

Elf King (The Crystal Kingdom #2) by Milly Taiden

Blurb:
Avery Lotusmist, a pro gamer, went on a camping trip to celebrate her friend's birthday and ended up kidnapped. Maybe? Avery thinks she's really in a dream-like video game simulation. The catch? In order to wake up and go home, she has to beat every level! This is gonna be awesome. Being sucked into a game was great way to test her skills. Unless it's not really a game. But it has to be, right?

Tylen Wyndove, Elf King, has a whole kingdom to keep safe. When he saves the most beautiful woman he's ever seen at a slave market, he realizes he's in big trouble. He knows he's found the woman he wants and no wizard, orc or legend will take his mate. And his shifter fully, one-hundred percent agrees. He has no idea what a video game or levels are, but he’s really glad that Avery is as in love with him as he is her.

Avery's levels get harder by the second. Meet the sexiest man at a slave auction: Check. Marry said sexy man, who's also the Elf King: Check. Fake seduce a madman to save a bunch of people: Check. Wear a crown that won't come off her head: Double check. Realizing you're not stuck in a video game and you are in love with the Elf King: Say what?

My review:
Pro gamer Avery Lotusmist kicks butt in the virtual world but in reality she is just a little bit spoiled. When her reality is shaken up and she ends up in a different dimension things get really interesting really fast. Avery is smart and kicka$$. It took me a little longer to warm up to the sexy elf king Tylen but as he woos Avery he stole my heart too. Another sweet and sexy tale from Milly Taiden

The Gift: Pleasure Times Four by Candace Blevins

Blurb:
Pleasure Times Four
Kieran and Gwen are powerful Strigorii vampires who’ve been married over three and a half centuries. Their Master Vampire, Abbott, realizes the couple is on the eve of dissolving their marriage, but no one wants to see their long-time romantic partnership break up. Abbott hopes the gift of a shared blood servant who happens to be a trained bodyguard can solve several problems in one solution. With the coming war so close, he needs to take steps to protect the couple who manage his vast fortune. If the former slave can also help them find common ground and rekindle their romance? Even better.

Ajax was abducted from foster care as a small child and raised as a slave. Chosen for his size, he was forced into hard physical labor to create a huge, intimidating physique. His original Vampire Master had the slave trained to be his personal bodyguard, and Ajax excels at it. When Abbott took over the territory, he tried letting Ajax work for Drake Security, but the werewolf was miserable.

How can a swan possibly fit into this? Arabella’s mother sold her eggs to the traffickers, and the swanling was hatched into slavery. When the Swan Queen took over the crown, she tried to award Arabella her freedom, but it never took. Surprisingly, it’s possible the little swan might be the glue that holds everything together.

Our story starts on one Christmas and ends on the next. A lot can happen in a year.

My review:
The Gift asks the question what constitutes freedom? Are we ever free from our past? What is the greatest gift to a slave? For Ajax freedom means being in control of his mind and gaining control of his wolf. For Arabella it means having someone care for her in every way. For Kieran and Gwen it means keeping their marriage strong even after 350 years. But the greatest gift any of them can receive is the gift of family. This is a sweet and kinky tale that will leave you with a holiday glow.

Blurb:
Former Marine, Vanessa Templar, never considered being security for a metal band as an alternative career choice, but as a favor to a friend, she takes the job with XVI Hours. How much trouble could a bunch of musicians get in anyway?

The answer? A lot.

But the biggest challenge is an unknown enemy—which means working with the strangely alluring computer geek, Oakley. They must unravel the dangerously tangled web that surrounds both XVI Hours and the headlining band, Winter’s Wrath.

Secrets tear him apart but the sacrifices he made to protect those most important to him cannot be undone. He won’t put his loved ones at risk, especially not North Beauregard, the man who was supposed to break his heart.

Instead, Tate crushed his.

As lead vocalist of XVI Hours, North has a reputation as a playboy who considers commitment as desirable as the plague. He shouldn’t have any trouble replacing Tate, and yet he can’t move on. He can fight to survive but until now, has never loved anyone enough to do so.

My review:
Off Beat (Winter's Wrath Book 4) by Bianca Sommerland will take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride that will leave you breathless and wanting the next book in the series ASAP. The author has a way of sucking you in, grabbing you by the throat and punching you in the gut and still leaving you with a smile. Off Beat is a fantastic addition to the series.
