Moon Over Hanks Hollow by Rachelle Kampen

Blurb:

Sixteen-year-old Rosie Hart has spent her life split between two very different worlds. In the secret, male-dominated world of werewolves, she is the only female. As a witch, she struggles to understand her powers, even under the guidance of her grandmother.

Rosie’s formed a close bond with her pack, especially with her brother, Sam, and with handsome, smart, sixteen-year-old Lucas. The three of them have grown up together, learning how to navigate their extraordinary lives. Despite their close bond, she struggles with the isolation and insecurity of being different.

When a handsome classmate starts looking her way, Rosie tries to put aside her awkward alter-egos and strives for a little bit of normal, teenage-girl fun. But with the United States Werewolf Council breathing down her father’s back and a hunter prowling in the woods behind the pack house, Rosie’s already complicated life teeters on chaos. Normal might be out of the question, but can Rosie find peace—within herself and her complicated world?

My review:

Rosie Hart is an anomaly. A female werewolf who is half witch. She has been raised in a male dominated world. She has been hidden and protected but she has enemies. She has struggled with her empathetic nature in social situations and feels like she is a freak.

My heart bled for Rose as she struggles to find her way. She has a terrific support team in her father, brother and Lucas. But even they must submit to the council. I can’t wait to see how she grows into her gifts and takes on the patriarchy.

Red Velvet (Little Cakes #4) by Pepper North & Paige Michaels

Blurb:

Welcome to Little Cakes, the bakery that plays Daddy matchmaker!

Riley Bradford is used to people assuming she’s as tough as her tattooed exterior. Only her closest friends know her cocky bartender persona hides a sweet Little.

Shibari expert Milo Dante crafts masterful silken rigging. Unfortunately, the eager volunteers trapped in the elaborate knots he creates have never captured his heart. Will the submissive hidden inside Riley be the one he’ll never be able to set free?

Little Cakes is sweet and satisfying series, but dare to taste only if you like delicious Daddies, luscious Littles and guaranteed happily-ever-afters.

My review:

Red Velvet is a delicious addition to this series. Neither Riley nor Milo are what they appear on the surface or not just what they appear to be. They each have layers and when they finally decide to explore those layers with each other we get to enjoy a sweet treat.

Marked For Strife (Crashed and Claimed #2) by Susan Hayes

Blurb:

It was supposed to be the trip of a lifetime… now she’s just trying to stay alive.

Rissa can’t believe her luck. She won an all-expenses paid trip on a luxury matchmaking cruise. She’s not looking for love, but a few weeks of five-star pampering while seeing the galaxy sounds perfect… until it all goes wrong.

Abandoning ship wasn’t on her itinerary, and neither is the growly but oh-so-sexy alien who is half convinced she’s the enemy, and utterly certain she’s his. She’s got a list of the reasons they’re wrong for each other, but when they’re together, everything just feels right.

Crash landing on a prison planet may not be the vacation she dreamed of, but it might turn out to be the best “worst” day of her life.

**Buckle up. This sci-fi romance contains an alien with fur, fangs, horns, and a very possessive attitude when it comes to the woman he’s claimed for his own.

My review:

Strife is the tech guy stranded on the prison planet. Between him and the android Bysshe the aliens have managed to survive fairly comfortably. Rissa is a human technical engineer on vacation when the ship she is on is hit and she is forced to abandon ship. She is extremely uncomfortable dirt side. Being found by Strife probably saves her life if not her sanity.

This is a sexy, action-packed romp that will leave you with a smile.

Bad Girls Drink Blood by S.L. Choi

Blurb:

There is only one hybrid fae in existence, and that dishonor goes to Lane Callaghan.

After a life spent dodging slurs, threats, and assassination attempts, Lane gave her past the one finger salute and ditched her former fae home for good. The detective agency she and her sisters run on the edge of Las Vegas continues to limp along, with Lane doing more debt collecting and intimidating than investigating, but anything to pay the bills. Between working for low-lifes to bring down even lower-lifes, eating cheesy poofs by the bucket, and flirting with the criminally attractive bartender where she conducts business, life is good.

That ends when a routine job goes sideways, leaving Lane with a sack full of stolen sun shards—the source of sun fae power. Without the shards, the sun fae face giving up their magic completely, or risk death if they use their power. Considering they would rather see her dead, good riddance, as far as Lane’s concerned—except her father and adopted sister are sun fae. Lane must choose—return home to save.  the fae bastards that almost killed her, or let them burn.

My review:

Urban Fantasy has a new kick butt heroine in Lane Callaghan. A hybrid, her genetics give her an edge she uses to her advantage. With her sisters of the heart she runs a private investigative service that keeps the bets at the bar going.

The author has created a rich world of fae, shifters and other fantastic creatures and tossed our heroines into the mix. They not only survive they thrive. I really enjoyed Lane and her sisters. I eagerly look forward to more adventures with them all.

Dead Against Her (Bree Taggert #5) by Melinda Leigh

Blurb:

Called to an isolated farm to check on an elderly widow, Sheriff Bree Taggert finds a brutal double homicide. One of the victims is Eugene Oscar, the bitter and corrupt former deputy she recently fired.

Working with criminal investigator Matt Flynn, Bree discovers that she isn’t the only one who had a troubling history with Eugene. But someone doesn’t want Bree digging up the past. She becomes the target of a stranger’s sick and devious campaign calculated to destroy her reputation, career, family, and new relationship with Matt. To make matters worse, she’s the prime suspect in Eugene’s murder.

When her chief deputy goes missing while investigating the case, Bree refuses to back down. She won’t let him become the next victim. His life and her future depend on finding a killer nursing a vengeful rage.

My review:

Another fabulous installment in this series. Bree has grown so much personally over the previous books and that becomes really evident in this book. Former deputy Eugene Oscar was a pain in the tail for Bree from the start. Now he’s dead and it’s up to Bree to find his murderer. She has to do it while dealing with intense harassment from an unknown source. Once again we are set upon a twisted trail and Bree will power through like she always does only this time she has the backing of family and friends. This story will grab your attention and not let go till way past the last page.

I haven’t read any other books in this series. Yet. And it is obvious that there are other books. Sara is an interesting and engaging character faced with an incredible dilemma. This book kept me riveted and thinking long past the last page.

Daddy's Saving (ABC Towers #3) by Pepper North

Blurb:

Only a Daddy could save her from herself now…

After a lengthy sabbatical to be with her terminally ill husband, Sharon Ross is finally returning to Edgewater Industries. Broken by her loss, and weary from constant caregiving, she is relieved to be back with the only family she has left.

Knox Miller has loved Sharon from afar for years, and he can’t stand by as grief and exhaustion consume the Little girl inside her. A special Daddy’s tender love and care could rescue Sharon from her misery, and Knox intends to be the one she can count on for that relief.

My review:

This story has all the feels. Sharon is a talented administrator. She took off to tend to her husband who was slowly dying from early onset dementia. Knox is the head of security for Edgewater Industries. Knox has loved Sharon for years but couldn’t act because she was married. He will not allow her to wallow in misery. He will give her time but she will be his. I loved the slow build of love between Knox and Sharon. The care he shows her will make your heart go aww.
