Taylor Maid (Dreamspun Desires) by Tara Lain review & Giveaway

Taylor Maid (Dreamspun Desires) by Tara Lain review & Giveaway

Blurb:
He'll marry the maid to get $50 million but a secret could queer the deal.
Taylor Fitzgerald needs a last-minute bride.
On the eve of his twenty-fifth birthday, the billionaire’s son discovers that despite being gay, he must marry a woman before midnight or lose a fifty-million-dollar inheritance. So he hightails it to Las Vegas… where he meets the beautiful maid Ally May.
There’s just one rather significant problem: Ally is actually Alessandro Macias, son of a tough Brazilian hotel magnate. But if Ally keeps pretending to be a girl for a little while longer, is there a chance they might discover this marriage is tailor-made?

My review:
At times sweet, silly and sappy this is a fun read. Taylor is an out and proud square. Ally is a major hottie with major secrets. These two are surprisingly perfect for each other. If you like your romance with a little drama and angst you are going to love this.

Falcon: December (Mystic Zodiac #12) by Brandy Walker

Blurb:
After months of waiting, it’s time for Falcon to claim her prize. The one Hades and Persephone promised for her years of loyal and undying servitude. All she needs to do is find the human and take him home to the Underworld. Then she will finally have someone to share her days. Someone to fill her lonely nights. Someone to claim as her own. If they happen to fall in love, then she'll be happy with that. But it certainly isn't necessary.

Deval Hope is still fighting. Fighting the addiction his sister saved him from so many months ago. Fighting to keep the darkness that fills his soul, at bay. His days bleed into each other, as he struggles to keep his sanity. At night, he escapes his reality with dreams of a dark-haired vixen he calls his own. She makes him feel whole and at peace, something he never thought he'd feel again. He knows there is something missing in his life, but doesn't know what it could be. The arrival of a petite badass that tickles something in the back of his brain has him wondering if she's the missing piece.

My review:
Finally we get to meet Falcon, the dark to Thanes’ light. Thane got Amara in Thane: January (Mystic Zodiac #1) and Falcon gets Amara’s brother Deval. Two sides of the same coin. This is a sweet and sexy read of love and redemption. There is a place for everything including darkness and Deval is finally allowed to embrace that fact. Falcon is the last of this fun series unless the author wants to give us the story of Clothos and Eros bet (please, please) and I will admit to loving them all. If you want a quick escape from the everyday I highly recommend this series.

Always His Earl by Cheryl Dragon

Blurb:
London, May 1815

Back in London, and free from the navy, Lieutenant Myles Harris is now a wealthy man of property. His late father separated Myles from his lover, the Earl of Thistledown, George Hardwick. Years apart have hurt both men, but their feelings haven’t disappeared.

George believes he has put the past behind him and has no interest in seeing Myles again. However, the Earl can’t turn away Myles’ little sister, the sweet girl he watched grow up next door, when she runs from her abusive husband. Hiding her in his London home, George must also have Myles as a guest under his roof. The duo must work together for their common good. Passion reignites and soon the men are breaking laws! The options are few, but they’d much rather defy the law than deny their hearts and abandon their honor.

My review:
m/m
This is really two stories in one. First there is the second chance romance between the Earl and his Navy man, Myles, and the story of the Earl’s brother and Myles sister. Bottom line I had to grit my teeth at the injustice of it all. It was illegal for two men to be lovers and Myles father married Myles’ little sister off to an abusive bastard just to get access to a title. Now Myles father is dead and he has returned to London. He will need to deal with his ex-lover the Earl of Thistledown, George Hardwick as George has been tending to his estates for him while he was away. George is also hiding Myles’ sister Claire from her abusive husband while she heals from the beating she received. Can George forgive Myles for leaving without a word? Can Myles forgive George for not writing to him while he was away? Can George and Myles keep Claire safe from her abusive husband even though the law is on his side? Can George keep his brother Basil from killing Claire’s husband? You will have to read to find out.  This is a well written tale from a sad period in time.

Panther's Claim (Bitten Point #2) by Eve Langlais

Blurb:
Cynthia: So I met a man.
Mom: Is he single?

Hitting on the wrong woman finds Daryl regaining consciousness in a motel taped to a chair. Things were looking up--and not just below the belt.

A sexy, cocoa-complexioned veterinarian--with killer curves--wants answers, and he's only too happy to give them to her, for a price, say a kiss, or something more, from those luscious lips. The problem is Cynthia isn't the type to fall for flirty words and panty-dropping smiles. She tempts Daryl into helping her. Teases him into acting. Claims his heart without even trying.

But that was okay because...She's mine...and someone was trying to hurt her.

Hell no.

This kitty isn't afraid to unleash his claws and rescue the woman he wants. An intriguing, hot woman, a mystery, and danger? Sounds like fun, and Daryl is ready to play. He'll do anything to claim Cynthia as his mate.

My review:
Panther's Claim is a slapstick romance. From the first page Daryl and Cynthia is a series of comedic mishaps that will have you laughing out loud. It is of course all designed to prepare you for the more serious parts of the book like the murder, mystery and mayhem. Think Scooby Doo with sex and parents. What I am trying to say is that this is a fun addition to the series and you should definitely check it out.

But one earth shattering kiss makes her wonder if she should ditch her virginity status in what surely will be a one-night stand.

His Royal Redemption by J.C. Makk

Sir Antony Richarden is determined to win the King’s Favor, a prize which will save his family estate and secure his nieces’ future. His only obstacle? Princess Estelle of Dirksbee, the woman he left at the altar is going to make this competition more than difficult. Never mind the fact he still has feelings for Estelle…

My review:
Almost every child has at one point imagined themselves as royalty. In these 5 tales we learn that royals are people too and falling in love has pitfalls for them as well.  Five fabulous stories by five terrifically talented authors.
Her Marine Prince by Heather Long – What happens when you are a princess and 10th in line for the throne or is that 12th? Unlike her sisters Princess Francesca “Frankie” Grace has no interest in scandal or pomp and circumstance she wants to follow in her father’s footsteps and serve as a Marine. Too get his approval and assistance in reaching her goal her father signs her up for a civilian boot camp where she meets retired Marine Hugh Dillon. They put each other through the wringer and you’ll have to read it to see who comes out on top. Marines and Royals have no better advocate than Heather Long.

Alexandre by Carole Mortimer - Prince Alexandre of Androcco is used to getting what he wants and what he wants is Anastazia Carmichael. Stazzi is outspoken and brash. She is honest and funny. She is the daughter of an impoverished Duke but Prince Alexandre doesn’t know that all he knows is he wants her. She is not like the other women he has known and the fight to get her into his bed may be the best thing he has ever done.  Watching these two butt heads is a lot of fun.

Seducing the Princess by Susan Stephens – Princess Angelika aka Angel is in a very bad place. Her father the king is dying, the country is failing and her uncle is trying to kill her as she is the only heir to the throne.  In steps Gideon Black. The boy she had a crush on has left to become a man and wealthy owner of a security company and just what she needs to help her secure her throne. If only her heart doesn’t get in the way. A fun coming of age story.

Corrupted by the Prince by Shelli Stevens – This is a fun yet sad story of wealth and expectations. Prince Kostas of Mykorini is “the spare” and so lives a life of a media scandal although he runs his own successful company as well. Evelynn “Eva” Fairchild is the daughter of a US Senator and the good girl among her wild child sisters. When Eva meets Kostas when he is vacationing in the Hamptons she is intrigued and interested despite knowing his reputation she believes there is more to him than meets the eye. One thing leads to another and at the ripe old age of 25 she gives the Prince her virginity only to awake abandoned and pregnant. Yep, you’ve read this story before but the reason it keeps being rewritten is it is a good one. As is this version.

His Royal Redemption by J.C. Makk - Sir Antony Richarden and his former betrothed Princess Estelle of Dirksbee are competing for the same prize. He needs it to put a roof over the heads of his three nieces’ who are depending on him. She needs it to repair the reputation shattered when he left her. But things aren’t always as they seem and the competition may be just the thing they need to figure that out.

This is a fun collection that will remind you that Royals put their pants on one leg at a time just like the rest of us.

Her Fierce Warrior (X-Ops #4) by Paige Tyler

Blurb:
The woman tensed. As anger and fear ricocheted across her face, her eyes changed from red to green to brown in a dizzying display like nothing he'd ever seen.
Every instinct in Angelo's body screamed at him to lunge for his weapon. Instead he set his feet for impact, blocking her slashing claws. Unbelievably, after a few moments of struggling, she went still, all the fight gone...
Minka isn't sure she should trust the sexy Special Forces soldier who found her. Subjected to horrors, on the run from scientists set on locking her in a cage, Minka is terrified of the monster she's becoming...and somehow, Angelo is the only one who can calm the beast inside her and make her feel safe.
But can she trust the way he makes her feel when she's not even sure she can trust herself?
X-Ops Series:
Her Perfect Mate
Her Lone Wolf
Her Secret Agent
Her Wild Hero
Her Fierce Warrior

My review:
Another high energy, pnr/romantic suspense from the fantastic Paige Tyler.  Although this book can be read standalone I believe you will enjoy it so much more if you’ve read the others first. In this installment we are given some answers and a whole lot more questions. We meet Minka running from the sadistic bastards who have injected her with a serum made with Ivy’s harvested DNA creating a beast inside her that she doesn’t understand. It is her good luck that she runs into the one American company of service men who get what she is and can get her help. She attaches to Angelo and won’t let go. He grounds her. So he is charged with bringing her back to America and the DCO where nothing is as it seems and there are multiple games in play. But between Angelo and the good folks at DCO Minka is given every tool to get the beast inside under control but not much time. I really like Minka. She isn’t perfect but she is real. Angelo is hot and kind and also not perfect. These two are made for each other. Run and get this series.
