Hero & Villain: Getting Revenge on my Billionaire Arch-Nemesis (Super Serum Billionaires Book 1) by Juliann Whicker

Hero & Villain: Getting Revenge on my Billionaire Arch-Nemesis

(Super Serum Billionaires Book 1) by Juliann Whicker

Blurb:

A Romantic Suspense Dark Comedy Duology.

In this dark romantic comedy, put away your notions of happily ever after because Daniela Delavigne's about to rewrite those rules—with an infuriating billionaire tech genius and a mountain of chaos. Also a mountain lion of chaos.

All Daniela wanted was to enjoy life as a fiercely independent heiress with a penchant for corporate take-overs and private cello lesson. Being betrayed by her fiancé, the obvious solution is to run away to Las Vegas to get revenge, seducing the monster, Dirk Dagger, who ruined her life and her business deal. Vegas wasn't on her five-year plan. But hey, as long as she can get her vengeance on the ground floor, the acrophobic has everything under control.

When a group of vigilantes take over her secret identity, Daniela finds herself swept into an impossibly chaotic existence filled with neon-lit Las Vegas escapades. Worst of all, away from her diabolical family, she starts to think that maybe she's not cut out for a life of villainy.

Dirk's on a mission of his own, duking it out with high-tech billionaires and evil family members, all while maintaining that perfect jawline and infuriating charm. He'll do everything he can to save Daniela whether she wants to be saved or not.

So what’s a girl to do when she’s stuck on a thrill ride with a man who might be her downfall or her destiny? Lean in, of course, especially when the stakes involve dancing on the edge of illicit romance and demolition-worthy fireworks.

Super Serum Billionaires is a dark comedy romantic suspense series with psychological issues, slow burn, and a side of paranormal. This is the first book in a duology in the Super Serum Billionaire world.

My review:

Whew! Getting Revenge on my Billionaire Arch-Nemesis is a rollercoaster ride that will have you laughing in no time. With a crazy supporting cast Dirk and Dani are terrific foils for each other. I absolutely loved this tale and can’t wait for the next installment.

Agent Alone (Region Two Urban Fantasy Series) by Janet Walden-West

Blurb:

When secrets are the only thing keeping you alive, how can you trust anyone with the truth?

Protecting the clueless public while keeping the existence of his monster hunting Company on the down-low is Ridge Prescott's jam.

Associating with civilians, not so much. Until taking out a bloodthirsty ghoul ends in accidentally tag-teaming with the grumpiest woman he's ever rescued. For the first time, McKenna Cabello has him thinking about hands-on civilian research.
Good thing, since A) she doesn’t know jack about monsters, and B) she’s still hell bent on finding a couple of street kids under her protection who’ve gone missing.

Her record says she’s the Enforcer for the most brutal gun runner in the Gulf, and according to Company code, Ridge must turn her in. But the more time they spend together searching for the teens, the harder it is to believe she’s a criminal. Ridge can spot a secret a mile away though, and McKenna is hiding something major. Company Rule Number One is never have someone at your back that you can’t trust.

Time is running out and unless he can rewrite the rules, Galveston will drown under a wave of monsters, McKenna and the kids their first victims.

My review:

Agent Alone is an intriguing prequel to what appears to be a fascinating series. Ridge is a trainer for The Company, a black book group dedicated to hunting down cryptids and other feral paranormal creatures.  McKenna is an undercover agent for the ATF. She’s been under for three years and it is beginning to take a toll. Ridge and McKenna meet fighting a ghoul and both of their worlds will never be the same. I enjoyed learning about their world and look forward to visiting again.

Rock Bottom: A Paranormal Rockstar Romance (Mythic Beast #3) by Candace Blevins

Rock Bottom: A Paranormal Rockstar Romance (Mythic Beast #3) by Candace Blevins

Blurb:

Julian’s voice doesn’t match his body.

Julian once commanded opera stages across Europe, his towering presence and otherworldly tone making him a legend. But the castration that preserved his ethereal voice trapped him in centuries of ownership and abuse that followed him even into vampirism, where his maker cursed him to live forever merely for the size of his manhood. Now, finally granted a path to freedom, Julian doesn't dare hope for more than survival.

He never expected to be wanted for anything but the power he brings to the bedroom, and he definitely isn't looking for love.

Then Silver explodes into his carefully controlled world like lightning.

On stage with Mythic Beast, Silver is pure fire and thunder, shredding guitar strings and society’s expectations with equal fury, commanding crowds with the same fierce confidence that radiates from every pore. She’s been both submissive and slave in the BDSM community, but she’ll never again submit outside of scenes. Gender is just another box society tries to force people into, and Silver refuses to be contained by anyone's expectations. Some days she's fire in leather and lace, other days he's danger in ripped jeans and attitude.

What Silver wants, Silver fights for. And she wants the gentle giant with haunted eyes and careful manners. She wants to kneel before the vampire who sees all of her — every fierce, fractured, incandescent piece — and claims her just the same.

Two damaged souls who don’t fit society’s rules. One impossible connection.

My review:

Candace Blevins never fails to bring a new twist. Silver has secrets and as they bring them to light in this tale you can’t help but fall for them. Silver knows who they are and years of therapy has given them the confidence to give a big FU to anyone who feels they have a say in the matter. I fell for Silver alongside Julian and marveled as their relationship grows. The ending left me breathlessly awaiting the next installment.

To Kill a Badger (Honey Badger Chronicles #6) by Shelly Laurenston

Blurb:

Nelle Zhao is a social media maven who knows what matters. And the only thing that matters right now is survival. Not easy, though, when her honey badger teammates attract trouble the way she attracts attention. She didn’t know when it became her job to protect the ones she cares about from themselves, but even she has to admit…she’s really good at it. Too bad some people don’t appreciate when she’s being helpful. Especially Keane Malone, who doesn’t know how to accept a friendly paw. But Nelle excels at helping! And at ignoring other people’s irrational demands, such as doing it all alone. Keane, poor pretty kitty, doesn’t understand the kind of assistance a shit-starting honey badger like Nelle can truly offer . . .

Keane knows two things—he doesn’t like other people, and he is going to crush the de Medicis, an evil coalition of male lion shifters who are not only snatching innocent humans for fun and profit, but also killed his father. And for once, he may not be able to fight this fight alone, forcing him to let long-legged, jet-setting Nelle join the fight. And getting close to Nelle is suddenly bringing out his roar . . .

My review:

Another terrifically funny, completely manic, rollercoaster ride of insanity featuring the quirkiest bunch of characters ever created.

I have laughed my way through this whole series and while Nelle and Keane may not be the strangest couple this may be the strangest courtship of the series.

I can’t recommend this series enough.

The Vampire in the Potting Shed (Groom & Doom #1) by Hailey Edwards

Blurb:

There are two things Ana Sartori knows for certain. She can’t shapeshift into a wolf like her father or his pack. And, despite her being a latent, little more than human, he loves her despite her faults. She’s never going to be an alpha like him, but she can still hold her own in a fight. Not that her life is violent. He makes sure of that. Aside from occasionally wrestling pets into a headlock when it’s time to trim their nails at Gwinnett Street Groomers, Ana leads a simple life.

At least that was the case until someone broke into her pet resort and spa, leaving a mystery dog behind in one of the bougie boarding suites. Not to mention there’s a vampire hiding in the potting shed. A very tall, very handsome vampire. He even smells nice, minus the blood drenching his clothes.

Ana could handle those things, probably, but now there’s a new alpha determined to claim the town—and Ana—as his territory. Either she stands and fights for her home, or she runs to her father with her (metaphorical) tail tucked between her legs. Life is a lot of things, but for Ana, simple isn’t one of them anymore.

My review:

The Vampire in the Potting Shed has some laugh out loud moments that left me gigglesnorting tea through my nose. This is a fast-paced thrilling ride filled with danger and questions some of which we get answers to and others that will have to wait until the next book. I can’t wait.

The Alpha And The Baker by Roxie Ray

Blurb:

A grumpy-sweet alpha. A broke but brilliant baker. One emergency cake order that might just be fate.

When Castiel’s pack reunion turns into a frosting-fueled disaster, the last thing he expects is to find salvation in the form of a tiny bakery—and the fiery, flour-dusted woman who runs it.

Felicia’s barely keeping her business alive, her heart is still healing, and she has zero time for distractions—especially not the ridiculously hot country guy begging for last-minute cakes. But with a hundred people waiting for dessert and a cash offer she can’t refuse, she says yes.

One rushed bake. Three ruined ovens. A van full of dreams.
And a connection that neither of them saw coming.

She’s a human with a whisk.
He’s an Alpha with responsibilities.
But when their worlds collide, it’s anything but half-baked.

Fans of small-town shifter romance, soft alpha energy, and banter that melts frosting will devour this slow-burn standalone with found family, first shifts, and the sweetest damn love story this side of the forest.

My review:

Rarely have I fallen for a couple so fast. Felicia is a hard working woman trying to make her dreams come true. Her bakery is barely getting by. Cas is a sweet cinnamon roll of an alpha who isn’t perfect but he’s still amazing. I was prepared for a quick rom com but got so much more. Theres a deeper sub plot that I truly enjoyed. Another fantastic read by Roxie Ray.

Provoking Camden (Surrender Book 15) by Becca Jameson

Blurb:

Simone
I’ve spent four years provoking Camden.
He was my professor and never crossed the line.
Now that I’ve graduated, maybe he’ll see me.
One fateful night changes everything.
I shouldn’t have been out alone in the dark.
I should have screamed louder, fought harder.
Now I’m a shell of my former bubbly self.
Camden tries to pick up the pieces.
But I’m not sure I can ever shake the nightmares.

Camden
Simone has been under my skin for four years.
I’ve stood firm, not crossing any ethical lines.
She’s a brat, a tease, such a naughty girl.
But now she has graduated.
Before I can make my move, tragedy strikes.
Heart in my hands, I bring her into my home.
She’s hurting and broken.
I’m determined to reach her, though.
I won’t give up until she’s mine.

My review:

We met Simone in Controlling Natasha (Surrender Book 14). She’s been crushing on Camden for four years but he was her professor, and she was too young. She’s now a graduate and tired of waiting for him to make a move. When she gets attacked on the way home from Surrender it motivates Camden to finally make his claim age differenced be damned.

Simone is a fun character as different from Natasha as can be. A sassy brat with a heart of gold. Learning her story was worth the read.
