Scales Of Honesty (The Apprentice Of Anubis #8.5) by Laura Greenwood

Scales Of Honesty (The Apprentice Of Anubis #8.5) by Laura Greenwood

Blurb:

Being a priestess for the goddess of truth and justice is not for the faint-hearted. Taia always thought she and fellow Ma'at Blessed priest, Metjen, were inseparable. When he starts avoiding her, she questions whether their bond is as strong as she thought it was. A big festival to celebrate the temples in London comes with a test of Taia's devotion and the goddess of truth and justice is not one to displease. Can Taia and Metjen figure out what's causing the problems between them before they risk losing the blessing of their goddess? - Scales Of Honesty is a standalone companion story to The Apprentice Of Anubis series, an urban fantasy set in an alternative version of London where the Egyptian Empire never fell. Scales Of Honesty can be read as a standalone. The events take place during the events of Festival Of The Blessed. If you love Egyptian mythology, alternative versions of the modern day, temple politics, and slow-burn workplace romance, then start the Apprentice Of Anubis series today with Apprentice Of The Dead.

My review:

I picked this up as free standalone in a series I haven’t read. Wow! I was blown away. Fantastic world building and intriguing characters.  I will definitely be checking this series out.

Shifted Hearts of Crescent Cove - Book 2 – Adrian by Robbie Cox

Blurb:

He wasn’t looking for love, and she only wanted a story for the paper, but some things are destined beyond our control.

Adrian Sinclair has worked toward opening his own restaurant his entire life, and now is his chance. And then she walks in for an interview and his world explodes, almost literally.

Selene Archer is ready to hit the big times as a journalist with her story on the Blackthorns criminal empire when her editor assigns her a fluff piece. Her attitude changes, though, when she sees the son of the town’s Alpha staring at her like his next meal, and she hopes it’s a five-course affair.

Her story forgotten, Selene falls for Adrian, giving herself to his visions for the future until someone sends her a package meant to kill her. She believed it’s the Blackthorns until someone threatens Adrian as well. Now they’re dodging attacks without knowing who’s sending them.

As the heat rises, Adrian must protect his mate, but how can he when he doesn’t even know who’s behind it? When whoever is after them strikes again, Adrian realizes he can either save his future or his present. He can’t have both.

This next installment of Shifted Hearts of Crescent Cove promises to be a harrowing ride as everywhere they look a new threat emerges. Grab Adrian now to see how hot things get!!!

And make sure you read the first in the Shifted Hearts of Crescent Cove series - Tobias!

My review:

Things are smoking hot between Chef Adrian and reporter Selene Archer. These two will make you sweat in this PNR suspense.  You can read this standalone but I believe you will get more out of it if you’ve read Tobias first.

Doctoring Dolly (Submissives of Rawhide Ranch Book 5) by Cooper McKenzie

Doctoring Dolly (Submissives of Rawhide Ranch Book 5) by Cooper McKenzie

Blurb:

Turns out the biggest danger at Rawhide is the danger of falling…in love.

Dolly Carter has a tendency to be what some people would call “accident prone”.

She just calls herself a big ole’ klutz.

That isn’t stopping her from learning everything she can about kink, though, so she takes herself off to Rawhide Ranch, where she can learn in a safe, protected environment.

What she isn’t safe from, however, is the smoking hot doctor who commands her attention from her very first visit to the dungeon. Doctor Quincy Nelson is every woman’s fantasy come to life—and he has his sights set on Dolly.

But Dolly has a big secret. One so huge it threatens not just her relationship with Quincy, but her future at Rawhide Ranch. And even having her own personal doctor may not be enough to patch up her broken heart when her secret is finally discovered…

My review:

Dolly is a bit of a stumblebum. She needs a Doctor Daddy to take care of all her bumps and bruises.  Dr. Nelson is fresh out of the military and looking for his future. Can he find it in Dolly? I enjoyed the interaction between the characters from the first page to the very end.

If only that captivating computer genius didn’t ooze Daddy vibes.

My review:

What if Nancey Drew was little? Juniper is smart as a whip and loves a good mystery. Magnus has got his hands full with this one. A steamy romp.

Zane (Were Zoo #1) by R.E. Butler

Blurb:

Gorilla shifter Zane Keeton has spent the last twenty-seven years of his life at Amazing Adventures Safari Park, where shifters live in secret away from humans. The enjoyment he gets from tuning up safari vehicles and hanging out in his shifted form for the park visitors has slowly ebbed, and now his thoughts are consumed with finding a mate of his own.

When human Adriana and her best friend, Celeste, receive free tickets for a VIP tour of the safari, they decide that it’s just the sort of exciting adventure that they’ve been waiting for. But when their vehicles are separated, Adriana finds herself on the receiving end of unwanted attention from a creepy tour guide. As the tour guide suddenly attacks her in front of the gorilla paddock, she’s rescued by an unlikely hero – one of the gorillas.

Adriana quickly discovers that her rescuer is no ordinary gorilla. Not only are shifters real, but the gorilla who saved her life claims that she’s his soulmate. Is she willing to let go of everything she knows and embrace being Zane’s mate?

*This book was part of the Gathering Darkness boxed set. If you already own the boxed set, please do not purchase this book.*

My review:

I picked this up in a first in series promotion. I was excited by the non-traditional shifter hero. Silverback gorilla! This was a fun premise and an enjoyable tale. There are some laugh out loud moments and interesting world building. I will be reading the next in the series.

Her Halloween Billionaire (Billionaire Brat Pack Book 1) by R.C. Wynne

Blurb:

A single mom who simply wants to make her son happy this Halloween, a frustrated figurehead for a company, and their chance to rescue each other from a mundane life. For the past four years, Candy Hollier has only had one priority—take care of her five-year-old son, Brandon, and she’s kept her life simple in pursuit of that goal—that is, until her boss, Jackson Blackburn, asks her out. Her life has never been grandiose, and she’s been all right with that. All she’s ever needed is the love of her son, the help of her mother on occasion, and her best friend to keep her from becoming stagnant. She goes to work, returns home, plays mom, and then slips into bed, perhaps reading a chapter or two before sleep claims her. Simple. Pragmatic. Predictable. But Jackson Blackburn is anything but predictable. Caught up in the adrenaline of being asked out by the most sought-after man in the company, Candy doesn’t even realize what’s happening until she hears the whispers behind her back. Now, faced with false accusations of being a gold digger and not wanting to see her son hurt in the wake of office busybodies, Candy has only one choice—she has to turn her back on happiness and quit her job. But will Jackson allow her to simply walk away?

My review:

Fun office romance. Jackson and Candy were adorable together. Fast paced romp.
