A Most Excellent Midlife Crisis (Good to the Last Death #3) by Robyn Peterman

Blurb:

A Paranormal Women's Fiction with a bit of class, and a lot of sass, for anyone who feels like age is just a number!

Midlife's a bumpy journey. The ride is a freaking rollercoaster. The crisis is real.

With my life back to normal--normal being a very relative word--one would think I'd catch a break.

One would be very wrong.

With an Angel gunning for me and a Demon in my bed, life couldn't be more complicated. Not to mention, I'm going to have to make a rather large life choice.

Do I want to live forever?

Does anyone? Forever is a very long time.

Whatever. I'll think about it tomorrow... or next week... or next month. As long as I have my girlfriends, my dogs, a super-sized case of merlot and my deceased squatters, I'm good to go.

My midlife crisis. My rules. If it doesn't kill me dead first, I plan to have a most excellent midlife crisis.

My review:

A Most Excellent Midlife Crisis picks up right where Who's Midlife Crisis Is It Anyway left off. This book is warm, laugh out loud funny, sweet, sassy and all the things I look for in a story. I can’t recommend this series enough. Daisy is my hero.

Their Controlled Chaos (Wintervale Packs Book 4) Milly Taiden

Blurb:

The exciting conclusion to the Wintervale Packs series is here!
Book 4 of the Wintervale Packs

Jinelle Sutton has known from a young age that she is more than human. Chaos is a big part of her life and she’s learned to ball it up and hide it away from the world. Which isn’t too hard because she’s always been a bit weird. A high IQ and social awkwardness means she’s got very few friends. She longs for the day she doesn’t have to hide who she is. When she hears about a surrogate program with an alien shifter planet she jumps at the chance. After all, who to better understand her than alien shifters?

Daeria is much more than she expects. Her new friends are also surrogates and have special abilities of their own. She feels like she belongs for the first time in her life. Then there are the four wolf shifters who each claim to be her mate.

The war that took so much from the Dearia shifters may have ended, but they’re still dealing with the aftermath. The evil that wants complete control over the planet seeks out a powerful relic that gives him anything he desires. It’s up to Jinelle, Harland, Turk, Seff, and Merric to find the relic before Xaxhin does. All the while, Jinelle’s powers grow stronger and more uncontrollable. Then again, when has chaos ever been controlled?

My review:

Anyone who has dealt with a toddler on sugar knows that chaos is a powerful force. Jinelle has the gifts of her heritage as the great, great granddaughter of Chaos. Since her arrival on Daeria her powers have grown as has her fear of using them.

This story tells of the power of love and happiness over fear and anger. Jinelle and her wolves are hot, hot, hot! A little crazy is a wonderful thing.

Gettin' Witched (Witchless in Seattle Mysteries Book 12) by Dakota Cassidy

Blurb:

Stevie here, reporting to you live from Ebenezer Falls, WA with my disaster of a day.

Yes, that’s right. I’m having a terrible day. The worst. It started off like any other day with the exception of Win’s strange behavior, that is. But it’s all gone downhill from there and I have questions.

So many questions…

For instance, why is everyone else in Eb Falls behaving as strangely as my International Man of Mystery? And who the heck is Donna? For that matter, who’s Candy Cane and why does she have snow? Who’s the blonde picking up Win in our driveway? And was that an Aston Martin I just saw drive by?

What the heck is going on?

I set out to have a perfectly nice day after a long summer filled with tourists and readings at Madame Zoltar’s shop. Since we'd had so little time to spend together these last few weeks, I was feeling a little left behind while Win was off on a guy’s day of his own, but a much-needed spa-day should have cured that.

Or at least I thought it would.

That was before everything turned upside down, Win became almost unreachable by phone or text, and the words blackmail, drugs, and extortion were bandied about…

My review:

Stevie is having a really bad horrible day. Along the way she discovers some things about herself and all the changes life has brought with the addition of Win and Arkady into her life. This exciting addition to the series is as adorable and slapstick as one would wish. A terrific addition to the series.

Succubus Unchained (Shackled Souls Trilogy #2) by Heather Long

Blurb:

I’d become a damn vampire after all.

I never wanted or asked for this. What began as a one-night stand earned me a stint in prison, the attention of a shadow demon and rescue by three devastating—to my system—males along with the declaration that I was their foretold something...

Yeah.
No.

To win this war and regain my freedom I had to give up part of who I am and become something other. Now, Maddox calls me his mate, Fin labels me his lady, Alfred has declared I’m to be his queen. But I’m with Rogue on this one.

I’m trouble and they have no idea what I’m going to do.

*Please note this is a paranormal prison reverse harem and will feature aggressively snarky characters, a bit of twisted humor and a lot of passion. So come join an amazing group of authors in Nightmare Penitentiary, a place you’ll never want to escape from. The author suggests you should always read the forward in her books. This is book 2 in the Shackled Souls trilogy.

My review:

This story started slow and angsty but picked up speed and intrigue and left me screaming for more. This installment has Fiona coming to terms with her new normal and gives us a hint of the future. I can’t wait for the next installment.

Dealers' Choice (The Drift #10) by Susan Hayes

Blurb:
New game. New rules. One choice.

One bad decision plunged cyborg batch-brothers Victor and Ward into a nightmare they barely survived. Now, they're reclaiming their lives and trying to move forward, but it's a battle they can't win alone. Helping them let go of the past is a beautiful doctor with a soft heart and hard rules about never getting involved with her patients.

Dr. Xori Virness is everything an unmated Pheran female isn't supposed to be - independent, determined, and light years away from her home and family. Her life was just the way she wanted it. Then, two dark and dangerous men with battle-scarred psyches flew into her orbit, laying waste to her plans and tempting her to break her own rules.

When old enemies return with a new target, the brothers will have to make a choice. Surrender to the past, or fight for their future.

My review:
Dealers' Choice is a terrific addition to the scifi romance series The Drift. This installment has cyborg batch-brothers Victor and Ward falling for the same woman who has issues of her own.  Watching the guys grow and heal will make you happy. Seeing Xori come into her own is empowering. Falling in love alongside them will make your heart sing.

Uneven Justice (The Asylum Fight Club Book 7) by Bianca Sommerland & Tibby Armstrong

Blurb:
Life in the wings has its disadvantages...

One-time third-wheel in the boy-band Glam Grenade, Danny DiMarco’s existed just shy of center stage for as long as he can remember—a supporting player to two best friends who depended on him to pull their weight. While they made bank, he’s left reeling when his father’s death tangles his future in the red tape of empty contracts and drained accounts.

But the show must go on.

Jackson ‘Jacks’ Turner wears many hats, most of them gathering dust. An ex-model and an in-denial fashion designer, what he doesn’t plan to accessorize with is a newbie sub who shows up on his front doorstep looking for an introduction to the world of D/s inside Anniston Falls’ exclusive gay, members-only club.

Shea Warren is no stranger to covert ops. A Navy SEAL, he knows the ins and outs of hiding in plain sight. When Danny runs afoul of the club’s most powerful cliques on his first...and second...night as his roommate’s guest, the mission becomes clear. Protect the sweet, unassuming sub before he becomes a casualty of Jacks’ wear-em-once style.

There’s no rehearsal for this next set.

The Asylum might be more accepting of sequins and spandex than most, but Danny’s not coming to come out. In fact, with sponsors whose conservative ties pay his bills, it’s more than undesirable. It’s impossible. Except, sometimes Cupid has other plans.

Just when Danny needs to hide most, he’s headed for the last place he ever wanted to be...

In the spotlight.

My review:
I LOVE THIS SERIES! This installment has less physical danger (though there is some) and more emotional danger. We watch established and new pairings deal with stress from without and within. We discover new strength and weaknesses. Angst, anger and love. Strength comes in different forms and I think Mouse may be just as strong as any of them. I liked watching Jacks and Shea grow out of the role of Asylum agitators and into the men and Doms we’ve known they could be.

The Spring Court: A Sprinkling of Fae Novel by Emily James Taylor

Blurb:
*Second book in the A Sprinkling of Fae Series*

You're Invited to the secret meeting inside Queen Rosalie's War Room. The Spring Court is preparing for the upcoming battle by training their soldiers and gathering supplies from across the kingdom.

Meanwhile trapped in the Earthly Realm, Queen Iclyn searches for the Changelings with the handsome Leprechaun, Tobin. Will they be able to go unnoticed by Spring Fairies, stuck in the realm who could capture Iclyn and use her to gain favor with Queen Rosalie.

Also looking for favor, Robin and Cyrus meet with Lord Tristen of the Hobgoblins, hoping to persuade him to let them use some of their precious Alicorns. They need a way to reach the Earthly Realm now that the Fairy Paths are shut down by the spring Elves magic.

So hold tight to a Hobgoblin's Alicorn as it takes flight
and join us at the Spring Court

This a Portal Fantasy Reverse Harem romance that builds it's harem over the course of the books. This series follows a Fae queen and her consorts, who travel between the Fae and Earthly Realms to fix her realm and the effects her kind has on Earth.

My review:
This story picks up where The Winter Court left off. Winter Queen Icelyn has gone to the Earth Realm on her own to find a pair of changeling twins she’ll need in the pending war. This has understandably upset her consort and Captain of the Guard Robin, and her lover Summer Prince Cyrus. They set off to find her. Spring Queen Rosalie is gathering allies and making plans to take on the whole of Faery if necessary. Something really fishy has been going on in the Summer court and hopefully we will find out what soon. This book is filled with political intrigue and royal machinations. This is a terrific continuation of the tale with a cliff hanger ending. Bring on the next installment.
