Love Hard (Hard Play #3) by Nalini Singh

Blurb:
Jacob Esera, star rugby player and young single father, has worked hard to create a joyous life for his six-year-old daughter. After the death of his childhood sweetheart soon after their daughter’s birth, all Jake wants is safety and stability. No risks. No wild chances. And especially no Juliet Nelisi, former classmate, scandal magnet, and a woman who is a thorn in his side.

As a lonely teenager, Juliet embraced her bad-girl reputation as a shield against loneliness and rejection. Years later, having kicked a cheating sports-star ex to the curb, she has a prestigious job and loyal friends—and wants nothing to do with sportsmen. The last thing she expects is the fire that ignites between her and the stuffed-shirt golden boy who once loved her best friend.

Straitlaced Jacob Esera versus wild-at-heart Juliet Nelisi? Place your bets.

My review:
Love Hard is a sweet and sexy single dad romance. Jacob Esera, star rugby player and young single father is known to his teammates as “The Saint” because he is good on the field and doesn’t mess around off the field. His six year old daughter is the only female in his life. When he bumps into his daughters mothers best friend, Juliet at his brothers wedding he wasn’t ready for the sparks. They’ve always been oil and water but now he finds himself smitten with the woman shes become. Watching these two grow close is sweet, sexy and sometimes heart wrenching but I loved them all.

His Protector: Federal Paranormal Unit (Gemma-Hydrox Book 5) LJ Vickery

Blurb:
Gabriel Quenterra, a drangel with the FPU and the alpha of a local wolfpack, has a lot on his hands. What he doesn’t have time for, is Val, the handsome Strarbian who has become a major distraction. There’s no room in his life for a relationship, but a short fling? Perhaps.
Valor Addis has been attracted to Gabe since coming to earth, but a dire secret makes it far too dangerous for him to enter into a relationship. He could give his heart so easily, and there lies the problem. If the dark alpha makes the slightest overture, his resolve will surely crumble. But what a way to fall to pieces.

My review:
His Protector is a story of opposites that have more in common than they think. Gabriel Quenterra is afraid of love as he thinks it will weaken him. Valor Addis is afraid of himself and thinks he can’t fall in love for fear of hurting someone. These two will go through hell before realizing they are perfect for each other. This book is filled with action, adventure and love.

Acquiescent (I Love My Marine #7) by Cara North

Blurb:
Sabrina wanted Sheff, she just didn't realize he was a packaged deal. Like most marines he had a complicated past and a little girl she fell in love with instantly.

Unfortunately, Sgt. Sheffield had no intentions of getting involved with her regardless of how much his instincts told him he loved her, or how much his little girl insisted Sabrina was a princess.

Can the damsel save the man in distress? Can a man recover his heart and mend his soul?

This book contains Taboo subject matter and light BDSM qualities.

My review:
I listened to this short and steamy tale and was conflicted. I loved that Sabrina knew what she wanted and went for it. I disagreed with some of her choices but they were hers to make. Sheff took a bit to redeem himself in my eyes. I think little Sarah saved the story. Though this is part of a series it can be read standalone.

Fire King (Crystal Kingdom #4) by Milly Taiden

Blurb:
Book 4 of the Crystal Kingdom

Running is Chelsea Golby’s escape. Literally. She runs to get away from the pain of being rejected after asking the love of her life to marry her. Instead of wallowing in self-pity, or a pint of Ben and Jerry’s, she heads to the Crystal Kingdom to hang out with her sister Avery, the new Elf Queen. With Avery busy being queen, she decides to go on a run to see the magical lands. Maybe what her grandmom said was true and Chelsea has magic in her blood too.

Zaos Firefoot, the right hand man to King Gorwin, knows his people are fading out. It’s too bad he can’t tell the dumb-ass leader exactly what he thinks about how he rules the kingdom. As much as he hates it, Zaos does what he’s told. Until the day he’s sent out to question and kill a light elf. When Zaos finds out that beautiful light elf is his mate, all bets are off with the killing thing. He’ll protect Chelsea with his last breath if necessary. Afterall, she’s his.

The surprises don’t stop at finding a mate. Someone forgot to tell Zaos he’s the son of a dragon and a Dark Elf who are mortal enemies. The drama explodes until the realm is at risk and everyone’s life is at stake. But Chelsea isn’t one to sit idle and watch. She’s about to learn that saving a world can get a girl killed. And it’ll destroy Zaos to know there’s nothing he can do to stop her.

My review:
Enter a world on a different plane where elves, dragons and magic are real. Though Chelsea was raised on the Earth realm she has elven blood and magic in her veins. When she visits the magical plane she finds distrust, unrest and love. This is a sweet tale of love in troubled times. I really love this authors heroines. They are stronger than they know and smarter than they think. I really loved Chelsea and Zaos’ tale and look forward to new adventures.

Edge of Darkness: Episode One “Seeing Ghosts” (Paranormal Investigations Unlimited Book 1) by Paige Tyler

Blurb:
A Serialized Paranormal Romance

Episode One:

She killed a murderer…
Or did she?

It’s been five weeks since Presley Kincaid escaped a serial killer, but she’s still having nightmares. Now she wonders if her brush with death has driven her insane because she’s started seeing ghosts. But ghosts aren’t real, right? The only logical way to find out is to ask some paranormal investigators. Better yet, she wants to go on a ghost hunt to see for herself.

Unfortunately, the group leader, Logan Malone—a real pompous jerk in Presley’s opinion—isn’t thrilled with the idea of a civilian tagging along. Good thing money talks. Presley pays them to take her on a hunt and what happens makes Logan suspect maybe the ghosts are hunting Presley.

As a former cop, Logan’s protective instinct kicks in and he knows he’s got to keep her close to make sure she’s safe. And he doesn’t hate the idea of spending time with her as much as he should…

This is Episode 1 of 5 in Edge of Darkness from the Paranormal Investigations Unlimited Series

My review:
Presley Kincaid escaped death but now she thinks she is seeing ghosts. She hooks up with some paranormal investigators to see if ghosts are real or if she is going crazy. This is the first in a serialized paranormal romance. We get the set up and are introduced to the characters. Now all that’s left is to wait on the next installment.

What A Nunderful World (Nun of Your Business Mysteries Book 5) by Dakota Cassidy

Blurb:
Hello! It's me again, Trixie Lavender and my best demon friend the stoic but adorable Coop.

While attending an event for Coop’s favorite beauty guru and online superstar Glitzy Mitzy, we watch in horror as she dies right before our very eyes.

Naturally, we suspect foul play, but with no clues, and the police not calling Mitzy's death a murder, we have little to go on. But does that stop me? Nah. So you know what that means—it’s time to break out our best spyware and solve this murder!

My review:
What A Nunderful World where a possessed former nun, her demonic pals and a hunky former cop take on the glitzy world of make-up you tube mavens as one of their one dies on Trixie’s turf. This is a fantastic addition to the series. I love seeing Trixie and Coop growing into their new lives.
