Before the Rain (Tempting Signs Book 5) by JoAnne Kenrick

Blurb:
12 Authors. 12 Zodiac Signs. 1 Explosive Series. What seductive, contemporary romance will you find today? LEO.
Three fiancés in three years makes Zoe Chantilly’s relationship column for the Georgia Times her only semblance of commitment…that is until her dating advice takes a dive down the Suwannee and she’s fired.
Unemployed and single, she leaves the sweltering heat of the south and heads to the UK for a man-free break from life. The plan? Get with nature, write a novel, and be alone. Be very much alone. But nature has other plans for Zoe.
Navigating the backcountry roads of Wales seems just as complicated as her love life. A near-collision hones her desires in on Dylan Mostyn, a Leo seething with a raw prowess and macho magnetism the Aquarius in her can’t resist.
This Welshman is as arrogant as he is gorgeous. He’s also her landlord. The undeniable and thunderous attraction between them pinnacles during a karaoke duet at the village fete, but what starts as a no-strings fling quickly spirals toward dangerous ground.

My review:
Zoe Chantilly’s relationship column hits the skids when her own love life does the same. To get over it and decide what to do with her life and maybe write that book she has been putting off she accepts a three month stay in Wales.  She and her landlord are at odds from the very start who knew that the hardheaded Leo could be just what Zoe needs if they can survive each other. Before the Rain puts two unlikely souls together and lets them find each other on their own terms. This is a quirky fun tale of romance and finding your self worth, a terrific addition to the series.

Accidentally Aphrodite (Accidentals #10) by Dakota Cassidy

Blurb:
Dakota Cassidy, USA Today bestselling author of The Accidental Dragon, brings you a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy Accidentally Aphrodite, Book 10 in the Accidentally Paranormal series. Get swept away to Greece in this international romp where you'll meet a few gods and goddesses, and fall in love with Quinn Morris as she transforms from a heartbroken mess to the goddess of love.

Mythology buff Quinn Morris has always wanted to visit Greece, where her inner hardcore romantic envisioned proposing to her boyfriend. And she's finally here--with her friend Ingrid. She might not have found love at the Parthenon, thanks to her cheating ex, but she has found big boobies...and swirly purple eyes...and sparkling skin. Oh, and Greek hottie Khristos, who claims to be descended from a goddess and swears Quinn's the new Aphrodite.

With help from Khristos, and support from Ingrid's employers--Nina, Wanda, and Marty--Quinn has to learn all the tricks of the matchmaking trade, STAT, lest she has her new friend Cupid sticking arrows in all the wrong places. All while dealing with her man-hating mother, guarding her own heart from Khristos, and protecting herself from an invisible foe who might want to snatch Quinn's newfound powers from her--dead or alive.

My review:
Once again into the manic, snarky absolutely hilarious world of Dakota Cassidy’s Accidental series.  Join Nina, Marty, Wanda and the gang as they help Quinn Morris deal with her new status as a Goddess.  Yes this series is formulaic (even Nina points it out) but if it works…
I am so glad that Dakota Cassidy has decided to keep the series going.  I do so enjoy my visits with the crew and I am sure there are some paranormals she hasn’t covered yet.  So check your brain at the door, relax and enjoy.

Dangerous (Black Hills Wolves) by D.L. Jackson

Blurb:
Eleven years from the day he left, Xan Davis returns to Los Lobos a changed Wolf. After promising his insane Alpha, Magnum, that no one will ever know who he really is, he is forced to endure unspeakable torture in distant lands. The Black Hills call to his tormented soul, so he goes, hoping the familiar forests will soothe his suffering inner beast.

Liv Dunn, born a coyote but living as human, constantly looks over her shoulder. Less than a year before, a former patient attacked her, leaving her emotionally devastated. Hoping for a fresh start and the chance to find the coyote who’s remained elusive since childhood, she travels to the Black Hills.

Suffering from PTSD and no longer able to shift, Xan loses it in Gee’s Bar, Drew intervenes, forcing him into therapy with a human doctor living near Los Lobos. But just when their professional relationship blooms into more, Xan’s past arrives on his doorstep. This time, his enemy has set their sights on his mate, knowing he will do anything to protect her.

My review:
Welcome once again to the screwed up world of the Black Hills Wolves.  Dangerous is the word they use to describe Xan a wolf shifter who has returned with a bad case of PTSD from a mission gone very wrong in Africa.  He is also dangerous to the heart of coyote shifter and therapist Liv Dunn.  But she is his best chance for healing and he may help her find her inner animal again.  These two damaged souls are perfect in their imperfection and perfect for each other.  Action and romance, Dangerous is a terrific addition to the series.

Hidden Dragons (Dragon Knights #8) by Bianca D'Arc

Blurb:
Love flourishes when two knights unexpectedly find the woman of their dreams...

Sir Robert finds a beautiful maiden sobbing by a small waterfall. She proves to be a very special woman who can communicate with dragons. She lives alone in the forest, on the edge of a village Robert and his fighting partner, Bear, have been sent to investigate. When she invites them to shelter from the rain in her barn, they accept, using her place as a vantage point for their surveillance of the town below.

Both knights are drawn to the fair maiden. Could she be the one to share their lives? Their dragon partners certainly think so.

When they discover a treasonous plot in the village, they must act quickly. Will they be in time to stop the enemy from gaining a strategic foothold in their land? And will they be able to protect the woman who has become precious to them, even while the battle rages?

When the dust settles, can they convince her to stay in the Lair with them...forever?

My review:
Terrific PNR in a fascinating world and although this is the 8th in the series it can be read stand alone.  Bianca D'Arc does great PNR and SciFi romance and this book is no different.  The characters are real and vulnerable and you are sucked into their dilemma from the first page.  The world feels real which makes the issues these characters face feel the same.  Though this is a ménage story it isn’t all about the sex although that is fun too.   If you like sexy fairy tales you will get a kick out of this.

Trouble When You Walked In by Kieran Kramer

Blurb:
She’s a woman of her word. Cissie Rogers likes to do everything by the book. Literally. The town librarian in Kettle Knob, North Carolina, she’s determined to preserve the future of literature—and the library’s romantic legend—for her patrons. It’s not easy when the mayor himself, Boone Braddock, wants to close the library down. There’s only one way for Cissie to put a stop to him: By running for mayor herself!
Is he a player—or does he mean business? Boone is Kettle Knob’s favorite son, a champion athlete and stellar football coach with deep local roots. Cissie will need more than a savvy slogan and a pair of three-inch high heels to stand a chance at the polls. But what about the campaign that’s underway in her own heart? What began as professional rivalry has transformed into a simmering attraction that neither contender can ignore. Could it be that the keeper of the town’s card catalog and the legendary football hero are ready to team up…and write their own storybook romance?

My review:
A fun small town romance. I’ll admit I picked this book by mistake. I misread the authors name and thought I was getting something totally different from an author with a similar name. It was a happy mistake.  This is the first I’ve read from this author but not the last.
Trouble When You Walked In takes us to small town rural North Carolina. Cissie Rogers is the town librarian and a dreamer. She is 32 and believes in the library’s romantic legend that her true love from out of town will walk into the library and steal her heart. The only eligible male over 20 that walks into her library is the own mayor the man she has crushed on since the 4th grade and he is only there to inform her that they are shutting down the library and moving it to a strip mall so they can share with the next town over as a cost savings measure.  The legend goes with the library and she hasn’t found her true love yet. So the fight is on. She will do what it takes to save the library and the legend including running for mayor.  These are incredibly likable and real characters who will charm you to your toes.

Wolf Trouble (SWAT #2) by Paige Tyler

Blurb:
He's in trouble with a capital T...

There's never been a female on the Dallas SWAT team and Senior Corporal Xander Riggs prefers it that way. The elite pack of alpha male wolfshifters is no place for a woman. But Khaki Blake is no ordinary woman.

When Khaki walks through the door attractive as hell and smelling like heaven, Xander doesn't know what the heck to do. Worse, she's put under his command and Xander's protective instincts go on high alert. When things start heating up both on and off the clock, it's almost impossible to keep their heads in the game and their hands off each other...

My review:
Terrific!  This is so much fun.  First, I love the idea of a werewolf SWAT team.  Second, and third, and oh my goodness 16 hunky alpha males. This book is full of surprises.  We discover not only are there female werewolves we get to meet one and learn as she does what shifting feels like and what other gifts are out there. I love Khaki (well everything but her name). She has a joie de vivre that makes you just want to get to know her. She lets nothing get her down. Not even when she overhears her new supervisor Xander telling the boss he doesn’t want her on his squad.  What he means is that he wants her.  Can these two deny their mutual attraction and work together? We have fun watching them try.

Knave of Broken Hearts (Love in Laguna #2) by Tara Lain review & giveaway

Blurb:
Jim Carney has a full time job—running from himself. Since he walked out on his wealthy family at sixteen because he’d wrecked his best friend’s life over some yaoi graphic novels, Jim has lived a macho, blue-collar existence of too much booze and too little responsibility. Then Billy Ballew, the man Jim most admires, gives Jim a chance to come through as his construction supervisor. For once, Jim is determined to make someone proud. Then Jim goes in for a physical for his new job and his yaoi dream comes to life in the form of cardiologist Ken Tanaka. Jim discovers he has two heart problems—a wonky mitral valve and a serious attraction to his doctor. But Ken is a major player, and Jim might be just a notch on the doc’s stethoscope. To Ken, Jim is unforgettable—but the living embodiment of his traditional family’s worst nightmares.

How come the minute Jim decides to be responsible, he finds himself taking care of his kid brother, getting a proposal from a wealthy woman, making a deal with the devil, and winding up in the hospital—when all he really wants is the Knave of Broken Hearts?

My review:
Wow! Just wow.  Struggle along with Jim as he deals with becoming the man he was meant to be.  Jim is a big guy who left home at 16 and has made his way just getting by with too much alcohol and women.  He was gob smacked when big Billy Ballew came out as gay.  Now Billy is on his honeymoon and has asked Jim to supervise the first job for his new company while he is out of town.  Jim sobers up. Then his younger brother shows up on his doorstep being kicked out of his home for being gay.  Of course Jim takes him in.  But what has really thrown Jim for a curve is meeting his childhood sex fantasy made flesh in the form of Dr. Ken Tanaka at Billy’s wedding.  Both Jim and Ken have expectations put upon them.  Jim wants to do right by Billy while he is away and if that means dating the lady boss so be it.  Ken has a Tiger mom who has decided that if she can find him a good Japanese girl to marry she will find him a good Japanese man.  Jim and Ken will have to find a way to either disappoint their loved ones or give up their chance at love with each other.  This is a heartrendingly sweet story and I LOVED every minute of it.
