Hidden Dragons by Emma Holly

In this latest installment of Emma Holly’s Hidden series we find out how Resurrection (that pocket of reality that is part Fairy and part human) came to be. Werewolf cops Rick and Tony Lupone are on the way to work when a call comes in about two pureblood fae fighting with swords. They are closest and take the call. When Rick comes upon one of the fae who is dying she tells him that he has been chosen to protect the woman who is to be the Keeper and his failure to do so might mean the destruction of Resurrection. When he finds out that the woman he is to protect is the half-fae he had a crush on in high school the job doesn't look too bad. Cass Maycee doesn't know what to think when high school hottie now Detective Rick Lupone shows up on her doorstep but she isn't kicking him to the curb either. It appears that Rick and Cass are going to have to solve a mystery and keep the bad guys from unmaking Resurrection and if they fall in love along the way so much the better.

This is an incredible story. Emma Holly always tells a smoking hot tale but she has out done herself this time. She makes this world real and the inhabitants mean something to you. I couldn't put this book down. Watching Rick and Cass learn to trust and love each other while on the run was at times painful and at others so erotic I blushed but always I needed to turn the page to see what happened next.

An English Bride in Scotland by Lynsay Sands

Another “hysterical historical” from one of my favorite authors. Poor Annabel is packed up at the tender age of 7 and sent to live in a convent. Now 14 years later she is still a novice and has yet to take the veil. She isn't a very good nun. (Think Maria from The Sound of Music). All that is changed when her elder sister runs away with the stable masters son leaving her parents in a lurch. They had promised their eldest to marry Ross MacKay and he has come to collect. So Annabel is abruptly pulled from the abbey to take her place. She is totally unprepared to be a wife and lady of the manor. But those things that made her a bad nun may be just what she will need to the wife of the MacKay. Now if the big guy in the plaid would stop trying to kidnap her.
This is a sweet, funny romance. It is obvious that Ms. Sands has done her research and had a great deal of fun with it. A little romance, a little mystery and a whole lot of fun.

The Switched Baby Scandal (A Scandals of San Sebastian Novel) by Theresa Meyers

Blurb:
His child. Her daughter. One monumental mix-up.

Single mom Taylor Lawrence just discovered that the hospital sent her home with the wrong infant five years ago. Now the headstrong and handsome biological father wants his child back. But Emily has always been her daughter, and Taylor won’t give her up without a fight.

Widower Reece Wallace believed his life was over when a drunk driver killed his wife and daughter. So when he learns of the baby switch, he sees this child as his ultimate salvation. But he never anticipated the fiery woman on the other side of this custody battle—or how she’d stir feelings in him long dormant.

As the media storm surrounding the hospital’s mistake intensifies, Taylor and Reece find there’s more to sort out than custody of Emily—they must work together to protect her while grappling with their growing attraction. Can they pick up the pieces of two broken families and meld them into something new?

My review:

OMG! Heartbreaking roller-coaster of emotions.  I cannot imagine the gamut of emotions these characters felt (but new to me) author Theresa Meyers had me laughing, crying, and ready to bi*** slap a few people.  I love it when I can get drawn in and involved with the characters to the point where I am talking to them.  This book got to me.  As a parent there is no more scary thought than losing a child. Thankfully I knew going in that there had to be a happy ending but getting there…  Break out the tissues.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Pros and Cons (O'Hare and Fox 0.5) & The Heist (O'Hare and Fox #1) by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg

Pros and Cons is the prequel to The Heist.  It introduces us to con-man Nick Fox and FBI special agent Kate O’Hare.  Fox is a fast talking, good looking, smart and savvy con-man who takes joy in teasing tough, focused FBI special agent Kate O’Hare.  In Pros and Cons Nick gets away but in The Heist Kate finally catches him.  But just when it seems that Nicolas Fox has been captured for good, he pulls off his greatest con of all: he convinces the FBI to offer him a job, working side by side with Special Agent Kate O’Hare.

Janet Evanovich does humor and snappy dialogue like nobody else.  Lee Goldberg writes quirky intrigue really well.  Combine the two and you have the beginnings of a really great series.

Just My Luck (Shamrock Falls #3) by Kelley Vitollo

Friends to lovers, marriage of convenience, super sweet contemporary.  Betsy is a shy, sweet young woman who has a crush on her boss, Jace Macnamara.  When he needs to get married to inherit his childhood home he makes a deal with Betsy.  Can they make it through the six months he needs to be married and still remain friends and work together after it’s over?
This has been done before but it is always fun to see a new spin on it.  Betsy is incredibly sweet but not a push-over.  Both Betsy and Jace have some major commitment issues and half the fun is watching them deal with it.

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.

Goodreads/Amazon/Barnes & Noble/Kobo/iBooks

My Review:

The very best in romantic suspense.  Although this is part of a series it can be read stand-alone.  Non-stop action and intrigue. I was bowled over by the mystery and loved the chemistry between Ryan and Anya.  Twists and turns, good guys and bad, a love story in a foreign land what more could you ask for?

Anya is a geneticist who was born in Russia.  She and her Grandmother fled to the USA when Anya’s parents died.  Now her Grandmother has been kidnapped by the Russians and Russian President Ivanov is blackmails Anya into returning to Moscow to be his future wife in exchange for her grandmother’s life.  Ryan works for the CIA.  Ryan is in Russia trying to turn an asset in Ivanov’s cabinet.  Anya turns to Ryan in hopes that he can help her find her Grandmother and free them from Ivanov’s machinations.  Ryan is CIA and doesn’t trust anyone lightly but his gut and his heart are telling him he needs Anya.  Can he rescue the girl from the bad guy and maybe save the world?  Of course he can he is a Super Agent.

Back in Bliss (Nights in Bliss, Colorado #9) by Sophie Oak

Most of this series can be read stand-alone.  There is enough back story given that you can get through.  It is nice to have the info from the previous stories but not necessary.  Not so this one.  In my opinion you should at least read Found in Bliss (#5) and Once Upon a Time in Bliss.  Logan and Seth are secondary characters in several of the previous books but in order to really understand what Logan has gone through you need to have read Found in Bliss (#5) and to understand Seth and Henry’s relationship you need to have read Once Upon a Time in Bliss.  But even if you don’t or haven’t this is one of the strongest of the series.  I laughed, cried, moaned and sighed as Seth and Logan finally get an opportunity to get their girl.

Redneck Romeo (Rough Riders #15) by Lorelei James

The last McKay standing is knocked to his knees… Dalton McKay left Addie at the alter and five days later left town altogether.  Now three years later he is back and he is determined to win the one woman he has not been able to get out of his mind.  Rory has known Dalton since she was six.  He punched her V-card and they've had a few hot encounters after which Dalton has always left.  Now he wants her to believe he has changed but she isn't sure she can afford to let him break her heart again.  This Redneck Romeo is going to have to bring out his a-game if he wants to win his Juliette.

Lorelei James is the Queen of sexy cowboy romance.  This book is proof positive that she can keep it coming just as hot as ever with a story that will have you staying up late to finish.  I hope we get to check in with the McKays in the future.

Marine Ever After (Always a Marine #14) by Heather Long

Blurb:
Marine Paul Torres is used to the casual thing, women who enjoy the pleasure of the moment and whom he can bed with a wink and a smile.  Lately though, he’s turned on by the allure of finding the right partner for him with so many of his friends settling down.  Attending a wedding in Texas for one of his oldest friends, he meets Lillianna Hansen.
Paul and Lillianna get off on the wrong foot, enjoying a wildly passionate encounter after the wedding. He wakes to find her gone, but still tries to track down her number. Paul wants more than a one-night stand, but his limited leave is up and must return to active duty.
He might be ready to take their relationship to another level, but all Lillianna thought she wanted was a good time. But Paul’s attention—even from thousands miles away—is hard to resist and while she tells herself repeatedly she doesn't want a relationship with a Marine, she can’t deny the consequences of their passionate night.
And when she finally does reach out, it’s to confess she’s pregnant, and she has to figure out if she’s ready to let the father of her child be her Marine ever after…

My review:

Paul is a slick Latin lover but his night with Lillianna leaves him wanting more than a one night stand.  As an Army brat Lillianna knows what the military lifestyle is and wants nothing to do with it.  Paul needs to convince Lillianna that loving a Marine is not the same as being an Army brat.  Some folks write military romance and gloss over the reality of loving someone who serves at the convenience of the government.  It isn't easy.  There are separations, odd hours, moving, anxiety over duty and duty stations, leaving friends, making new friends, etc.  It is hard to put all of that into a love story but Heather Long not only does it she makes it part of the romance.  This is a fantastic series and each story seems to get better and better.

Undying Destiny by Jessica Lee

Entangled Publishing - June 2013

Kenric St. James is out for revenge. Over 300 years ago, an ancient female vampire turned him against his will and killed the woman he loved. He’s spent more than a century building an Enclave of warrior vampires who have sworn to defend humanity against his evil sire and her minions. But when Kenric finds a woman he finally burns to claim as his own again, Kenric knows loving her means giving his sire another target.

Emily Ross just wanted a fresh start. She’s a survivor, coming off the tail end of an abusive relationship, and craves time alone to learn who she is and to save the home that holds her heart. The last thing she needed was a controlling, alpha male calling all the shots.

Meeting Kenric might just have changed her mind, though. He is wrong for her in all the right ways. But in order to keep her heart from breaking, he first has to keep the hoards of evil vamps from stealing her very breath.

Title:  Undying Destiny
Author: Jessica Lee
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Release Date: June 2013

My Review:
Jessica Lee is a “new to me” author but won my attention with this book.  I shall be looking for future installments of The Enclave series and will be checking out her back list.
Undying Destiny tells the tale of Kenric St. James.  Kenric is a 300 year old vampire.  He was turned against his will by a now 600 year old female vampire who wanted him for her mate and to increase her power.  He escaped her clutches and formed The Enclave a group of warrior vampires dedicated to keeping humans safe and safeguarding the secret of vampire existence.  When he is hurt in an attack he is rushed to the hospital by an unknowing human female nurse named Emily Ross who may just be what this old vampire needs to live again.
Fans of Lara Adrian’s Breed series will love this book.  Alpha males, smart sassy women, love, hate, jealousy, mystery, intrigue, loyalty and treachery this story has it all.  This is a series to watch.

I received this ARC copy of Undying Destiny from Entangled Publishing in exchange for a honest review.

Author Information

Almost every author's bio states they've been writing since they learned how to read. It's what they've always wanted to do. Well, my journey wasn't so straight and narrow. I was a nurse for over twenty years and hold a bachelor's degree in science with a major in biology. So as you can see, my career path had originally gone in the opposite direction. I didn't discover my passion for the craft until after I'd had my son and decided to work part-time.
I've always loved to read but had never read a paranormal romance. Then one night at work on break, I began reading Karen Marie Moning's Spell of the Highlander. I couldn't believe what I'd been missing, and I immediately fell in love with the genre.
I wanted to write like that. I wanted to create worlds where others could find the same escape and fascination I did when I read my first sensual paranormal romance.
And I hope that's what I've accomplished in my work. Please dive in, hold on tight, and enjoy the adventure. Just be careful in the dark—you might find more than you expected waiting for you there.
Jessica Lee lives in the southeastern United States with her husband and son. She loves writing and can't wait for that quiet time each day when her son is in school, and she can get lost in another place and world with the fantastical, sexy creatures in her head.

Dream Nights with the CEO
by Kathy Lyons
Entangled Publishing May 2013

Today I’m doing something a little different.  I read and enjoyed Dream Nights with the CEO by Kathy Lyons so much that I agreed to be part of her blog tour to promote it.  Be sure to check out the Rafflecopter Giveaway at the bottom and tell your friends.

Dream Nights BCC:
Hotel chain CEO and millionaire Wyatt Monroe is a stick in the mud. Sure, he's hot as sin, even with the tie, but free-spirited assistant Megan Bradford refuses to jeopardize their perfect working relationship. Why mess that up with sex? She knows he's the love 'em and leave 'em type, and she's determined to find a family man.
Wyatt would never cross the line between boss and employee with Megan, no matter how hard it might be to resist the temptation. But when they visit a mysterious B&B in a bid to acquire the property, he starts having erotic dreams about the sexy brunette that make it hard to resist her in daylight.
Soon the line between reality and dreams further blurs when they learn they were sharing the same erotic dreams…

Kathy Lyons Bio (aka Jade Lee):
A USA Today Bestseller, JADE LEE has been scripting love stories since she first picked up a set of paper dolls. Ball gowns and rakish lords caught her attention early (thank you Georgette Heyer), and her fascination with the Regency began. And as a Taurus, she lives to pit a headstrong woman against a tortured hero just to watch them butt heads on the way to true love. Flesh wounds are rare, but the healing and laughter are real.
Now an author of more than 30 romance novels, she finally gets to set these couples in the best girl-heaven of all: a Bridal Salon! This way she gets to live out all her wedding fantasies, one by one. (Let’s be honest, what girl has only one idea for her dream wedding?)
And don’t forget Jade’s other name, KATHY LYONS. That’s Jade’s lighter, contemporary side she’s writing for Entangled Publishing and what Dream Nights is all about!  For more on Kathy visit her on her website, Facebook, or Twitter.

My take on Dream Nights with the CEO: A Secret Desires Novel by Kathy Lyons -

The CEO & his Personal Assistant with a twist.  Hotel chain CEO Wyatt Monroe has had a crush on his PA Megan Bradford since he met her.  She has worked for him for three years when they take a work trip to a haunted B&B.  They start sharing increasingly intimate dreams.  Can they make those dreams a reality without ruining their working relationship?
This is a terrific contemporary romance with a touch of the paranormal.  Ghosts, shared dreams and action heroes can be super sexy.  Who knew?  The author took a played out trope and made it exciting and new.  I look forward to seeing what comes next in this new series.
