Rolling in the Deep (Women of the Fold Book 5) by Terri A. Wilson

Blurb:

Evangeline Coral has a problem. She needs a boyfriend, stat. But it’s not like she can call dial-a-boy. So when a hot shark enters her life, her best friend talks her into taking him to the Deep Blue Seas Expo. It was supposed to be just for show and just for the weekend. But she gets way more than she bargained for when he forces her to deal with past issues she buried a long time ago.

Max Waters had a strong sense of protection, making him a good security officer for The Fold, but it’s also why he lost his job. Now, he has the perfect life as the owner of The Great White. And then a beautiful, distraught mermaid walked into his bar. She needs a boyfriend to introduce to her family, and Max eagerly volunteers as the gentleman he is. But this weekend will turn out to be way more than the casual friends-with-benefits relationships he’s used to.

My review:

This book had me empathizing with Evangeline a mermaid who can’t shift her legs. A work-a-holic perfectionist that has poured her heart into making it on land and in business. She is about to deal with her dysfunctional family and she wants to prove to them that despite her disability she is doing fantastically well.

Shark shifter Max is in his second career. From Fold security to coffee/bar owner. When Evangeline dumps her cheating boyfriend in front of his place of business, he is driven to see her smile again.

I really loved watching Evangeline’s world view shift and Max discover he can be a one woman man.

Though this is part of a series it can be read stand alone.
