My review:

This story gathers characters from LK Shaw’s Secrets series and lets you know where they are at in their relationships and what they are wishing for this holiday season. Of course there is a whole lot of hot sex mixed with the love. This story will leave you with a smile across your face and sweat across your brow. Although this story takes place in an established series it can be read stand alone.

Sweet Tea and Sympathy (Southern Eclectic #1) by Molly Harper

Blurb:
Beloved author Molly Harper launches a brand-new contemporary romance series, Southern Eclectic, with this story of a big-city party planner who finds true love in a small Georgia town.

Nestled on the shore of Lake Sackett, Georgia is the McCready Family Funeral Home and Bait Shop. (What, you have a problem with one-stop shopping?) Two McCready brothers started two separate businesses in the same building back in 1928, and now it’s become one big family affair. And true to form in small Southern towns, family business becomes everybody’s business.

Margot Cary has spent her life immersed in everything Lake Sackett is not. As an elite event planner, Margot’s rubbed elbows with the cream of Chicago society, and made elegance and glamour her business. She’s riding high until one event goes tragically, spectacularly wrong. Now she’s blackballed by the gala set and in dire need of a fresh start—and apparently the McCreadys are in need of an event planner with a tarnished reputation.

As Margot finds her footing in a town where everybody knows not only your name, but what you had for dinner last Saturday night and what you’ll wear to church on Sunday morning, she grudgingly has to admit that there are some things Lake Sackett does better than Chicago—including the dating prospects. Elementary school principal Kyle Archer is a fellow fish-out-of-water who volunteers to show Margot the picture-postcard side of Southern living. The two of them hit it off, but not everybody is happy to see an outsider snapping up one of the town's most eligible gentleman. Will Margot reel in her handsome fish, or will she have to release her latest catch?

My review:
Sweet Tea and Sympathy is Molly Harper’s new laugh out loud sweet southern romance.
Take a big city girl and place her in her estranged families compound in Lake Sackett Georgia, introduce her to family and the locals including the elementary school principal and it is like watching an alien come to earth. There is culture shock but there is also love and fraternity. Margot is finding out what is important to her and is discovering that small town life has its perks even if they don’t have Starbucks.
As a big city girl who now lives in Georgia I could so relate to this story. I laughed so hard I interrupted the guys watching the game. I look forward to future visits to the McCready Family Funeral Home and Bait Shop.

Murder on the Sugarland Express (Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries #6) by Angie Fox

Murder on the Sugarland Express (Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries #6) by Angie Fox

Blurb:
Verity Long is overdue for a little R&R (rest and romance) with her boyfriend Ellis, and a vintage train trip through the Tennessee mountains seems like just the ticket. The Sugarland Express carries history and nostalgia in every compartment, and Verity is determined to enjoy it—without ghostly interference. But the ghosts have other plans…

On a dark, desolate night nearly a century ago, the train was stranded in the mountains and a young woman was found stabbed to death in her locked compartment. The murder was never solved, and a ghostly Belgian detective is still pursuing the case from the grave.

To Verity’s dismay, all of the ghostly suspects are back. And when history repeats itself and a new murder mirrors the old, it’s up to Verity and her friends to discover which of the passengers—dead or alive—could be behind the murders before the killer strikes again.

My review:
Verity Long is back and she can’t help but get embroiled in a mystery even on a train. Verity and Ellis need to get away from it all so they plan a romantic getaway aboard the Sugarland Express. Gangster ghost Frankie cons his way aboard with his latest flame Molly. You would think they would be safe from mystery but they manage to get involved in not one but two mysteries. Each will captivate your attention and keep you guessing. This is a fantastic addition to the series.

Spy Games by Sidney Bristol

Blurb:

Haunted by the mistakes he made while fighting for his country, Rand Duncan has become the CIA’s go to man for tough jobs in an effort to atone for his sins. Late-night phone calls and covert meetings are the norm. Until she arrives and his past crashes into his present.

Sarah Collins never thought she’d see her brother’s former best friend again. But one of Sarah’s fellow undercover informants has been captured and the briefcase containing the identities and locations of twelve other operatives are in Chinese hands. If Sarah and Rand can’t retrieve the documents, people will die.

The shock wears off quick as the two must figure out how to retrieve the briefcase before it can be opened or sold. If they want to save lives, they must confront their past, while avoiding an enemy that will stop at nothing to crush them.

My review:

Romantic suspense fun. Rand Duncan is an angsty CIA operative who finds his former best friends little sister and his childhood crush is the courier who has been leaving him notes. But when she is burned it is up to him to keep her safe. Can he keep his heart safe?
Spy Games is high octane love and adventure. An exciting adventure that will keep you enthralled.

TIED UP FOR CHRISTMAS by Desiree Holt
Dealing with a messy and humiliating breakup with her Dom, Bree Donovan welcomed the invitation to leave Chicago for a meeting in Texas. An impulsive attendance at a private BDSM gathering wiped all other thoughts from her mind the moment Rafe Morales claimed her as his for the evening…and maybe beyond.

THE DOMINANT WISH by Robin L. Rotham
Once upon a time, Grace Kendrick loved a dominant man. But when Jared McLain asked for more than she was ready to give, she ran away...and paid dearly for thirty years. Now a birthday wish has landed her in the past and back in Jared's bed, and this time there's nothing she won't do for him. (This book was previously published as Seniorella. It's been retitled, revised and expanded.)

But there's a catch. The clock is ticking on Grace's youthful new body and she has only a few hours to explore the erotic delights of her own submission with Jared and his best friend Alec before the clock strikes twelve, returning her to a lonely future. How stupid to wish for just one more night--she should have gone for happily ever after!

Fortunately, fairy godmothers usually have contingency plans...

WINTER SOLSTICE by Eden Bradley
Do soul mates truly exist? A chance reading with a psychic on Winter Solstice eve has Destiny Walker wondering. When she runs into the gorgeous Reece Kellan, their sizzling connection goes deeper than mind and body—but is it really fate, or simply the most intense sensual experience either of them has ever had?

REMEMBER WHEN by SL Carpenter
Sometimes memories of the past hold lessons for the future. Bride-to-be Pam learns hers as she spends some down time with her Grandma—a woman who sure knows how to tell a spicy, funny tale. Lust, laughter and love...Pam will hear reminiscences of all three. And understand why the most important of all is love.

UNDONE TOY by Lila Dubois
Kiara is happy to model for a winter wonderland BDSM photoshoot, until she learns that the man who will be topping her is the only man she's ever called Master. Ice is cold, but the scenes they perform are scorching, and in the end she'll have to decide if she can overcome her fear of the past, and risk her heart for a chance at love.

CLAIMING TINY: A Charon MC Novella by Khloe Wren
Badass biker Ryan ‘Tiny’ Nelson has no plans to settle down. But when the feisty Mercedes ‘Missy’ Soto shows up at the Charon MC clubhouse, it only takes one taste before they’re both hooked. When Missy’s past catches up with her and she goes on the run, can Tiny find the woman he’s fallen for in time to give her a Christmas to remember, or is she lost to him forever?

A SECRET CHRISTMAS by LK Shaw
Four couples all want something different for Christmas this year. Penny and Marcus want a baby, Connor and Bridget need to feed their sadist and masochist sides, Miles want to marry Josie, and Phebe is ready to fully submit to Donovan. With sex so hot it'll melt the winter snow, A Secret Christmas will have you begging for more.

RIO: Christmas in Paradise by Sabrina Sol
When workaholic CFO Chase Simon is forced to take a tropical Christmas vacation, he sure as hell doesn't expect to enjoy it. But when he finds out that he'll be spending the next seven days with Rio, a sexy celebrity dancer from his past, his doubts begin to fade.

My review:

Feeling cold? These nine stories will warm more than the cockles of your heart.
TIED UP FOR CHRISTMAS by Desiree Holt.
If it’s from Desiree Holt you know it is going to be sexy as hell and this one is no different. This story has a Domme and a Dom butting heads and pretty much everything else. Keep a cold drink handy.
THE DOMINANT WISH by Robin L. Rotham
This story will have you believing in second chances. Sweet and spicy.
WINTER SOLSTICE by Eden Bradley
Eden Bradley has you believing in holiday miracles by the end of this smoking hot story.
REMEMBER WHEN by SL Carpenter
This story had me laughing, blushing and sweating.
UNDONE TOY by Lila Dubois
Want to see a Dom grovel? That’s what happens in this second chance romance.
CLAIMING TINY: A Charon MC Novella by Khloe Wren
Although this story takes place in an established series it can be read stand alone.
A SECRET CHRISTMAS by LK Shaw
This story gathers characters from LK Shaw’s Secrets series and lets you know where they are at in their relationships and what they are wishing for this holiday season. Of course there is a whole lot of hot sex mixed with the love. This story will leave you with a smile across your face and sweat across your brow. Although this story takes place in an established series it can be read stand alone.
RIO: Christmas in Paradise by Sabrina Sol
Workaholic CFO Chase Simon is forced to take a vacation for his health. It gives him an opportunity to right a wrong and maybe find happiness.

This box set is hot as fire and filled with hope for the holidays. Lots of steamy romance to fill your dreams and make Santa blush.

The Magician's Keeper by Nicola E. Sheridan

Blurb:
A brand new steamy paranormal romance about learning to love all of yourself.

In a world where people judge one another by exacting standards of size and style, being a big girl like Eudora Splat was never going to be easy.

Though trouble is brewing between magic folk and human purists who would see them all destroyed, Dora, a half-giant, tries to eke out a quiet, unnoticed life for herself, but it’s hard to be subtle when you’re over seven feet tall.

Losing her job as a gardener due to human complaints, Dora is recruited as a prison guard, where she’s enlisted to protect the magician Evander “Bear” Gordon from human purist attack. Bear encourages her to embrace her power and celebrate her heritage, introducing her to a world where she can be extraordinary and not just weird.

But after years of hiding and shying away, can Dora find the strength to grab onto a new life — and hold on to the man she’s falling in love with?

My review:
The Magician's Keeper takes place in a world where humans and magical beings find themselves at odds and there are extremists on both sides. I liked our heroine, half giant, Eudora Splat although I found it odd that she could be so strong sometimes and so wishy washy at others. The magician Evander “Bear” Gordon was okay but could really have used a better sense of humor.  All in all I enjoyed the book but must admit it took a bit to finish. Fans of UF romance might want to give it a try.

Justice for Erin (Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes #9) by Susan Stoker

Blurb:

Part-time bartender Erin Gardner is friendly to everyone who bellies up to her bar, including the local law enforcement and firefighters who keep her city safe. That’s where she meets game warden Conor Paxton, a regular who she asks to join a canoeing trip she’s leading for her university day job. When the trip leads to something more, Erin couldn’t be happier.

Conor adores Erin, more than enough to help her continue to get over lingering self-esteem issues from her childhood. He’s thrilled he’s found someone who enjoys spending time in nature as much as he does.

Just when the couple thinks they’re on their way to a happily ever after, Erin finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. But there’s no way she’ll just lay down and die. She’s woman enough to save herself—and lead her man to her when she’s done.

** Justice for Erin is the 9th book in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

My review:
I LOVED THIS STORY! Erin is an incredibly strong woman and Conor is proof that not all men are assholes. This story made me laugh, cry and sigh. It will leave you thinking long past the last page. I highly recommend.

Finn’s sexy little brother gets his girl. The Heartbreaker Bay gang is together at a B&B for Finn & Pru’s Christmastime wedding. I totally enjoyed seeing the gang outside San Francisco and seeing Sean come into his own. Sweet romantic fun.

This one is for the fans. Get together with the cast of the SCVC Taskforce Series and watch them save Christmas. We get a peek at the couples outside of work and see how they are coming along. This is a sweet fun read.

Eclipsed Heart (Apocalypse Rising) (Volume 1) by Dagmar Avery and K. Margaret

Blurb:
The Apocalypse is coming. The Brotherhood has watched and protected this world from the oncoming darkness for as long as time has existed. Each age brings a new threat, a new way for the darkness to eclipse the light forever. It has been over five hundred years since the last major trials, and the world is due. Isaac Tsagakis dreams of the end, and the woman he must find. Beautiful and perfect, she is the first of four that is needed to ensure the world does not end, and humanity isn't thrust into the depths of an unimaginable hell. But finding her in a city as large as Savannah, Georgia is going to be like finding a needle in a haystack. He needs to find her, bond with her and keep her for always. And he is ready. Magnolia Morgan has no idea just how special she is. A librarian obsessed with the ancient world, she stumbles onto her wildest dreams just talking to Isaac one night. A man she would never consider talking to her, she is enraptured and excited that for once, her normal dull existence is going to be shaken up by the sexy bar owner who kisses like the devil. But other forces are at work against the Brotherhood, forces that have been working in the shadows, watching, planning...and they want Maggie as well. Isaac is going to have to rely on all his strength and experience to ensure she becomes his for all time because the fate of the world is in her hands.

My review:
Eclipsed Heart is the first in what looks to be an exciting new series. Fans of The Brotherhood and The Breed should rock out on these guys.
Isaac and his band of brothers are warriors whose purpose is to keep the apocalypse from occurring but of course there are bad guys who want it to happen so they can build a new world from the ashes. The prophecy has the brothers finding their soulmates as part of their strength for the coming battles. I love a brainy guy and Isaac just did it for me. Mags Morgan is a lucky girl. That being said I really look forward to seeing Gunnar fall.
This book deals with dark times but isn’t a dark read. I read this book in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Prince's Game (Mershano Empire #1) by Lexi C. Foss

Blurb:
There’s only one way to get a “happily-ever-after,”
And that’s by winning the game.

My twin sister thinks she’s so damn funny with her pranks,
But I’m not laughing.
Entering me into a dating reality show,
The Prince’s Game,
Isn’t all that hysterical.

But this particular joke has quite the twist.
The billionaire bachelor, Evan Mershano, has no interest in marriage.
With his family breathing down his neck, he’s desperate for a way out,
And I happen to be the perfect damsel to save this prince.

It’s a simple arrangement: play to win, and he’ll make it worth my while.
But what started out as a silly farce,
Just might be the fairytale we never expected.

My review:
The Prince's Game is a new spin on an old trope and the author nails it! Evan Mershano is wealthy but has seen his parents farce of a marriage and so has no interest in the institution. Unfortunately there is that pesky clause that says his parent can take the family business away and give it to someone else if he isn’t married by a certain age. That date is creeping closer so he agrees to be on a reality dating show.
Sarah Summers has a life plan. She has been working toward owning her own marketing company someday. To do that she will need references and experience. Taking time off for a dating show is not in her plans. When her twin sister sets her up she has to go. She never expected Evan Mershano.
While the plot is predictable the author makes it so much fun you enjoy the trip anyway.

Vows (Duvall Inc) by Stella and Audra Price

Blurb:
Janey Duvall's life has changed so much in such a small amount of time. Now both Crown Princess and mother to the first female born to a Djinn in memory, she needs one more thing to complete her happy ending--- the wedding Marsh promised her. Marsh, left with the considerable task of creating the wedding of his consort's dreams is sure events like this are how men go grey. From the guest list of extremely volatile people, to his father's idea of what a gentleman's party should be, to a trouble making wife of one of his friends, he has his hands full. But Janey's happiness is paramount, and when Trent has yet to show up and they find out the ring has gone 'missing", he is going to have to pull out all the stops to achieve perfection. But a surprise the night of will being it all together... a surprise that brings more questions than ever.

My review:
Vows is a fun, twisted, sexy story about an unusual couple and their wedding. The guests are insane but they all come together with their own motivations to Marsh and Janey’s destination wedding. It’s better if you’ve read the earlier Duvall Inc. books. I really got a kick out of the madness and if you’ve read the earlier books so will you.

Alpha Bet by Milly Taiden

Blurb:

Nerd Queen, Aliya Grey, has been picked on her entire life for being different. She is done with shifter society. When the chance comes to leave the pack, she jumps for joy. But she didn’t expect that during the exchange of power ceremony, the super-hot and totally lickable, incoming Alpha would tell her he wants her. That doesn’t happen to Ali. Nope. Never.

Marcus and his wolf know Aliya is the one. Giving up his playboy lifestyle attests to how badly he wants her. Ali might be a half-breed, but that doesn’t matter. No way is he letting her leave. A little stalking, a bit of seduction and a whole lot of time together will get her to change her mind. He’s confident.

Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as romancing her. Ali’s done with the pack from hell and no matter how sexy Marcus is, she’s out of there. But first she needs to see him naked. He’s so big and strong and that grin…but she’s not staying. It takes an attack on Ali’s life for Marcus to see his pack has big issues he needs to fix or lose Ali for good.

My review:

HOLY MOLEY! This may be my favorite Milly Taiden book ever and that’s saying something. This story moved me on so many levels. Alpha Bet is a book about opposites. The fluffy brainiac and the prep jock. Aliya is super smart and half human. Marcus is her best friends older brother, the new alpha, hot as hades and all wolf. Marcus is totally oblivious to the hell that has been Ali’s life in the pack. She has been picked on for her brains, her shape but mostly because she is a half-breed. When she is offered a job working on the Mars project for NASA she is so headed for Houston. Marcus has to find a way to make her want to stay as his mate. This is a moving story with lots of steamy sex and occasional comedic relief. I highly recommend.

Death, Taxes, and a Shotgun Wedding (Tara Holloway #12) by Diane Kelly

Blurb:

LOVE BEGINS--AND ENDS--WITH A BANG.
For IRS Special Agent Tara Holloway, this case is personal...
Wedding bells are ringing as Tara and her soon-to-be-husband Nick prepare for their big day. But along with all the RSVP cards are a series of death threats from an unknown source. The culprit must be someone from an earlier investigation--a white-collar criminal with a red-hot grudge--but Tara has run across too many lawbreakers to narrow down the search. And time, like her biological clock, is ticking.

Now, while dodging attempts on her life, Tara also finds herself embroiled in a rental scam in which a heartless crook is ripping people off left and right. Will she be able to track down the con artist and make it down the aisle in one piece? Or will "til death do us part" come before Tara can even say "I do"?

My review:

I came late to this series but really enjoyed it once I found it. People don’t usually think of IRS Special Agents as heroes but in this series IRS Special Agents Tara & Nick show us that even the IRS has a heart.
Death, Taxes, and a Shotgun Wedding is the bittersweet ending to this series but the author does them justice and doesn’t make it easy on either her characters or her readers.  Tara and Nick’s wedding date is approaching and Tara has a death threat hanging over her head. Which of her past cases has come back to steal her happiness? Read this and find out. I will miss Tara & Nick but I really enjoyed their exit.

Hawaiian Holidays by Melissa Schroeder

Blurb:

Three stories of menage romance all set against Hawaii during the holidays!

Mele Kalikimaka, Baby

When Sophia Cantwell gets stuck in Hawaii working on Christmas, she isn’t too happy. She doesn’t like trying to buy land from a Hawaiian family, especially when she is convinced her company isn’t being ethical. When she is confronted by cousins Maleko and Jack Akaka at the airport, the landowner’s grandsons, she doesn’t expect the jolt of arousal, or the instant attraction. And she doesn’t expect that they would insist that she stay at the family condos.

Mal and Jack have shared women before, have thought about getting that one special woman for the two of them. Both of them are surprised that she turns out to be an uptight corporate go getter. But, the three of them cannot ignore their attraction, and a night out in Honolulu turns into a night in bed for all of them. Sex on the Beach

Edwina Mitchell, Eddie to her friends, doesn’t think she can have a happily ever after. She grew up with multiple fathers and never wanted to do that to a child. The problem is, she’s in love with two men from her past. When she runs into them in Hawaii, she thinks it is just another carefree weekend, but the guys got another plan.

Drew Masterson and Sean Childress have served their country and now they’re ready to enjoy life. That means opening a dive shop and finding the woman they both love, Eddie Mitchell. When they get a second chance with her, they refuse to fail. With New Year’s Eve approaching, they decide to do everything in their power to convince her she is the one for them.

Getting Leid

Maribelle has always been unlucky in love. Bad relationships, bad men, just nothing good. The latest guy is her fiancé, who she found cheating on her at the chapel with her cousin. After dumping him at the altar, Maribelle swears off love. To mend her broken heart she goes to Hawaii to visit her friends Eddie and Sophia. She never expected Damon and Alex to follow her with seduction on their minds, and she never expected them to want forever.

Damon and Alex have been in love with Maribelle for years. When Damon’s stupid brother loses her because of his cheating ways, the best friends decide it’s time to let Maribelle know just how they feel. Seducing her is easy, but convincing her to stay with them is going to be a challenge—one thing neither man has ever backed down from.

My review:
Three sweet and smoking hot m/f/m ménage tales that happen to take place around the holidays. Sophia, Eddie and Maribelle may be as different as day and night but they are best friends. In these three stories they each find their happiness with not one but two hot heroes that fit each of them perfectly.
I loved each of these stories but if I had to pick a favorite it would have to be Sex on the Beach. Seeing Eddie have her world view shifted was fun to read. Each of these stories requires a cold drink and some privacy.

Wolf Hollow (Wolf Hollow Shifters, Book 1) by Nikki Jefford

Blurb:
A REBELLIOUS OUTCAST

Cocky. Coy. Wolf shifter. Tabor is the hollow’s only half-breed, scorned and forbidden to use his powers. Constantly overlooked despite his strengths, Tabor believes Sasha is as shortsighted as the rest of the pack until she proves there’s more to her than a blindly obedient lapdog to the council.

A DUTIFUL PUREBLOOD

Spirited, stubborn, and deeply loyal, Sasha feels the pressure from her pack to claim another pureblood, yet no one is brazen enough to defy the elders and toy with her . . . no one besides a sexy, hotheaded half-breed.

AN ATTRACTION THAT THREATENS THE FUTURE OF THE PACK

Bewildered by the deceptively proud and surprisingly sensual Sasha, Tabor would risk everything to claim her. Despite her vanishing bloodline, Sasha can’t resist the charismatic half-breed even as predators threaten their pack and the elders pressure her to breed with a pureblood.

In a fantastical post-apocalyptic world, where only the strongest survive, sometimes trusting the heart is the bravest act of all.

*Wolf Hollow is an adult fantasy romance.

My review:
Wolf Hollow is the first in a new series by new to me author Nikki Jefford. This fantasy romance takes place in a post apocalyptic world where shifters and wizards are real and humans have been about wiped out by a health crisis. The world building was great and Tabor and Sasha will make you laugh and groan and sigh. As with any world politics will make you want to pull your hair out but you never stop rooting for the little guy. This book is filled with surprises and lots of love.

And Sailor Bishop has wickedness on his mind.

As Ísa starts to fall for a man who makes her want to throttle and pounce on him at the same time, she knows she has to choose – play it safe and steady, or risk all her dreams and hope Sailor doesn’t destroy her heart.

My review:
I fell head over heels for Sailor Bishop and Ísa Rain. On paper these two look to be total opposites but are more alike than they even know. They are perfect for each other and I truly enjoyed watching them find each other. This book is everything good about a romance and will leave you with a smile.

Securing Arizona by Heather Long

Blurb:

James “Mickey” MacBride retired from the teams with a solid record of mission accomplished. Now at odds and ends, he accepts the request of his retired Petty Officer grandfather. They want to gather the children of the USS Arizona—the descendants of the 355 survivors—for a special event. No problem, how hard can finding one woman named Arizona Kensington be?

Ari King has been on the run for over a year. No matter where she goes, her stalker finds her. She’s changed her name, her hair color, and even gave up the job she loved. When Mickey walks into the restaurant and asks for her by the name she surrendered, she takes his order then leaves via the back door, running for her life. Only she can’t shake him.

Securing Arizona was supposed to be a favor, but Mickey soon discovers it’s the mission of his life, and the men after her will have to go through this SEAL to get her.

My review:

Securing Arizona reads like an action adventure television show. I found myself seeing what the characters saw and feeling what they felt as I got so involved with Mickey and Arizona and their adventures. This book is short, intense and absolutely fantastic.

Scarlett by Elle Klass

Blurb:

This series was spawned from the Ruthless Storm Trilogy.

I was Evan O’Conner’s first victim. Nov. 5, 1954, at 7:01 p.m. I entered the world, unwanted and uncherished. My mother was raped at 15 by Evan’s grandfather. Distraught and full of hate. A hate I now understand. She gave me up and I spent my tender years in foster care.

At age 17, I met my biological sister, Philmonia, born from the same father. Young and naïve I thought I’d finally found family. She was married to a wealthy man, Evan O’Conner Sr. They promised me a fairy tale life. I swooned and fell into their trap. My princess life was stopped short and became my prison.

They perpetrated unspeakable crimes against me. The worst was inseminating me with the sperm that gave life to a monster that grew inside me. I tried to abort the fetus but he clung to my uterus like a leech. The demonic seed grew and grew inside my womb for nine months. The monster’s fingers clawed against my insides. His feet kicked against my bladder and his soul ate at my heart, turning it black with hate. The little demon ball of cells clung inside me, refusing my wishes until he was ready. He was in control even then. My hate deepened each day for the devil inside me.

A child created by lust and scientific experimentation developed into a monster so cruel, so vile he’ll never be forgotten.

When my contractions started I pushed with everything I had to force him out of me. Finally I shed the little beast. My sister and her husband took the screaming, bald creature and held him with amazement while I shivered in relief. The little beast became the most renowned serial killer in history – The Hurricane Killer.

My name is Scarlett Jones and this is my story.

My review:
This book is not for the faint of heart. Scarlett Jones is a child begotten by rape. Her life is harsh and she is forced to make some hard choices. There are some pretty scary moments but there are some sweet moments too. If you like psychics and horror this is a book you should check out.

Chasing Christmas Eve (Heartbreaker Bay #4) by Jill Shalvis

Blurb:

Meet cute...

Run for the hills—temporarily. That's Colbie Albright's plan when she flees New York for San Francisco. Wrangling her crazy family by day and writing a bestselling YA fantasy series by night has taken its toll. In short, Colbie's so over it that she's under it. She's also under the waters of a historic San Francisco fountain within an hour of arrival. Fortunately, the guy who fishes Colbie out has her looking forward to Christmas among strangers. But she's pretty sure Spencer Baldwin won't be a stranger for long.

Make merry...

Spence's commitment to hiding from the Ghosts of Relationships Past means he doesn't have to worry about the powerful—okay, crazy hot chemistry—he's got with Colbie. Just because she can laugh at anything, especially herself... just because she's gorgeous and a great listener just because she gets Spence immediately doesn't mean he won't be able to let Colbie go. Does it?

and hope for a miracle.

Now the clock's ticking for Colbie and Spence: Two weeks to cut loose. Two weeks to fall hard. Two weeks to figure out how to make this Christmas last a lifetime.

My review:

Jill Shalvis is a go to author if you want a feel good romance.  No matter how dark the circumstance or character she gives you something to laugh about. In Chasing Christmas Eve she takes two socially awkward people and throws them together in a “friends with benefits” situation with a time limit. I laughed from the first page to the last. Spence was geeky hot and Colbie was sweet as can be. I really enjoyed my visit to San Francisco and look forward to many returns.

An Elegant Weapon by Candace Blevins

An Elegant Weapon (The Dark Underbelly of The Chattanooga Supernaturals #4)
by Candace Blevins

Blurb:
Life becomes hell when The Abbott gives Holly to the sadistic Bran, but she survives because there’s no other option.

This novella picks up on Holly’s part of the story in UNLEASHED. It’s recommended you read these two books together.

My review:
Everyone responds to different stimuli. Holly is a junkie who didn’t respond well to Abbott and Spencer’s kindness perhaps Bran can give her what she needs. Bran tears her down and rebuilds her into the woman he knows she can be. The process is often painful and degrading but so is the life of a junkie. Bran makes her want more. If you want pretty this book isn’t for you if you want gritty then this fits the bill. This author takes me places I’ve never been before and gives me things to ponder.
