A.L.F.A. Mates (A.L.F.A. #1-2) by Milly Taiden

Blurb:

The Alpha League Federal Agency is sworn to protect humanity from paranormal threats and now the first two novels in New York Times bestselling author Milly Taiden's sexy A.L.F.A. series are available for the first time in one print volume!

ELEMENTAL MATING
Brilliant scientist Melinda Caster has discovered a new strain of the Zika virus that stimulates synaptic growth in embryos, causing neuron development beyond normal human levels. When her lab is broken into, Melinda realizes that someone has been keeping tabs on her research and wants it for themselves. A.L.F.A. sends in jaguar-shifter Agent Parish Hamel to help Melinda discover who is after the virus and why. But the attraction between Parish and Melinda may be the real discovery.

MATING NEEDS
Amerella Capone is the great-grandniece of the infamous Al Capone, and she won't let anyone in the Las Vegas Mafia forget it. When Amerella unintentionally stumbles upon bad family business that she wants no part of, she becomes a star witness for a high-profile government case. A.L.F.A. is called in to keep Amerella safe, but cougar-shifter Agent François Dubois has history with his charge, and the secrets between them might do more damage than any gun pointed at his head.

My review:
Two fun books in one volume.
ELEMENTAL MATING
I love that this book takes place in Uganda. I absolutely adore the fact that our heroine, Melinda, is a gifted scientist. I liked the mix of science and paranormal. I enjoyed the story. I just wish I could have felt the attraction between jaguar-shifter Agent Parish Hamel and Melinda more. It felt a little forced to me which is not usually an issue in this authors work.
MATING NEEDS
Whatever issues the author had in the first book were cleared up by the time she wrote this one. This is a fabulous read. Amerella Capone is feisty and sweet. Her son is adorable. All she needs is to let her mate cougar-shifter Agent François Dubois back into her heart. In this book it may very well take a village to get these two back together again.
