Finding Mr. Write by Kelley Armstrong

Blurb:

Daphne McFadden already knows that as a female author, the cards are stacked against her. Now she knows just how much. Because her sudden whim to pose as an “outdoorsy hunk of masculinity” male author for her new book just resulted in the unthinkable: a bidding war, a huge book deal, and the kind of fame every author dreams of. Now she’s in big trouble. Because she needs to convince the world that Zane Remington actually exists . . . but how?

By hiring an actor, of course.

Only Chris Stanton is not an actor—not officially. He’s used to balancing the books, not pretending he wrote one. Still, he’s
mostly certain he can pose as some overly macho bro-author. But when the media descend on Daphne’s gorgeous remote home in the Yukon, it’s not enough for Chris to just be the face of Zane Remington—he’ll have to become him. All while hilariously balancing the terrifying dangers of the wilderness, a massive femme fandom, and a serious crush on Daphne. But as the hype circus gets more out of control, it’s just a matter of time before someone discovers their little write lie . . .

My review:

Romantic comedy is not what I usually read by Kelley Armstrong. But as usual she does an amazing job. Finding Mr. Write is an adorable romcom with a serious subplot. Chris had me rolling with his over the top performance as Zane and I empathized so much with Daphne. This book left me with a wide smile.

Cute But Prickly (Fated Mountain Lodge) by Lauren Esker, Zoe Chant

Blurb:

Too prickly to love?

After getting her heart broken, hedgehog shifter Hester just wants to get away from romance for the Valentine's Day weekend. Instead she ends up snowbound in a gorgeous mountain lodge with the most amazing man she's ever met. He's sexy. He's sweet. He's funny. He turns into a grison, the most adorable ferret-like animal she's ever seen.

And he's her fated mate.

Too bad Hester's not ready to open herself to love again. But Mauro is determined to heal her broken heart. Will one romantic, snowbound weekend be enough for this prickly little hedgehog to accept the love of a man and his weasel?

My review:

Cute But Prickly is a delightful small town shifter romance. Hester made me giggle as she shares her hedgie side with the hot handyman. I gigglesnorted my way through this delightful romp.

Malted Milk (Little Cakes Book 19) by Pepper North and Paige Michaels

Blurb:

Welcome to Little Cakes, the bakery that plays Daddy matchmaker!

From dodging a matchmaking mother to finding her dream Daddy!

Disconcerted by the handsome man who keeps watching her across the restaurant, Maya Rodriguez drops a stack of plastic glasses that clatter to the floor and draws everyone’s attention. After a quick apology, Maya gathers them up with a sigh.

There is no way Deke Monroe is going to sit and watch the curvy woman pick up the mess. Abandoning his street tacos to help, he quickly decides she’s the perfect Little for him. That spark of attraction in her eye will keep him visiting her restaurant every day until she gives him a chance.

Little Cakes is a sweet and satisfying series, but dare to taste only if you like delicious Daddies, luscious Littles, and guaranteed happily-ever-afters.

My review:

Another fun addition to the Little Cakes series. Maya is painfully shy watching her come out of her shell and blossom into her best self made my heart grow three times.

Step into the next story in the enchanting world of Whispering Pines, where a second chance at love collides with a deadly mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat!

My review:

A Second Roar for Love is the second in the Whispering Pines series. This is a series of inter-connected books that can be read stand alone. In this installment we have Ellie a witch who is returning to Whispering Pines after the death of her husband and tiger shifter and Sheriff Reed are put into the middle of a murder mystery and the rekindling of their childhood romance.

I’ve read this author for years and have loved her romances. I have been pleasantly thrilled by this series of PNR suspense. This was a terrific read.

Centaur's Little Rogue (Bratburg Daddies Book 6) by Cooper McKenzie

Blurb:

After multiple run-ins with the law, Hollister Rose is sent away to the Bratburg Institute to undergo their rigorous training program.

For some, it might seem like a punishment.

For her, it’s a breath of fresh air. A chance to escape the crushing responsibilities awaiting her back in the city, and the constant sting of her grandmother’s disappointment.

And a chance to get to know the gruff centaur shifter in charge of the animals at Bratburg. From the moment she meets Sullivan, the mating pull threatens to overwhelm her, and it’s clear he feels the same.

Even if he is a bit grumpy about it.

But even the pull of their fated bond may not be enough to save them when a sudden tragedy sends Hollister running back to the city… and the destiny that awaits her far from the comfort of her Daddy’s arms.

My review:

Poor little rich girl Hollister Rose ends up at Bratburg and finds the freedom she’s never found at home in the arms of the grumpy centaur manning the barn at Bratburg. This is a fun take on the grumpy/sunshine trope.

Secret Pucking Unicorn (Paranormal Hockey League #2) by Jenny Fenshaw

Blurb:

What do you get when a sweet-as-puck hockey playing wolf shifter with a secret is reunited with his sister’s best friend that he’s loved since childhood who has a secret of her own? The swoons.

Declan

All my life, I’ve done what is expected of me and been the perfect son and brother. But I’m tired of living by the rules others have for me and am ready to go after my own dreams. First step is being the best left winger I can be on the Atlantic City Devil Birds hockey team and earning enough money to buy my dream farm. Second step is declaring my feelings and convincing my younger sister’s best friend to give me a chance to prove I’m someone she can love. She’s off working in New Zealand, so I have time to work on the first step before having to be brave enough to take the second. Until…

Miranda

I’m tired of being alone and not feeling like I belong anywhere. My parents are dedicated to their careers, and I rarely stay anywhere long enough to form genuine connections. I want to put down roots, be near the few friends I’ve made over the years, and be part of a community. I’ve had a hopeless crush on my childhood best friend’s older brother, Declan, for years, but he’s only ever seen me as a friend. It’s time to consider looking for someone who will love me in return. When a sudden chance to work for a professional hockey team in New Jersey comes up, I jump at it without a second thought. Little did I know Declan was one of the stars until I walked into the rink. How will I be able to find someone when the only man I’ve ever wanted is front and center and focused solely on me?

Fate has a way of bringing people together. Secrets have a way of tearing them apart. Which will prevail?

Secret Pucking Unicorn is a shifter hockey romance full of humor, heart, and heat. If you want to laugh, sigh, and swoon, not necessarily in that order, with funny, sexy shifters, this is the book for you!

My review:

OMG! This book had me on an emotional roller coaster. Declan is everything you could want in a man. Sweet, supportive, a total hunk. Sigh. I loved watching prepare to claim the love he’s waited so long for. Then Sophie! Little sisters suck. I will admit to walking away and taking a breath as Mirandas parents had me screaming. I loved Declan and Miranda.
