At Her Pleasure (Mistresses of the Board Room #4) by Joey W. Hill

Blurb:

It was a night for doing stupid things...

Ten years ago, Mick should have arrested the drunk, angry woman vandalizing a cemetery. Instead, on that cold night, he yielded to her pain and rage, and let her go. Now a former cop, he’s come to New Orleans on business, which brings him face to face with the woman he never forgot.

Cynbad Marigold is a successful businesswoman and a formidable Domme, a Mistress who chooses subs who need enough pain to appease her limitless craving to give it. Most subs safeword before she goes too deep, but when Mick reappears in her life, he doesn’t want safety. In uncovering the shocking depths of his own darkness, Cyn realizes the pleasure she takes in giving pain is matched only by how much she wants to give him the home he needs…safe in the shadows of her soul.

Whose darkness will take them deeper—and will their bond keep them from going too far?

My review:

Amazing!

Cyn has never been my favorite character. Too cold, too bitchy and too sharp. A blade ready to cut anyone that deigns to displease her.  The author takes this thoroughly unpleasant character and has you liking and respecting her by the end of this book. Two things I never expected but should have.

Once again the author takes you places no sane person wants to go and has you enthralled with the visit. A fantastic addition to the series. Bring on Vera.

Born to Be Badger (Honey Badger Chronicles #5) by Shelly Laurenston

Blurb:

The Honey Badgers are at it again in the New York Times bestselling and  outstandingly witty, snarky, sexy, shape-shifting, world-building Honey Badger Chronicles. This time around, a family of clueless tiger shifter brothers have no idea how lucky they are to have caught the eye of three fierce honey badger females.

Emily “Tock” Meyerson-Jackson is on a mission to rid the world of shifters trafficking humans for hunting and cash. And now that she’s narrowed down her suspects to a brutal coalition of male lions, nothing will get between this honey badger and her prey—not even a dog-loving Tiger with absolutely no time management skills. Doesn’t matter that Shay Malone is ferociously adorable. With a war brewing between cat families, Tock doesn’t have time to lounge around with a football-playing tiger shifter. But when she realizes the coalition is also responsible for the death of Shay’s father, she’s forced to partner up with the flirtatious feline. . . .

Revenge is most definitely on the menu for Shay and his tiger shifter brothers. But when it comes to Shay’s alluring partner in crime-solving, so is seduction. Tock might be a bad-ass of a honey badger, but she’s awfully cute when she’s flashing her fangs, which she’s pretty much doing all the time these days. Good thing revenge is a dish best served hot. Because when it comes to Tock, Shay knows just how to turn up the heat. . .

My review:

Born to Be Badger is another hilarious, manic gigglefest from the fabulous Shelly Laurenston.

This action-packed installment will leave you exhausted from trying to keep up with some seriously disturbed honey badger shifters and their equally crazy friends. This story reunites us with some favorite characters from the past. There is a slow burn love interest but that is about the only thing in this book that goes slow. I literally howled with laughter. Bring on the next book.

Finn (Dublin Kings #4) by L.K. Shaw

Blurb:

I’m a member of the wealthiest and most powerful family in Dublin.
We rule the city and I can have anything I want.
Except something is missing from my life.
When I meet Teagan, I realize what it is.

Her.

From the beginning, I’m all in.
But she’s running scared from someone who hurt her and has no interest in romance or love. When he comes for her, I offer my protection.

But my family’s not without its enemies.
Danger is coming to our door and not everyone will survive.

My review:

Finn gets his happy but the manwhore is going to have to earn it. Finn is the youngest Donnelly brother who feels a bit out of place in his own family and now more so that his brothers and even his father has found love. Then he meets his sister’s bff and he is smitten. Teagen just out of an abusive relationship has sworn off men. Finn’s charm isn’t going to do it this time he is going to have to do something the Donnelly men aren’t exactly known for telling the truth.

Finn may be the sweetest of the Donnelly men I love watching him bowled over by Teagan.

This is a terrific addition to the series and can be read standalone.

Desert Warrior by Nalini Singh

Blurb:

The fabled desert kingdom of Zulheina was Tariq's birthright, and he was a man who held tightly what belonged to him. And that meant he had to reclaim a very special woman--the woman who had broken his heart years before in New Zealand. And once he had lured her to this distant land, he meant to keep his new bride here forever....

But Jasmine Coleridge was not as easily tamed as he had imagined. Her beguiling blend of untouched innocence and dazzling sensuality threatened, once again, to bring the haughty sheikh to his knees--and made him wonder who was the true prisoner....

My review:

Nalini Singh is one of my favorite authors so when I found this title from her backlist I had to give it a try. It reminded me of the days when I devoured Harlequin romances like m&m’s. A tasty snack.

Desert Warrior is a second chance romance that will have you wanting to Gibb’s smack a desert sheik and high five Jasmine. Sometimes you have to lose something to know what you had.

Reindeer Tracks (Little Cakes #16) by Pepper North and Paige Michaels

Blurb:

Welcome to Little Cakes, the bakery that plays Daddy matchmaker!

Love has always tiptoed around her. Could Santa have arranged for her to find the Daddy of her dreams?

Gemma James loves helping women feel beautiful, and as the owner of Design Magic, she’s living her dream every day. Helping women embrace fashion that flatters and fits is all the reward she needs, but her business limits her opportunities to meet a special man of her own.

While waiting to buy his sister a gift card, Anton Gates spots the well-loved stuffie by the cash register. But the moment he meets Gemma, he can tell she’s the right person to help him find the perfect gift instead. Enchanted by Gemma’s style and charm, it isn’t long before Anton is envisioning the perfect Little holiday gift for himself, too.

Little Cakes is a sweet and satisfying series, but dare to taste only if you like delicious Daddies, luscious Littles, and guaranteed happily-ever-afters.

My review:

Reindeer Tracks is sweet as can be. Not so much a holiday story as a story taking place around the holidays. This is a wonderful addition to the series. Gemma gets to discover her little side and Anton enjoys enlightening her. Each book in this series can be read standalone and I encourage you to take a bite.

Impressing Brett (Surrender Book 11) by Becca Jameson

Blurb:

Lacy

My childhood was not ideal.

My mom died when I was twelve.

My father didn’t want me.

He forced me to grow up before I was ready.

And then he tried to coerce me to marry against my will.

I had two options; I chose to walk away and never look back.

It’s been ten years; my father’s sudden death means little to me.

I don’t even care that he cut me out of his will.

Except maybe he didn’t.

Brett

I’ve known Lacy for a long time.

I’ve always been attracted to her, but she’s not Little.

She’s in trouble though.

Someone tried to burn down her apartment building.

She needs a place to stay.

And…I was wrong about her.

She might not know what it means yet, but she is Little.

She needs protection too. Someone is following her.

They’ll never get their hands on her because she’s mine.

My review:

First off monkey stuffie!!! Life has not been kind to Lacy and I was thrilled when Brett came into her life and gave her a shoulder to cry on and a heart to lean on. This was a sweet tale of self discovery and love plus a monkey stuffie!!!

Minnie (Silver Springs Pets #1) by Mia Harlan

Blurb:

I'm the witch with the most capital “B" in Silver Springs. A freak that even a quirky, paranormal town won't accept. But no one actually knows the real me...

I’m taking care of a toddler, working two jobs, and barely holding on by a thread. The carefree socialite everyone sees is just an act, and things keep turning from bad to worse.

If I don't come up with a bunch of money, fast, I'll end up unalive. My mom cursed me to flirt with my boss's mate, whom I don't even like. And I have three fated mates who might end up screwing me (and not in a fun way):
-The single dad whose son I'm caring for.
-The man who broke my heart when we were kids but now wants to marry me.
-A mad scientist who's selling innocent animals as vampire food.
On top of that, I'm hiding an anxiety disorder, squatting in an abandoned building, and taking so many potions that I may have a problem.

I’m Minnie Alexander. I used to be Minerva Montgomery, owner of the bakery in town. Now I have a baker’s dozen of problems.

Minnie is a quirky, angsty, slow burn, romantic comedy set in the Silver Springs universe. There is a cliffhanger ending. Please see the Author’s Note for trigger warnings.

My review:

A quirky rom-com with a paranormal bent. This reads like a spin-off as the characters have a shared history that we aren’t clued in to. Minnie is a thoroughly unlikeable character that you will come to love. Her words don’t match her actions and her actions are incredibly sweet. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and am anxiously awaiting the next installment.

Three Daddies for Christmas (Pleasure Times Four Holiday Series #5) by Candace Blevins

Blurb:

Archie, Leo, and Isaac are triplets. All three have a daddy fetish, but they come at it from different directions. However, finding a little who can handle three daddies –– a caretaker daddy, a disciplinarian daddy, and a nymphomaniac daddy who needs sex-on-demand more times a day than a werewolf needs food — has proven difficult.

Emma
makes a good living decorating wedding cakes in Las Vegas. She’s a coyote shifter, and she avoids the werewolves as much as possible, so imagine her surprise when a huge wolf walks into her bakery and comes to her rescue when her ex-boyfriend is making a scene.

After leaving her ex, Emma is living in a by-the-week apartment until she can find a house to buy, and she’s surprised at the offer to move right in with the triplets, but a trusted mutual friend assures her these guys are safe, so she agrees to the house rules and makes the move.

She’s always wanted a daddy, and now she’s living with three. Will it be too much? Or just enough?

My review:

Three Daddies for Christmas is not your typical DD/lg story but for fans of Candace Blevins it is a terrific love story. Just like love, kink is defined by the people in the relationship. For Emma and her guys they communicate and make it work. This story emphasizes the difference between work and play. Enjoyable escape.

Monster's Enemy (Blackthorn Academy for Supernaturals) by Cara North

Blurb:

He’s in love with the one witch who could destroy them all.

Attending Blackthorn Academy has always been a dream to the Earth-borne witch with basic powers. When the invitation arrives, she can’t wait to get to the place where so many of her ancestors thrived. Only, she arrived a week early, her magic is on the fritz, and her father tampered with her transcripts so she has to find a tutor to survive the Defense Against the Dark Arts class, and fast.

Brazrathan Patrick has shifted his focus to becoming a scholar. He stopped goofing around with his best buds and fellow monsters. Even stopped playing in the monster games as part of the team. Nothing would derail him from becoming the future valedictorian of his class and residential professor at this very school some day.

When the Headmistress throws curiosity to the wind, fate intervenes and brings two unlikely partners together. There are very few things that can kill a monster of Brazrothan’s genealogical make-up, but the woman he loves might just be number one.

Monster’s Enemy is book four in the Blackthorn Academy for Supernaturals shared world, featuring a curvy, kickass witch, a broody, half-gargoyle, half-demon, self-proclaimed loner, and more.

My review:

A hilarious meet cute, insta-lust (on his part, she isn’t far behind) and problematic roommates makes Monster's Enemy a must read. This book had me snickering and swooning and loving all the characters. Though this is part of a series it can be read standalone.

Thrilling adventure and sexy holiday fun in the Scottish Highlands.

But as Lachlan proves to her over and over that he is a wolf to be trusted, Edeen begins to change her mind about the pack and the very handsome wolf dedicated to making her first Highland Christmas a special one.

My review:

A fun holiday romance with hot Scots, puppies, kitties and lots of snow. Lachlan and Edeen are terrific together. This book left me with a smile. Though this is part of a series it can be read stand alone.
