Give Up The Ghost (Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries #11) by Angie Fox

Blurb:

Some secrets should stay buried.

Ghost hunter Verity Long is no stranger to scandal. In fact, it seems to follow her around like her pet skunk, Lucy. But Verity is as shocked as anybody when a town relic discovered in a time capsule unleashes a torrent of secrets that lead to murder.

Trouble is, the only residents in Sugarland who know the truth behind the scandal also happen to be very dead themselves. With a killer on the loose and a town in crisis, Verity braves a side of Sugarland she's never seen before. From a booby-trapped haunted mansion to a run-in with the spirit of Sugarland's most notorious blackmailer who may hold the key to setting mob ghost Frankie free...for a price.

But when a live killer gets an inside track on Verity's investigation, will she live long enough to give up the ghost?

My review:

Give Up The Ghost is another delightfully quirky installment in this series. Verity and Frankie take on the ghost of Sugarlands most vicious gossip. Lucy makes friends with a ghost horse. Virginia and Verity have a come to Jesus meeting unlike anything we’ve seen to date. This is a fast paced exciting romp that will leave you feeling good about life.

Alpha Geek: Archer by Milly Taiden

Blurb:

Destiny Jackson is a leopard shifter who rejected her family’s rich and killer lifestyle, instead going into the military and eventually signing on to work for Nick’s shifter protection agency. She didn’t believe it when she was warned she might be assigned to guard her fated mate, but the moment she meets Archer, she’s head over heels.

Archer Rogen has a secret: he knows all about the shifter protection agency and the fact that the men who are assigned female agents often meet their mate. So when he is installing a security system and discovers a dangerous situation, he’s all too eager to call up Nick and ask him for a bodyguard. The moment he meets Destiny, he’s thrilled. She’s smart, beautiful, and more than he could have ever dreamed of.

The close encounter with death and subsequent use of the shifter serum, though? That was a little bumpier than he’d like. Now Archer has brains and brawn, but he and Destiny have just a small window until a nefarious plan comes to fruition. Can they stop it before it’s too late?

My review:

Archer is the 14th in the series you would think that these stories would get stale but the author finds a new twist with each tale and this is no different. Archer and Destiny will have you flipping pages to see what happens next.

Slide (Caged and Dangerous Book 4) by Milly Taiden

Blurb:

I was betrayed. Rejected.
Caged like an animal.

I thought Ember was my ticket to freedom.
But she’s the woman I’m destined to love.
They locked me away to silence me.
But all I dream of is vengeance.

Until Ember shines a light on my darkness.
She sees the man within the beast.

I’ll find who killed her father,
Tragedy won’t ruin her soul.
My lion roars in her defense.
And purrs from her touch.

The bad guys don’t get it.
The second they threatened my love,
They signed their own death warrants.

Now, they’re going to have to deal with me.
King of the concrete jungle.
And their worst nightmare.

My review:

Edgy, sexy paranormal romantic suspense. Wrongfully convicted lion shifter Slide is sent in to rescue the ambassadors daughter and staff who were kidnapped by the guy that framed him. Anger will only get him so far but love might just save them all. This story kept me on the edge of my seat and flipping pages to find out what happens next. This is an amazing adventure.

Settling the Paw (Paranormal Dating Agency ) by Milly Taiden

Blurb:

Joanna Hertz has one mission in life: to make the lives of those less fortunate better. She’s devoted most of her life to her work, except for the time she walked in on her boyfriend with another woman. Now her charity is all she has and she likes it that way. When Gerri Wilder promises her romance, she’s not interested. Not even when the handsome Marcus brings her dead heart back to life. Right? Maybe.

Marcus Malone puts the word workaholic to shame. The only time he’s home is to sleep. Then throw on top of that his control-freak inclinations and you have a wolf shifter who has no room for relationships. That is, until he meets Joanna. Once he does, he knows she’s the one for him. Does he want a mate? No. But for Joanna, every rule he has goes out the window.

Nobody, not even Gerri see the turmoil building in Marcus’s pack coming. A war is brewing and his alpha position and his life are in jeopardy. What a time to be alive. Or not. When Joanna goes into action to help him, Marcus has to make a choice—his life or hers?

My review:

In Settling the Paw Gerri matches social warrior Joanna Hertz with workaholic alpha wolf shifter Marcus Malone. Marcus’s need to control everything may just cost him everything. I loved watching these two grow and grow together. Another exciting tale from the Paranormal Dating Agency.

Shifter Village (Hearts of Stone) by C.D. Gorri

Blurb:

Are memories enough to warm his frozen heart?

When Niels Orson is summoned home to attend his grandfather’s funeral, he isn’t prepared to see the one person who could upset his whole life.

Edie Battista. His fated mate.

Beautiful as ever, the mayor of Aster Village and owner of Battista Bakery has blossomed into a striking woman. Sassy and curvy, she is every Bear’s dream. Even if her welcome is less than cordial.

Not that he blames her.

In and out, that’s his plan. But Niels is met with a few surprises from the old man’s last will and testament. He must take steps to claim ownership of the small New Jersey village, or it will be sold to a ruthless developer.

Can Niels save the town and claim his mate? Or will he become the ice man everyone thinks he is?

My review:

Shifter Village is a sweet second chance romance. Niels Orson is a grumpy bear shifter forced to leave town and his mate when her father threatens to expose shifters if he doesn’t leave his daughter alone. Now 12 years later Niels comes home and is forced to deal with the past and the future of his home town. Edie stole my heart and I guarantee she will steal yours too.

Etched in Honor (Aspen Pack #1) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:

The betrayal that had nearly taken out the Aspen Pack has passed, but the ramifications of starting with a new hierarchy are taking their toll on Audrey Porter. Once traitor to the former leaders for trying to save their people, she’s now the Beta of the Pack and must try to hold their shattered remains together. Only she never expected the man from her past to awaken memories long since buried.

Gavin Powers is the new Tracker for the Aspen, yet it feels as though he’s always been part of the Pack, rather than a newcomer trying to heal a people long since thought forgotten. There are secrets within the den that could alter how the world sees shifters, and if Gavin isn’t careful, his attraction to Audrey could ruin everything.

There is a mysterious new enemy on the horizon, one long since vanquished into myth. As the darkness surrounded the Packs is unveiled, it will take a wolf and a lioness to unbury the past and fight for their future—or risk losing everything before it begins.

My review:

Carrie Ann Ryan returns to the world of shifters and magic with a new series and a new Pack. The Aspen Pack has been through the agony of war and betrayal. They are rebuilding but it is slow going. Lion shifter, Pack Beta Audrey Porter has been through her own personal hell. Abused by her former alpha, fighting in the war and losing her mate has left her questioning and overcompensating. When her mate returns after thirty years with no memory of her it flips her world upside down. She has to push it all aside because there is a new threat to the pack(s) and she is on the front lines. I cried for Audrey. She is a kick butt heroine with more strength than she even knows. A great beginning.

Moon Over Hanks Hollow by Rachelle Kampen

Blurb:

Sixteen-year-old Rosie Hart has spent her life split between two very different worlds. In the secret, male-dominated world of werewolves, she is the only female. As a witch, she struggles to understand her powers, even under the guidance of her grandmother.

Rosie’s formed a close bond with her pack, especially with her brother, Sam, and with handsome, smart, sixteen-year-old Lucas. The three of them have grown up together, learning how to navigate their extraordinary lives. Despite their close bond, she struggles with the isolation and insecurity of being different.

When a handsome classmate starts looking her way, Rosie tries to put aside her awkward alter-egos and strives for a little bit of normal, teenage-girl fun. But with the United States Werewolf Council breathing down her father’s back and a hunter prowling in the woods behind the pack house, Rosie’s already complicated life teeters on chaos. Normal might be out of the question, but can Rosie find peace—within herself and her complicated world?

My review:

Rosie Hart is an anomaly. A female werewolf who is half witch. She has been raised in a male dominated world. She has been hidden and protected but she has enemies. She has struggled with her empathetic nature in social situations and feels like she is a freak.

My heart bled for Rose as she struggles to find her way. She has a terrific support team in her father, brother and Lucas. But even they must submit to the council. I can’t wait to see how she grows into her gifts and takes on the patriarchy.

Red Velvet (Little Cakes #4) by Pepper North & Paige Michaels

Blurb:

Welcome to Little Cakes, the bakery that plays Daddy matchmaker!

Riley Bradford is used to people assuming she’s as tough as her tattooed exterior. Only her closest friends know her cocky bartender persona hides a sweet Little.

Shibari expert Milo Dante crafts masterful silken rigging. Unfortunately, the eager volunteers trapped in the elaborate knots he creates have never captured his heart. Will the submissive hidden inside Riley be the one he’ll never be able to set free?

Little Cakes is sweet and satisfying series, but dare to taste only if you like delicious Daddies, luscious Littles and guaranteed happily-ever-afters.

My review:

Red Velvet is a delicious addition to this series. Neither Riley nor Milo are what they appear on the surface or not just what they appear to be. They each have layers and when they finally decide to explore those layers with each other we get to enjoy a sweet treat.

Marked For Strife (Crashed and Claimed #2) by Susan Hayes

Blurb:

It was supposed to be the trip of a lifetime… now she’s just trying to stay alive.

Rissa can’t believe her luck. She won an all-expenses paid trip on a luxury matchmaking cruise. She’s not looking for love, but a few weeks of five-star pampering while seeing the galaxy sounds perfect… until it all goes wrong.

Abandoning ship wasn’t on her itinerary, and neither is the growly but oh-so-sexy alien who is half convinced she’s the enemy, and utterly certain she’s his. She’s got a list of the reasons they’re wrong for each other, but when they’re together, everything just feels right.

Crash landing on a prison planet may not be the vacation she dreamed of, but it might turn out to be the best “worst” day of her life.

**Buckle up. This sci-fi romance contains an alien with fur, fangs, horns, and a very possessive attitude when it comes to the woman he’s claimed for his own.

My review:

Strife is the tech guy stranded on the prison planet. Between him and the android Bysshe the aliens have managed to survive fairly comfortably. Rissa is a human technical engineer on vacation when the ship she is on is hit and she is forced to abandon ship. She is extremely uncomfortable dirt side. Being found by Strife probably saves her life if not her sanity.

This is a sexy, action-packed romp that will leave you with a smile.

Bad Girls Drink Blood by S.L. Choi

Blurb:

There is only one hybrid fae in existence, and that dishonor goes to Lane Callaghan.

After a life spent dodging slurs, threats, and assassination attempts, Lane gave her past the one finger salute and ditched her former fae home for good. The detective agency she and her sisters run on the edge of Las Vegas continues to limp along, with Lane doing more debt collecting and intimidating than investigating, but anything to pay the bills. Between working for low-lifes to bring down even lower-lifes, eating cheesy poofs by the bucket, and flirting with the criminally attractive bartender where she conducts business, life is good.

That ends when a routine job goes sideways, leaving Lane with a sack full of stolen sun shards—the source of sun fae power. Without the shards, the sun fae face giving up their magic completely, or risk death if they use their power. Considering they would rather see her dead, good riddance, as far as Lane’s concerned—except her father and adopted sister are sun fae. Lane must choose—return home to save.  the fae bastards that almost killed her, or let them burn.

My review:

Urban Fantasy has a new kick butt heroine in Lane Callaghan. A hybrid, her genetics give her an edge she uses to her advantage. With her sisters of the heart she runs a private investigative service that keeps the bets at the bar going.

The author has created a rich world of fae, shifters and other fantastic creatures and tossed our heroines into the mix. They not only survive they thrive. I really enjoyed Lane and her sisters. I eagerly look forward to more adventures with them all.

Dead Against Her (Bree Taggert #5) by Melinda Leigh

Blurb:

Called to an isolated farm to check on an elderly widow, Sheriff Bree Taggert finds a brutal double homicide. One of the victims is Eugene Oscar, the bitter and corrupt former deputy she recently fired.

Working with criminal investigator Matt Flynn, Bree discovers that she isn’t the only one who had a troubling history with Eugene. But someone doesn’t want Bree digging up the past. She becomes the target of a stranger’s sick and devious campaign calculated to destroy her reputation, career, family, and new relationship with Matt. To make matters worse, she’s the prime suspect in Eugene’s murder.

When her chief deputy goes missing while investigating the case, Bree refuses to back down. She won’t let him become the next victim. His life and her future depend on finding a killer nursing a vengeful rage.

My review:

Another fabulous installment in this series. Bree has grown so much personally over the previous books and that becomes really evident in this book. Former deputy Eugene Oscar was a pain in the tail for Bree from the start. Now he’s dead and it’s up to Bree to find his murderer. She has to do it while dealing with intense harassment from an unknown source. Once again we are set upon a twisted trail and Bree will power through like she always does only this time she has the backing of family and friends. This story will grab your attention and not let go till way past the last page.

Daddy's Saving (ABC Towers #3) by Pepper North

Blurb:

Only a Daddy could save her from herself now…

After a lengthy sabbatical to be with her terminally ill husband, Sharon Ross is finally returning to Edgewater Industries. Broken by her loss, and weary from constant caregiving, she is relieved to be back with the only family she has left.

Knox Miller has loved Sharon from afar for years, and he can’t stand by as grief and exhaustion consume the Little girl inside her. A special Daddy’s tender love and care could rescue Sharon from her misery, and Knox intends to be the one she can count on for that relief.

My review:

This story has all the feels. Sharon is a talented administrator. She took off to tend to her husband who was slowly dying from early onset dementia. Knox is the head of security for Edgewater Industries. Knox has loved Sharon for years but couldn’t act because she was married. He will not allow her to wallow in misery. He will give her time but she will be his. I loved the slow build of love between Knox and Sharon. The care he shows her will make your heart go aww.

My review:

The author had fun with this one and so will you. This one has a socially inept lioness/shark shifter guarding an ocean going geek with a spine of steel in a marshmallow body. They have to outwit the bad guys, stay alive and give in to the burgeoning love between them. Exciting.

Alpha Males and Other Shift (Shifting Into Midlife #2) by L.A. Boruff, Lacey Carter Andersen, Lia Davis

Alpha Males and Other Shift (Shifting Into Midlife #2) by L.A. Boruff, Lacey Carter Andersen, Lia Davis

Blurb:

An Alpha dragon wants me, but my hands are full with a pack of shifter jerks...

Since becoming a shifter, my life has turned upside down. Gone are my days of solitude, enjoying an empty nest while my daughter is off at college. Instead, I'm juggling a new job, a new pack of friends, and a hot dragon shifter making eyes at me. That's enough to drive me crazy—in a good way—but now I'm also worried about my daughter accidentally swearing an oath to an evil alpha.

My friends and I have a plan to free her from the alpha’s ruthless control, but the process might be a little reckless. We can use both magic and death, right?

I sure hope so.

As a mom, I was prepared to let my daughter live her own life. But I'm not about to lose her forever to a pack of shifter miscreants.

Well, that’s not going to happen. What a bunch of bullsh—Well, you know what I mean.

My review:

This is a terrific follow-up to Pack Bunco Night. There is nothing fiercer than a pissed off momma. When Tilly is threatened Bethany will do whatever it takes to keep her safe. Bethany and Declan grow closer. Esther and Holly face off. And Bethany meets her sperm donor. Action packed fun.

Irish Rogue (Brooklyn Kings #5) by L.K. Shaw

Blurb:

Anya

Five years ago I was sold. Used. Abused. Now, I'm broken. My loving family thinks a husband will fix me. I have no desire to get married, but I’ll give them what they want. Except it will be on my terms. And I know just the person to ask.

Paddy

Getting married is at the top of the list of things I swore I'd never do. So there’s no way I’ll agree to Anya’s ridiculous proposition. Yet, somehow, I find myself saying yes. She says we both can live our lives without interference from the other. It seems like the perfect plan.

Until it isn’t.

My review:

Anya’s tale will break your heart. She’s recovering but she has her sister and brother in-law wanting to fix things. Its enough to make her want to tear her hair out.

Paddy has a heart wrenching tale of his own but as the always smiling jocular fellow you’d never know it. Perhaps Anya sensed it one broken being to another.

When these two get together and help each other heal it was so precious it made my heart smile.

With the continuous onslaught of unseen forces trying to destroy them, Serena and Peder learn to rely not on their magic, but themselves...and each other.

My review:

Magic Mayhem continues the story of mermaid and sea mage Serena and king of the sea dragons Peder. In this story Serena is losing her powers and is afraid she may be losing Peder too. The long distance romance is taking its toll. This story is filled with fear, love and empowerment. I loved it.

Fated in Winter (Talon Pack #11) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:

Conner Jamenson knows two things:

One day he might turn rogue.

And he can never risk his mate.

Romy Temple knows what it means to be lonely.

She’s spent ninety-nine years in the Talon Pack, not part of the hierarchy, and not quite old enough to be elder.

She’s the wolf no one remembers.

With a rogue on the loose and the winter season approaching, two wolves who promised they would never fall find themselves on the brink of doing what could cost them the most.

Each other.

*Originally found in the Shifters & Mistletoe Anthology.*

My review:

Fated in Winter is a sweet tale of two lonely souls finding each other.

Conner may be part of a big family and has a close connection to his twin but his fight with his wolf has him fearing for his sanity. His biggest fear is hurting someone he loves. That means he won’t be searching out his mate.

Romy has lost everyone she’s ever loved. They’ve been killed by war and crazy alphas. Leaving her with no contemporaries. She is afraid to love anyone for fear that they too will be taken from her.

The Moon Goddess has other plans for them and it all comes together this Yule tide.

I really enjoyed watching Conner and Romy overcome their fears and let love in.
