Aroma With A View: A Paranormal Women's Fiction Novel (A Nora Black Midlife Psychic Mystery #4) by Renee George

Blurb:

My name is Nora Black. I’m over fifty and loving it. I’ve embraced the aches and pains, the failing vision, and the new slightly odoriferous physic gift that seems to keep on giving.

Of course, the somewhat younger man in my life helps.

However, I’m on my own in the latest smell-o-vision adventure of deadly snakes, a hijacked bridal/baby shower, and a groom in jeopardy.

Well… maybe not totally alone. With my two BFFs, my sweetie cop and a whole bunch of nutty Garden Covians by my side, we’ll come out smelling like roses.

The aroma with a view into the future may look bleak, but I plan to win. Life is just too damned good to accept the alternative.

My review:

Nora and her pals are back and the fun keeps rolling on. In this episode Nora and her friends will have to dig into the past of friend that was hiding secrets dark enough to get her killed. This is a story of fresh starts, renewal and friendship. I laughed. I was so into this story I forgot to eat.

Sparks fly in this sizzling romance as Edwin Coldwell seeks to take control of more than just his life. One-click His to Command now to see who comes out on top!

My review:

I’ll admit it took me a bit to get into this installment. I really didn’t like Edwin, Andrea or Brian. About halfway in Edwin redeemed himself and I appreciated the care he took with Andrea. I enjoyed this sexy tale that highlights the difference between a caring Dom and a bully. Break out the ice water and a bit of patience.

Mage You Blink (Nightshade Guild) by Gracen Miller

Blurb:

A royal assassination and an elf princess to save. The world just went to hell.

The news rocked Nicoletta Dean’s mundane life. Nic is one of 12 mages tasked with protecting the princess. She’s prepared for this dogfight. Illusions are her specialty, but that’s not all she has. Her snarky attitude and knowledge of runes gives her an edge. She can trust no one, not even former advocates, anyone can be a part of the rebellion. Nic knows nothing about babies. But she won’t let that stop her, not even if it means she’s learning to change diapers while on the run.

Marik knows the Nightshade Guild mages will be called in to protect the princess. Their diverse powers make them the perfect choice, but with assassins chasing their ass, they might not be enough. As a royal born elf, it’s his duty to protect his baby cousin. Too bad, Nicoletta Dean refuses to trust him. Good thing he’s as stubborn as she is and won’t take no for an answer because she needs his help.

Stetson is a vampire with blood soaked hands. He’s lived a thousand years loyal to no one but himself until now. When word gets out that Ameria’s been orphaned, he’ll do anything to prove his loyalty to Nic. He won’t be on the wrong side of history this time and he’ll do anything for Nic to prove himself.

The stakes are dangerous, lives are in the balance, but no one said they can’t have a little fun while saving the world.

My review:

Warning don’t drink anything while reading this unless you enjoy spit takes. Smart and snarky it’s Nic’s turn to care for the orphaned elven princess Ameria. Nic is not your trusting type but Marik and Stetson manage to prove they can be trusted to help protect Ameria. The author finds new and inventive ways to take out the troublemakers after the baby princess.  I absolutely loved this installment.

A Wolf After My Own Heart (BeWere My Heart #2) by MaryJanice Davidson

Blurb:

Orphans and humans and weres, oh my! Escape into this delicious shifter romance from bestselling author Mary Janice Davidson.

Oz Adway is a rare breed: an accountant who wants to get dirty. And, by the way, a wolf shifter working for the Interspecies Placement Agency. Bored with his safe office job, he volunteers to find runaway bear cub Sally Smalls, recently orphaned by a plane crash. Piece of cake, right? Unfortunately, Sally's taken refuge with "ordinary" human Lila Kai, a reluctant guardian who has no idea what's going on, but will destroy anyone who tries to take the cub. Not that it matters. Oz is not about to let a gorgeous Stable jeopardize his career move.

As for Lila, she knows something's different about the sexy weirdo who keeps popping up in the wrong place at the right time. She's determined to figure out what, regardless of the escalating threats to her safety and Oz's distracting hotness. She didn't move into a cursed house and take in a werebear just to run when things get complicated. Together, Oz and Lila will prevail! But only if they can keep their hands off each other...

Put away your pocket protectors: This hilarious story includes a nerdy shifter accountant with a bad-boy side, a fiercely protective human heroine, and a baby bear cub that will make every reader sigh in cuteness.

A hilarious and sexy book in the BeWere My Heart series

My review:

We met wolf shifter accountant Oz Adway in Bears Behaving Badly. Oz has moved from the accounting department to child advocate trainee and has lost his first assignment. Lila Kai is an extraordinary human who finds an adorable bear shifter cub who is on the run from Oz and the IPA. Lila is snarky a total hoot with a heart of gold. This is a laugh out loud read that had me giggle-snorting and flipping pages.

Blurb:

Her blood sings for him, will he answer the call?

Aleksei Delov is the owner of Timeless Possessions, part of a global conglomerate of corporations. The immortal Vampire Prince is renowned for his ability to acquire authentic, priceless antiques for his various private clientele. Alek’s reputation is everything, until he meets her.

When someone robs Aleksei and passes off fakes in his name, he tracks Carina down and offers his patronage in exchange for the use of her abilities.

But he is not prepared for his reaction to the beautiful normal. Can he resist the female, or will he be seduced by her blood song?

My review:

Blood Song is a vampire love story wrapped in the trappings of Russian culture. Carina is an orphan with the gift of psychometry and a real hate for the guy responsible for killing her parents.  Aleksei is a vampire and the new leader of his clan. These two discover that they share more than just the hate for the same guy. This is a short but detailed tale of love and vengeance.

The Russian Cage (Gunnie Rose #3) by Charlaine Harris

Blurb:

Picking up right where A Longer Fall left off, this thrilling third installment follows Lizbeth Rose as she takes on one of her most dangerous missions yet: rescuing her estranged partner, Prince Eli, from the Holy Russian Empire. Once in San Diego, Lizbeth is going to have to rely upon her sister Felicia, and her growing Grigori powers to navigate her way through this strange new world of royalty and deception in order to get Eli freed from jail where he's being held for murder.

Russian Cage continues to ramp up the momentum with more of everything Harris' readers adore her for with romance, intrigue, and a deep dive into the mysterious Holy Russian Empire.

My review:

Gunnie Rose is gifted with a gun and an expert in surviving. The Russian Cage puts Gunnie in situations where she has to adapt, improvise and fake it in a world apart from what she’s used to. I really enjoyed this peek into Eli’s life and family. This story takes their relationship to the next level. I was blown away by this installment and hope we get to visit with her again.

Blurb:

When the choice becomes ‘take care of them or die,’ it isn’t a difficult decision. Suddenly, Kyle is faced with not only raising and training them, but he also has to guard them from their father, who is determined to get them back, even if it means taking Kyle out in the process. Will the floofballs from Hell cost Kyle his life? **This is a slightly expanded version of the story that appeared in All Hallowed Tales.**

My review:

I’ll admit the title sucked me in. I had expected something a little lighter and fluffier but was not disappointed with this short story. The ending blew my mind. Worth the read.

My review:

Unexpected Valentine is a divinely sweet tale of a cupid finding love. Seth is adorably sweet and sexy. Eliana is exquisite. They have a precious meet cute. Kat (The Drummonds Book 5) by September North

Blurb:

I’m Katherine “Kat” “Ladybug” Drummond. I’m the captain of the cheerleading team. My mom, Mariah, is the coach. She thinks I’m perfect. She has no idea what I do to be this perfect for her. All of that is about to change, because a Rooster is coming to town. It was a joke that one day I would marry William and Kendra’s son, Reginald “Reggie” “Rooster”. Only, we aren’t joking now.

I’m Rooster. I got the nickname from my dad because I’m a lot like him. This year, I return home, to Kat. We have been waiting and planning, and the best of friends due to distance and time, but I won’t be more than an hour’s drive and it is finally our time.

Sometimes, history repeats itself.

My Review:

HOLY CRAP! This series keeps getting better and better. Kat and Rooster have known that each was the one for each other since they were kids. Now he’s a Marine and she’s effectively a senior and time and distance can’t interfere. But a psycho mother, an idiot plowing onto the football field and ego just might. I usually don’t read YA as I had enough angst when I was a young adult but the characters in this series are truly compelling and have me looking forward to the next installment with baited breath.

Finding You Again: A Small Town Second Chance Romance by Reese Hart

Blurb:

The world was his for the taking. But it turns out all he wanted was me.

Not that you’d know it by how he left all those years ago.
He was my first love. My true love.
But he turned his back on me. He never looked back.
Now he’s here.
Staring at me and the heart he left in pieces.

Jack Miller.

Seeing him used to excite me.
Used to. I’m not happy he’s back.
He destroyed me.
Years might have passed but the anger I’ve lived with makes moving on difficult. I shouldn’t want to hear him out.

I can’t allow him to hurt me a second time. But my heart and mind won’t come to terms.
I don’t want to wonder if his kisses will make my pulse race again. We can’t go back in time to erase all that pain.

And yet in all that anger, I can't get rid of an annoying little question in the back of my brain.

Could we make it work this time?

Author's Note: This small town second chance romance is part of my Willa Creek series. All the books end in an HEA with no cliffhanger or cheating.

My review:

Finding You Again is as sweet as you would expect. This feel good second chance romance takes place in Willa Creek but stands alone just fine. Jack ghosted Samantha and left her with a broken heart and the determination to make it on her own. Now he’s back in town and has a lot of groveling to do. Delightfully sassy this book will leave you with a smile and a full heart.

Schooling the Jock (Nerds Vs Jocks #1) by Tara Lain & Eli Easton

Blurb:

Only an unfair universe makes a guy who’s that gorgeous so damned obnoxious.

A-hoe!
Poindexter!
Snarky, superbrain Dobbs and snooty football star Jesse stare at each other from their rival frat houses on opposites sides of the street -- and opposite sides of everything else.

Alpha Lambda Alpha and Sigma Mu Tau have been sworn enemies for decades. Then one disastrous prank proves to be the final straw, and the college dean blows his cork!

Work together or lose both your houses.

Question - -How can Dobbs win his coveted Quiz Bowl championship when he’s forced to put a dumb jock on his team?
Answer -- Lots of personal schooling.

But when personal becomes very personal, Jesse risks causing his overtaxed family one more huge worry and the running back starts running.

Will Dobbs give up on the shocked jock, or show him that the answer to the big question is, Yes?

SCHOOLING THE JOCK is an enemies-to-lovers, opposites attract, campus romance – with one hell of a lightning round.

My review:

Schooling The Jock is a sweet and sexy tale of expectations versus reality. Jeffrey Dobbs and the Sigma Mu Tau are the brainiacs on campus and the Alpha Lambda Alpha and Jesse Knox are the jocks with all the attendant expectations that go with those clichés. This story and the two that are to follow set those clichés on end. Jeffrey may be a Brainiac but he is also an out and proud gay man and a runner. Jesse surprises us all by being an upper level nursing student, what a jock with a brain?! Oh and he is a closeted gay man. This story had me loving these characters so much and rooting for them.

Taken by the Tiger (Alpha Claimed #2) by Milly Taiden

Blurb:

Welcome to the world of the Alpha Claimed. Each story features a strong woman and the man or men that love her. Every book is standalone, but once you read one you'll want to read the others.

Parker Nolan is home to attend her cousin's wedding after years of living abroad representing her family's nonprofit foundation. She's caught off guard when she has a fling with the best man. Ryan is smoking hot, super sweet, and so alpha he makes her toes curl. She might want to stick around a while to see where things go with him. Other than the bedroom, that is.

Fortunately, he needs her expertise to help him get the youths of his pride under control if he wants to unite the different generations. Parker's bonding activities for the pride gives both of them time together, allowing her to see how good they are as a couple.

It would all be perfect if someone didn't want Parker out of the picture. Ryan's hold on his pride is falling apart and his mate's life is on the line. But Parker isn't one to go down without a fight. She's faced danger before and she's ready to do it again. But can she take on a pride of lions?

My review:

When Parker comes home for her cousin Jade’s wedding to not one but two hunky shifters she becomes prey for the hot best man who recognizes her as his mate. Both Parker and the new tiger Alpha, Ryan, have good hearts and it is truly terrific to see the good guys win in this steamy story.

Murder With a View (House-Flipper Mystery #3) by Diane Kelly

Blurb:

Murder With a View is the third book in the delightful cozy mystery series from Diane Kelly set in Nashville, Tennessee--where the real estate market is to die for...

A DREAM PROPERTY

Carpenter Whitney Whitaker, her cousin Buck, and guard-cat Sawdust just scored a hot property near downtown Nashville in a tax sale. While the Music City Motor Court might not be much to look at now, the two plan to transform the motel’s twelve units into six one-bedroom condominiums with popular mid-century styling. But surprises await when Whitney discovers a squatter living in Room 9 and her cat Sawdust uncovers a body in the bed next door.

A LIVING NIGHTMARE

The murder victim is none other than Beckett Morgan, an up-and-coming country-western singing sensation who’s taken Nashville by storm with his number-one hit “Party in the Pasture.” Beckett’s left a long trail of broken promises and broken hearts, and the list of suspects seems endless. So does the line of female fans intent on halting the flip and turning the construction site into a shrine for the deceased star. If Whitney and Buck don’t help Detective Collin Flynn nail the killer, they’ll never be able to clear out the star-obsessed groupies, complete the remodel, and recoup their investment. But just who silenced the singer and why?

My review:

Murder With a View is the third in a delightful cozy mystery series. In this installment Buck and Whitney purchase an old motor motel to flip into kitschy condos. They didn’t expect it to come with the murdered corpse of a rising country star. This terrific tale has plenty of suspects and lots of inside dish of the country music recording industry. I found this a riveting story with marvelous characters. Though this is part of a series it can be read standalone just fine.

Her Rock (Center City First Responders Book 2) by Reina Torres

Blurb:

If there’s someone in pain or in need in Center City, these courageous men and women are there to help. Fire, Police, Medical and Dispatch: they’ll be there.

Her Rock
Martin “Rock” Ferris & Kate Turner

A Sergeant in the CCPD, Kate Turner has always known what she wanted to do with her life. She wasn’t the kind of person who could sew up a wound or deliver a baby… okay, she’d done that once, back when she was on patrol, but now her job was watching out for her people and making them better officers. Who was watching out for her? She didn’t need someone to do that, thank you very much!

Martin “Rock” Ferris was a man who would walk through fire for his friends and did so on a regular basis as a member of the Rescue Crew from House 29. As broad in the shoulder as he was brave, he never left anyone behind and he was always there to lend a hand in the thick of a crisis. The problem in his life was that the very person he wanted to protect more than anyone else didn’t want him around.

It wasn’t that they weren’t compatible. They knew how to get along fine enough when they had their hands on each other and their clothes off. And while Kate used her sharp tongue to tell him exactly where to step off, she also knew exactly how to drive him wild. And when she let him, he returned the favor over and over again.

But that’s all she’ll give him. Those stolen moments in the dark. Kate doesn’t want to let him into her heart. Men don’t stick around for long and she’ll never give Rock the chance to break her heart into a thousand pieces. When her world is upside down and everything is falling down around her ears, she knows her family is there for her, but she’ll never let them see the abject fear and deadly doubt that’s creeping into her mind. She hides that away and puts on a brave face.

Martin is determined to tear down her walls because he knows that he’s ready to stand there between her and danger. He’ll always be Her Rock.

My review:

CCPD Sergeant Kate Turner has no fear of the bad guys what she fears is love. She is afraid that she is her fathers daughter and will end up being hurt. Which is why she entered a “friends with benefits” relationship with smoking hot firefighter Martin “Rock” Ferris. But now he wants more and Kate doesn’t know if she can give it.

I loved this story! Rock and Kate were totally relatable. I found myself rooting for them from the very first page. Though this is part of a series it can be read standalone.

Healed with a Kiss (Cat's Paw Cove, Book 20) by Sharon Buchbinder

Blurb:

Brendan Redbird is a man of science and a medical professional. When this very uptight, predictable guy is adopted by a naughty talking cat (Tom) and his two brothers (Dick and Harry), Brendan's life makes an unpredictable turn.

Tom smacks a girl on the butt and lets Brendan take the blame. The only problem is the girl Tom smacked is a water nymph, Myrotessa, or Tessa for short. She isn't about to let Brendan off with that ridiculous excuse. Tessa has healing waters and the gift of prophecy—but she did not see that coming.

When the magical felines of Cat's Paw Cove begin succumbing to a mysterious malady, Tessa and Brendan are forced to work together to find a cure. Along the way to helping others, they fix the cracks in their hearts—and are healed with a kiss.

My review:

Science meets magic in this delightful addition to Cat’s Paw Cove. In this sweet tale Brendan Redbird, RN falls for the wrong girl and thus starts him on the path of finding his future if he can get his head out of his butt (yes I know anatomically impossible) and open his heart to the possibility of magic. Talking cats, magic and love make this the perfect tale for your Valentines Day. Though this is part of a series it can be read standalone.

Inked Persuasion (Montgomery Ink: Fort Collins #1) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:

The Montgomery Ink saga from NYT Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan continues with a steamy new series.

Years ago, Annabelle Montgomery married not for love but for a promise of hope. When she lost him weeks later, she told herself she never needed those sentiments again. Only when she discovers years later that her new neighbor is her late husband’s brother, Annabelle finds she can’t quite shake the emotions she’s long since buried.

Jacob Queen vowed he’d never set eyes on Annabelle again. When they’re forced into each other’s lives once more, they realize that no matter how far they run, no distance can keep them apart forever. More than ghosts lay between them, and when they finally give in to temptation, walking away whole may no longer be an option.

My review:

Inked Persuasion by Carrie Ann Ryan is the first in a new set of Montgomerys. This edition is an enemies to lovers tale that will leave you smiling. I’ll admit I wasn’t a fan of either Annabelle or Jacob at the start. He was an a$$ and she was a pushover but I trust this author and she made it right and by the end I was in love with them both. Sweet and sexy this is a marvelous addition to the Montgomery world.

A Stranger in Town (Rockton #6) by Kelley Armstrong

Blurb:

In #1 New York Times bestselling author Kelley Armstrong's next Rockton book, A Stranger in Town, the biggest mystery is the fate of the town itself.

Detective Casey Duncan has noticed fewer and fewer residents coming in to the hidden town of Rockton, and no extensions being granted. Her boyfriend, Sheriff Eric Dalton, presumes it’s the natural flux of things, but Casey’s not so sure. Something bigger is happening in the small town they call home.

When an injured hiker stumbles from the woods, the sole survivor of a hostile attack, it’s all hands on deck. Even a member of the elusive Rockton council comes in to help. This council member also comes bearing news: Rockton is being shut down due to the hostile situation.

Casey and Eric must now race to save the town that has allowed residents to have a fresh start, away from the mistakes of their past, while also getting to the bottom of this latest attack.

My review:

A Stranger in Town is the most mind-bending addition to this series yet. Casey has had her theories about where the “hostiles” originated but even she had no idea how depraved the situation would get. Casey, Eric and their fellow Rockton citizenry are about to experience major upheaval when old secrets come to light. Solving this murder may cost them their home. I enjoyed this twisted tale and hope this series continues.
