Spell Cat (The Aloysius Tales #1) by Tara Lain

Blurb:
When Killian Barth, history professor, meets Blaine Genneau, quantum physicist, they ignite their own big bang. But sadly, Killian walks away. He doesn't do physics professors. In fact, he doesn't do humans, because Killian is the most powerful male witch in 10 generations and, though gay, he's expected to save his declining race by reproducing.

He can't even have sex with Blaine, because he's been taught that sex with humans depletes his power. But if that's true, why can young human, Jimmy Janx, dissolve spoons with a thought? Somebody's a lying witch.

With his powerful cat familiar, Aloysius, on his shoulder, Killian brings the lightning against deceit and greed to save Blaine from danger and prove love is the greatest power of them all.

My review:
m/m PNR
In this modern day fairytale we have the gay male witch being forced to marry the mafia kings witchy daughter even though they both love someone else.  Straightening it all out is going to take one crafty cat. While the story gets quite convoluted the underlying theme of love conquers all is one I can get behind. Not my favorite Tara Lain story but not bad either.

Freakn' Out (Freakn' Shifters #7) by Eve Langlais

Blurb:
He's broken in body and spirit, but she's not giving up.

Leave me the hell alone. Is that so freakn' hard to grasp?

Yeah, Derrick is angry, and bitter, but with good reason. His army buddies should have left him to die instead of dragging him out of the rebel camp--and he meant drag. Shrapnel to his back ensured his legs are useless hunks of meat. Everything below his waist is useless--limper than an overcooked noodle. Whimper.

As if that wasn't bad enough, fate just has to kick a wolf when he is down and send him the curvy and luscious Janine. According to his inner beast, she's his mate. Not happening. There will be no claiming because Derrick isn't about to saddle anyone with half a man. I don't want her pity.

Problem is, Janine, with her fiery red hair and tempting curves, won't leave him the hell alone. She thinks she can fix him. And a part of him, the part that refuses to give up hope, is tempted to let her try.

Can she teach this broken wolf new tricks--including bedroom ones--that will make him howl once again?

My review:
Freakn' Out is Freakn’ fantastic! Eve Langlais writes sexy, snarky and fun reads. This book is sweet, sexy and fun but it is also an emotional rollercoaster that will have you reaching for the tissues on more than one occasion. I think this may be the best thing I’ve read by this author.

A Mate's Forgiving Touch (Black Hills Wolves #57) by Merryn Dexter

Blurb:
A wolf on the run
Tired of running from the past, Connor Burrows is working his way home to Los Lobos. He knows he needs to face his family and finally come to terms with the horrors of their shared past. When he stops in the small town of Franklin, the last thing he expects to find is a lone wolf who smells like perfection and takes no prisoners.

Trapped by the beast inside
Bailey Clarke is a freak of nature, her father has told her so since she was a little girl. Hiding the beast inside grows harder every day. When a handsome, charming, infuriating stranger rides into town, he threatens to destroy the carefully constructed walls she uses to protect herself, and everyone else around her.

A man on a mission
Connor is determined to claim Bailey as his mate. His dominant nature loves the challenge this sparky little wolf presents both in and out of bed. He won’t let anything stand between them – not her father, and certainly not Bailey’s own fears and doubts.

Tamed by the wolf within
Bailey sees what her life could be, if she can only learn to trust for the first time in her life. Before she can accept Connor as her mate, she will have to repair the broken bond between herself and her wolf. Will her secrets destroy their chance at happiness?

A race against time
Newly mated, Connor and Bailey find themselves in a fight for their lives. Family ties will prove their deadliest threat and their greatest salvation.

My review:
In previous books Connor Burrows was a bit of a jerk. He lashed out at those who love him and hit the road. Now tail tucked between his legs he is working his way back home. In a small town 50 miles from home he stops to pick up some work to pick up a bit of cash and maybe delay a little bit.  What he didn’t expect was finding Bailey Clarke. The wolf meant to be his mate.  Bailey has grown up packless and afraid of her wolf. Conner is going to have to work for his redemption.
I loved this book. Watching Conner forced to be patient was worth it. There is a lot going on in this book and I would have liked to know more about what happened with Bailey’s parents. If you like PNR you will love A Mate's Forgiving Touch.

Eyes Only for Me (Eyes of Love #1) by Andrew Grey

Blurb:
For years, Clayton Potter’s been friends and workout partners with Ronnie. Though Clay is attracted, he’s never come on to Ronnie because, let’s face it, Ronnie only dates women.

When Clay’s father suffers a heart attack, Ronnie, having recently lost his dad, springs into action, driving Clay to the hospital over a hundred miles away. To stay close to Clay’s father, the men share a hotel room near the hospital, but after an emotional day, one thing leads to another, and straight-as-an-arrow Ronnie make a proposal that knocks Clay’s socks off! Just a little something to take the edge off.

Clay responds in a way he’s never considered. After an amazing night together, Clay expects Ronnie to ignore what happened between them and go back to his old life. Ronnie surprises him and seems interested in additional exploration. Though they’re friends, Clay suddenly finds it hard to accept the new Ronnie and suspects that Ronnie will return to his old ways. Maybe they both have a thing or two to learn.

My review:
m/m
Eyes Only for Me is one of those books that leaves me conflicted. I love Clay. He is out and proud and knows what he wants from life. Ronnie appears to have it all. He is handsome and successful. He has no problems attracting the ladies.  I love that these guys are older.  Their relationship is dialog driven and at times left me uninvolved. Still, well worth the read.

Magic and Mayhem: Reality Shift (Kindle Worlds Novella) (Southern Shift Book 2) by H.M. McQueen

Magic and Mayhem: Reality Shift (Kindle Worlds Novella) (Southern Shift Book 2)
by H.M. McQueen

Blurb:
Vampire, rabbits and wolves....oh crap. When Jill James agrees to help the troublesome wolf shifter twins film a reality show, the last thing she expects is to end up in the middle of bat crap crazy chain of events.

Okay so maybe ending up naked on the kitchen floor with a hunky vampire is not exactly that bad. However, the real question is why does Jill end up kidnapped and tied up with a rabbit shifter afterwards?

My review:
Laugh out loud silliness. Reality Shift takes place in the same world as Southern Howl but can be read stand alone. Jill is half human and half werewolf. She owns her sexuality but life hasn’t been the same for her since she broke up with the hunky vampire. Will she ever find the committed relationship she yearns for?

Please Note: this story is an add on to Make Damn Sure. It SHOULD NOT be read alone and should not be read before you read Make Damn Sure.

My review:
I listened to this on audio and the narrator does a great job.  This is a terrific, short fairy tale starring a glimmer toad and his attitude.

On a personal note

My daughter got married this weekend. I am thrilled for them. It only took an act of the supreme court to make it happen. I will admit to being a bit put out that they didn't want or need my help putting it all together. I mean isn't that what moms do? I am so glad they were strong enough to insist on doing things their way. It was a beautiful, magical event that was totally them. I will admit to tearing up during the ceremony especially when the handwritten vows were read. I wish them many years of happiness.

Magic and Mayhem: Risky Witchness (Kindle Worlds Novella) by Saranna DeWylde

Blurb:
Millicent Mandrake is a witch with a Prick and problem. She’d argue that all Pricks are problems, but to be fair, she’s never met another porcupine familiar. She wouldn’t be in this mess if he hadn’t taken to crawling into her seat at just the wrong time. The middle of Masters Conjuring and she’d just wrought the best, most powerful spell of her life--mortals would call it defending their dissertation—and she sat on him. The stream of curses that left her lips tore a hole in this dimension and conjured a slick-talking, snappy dressing, horned hottie named Ethelred.

Instead of being the answer she’d hoped for—making her student loans disappear—he’s another problem. His magic doesn’t work in this dimension and she has no idea how to send him home. So she packs up her Prick, her problem, her Ethelred, and all her worldly and otherworldly goods in her purple ’86 SS Monte Carlo, and drives to Assjacket, West Virginia in hopes of gaining an audience with Baba Yaga, but she’s away visiting the 80’s.
When Millie tries to drown her sorrows in fairy juice, she gets a different kind of audience, a hangover from hell, and an idea that’s just crazy enough to work—a strip club that caters to the supernatural. She’ll be raking in the money in no time and her magic will be safe.

Of course, nothing can be that easy in Assjacket—or even just outside the county line. Some patrons are committing strange crimes after leaving her club and she’s got ten days to solve the mystery or face Baba Yaga’s wrath.

My review:
Sassy, sexy and fun. Millicent Mandrake is a witch who is smart, sexy and comfortable in her own skin. She has hit a couple of speed bumps but hasn’t let it get her down. Her familiar is a porcupine and she accidentally pulled a demon into this dimension. Now she is trying to pay off her student loans, figure out what she has done to end up with a porcupine familiar and try not to fall for the hot demon. Just another day in the life. If you want a laugh out loud escape then Risky Witchness is for you.

Magic and Mayhem: The Witch Singer (Kindle Worlds Novella) (Witches of Mane Street Book 1) by Heather Long

Magic and Mayhem: The Witch Singer (Kindle Worlds Novella) (Witches of Mane Street Book 1) by Heather Long

Blurb:
Curses. Vampires. Skunks. The life of a Witch Singer shouldn’t be this complicated.

After years spent paying off an old debt by working for the vampires, Bridget the Witch Singer receives the opportunity of the lifetime. Solve one vampire’s oops—he turned the wrong person—and she’s a free witch. Desperate to win her freedom, she heads to Assjacket to find the solution to the vampire’s problem and everything goes wrong along the way, including a flat tire, getting sprayed by a skunk and the road trip from hell.

Unfortunately, Martin is no ordinary skunk and his spray is a nervous tick. She does her best to save the beast when her scream accidentally wounds him and springs him from his curse. Good news for Martin, not so good for Bridget who can’t get rid of him. Once in Assjacket, she’s tasked by the BabaYoMama to unite at least two couples and sing at their weddings in order to gain the cure she needs for her freedom.

No problem, right?

My review:
The Witch Singer is a light hearted, uproariously funny romp. Bridget the Witch Singer has had a bit of bad luck but is offered an opportunity to bail herself out. You know she is going to do whatever she has to.  What is involved is a road trip, a talking skunk and surprises galore.  We get our happily for now and I can’t wait for the next installment.

Fur Ball Fever by Maureen Fisher

Blurb:
An impulsive pet spa owner who loses her client's prize pooch ...
After a lifetime of impetuous mistakes, Jersey Shore pet spa owner Grace Donnelly outdoes herself when a client's prize poodle, a shoo-in to win the annual Fur Ball, goes AWOL while in her custody. With money, careers, and lives in jeopardy, Grace is not afraid to strap on the leather to go undercover in a fetish club looking for clues. Too bad her helpers consist of an aging hippie aunt, a renegade schnauzer, a drag queen, and a dominatrix or two. Worst of all, the only man truly qualified to help is her former flame, the most domineering male on the eastern seaboard.

A smokin' hot bodyguard with his own agenda ...
Texas-born security specialist Nick Jackson faces his worst nightmare when Grace's amateur investigation nearly blows his covert operation. Unless he nails the con-artist who scammed his home-town's seniors and whacked a witness, his homicidal granddaddy will take justice into his own wrinkled hands. To salvage his case, his sanity, and his ex-lover's velvety skin, Nick joins forces with the sassy crusader who rubs him the wrong way--and so many right ways too.

Together, they weather an explosion of murder, mayhem, and mystery ...
Action bounces from the upscale shore community of Saltwater Estates to a beach harboring washed-up corpses, a fancy yacht no honest preacher could possibly afford, and the bawdiest nightclub in Atlantic City. Hazards multiply like bunnies, culminating in fun, spicy romance, and a Fur Ball extravaganza the locals will never forget.

EXCERPT

When Nick freed Grace's lips, her breath was coming hard and fast. Still gasping for air, she took another risk. "Most bondage scenarios revolve around a fantasy." She paused for a beat, gathering her courage. "You said I'd be in charge," she reminded him. "I want to act out a fantasy."

He gave an audible gulp. "Anything specific?"

"Mmmm-hmmm," she said around a deep, shuddering breath. One fantasy had tantalized her thoughts and tormented her dreams ever since she'd laid eyes on Nick. Breathing hard, she raised her head. "You're the white knight. I'm a fair maiden you're rescuing from the clutches of an evil ogre who has tied her up."

His eyes blazed. "I can live with that, darlin'," he said. "Is this fair maiden conscious or unconscious?"

A wave of hot desire thickened her speech. "Sleeping. The white knight is trying to awaken her." Suffused with the heady liberation of surrender, Grace closed her eyes and held her breath. She didn't have to see Nick to feel the heat of his gaze scalding her skin. The tension became unbearable.

Then the mattress sank under his weight. Although he didn't touch her, his body radiated heat. The aroma of sandalwood and hungry male enveloped her. She compressed her lips on the moan that struggled to escape. If the white knight didn't do something, and fast, she would jump clear out of her skin--if she wasn't cuffed to the bed.

His mouth skimmed her cheek, trailed heat down her jaw line, feathered tiny kisses down her neck. He stopped above her right breast. She pictured him staring. Her nipples throbbed with anticipation, longing for the tug of his mouth.

My review:
Fur Ball Fever is a fun, romantic cozy mystery that will keep you on your toes. The chemistry between Grace and Nick is off the charts and their wacky cast of supporting characters will keep you laughing out loud.

The Accidental Familiar (Accidentals #14) by Dakota Cassidy

Blurb:
When the warlock's away, the familiar will play!

A Halloween party gone wrong will keep the OOPs crew putting out one fire after anothert. Join them this Halloween for a ghoulishly, magic-filled tale!.

The Accidental Familiar, Book 14 of the Accidentally Paranormal series by USA Today bestselling romantic comedy author Dakota Cassidy is a laugh-out-loud addition to your Halloween reading list.

Desperate to pay the rent, Broadway-star wannabe Poppy McGuillicuddy is the middle of DJ-ing a Halloween party when a mishap with a cat named Calamity changes her life forever. Suddenly, she’s a familiar—as in, a witch’s familiar. Or in her case, a warlock’s. Even more specifically, a gorgeous warlock…who wants nothing to do with her. Thank God for the ladies from OOPs, who’ve promised their help as Poppy navigates her accidental paranormal powers.

Despite his last familiar leaving him bitter and disillusioned, warlock Rick Delassantos still isn’t heartless. He’s agreed to give Poppy a few days before contacting Familiar Central and demanding she be reassigned elsewhere. But barely a day is all it takes for Poppy to become the target of some seriously bad magic, forcing Rick to keep her close to ensure her safety. Not exactly a hardship, when his new familiar is as sexy as she is sassy.

With help from the Marty, Nina and Wanda, and assorted other OOPs friends, Rick and Poppy learn some important lessons—fate works in mysterious ways; things aren’t always as they seem; and sometimes the worst evil can be found close to home!

My review:
A delightfully funny addition to the series.  The Accidental Familiar is chock full of quirky characters both old and new to us. Poppy is a terrific addition to the cast. If this book doesn’t have you singing the ghostbusters theme by the end there is something off. As usual the standard recommendations apply; don’t eat or drink anything you don’t want to gigglesnort out of your nose. Don’t read in church. Kick back and enjoy the ride. I did.

He'll do anything to protect his woman and their baby, including killing anyone who threatens their existence. But the biggest problem he faces isn't an enemy; it's getting Lily to give their love a chance.

My review:
Milly Taiden is my go to author when I want a short, hot, fun read and this story is no exception. As I was reading this I pictured in my head the fates just laughing their asses off at these two. She has been burnt but a bad marriage and he has seen what loving the wrong person can so to you. When these two meet it is all over but the screaming.  A truly fun read.

Crimson Death (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #25) by Laurell K. Hamilton

Blurb:
In her twenty-fifth adventure, vampire hunter and necromancer Anita Blake learns that evil is in the eye of the beholder...

Anita has never seen Damian, her vampire servant, in such a state. The rising sun doesn’t usher in the peaceful death that he desperately needs. Instead, he’s being bombarded with violent nightmares and blood sweats.

And now, with Damian at his most vulnerable, Anita needs him the most. The vampire who created him, who subjected him to centuries of torture, might be losing control, allowing rogue vampires to run wild and break one of their kind’s few strict taboos.

Some say love is a great motivator, but hatred gets the job done, too. And when Anita joins forces with her friend Edward to stop the carnage, Damian will be at their side, even if it means traveling back to the land where all his nightmares spring from...a place that couldn’t be less welcoming to a vampire, an assassin, and a necromancer.

My review:
After a slow start this book does pick up speed and eventually turns into the kick ass Anita Blake we all know and love. But getting there takes some doing. For those of you who love Nathaniel there are some terrific surprises in store. I personally was thrilled that the Damian/Nathaniel/Anita triumvirate got some attention. After 25 books these characters have been through some hell together. We have watched them grow and change and it was past time for this group to get their stuff together. This isn’t the best in the series but I believe she is headed in the right direction.

An Unhuman Journey (Only Human #2) by Candace Blevins

Blurb:
There’s a war brewing between good and evil, and the chess pieces are being set…

Aaron has gone missing, and Mordecai has taken over Kirsten's training. She's learning by leaps and bounds under the god-of-old’s not-so-gentle tutelage, but with Nathan in charge of Drake Security during The Dragon King’s unplanned absence, everything is upside down.

The evil Celrau vampires were banned from creating new offspring, but they’ve bargained for permission to do so in the Underworld, where the Concilio has no authority. As part of their army-building, the Celrau vampires kidnap Kirsten and take her to the Underworld with the intention of making her one of them. Alone in another realm, Kirsten must form unexpected alliances to survive a most Unhuman Journey .

Join bestselling author Candace Blevins on a thrilling adventure into the critically acclaimed sequel to Only Human .

My review:
An Unhuman Journey  is the second book in a powerful new urban fantasy series. Strap in and settle down for the rocket ride that is this book. Kirsten is training for a war on the horizon. As one of the only human combatants she is going to need every trick she can learn. Her buddy Aaron has taken off (his journey is told in The Dragon King) leaving the Lion King Nathan in charge of Drake Security and the god of old, Mordecai in charge of her training. After reading Pride I was predisposed to not like Nathan but this book had me really liking him. This book puts Kirsten through Hell and all that does is strengthen her like tempered steel. I can’t wait to see where this journey takes her to next.

Only Human (Only Human #1) by Candace Blevins

Blurb:
Book one of an exciting new urban fantasy series…

Someone is abducting women and killing men in a way to get Kirsten O’Shea’s attention. Luckily, she has some formidable friends and allies in the supernatural world, and she isn’t without her own defenses, either.

A powerful master vampire romances her while the alpha werewolf flirts with her, and an ancient being who used to be worshipped as a god wants her dead, but Kirsten survives, even if she is Only Human.

My review:
Only Human is urban fantasy with a BDSM twist. This story is filled with strong characters, puzzling mysteries and hot sex. Kirsten O’Shea is a strong 30 something woman with an adopted daughter and a college aged ward. Kirsten is a family/marriage counselor who has come to that path via an eclectic background. Kirsten is a human who is slowly being brought into a world of supernaturals. Kirsten has some gifts of her own. Gifts that no other human has and ones that make her valuable to her supernatural friends and wanted by their enemies.
Only Human is fast paced and will suck you in and not let you go till the very last page.

Ablaze (Dallas Fire & Rescue #2) by Paige Tyler

Blurb:
The heat is on…

Paramedic Lexi Fletcher is thrilled to transfer to Station 58. For one thing, her commute time is half of what it used to be. For another, Station 58 has a much better facility and far more exciting calls. It doesn’t hurt that Dane Chandler, the firefighter she’s been crushing on since joining Dallas and Rescue, works there. Okay, to tell the truth, maybe Dane is the biggest reason she requested the move!

But just when things with Dane start to heat up, Lexi’s dream job takes a turn in the freaky direction. Patients she’s been bringing to the hospital are turning up dead, even though they were in stable condition when she dropped them off. Her instincts are screaming there’s something fishy going on, but she can’t figure out what it is, and she can’t get anyone to believe her—except Dane.

Can he help her find the killer and stop him from striking again, or will Lexi become the target of a madman?

My review:
Is it getting hot in here? I love Lexi Fletcher. A paramedic Lexi is a strong woman who isn’t afraid to go for what she wants and what she wants is firefighter Dane Chandler. We met Dane in the first book Rekindled. Apparently his sister getting together with his best friend has been good for Dane because he isn’t as much of an ass in this book. It was fun seeing him fall hard for Lexi. I loved that Lexi calls Dane on his screw ups but forgives and forgets when he admits his errors and they can move on. Ablaze is full of action, adventure and love.

Wolf Betrayed (Talon Pack #4) by Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:
The Talon Pack continues with the daughter of a traitor, the man who can never be her lover, and another man she should never want…her enemy.

Charlotte Jamenson was born to the Pack that threatened the world, but grew up in the one that saved it. She’s spent her entire life repenting for lies and faults that were never hers to bear. When she falls for her best friend, Bram Devlin, she thinks she’s finally found forgiveness for the blood in her veins; only a mating bond never came.

Bram knows there’s something missing within his mating with Charlotte, but there’s nothing he can do about it. Their Pack is in danger, and it’s his duty to protect their Alpha—even if it means sacrificing his life. When he’s put in charge of protecting a new member of the Talon Pack, he realizes he and Charlotte may just have a chance at something more than heartache.

Shane Bruins sacrificed his life and his future to protect the Packs from the men he worked for. Now, thanks to circumstances beyond his control, he’s not quite who he was before, and his life is on the line yet again. Only this time, he isn’t alone, and the two wolves in his path might be the only things that can calm the beast inside.

The war isn’t coming, it’s here, and the Talon Pack will have to rely on three souls who know they aren’t what each other wants—but exactly what they need—to win.

My review:
Sometimes you just have to get over yourself. That was my feelings about Charlotte Jamenson. For a strong wolf she was boohooing because of her past and the fact that the mate bond hadn’t happened with Bram, the wolf she just knew was her mate. Sometimes you just have to breathe and let it be. When Charlotte and Bram meet the newest addition to the Talon pack it becomes very clear why the mate bond didn’t happen. It was waiting for Shane, their third. Now if he can only live long enough to make it happen. They all have a lot to overcome but they have a lot of love to make it worth the battle.  Another fantastic addition to the Talon Pack by Carrie Ann Ryan.

Only For Your Touch by Naima Simone

Blurb:
The Boston press calls her the Mob Princess. I call her trouble.

Discretion is my business, and the reporters dogging her every step are bad news. She’s looking to rebel, to tarnish her naïve “good girl” image by getting dirty with me. I gave up a career as a thief, but Corrine Salvaggi’s wide eyes and sinful mouth damn near begs me to steal her innocence. To corrupt her.

Lucky for her, I deal in sex.

Whatever your fantasy, I deliver. Voyeurism. Threesomes. A little slap and tickle.…

If it’s your kink, I can fulfill it.

So yeah, life is good. Simple.

Until she enters my club.

Still…

It’s just sex. Our little secret.

For now...

My review:
It is a classic case of a bad boy and a good girl who are all wrong for each other except they are perfect for each other. Sasha Merchant grew up on the streets. He has gone clean and is running, with his two buddies, an aphrodisiac club.  Corrine is the sheltered daughter of a mobster kingpin looking to rebel a little bit. When these two get together it is naughty, sexy and totally hot. A fun addition to this series but can be read standalone.

Grayslake: More than Mated: Bear Up by Mina Carter

Blurb:
Girl meets boy = classic love story. Girl meets bear... Wait, what?

Small town girl Kacie has always known there was something odd about Lizards Lick, but she doesn't expect that oddity to almost claim her life or land her in the arms of her long-term crush; hot veteran Dean. Okay, he's nuts but she can't argue with that, not with a body like his or when he's whispering things like 'fated' and 'destiny'. Even if he does claim to be a werebear...

She's his mate, but she's human. He's so screwed...

Leader of the Lizard Lick bear clan, Dean is between a rock and a hard place. His fated mate is human but he daren't claim her. The elitist asshats in the clan would have kittens. But when an attack brings her over into the bear world, he's out of time and out of options. Even worse, the town has an rogue bear problem and internal clan politics that put Kacie in the crossfire.

Forced to fight battles on all fronts, Dean must bear up or risk losing her forever...

My review:
Fun bear shifter romance. When Kacie was attacked she never guessed that the guy she has been lusting after forever would be the one to rescue her. But she doesn’t even have time to get a good case of hero worship going because the hits just keep on coming. Turns out Dean is a bear shifter and not just any ol bear shifter but the head guy, Can Kacie survive in his world? This story is a fast paced, sometimes silly romp but well worth the read.

Unlucky Charms by Linda O Johnston

Blurb:
Rory Chasen, manager of the Lucky Dog Boutique in Destiny, California, hopes her new line of good-luck doggy toys will be a hit, especially the stuffed rabbits with extra-large feet. The timing of the line’s debut proves ill-fated, though, as several local shops—including Rory’s—are ransacked and vandalized with spilled salt and other unlucky charms.

The most likely culprit is disgruntled real estate agent Flora Curtival, whose issues with the town give her a motive. But after Flora is murdered and one of Rory’s toy rabbits is found with the body, Rory needs all the luck she can get while trying to determine just who killed the superstitious vandal.

My review:
Unlucky Charms is a fun cozy mystery. It is the third in the series which I didn’t know when I got it but it can be read stand alone.  Destiny, California is a town built on superstitions. It’s their hook. Its what makes them a unique destination. So when local businesses start suffering a string of bad luck the town needs it to stop quickly. The pressure is on police Chief Justin Halbertson to solve it. When his girlfriend Rory Chasen becomes the prime suspect in a murder things get really intense. Who will solve the mystery first? I really enjoyed the interaction between Rory and Justin. I love the supporting cast even the four legged ones. I think I would have enjoyed this more having read the first two but on its own it is still a fun read.

The Trouble with Mistletoe (Heartbreaker Bay #2) by Jill Shalvis

Blurb:
If she has her way ...

Willa Davis is wrangling puppies when Keane Winters stalks into her pet shop with frustration in his chocolate-brown eyes and a pink bedazzled cat carrier in his hand. He needs a kitty sitter, stat. But the last thing Willa needs is to rescue a guy who doesn’t even remember her ...

He’ll get nothing but coal in his stocking.

Saddled with his great-aunt’s Feline from Hell, Keane is desperate to leave her in someone else’s capable hands. But in spite of the fact that he’s sure he’s never seen the drop-dead-gorgeous pet shop owner before, she seems to be mad at him ...

Unless he tempers “naughty” with a special kind of nice ...

Willa can’t deny that Keane’s changed since high school: he’s less arrogant, for one thing—but can she trust him not to break her heart again? It’s time to throw a coin in the fountain, make a Christmas wish—and let the mistletoe do its work ...

My review:
Jill Shalvis proves you can write a small town romance in the big city. Neighborhoods are small villages in the big city. Cowtown is one such neighborhood in San Francisco and where this story takes place.  The Trouble with Mistletoe is a rapid fire romance. Willa and Keane go from cold to combustible in a few short weeks. I liked Willa. She has a heart of gold and a great support system. Keane grew on me and I ended up liking him a whole lot as well. I really like these characters and really want Elle & Archers story.

Neal turns to Shannon for help to track down the rogue wolf, but working together stirs emotions neither of them expected, and a fiery passion that makes it impossible for them to stay away from each other. But is Neal ready to learn all of Shannon’s secrets?

My review:
m/m
His Big Bad Wolf is a short sexy tale of a turned werewolf finding his mate. This story is short and intense. My only real problem was Neal’s easy acceptance of  Shannon’s wolf after having seen it at a grisly murder site. But other than that I really enjoyed this story.

Legal Wolf's Mate by Eve Langlais

Blurb:
Part of the "Growl" anthology (Also available as a single)

In Legal Wolf's Mate, taking on a pro bono murder case isn't a problem for a lawyer who enjoys a challenge. Discovering that his new client is his mate? A tad more complicated. Gavin has no intention of settling down, especially not with a woman accused of murder, but once he sets eyes on Megan, his fate is sealed.

My review:
Legal Wolf's Mate by Eve Langlais is sweet, sexy and full of surprises. Gavin is a successful lawyer and turned werewolf. Megan is a bad girl who is wrongfully accused of her boss’s murder.  Gavin agrees to take the case as a favor for a friend. What he doesn’t expect is for the curvy bundle of trouble to be his one true mate. He isn’t happy and neither is Megan but Gavin loves a challenge and Megan is the sexiest challenge he has ever had. I love the interplay between these equally strong partners.

But Julie isn't the only one after her father's research. Someone-or something-evil is tracking Julie's every move...

My review:
A sweet, sexy second chance romance License to Shift is well worth the read. Mark is a grizzly shape shifter fighting not to go feral. Julie’s dad is an academic collecting stories that may hold the answers. Now Julies dad is in the hospital and Julie is back to take care of him. But Mark isn‘t the only one who wants the answers and Julie may be in danger. Mark is going to protect her from all threats even if he is the biggest one. I really enjoyed these characters.
