My review:

I loved this paranormal romantic suspense story. I love Milly Taidens’ short curvy girl romances. I read them for a quick pick me up. The Bear King's Captive is much longer than anything else I’ve read from her but I devoured it just the same. The rush to get to sexy times wasn’t there. She could develop the relationship between the characters more so that by the time they got to bed it was explosive. A big Finnish bear shifter and a sassy Latina make for a super fun tale.

My review:

Holy moly! This is an intense and sexy read. I quickly became invested in these two characters. They seemed very real to me. Wyatt Callahan proves that an alpha male can submit to the right woman. He needs it to be with Michelle and to help with his PTSD. Michelle needs the control but is afraid of giving her heart away only to lose it. This is a complex and moving story. Still is the first of a two book story. I am off to read Penance (Long Slow Tease #2) the conclusion to this story.

My review:

Jill Shalvis gets that even in a small town life has its challenges. Sophie Marren is dealing with the challenge of starting over. She has made some poor choices in the past, her ex-husband and the decision to take his boat in the divorce. But she is moving on and trying to make better choices. Army Special Forces officer Jacob Kincaid, yes one of those Kincaids, is trying to make better choices too. Not that serving his country was a bad choice but the way he left things with his twin and the rest of the family is on him and he needs to figure out how to make it right. Sophie and Jacob may just be the best thing that has happened to each of them now if they could get out of their own way.

Nobody But You is the latest from the queen of small town romance and a must read.

On the passing of a sibling

Many folks don’t know that I have, well had, two sisters. They may know of or have met my big sister Debby. But I also had a sister Connie. She passed away on Saturday. I am saddened by this in a totally selfish way. Connie and I have never been close. She was three years older than me whereas Debby is six years older than me. I don’t know why Connie disliked me. She never told me and if she told anyone else they haven’t shared. I feel truly sorry about this. For years I took the high road sending birthday and holiday cards with no response. She was informed of the birth of my children and some of the major life accomplishments along the way. No response. When my youngest graduated from high school and there was still no response I admit I gave up. I stopped sending cards and making any effort. I would hear about her on occasion from Debby or my brother who she would occasionally speak to. And now she is gone and the chance to make amends or at least find out why is gone and this saddens me. Selfish, yes, but still. I would love to say that she made a positive impact while she was alive but alas I don’t know that either. I know she was married for a very short time but I never met him and as I said they weren’t together long. I don’t know what she did for a living or what she did for fun. But I know that she was a troubled woman who could hold a grudge whether real or imagined for a very long time. I am saddened that I am saddened more by the loss of what could have been rather than what was. I know that you can’t make someone like you but when that someone is family it hurts that much more.

Welcome to this peek into the mess that is my mind and thanks for allowing me to vent. If this makes you reach out to someone estranged in your life that is terrific if it allows you to know that you are not alone in your situation that is cool too.

My review:

Countdown to Zero Hour is the first in a new romantic suspense series. This book reads like a television show. Russian mobsters and a secret black ops company, the thing that saves this book is that it is Art’s first job with Automatik so he can be forgiven the breaches in protocol and I adored Hayley. While she is a civilian in all this she doesn’t let anything get her down for long. She holds her own even when scared spitless. Check your brain at the door and enjoy.

It has been 3 years and other than a horrible failed vanilla relationship Kaden doesn’t have much of a love life. Kaden is a service sub with masochistic tendencies. He longs to serve. When he meets Deacon James the chemistry is instant and combustible. But it is going to take some serious work on Deacon’s part to help Kaden overcome his self-esteem issues about being wheelchair bound while finding creative ways for them to be together. I usually don’t like whiney characters but Deacon kept me from hating Kaden. I also squick out on some masochistic practices but I think that the way Deacon used them to help Kaden made them more acceptable to me.  Mostly this is a kinky sweet love story.

A Mate's Redeeming Touch is an incredibly sweet story of two damaged souls finding each other and the courage it takes for them to allow the other to heal them. I usually don’t like characters like Caitlyn. She is timid and has taken on guilt not rightfully hers. But she pulls it together when she finds her mate and her being a service oriented submissive wolf may be the only thing that can get through Ven’s anger at the world. Watching these two find each other and a chance at the future was truly enjoyable and a great addition to this series.

Fate is a bitch and she doesn’t care who she has to kill in order for her matches to happen.  In A Cougar Among Wolves, Kali Willows puts her characters through hell in order to get to their hea. A fast paced, heart wrenching tale of love found.

War between the supernaturals and humans is imminent and Jac, the last Valkyrie, who is just now coming into her powers is the fortold one. She is the key to stopping it. With help from a Gargoyle, an Oni demon, an Archangel, a fallen angel and a band of misfits she can do it but at what cost? This is a fun read with a sexy ménage.

My Name is Cer - Mythogical Messes Redux by Tilly Greene – This was my favorite and is the kinkiest of the six. We all know that Cerberus is a 3 headed hellhound and the Guardian of the Underworld. What happens when he escorts Persephone, the Queen of the Underworld, to modern day London? I adored Cer. In his human form he is a big sexy puppy. He is stubborn, loyal and playful. When he meets a woman that knocks his socks off there isn’t much he wouldn’t do for her. This one will require you to believe in magic.

Sealed in Blood- The Hellbound Chronicles by Christine Alvarez – Never make a deal with a demon. They will find a way to screw you over. Claire is the daughter of an angel and a human. When she was 5 her mother was dying and summoned a demon and bound it to protect Claire. What she didn’t realize was the demon added a clause that said he got to take Claires’ soul when she turned 25. It is two days before her 25^th birthday and the demon sends a human/hellhound hybrid Kyon to collect but Kyon’s hellhound side claims her for his mate. Keeping her safe is going to be a full time job.

Goated by the Gods by Sheri Lyn – m/m This story had me laughing out loud. This is a story of 3 brothers affected by a temper tantrum Thor threw a thousand years ago. Thor wants to make it right so he and Loki go into the match making business. They are going to find the 3 goat shifter brothers their mates. Much hilarity ensues.

Loving the Monster Within by Cassidy Kristi O'Connor – This is a sweet tale of redemption and love. Penelope works in a battered womens shelter and cries on the shoulder of the gargoyle on the roof. She doesn’t know he can come to life until he does to save her life. A fun sexy romp.

I love anthologies where I can try new to me authors or try new stuff from authors I know. This is a hot read that will take you to new places in your imagination.

Fantastic! Naughty Wishes Part III: Mind takes us into the dynamics between Chris and Geoff. I think the physical was easier for them then the mental and emotional and Joey W. Hill does an absolutely fantastic job of taking them and by extension us through it with class and sensitivity. The sex is hot but the love is hotter. A fantastic addition to this serial.

My review:

I love this series. Hot guys and hero dogs what’s not to like? In Primal Force we meet the cop Lauray "Law" Batisse and the con Jori Garrison. Law is an injured former MP who lost his K-9 partner and who suffers from ptsd. He is hesitant to hook up with a service dog that looks like a cheez doodle. Jori Garrison trains dogs for Warrior Wolf Pack, which provides service animals for disabled veterans a skill she picked up while wrongfully incarcerated. There is chemistry between Jori and the surly cop but she is hesitant. When these two finally get together the fireworks can be seen from here. Between the cheez doodle and Jori, Law may just be able to take his place in the land of the living. Primal Force is non-stop action, adventure and romance. A truly fun read.

My review:

Kru is unapologetically a very bad dude. He ran from Magnum and left his sister with her abusive husband but his time away has allowed him to grow and he has kept his wolf’s hunting needs fulfilled by being a contract killer. When he takes a job against his better judgment to kill Craven Salvador, President of the Vipers motorcycle club he finds himself set up and on the run with Cravens baby sister and his potential mate.  They need to find out who killed Craven and set him up and then he has to figure out how to be the mate that Gabby deserves. A Wolf's Contract is a high energy, fast paced good read.

Just as Brianna unlocked her door and started to open it, she caught a glimpse of something to her right. “I said don't fucking fight me!” His voice was filled with anger as he backhands her across the face again, this time splitting her lip. How in the world can this thin man hit this damn hard? He had recovered from the heel to the foot, and now had her arms again, squeezing them tight.

      “You think you can get away from me?” He says glaring at her. “Not this time. This time I will have your full attention. No passing me by with only a nod.”

My review:

Verity is back. She still has no real job but she has her skunk, Lucy, and her ghost friend, Frankie and her maybe romance with her ex’s brother Ellis but things are looking up because the new manager at the bank wants her to do some work for them. Too bad he got dead right after offering her the work. When Frankie recognizes the killers signature as belonging to a ghost buddy of his it is time for Verity and Ellis to do a little sleuthing on their own. And like any book by Angie Fox hilarity ensues. The Haunted Heist is a silly, short and super fun escape. I highly recommend.

My review:
Dark Panther is a sexy shifter romance with some twists.  Leia meets Nathan in her favorite bookstore and the attraction is there from the very beginning but she is cautious. She has an ex who is a shifter and he has been stalking her. He is her ex because he was abusive and she had had enough. She is afraid of herself and for anyone she might become involved with but Nathan attracts her enough that she might just take the chance.
There is a lot going on in this story and the author keeps you guessing. I like that Leia thinks things through and is trying to be independent. I like that Nathan, despite appearances, isn’t perfect but he wants to be for Leia.
Dark Panther is a fast paced sexy read that may push some hot buttons if you have problems with violence. I really enjoyed this book.

Cooking done well requires passion. Chefs Trevor & Elaine have passion to spare but in the kitchen it comes out as bitchen’. They are tricked into being alone with each other in an attempt work out a way to ease the tension between them. Turns out the tension in the kitchen can be turned into passion in the bedroom.  Snowbound Seduction is a smoking hot, super fun read.
