The Finn Factor by Rachel Bailey

Blurb:
Sometimes all a girl needs is a little practice...

It's been twelve months, three days, and eleven hours since accounting student Scarlett Logan made it past a second date. A pitcher of mojitos in hand, she employs her supreme graphing skills to narrow things down to one horrifying explanation. Kissing. Clearly someone needs to teach her how to kiss properly. Like, say, her best friend and roomie, Finn Mackenzie. He's safe, he's convenient, and yeah, maybe just a little gorgeous.

Finn knows exactly why Scarlett's boyfriends are disappearing quickly. Him. Not a single guy she's brought home is nearly good enough. And he'll be damned if he lets some loser give her "kissing lessons." No. He'll do the honors, thank you very much. The moment their lips touch, though, everything turns upside down. But Scarlett deserves the one thing Finn can't give her. And if he doesn't put an end to the sexy little shenanigans, he'll teach Scarlett the hardest lesson of all...heartbreak.

My review:
The Finn Factor by Rachel Bailey is a sweet friends to lovers story. Finn is the responsible guy. He lost his parents and took over raising his 2 younger sisters when he was just a kid himself. He doesn’t have time or the inclination for love. Only Scarlett has been able to slip in. Scarlett has been his best friend ever since he rescued her from a beat down from his former roommate. Scarlett is the child of ever roaming hippies and just wants some stability and normalcy in her life.  A boyfriend would be nice too but she can’t seem to get past a second date. Maybe Finn can help her find out what she has been doing wrong.
These characters are so sweet and fun you spend the whole book rooting for them to figure it out. So relax, grab a cold one and enjoy.

Harvest Moon (Moon #4) by Lisa Kessler

Blurb:
Some wolves were never meant for a mate...

Dr. Jason Ayers unleashes all of his rage and his frustration through fists and brute force in an underground boxing ring. The werewolf may be the pack’s doctor, but he can’t even heal his coma-stricken father after the Nero Organization’s attack stopped his heart. And as his Pack brothers settle down around him, he still refuses to believe in the fairy tale notion that every wolf has a true mate...

In hiding and on the run, nurse Kilani Akamu is a loose end that Nero is desperate to tie up. She can't afford to be attracted to a doctor—especially one as unexpectedly hot and complex as Jason. Yet the sexual sparks arcing between them are undeniable...and Kilani's precognitive senses warn her that temptation is inevitable.

All it takes is one touch to send Jason's wolf howling. But even if he could protect her from Nero, he can't protect her from himself...

My review:
Harvest Moon is pack Dr. Jason Ayers story. Jason doesn’t believe in the whole destined mate myth until he finds his destined mate, nurse Kilani Akamu. It is so much fun watching him get his due especially after what he put Gareth and Nadya through in Blood Moon (Moon #3). Jason is struggling with his perceived failures as pack doctor. He uses illegal underground boxing to ease his stress. Harvest Moon reveals new secrets about the connections between the pack and Nero. I love this world and this pack and am anxiously awaiting the next adventure. You could probably read this book standalone but I heartily recommend reading the others in this series first. You will get so much more out of it if you do.

Pale Moon Walking by Paula Altenburg

Blurb:
Where the outlaws are out of this world...

US Marshall Sam Kyote has been sent to the dry old town of Coyote Bluff to recuperate from a top-secret government experiment that's left this law man a little...well, different. But Sam's about to find out that the town of Coyote Bluff has a whole lot of secrets. Most of which lead to Libby Mayden-the sexy, long-legged, and tight-lipped sheriff who saved his ass from an alien ambush.

The last thing Libby needs is a US Marshall poking around her town, especially one who's hotter than the Nevada desert sun. She can't let Sam find out most of her town are wanted outlaws. Between the aliens, the gunfighters, and a searing sexual attraction to Sam, she's in a whole heap of trouble. And Libby'll stride both sides of the law-and Sam-until she's forced to choose between self-preservation...and her heart.

My review:
Cowboys and Aliens oh my! This book is reminds me of old episodes of the Wild, Wild West. You have the government agents and high tech toys in US Marshall Sam Kyote. You have the bad girl gone good in Coyote Bluff Sherriff Libby Mayden. There are bad guys in the shape of aliens and the occasional politician. Romance and secrets.  This is an all around fun read.

Initiation (The Warrior #1) by Rebecca Royce

Blurb:
Keep your friends close...and your enemies closer.
Rachel Clancy has had to learn the hard way that you can't always trust who you know.

Born with a specific set of genes that lets her fight monsters, Rachel has trained her entire life to kill vampires and werewolves. Unprepared for the level of deception and betrayal she faces as she journeys Upwards to battle her enemies, it's not long before Rachel finds herself on a quest that will alter the lives of everyone she knows.

Including Rachel's...

*This book was previously published and has been extensively re-edited for your enjoyment*

My review:
I LOVE THIS BOOK! I rarely read YA but this was put out by a new favorite author of mine so I figured why not give it a shot. Boy am I glad I did. This is a post-apocalyptic tale of a young woman coming into her own. There are Vampires, Werewolves and Humans oh my. Where there are humans there will be angst. Rachel is a young woman who was forced to grow up beyond her years but there are things that she is incredibly naïve about. It was really fun watching her grow. Bring on the next book.

Bearly in Time (Drummond Island Bears Book 1) by Erin Kelly

Blurb:
First book in a new series. This is a complete story with a HEA and no cliffhangers.

Carrie Sylvan's on the run. Her ex-fiance is stalking her, determined to get her back. She stands up to him, refuses to back down, and drives to a remote island determined to start a new life. The last thing she expects is to fall in love with boat captain Jack, but there's more to the handsome man than meets the eye.

Jack Chambers is happy running Drummond's Dream, a local ferry to the mainland, drinking gourmet coffee, and spending weekends letting his bear run free in the forest that covers most of Drummond Island. Most of his bear shifter friends have found their mates, but he refuses to believe in the werebear myth of fated mates. At least, he didn't think fate had someone in store for him...until he met a curvy, gorgeous woman on his boat that he can't stop thinking about.

Carrie's too frightened to trust anyone, but Jack's determined to win her heart and her hand in marriage. But there are treacherous waters ahead when Carrie's stalker finds her once again. Will Jack's bear be strong enough to keep Carrie safe and make her his mate?

My review:
I love shifter tales so I volunteered to read and review Bearly in Time (Drummond Island Bears Book 1) by Erin Kelly. The characters were likable, the plot transparent, the location was fun and the secondary characters saved it from being a total loss.

Beyond the Call of Duty by Tracy Tappan

Blurb:
Eric “LZ” O’Dwyer, a senior lieutenant stationed out of San Diego, is in command of his own helicopter detachment out of the HSM-75 Wolf Pack. Deployed off the coast of South America on a counterdrug operation, Eric jumps at the chance to take down a ruthless drug lord. But to do it, he’ll have to join forces with badass DEA Agent Nicole Gamboa. Infiltrating the drug lord’s mansion is crucial to the mission, and to pull it off, Eric and Nicole have to play out an intimate scene together that leaves them both reeling. In the aftermath, Eric wants to foster something real with Nicole, but there is a secret part of Nicole’s life that makes a relationship impossible. The mission erupts again, and Nicole and Eric end up relying on each other in ways they’d never predicted. The stakes are raised to their highest when the drug lord gains the upper hand, and living or dying hinges on a final showdown between Nicole and her past…and whether Eric can get to her in time!

Content warning: contains profanity and adult situations.

My review:
High octane read that will leave you breathless. Beyond the Call of Duty is real and gritty and oh so good. LZ is sweet and serious. Nicole just wants to be judged for what she can do not what she looks like. If you pick it up you won’t be able to put it down.

Packing Heat by Kele Moon

Blurb:
Dark and brooding firefighter Brad Archer has spent months denying his attraction to his roommate, police officer Gavin Connolly. Gavin is just the kind of guy he likes: tall, tough, and buff enough to actually handle Brad's big size and rough nature.

To hide his real feelings Brad holds the handsome, seemingly straight cop at arms' length until a shooting at work leaves Gavin a little too vulnerable to ignore. What starts out as a simple attempt to comfort his roommate blows up into something wild, sexual, and wholly unexpected when Gavin wants more from Brad than a strong firefighter's shoulder to lean on.

The sexual magnetism drawing the two of them together forces secrets to be revealed, and though the sex is mind-blowing it may not be worth weathering the storms their relationship could stir up.

Note: This is an erotic gay romance about a cop and and a firefighter doing very naughty things to each other. Only for readers who like their men big, buff and sinfully sexy.
~Rerelease. Originally published 2012

My review:
Packing Heat is a short smoking hot m/m firefighter/cop erotic romance. These guys are big and rough and buff and stuff. For such a short story there is a lot covered. Raunchy, fun with a bit of angst I got a kick out of this story.

Omega (War of the Alphas #1) by S.M. Reine

Blurb:
Ten years ago, Deirdre Tombs died. When she was reborn the next day, Deirdre had become a shapeshifter who can't shift shapes. Nobody knows what animal she's supposed to be. She's definitely not a werewolf. The Alpha, Rylie Gresham, can't force her to transform like other members of her pack.

Now Deirdre is considered an omega, the weakest shapeshifter in the pack--a vulnerable position when Everton Stark demands tribute from Rylie. He wants to be the dominant Alpha. The only Alpha. And he plans to make her pack submit whether they want to or not. Stark can make every shapeshifter obey him by force of will alone.

Every shapeshifter except Deirdre.

The shifter who can't shift is the only hope for Rylie to win the war against Stark. It will take everything Deirdre has to survive undercover in his den. But can an omega's will be stronger than that of a charismatic, deadly Alpha like Everton Stark?

My review:
The world has been undone and remade in this fascinating new urban fantasy. The war of good and evil still rages but who decides who is good and who is evil? Deirdre Tombs is a shifter who can’t shift but seems to be desired by both sides. She just wants to be left alone. She is nobody’s hero. But she is. Up until recently both sides treated her rather poorly. Which side will she choose? This is a fascinating, fast paced, well written tale and I look forward to where we go from here.

Bear Meets Girl (BBW Paranormal Shapeshifter Werebear Romance) (Order Of Protection Series) by Catherine Vale

Bear Meets Girl (BBW Paranormal Shapeshifter Werebear Romance) (Order Of Protection Series)
by Catherine Vale

Blurb:
San Fran would be a great place to visit if it weren't for the damn shifters...

The locals may not realize it, but they live amongst a growing community of supernaturals. It may look like an ordinary city in the daylight, but when the lights go down, the streets are crawling with vamps, were-bears, wolves, and fae, and they aren’t exactly following the laws of man.

Angela Mason, a liaison with the Order Of Protection, is an experienced protector, and it’s her job to guard the shape-shifting community, and clean up the streets when things get out of hand.

When a fight breaks out, and her partner goes missing, Angela finds herself caught in the middle of a secret mission, where the safety of her family is on the line, as well as her heart.

Cole Avery is a shifter mercenary, a ruggedly beautiful man who is dedicated to getting the job done. His reputation as a ruthless protector stands on its own, so when he is put on the case, Angela knows he won't fail her.

What she doesn't expect is to feel such a strong connection to the gorgeous were-bear, or to find herself distracted from such an important mission.

Thankfully Cole's rule of never mixing business with pleasure will keep them focused... At least until the enemy is defeated!

Note To Readers: This is the first book in the Order Of Protection Series. However, every book is a stand alone and can be read in any order you choose. Adult content. 18+ only, please.

My review:
Angela Mason is a bear shifter and paranormal cop. Cole Avery is something else. In this tale we enter a fascinating world of humans and supernaturals trying to co-exist. I love Angela. She is a strong woman who is doing a job she loves and a heart the size of Texas. Cole is the one with the angst. This is not your typical shifter story and although it is short it is a full tale with a happy ending. I can’t wait to revisit.

Ghost of You (Phantoms #3) by Kelly Moran

Blurb:
The safest place is with the guy she doesn't trust...

It's no secret amongst the Phantoms crew that lead investigator Sammy Hanesworth pretty much hates psychologist Cain McClutchen. The tension between them is taut with dislike...and unexpected attraction. Cain knows full well that something about him rubs Sammy the wrong way. But now they're on a terrifying case-with orders from the network to get along or else.

Filled with past horrors, the Nebraskan site is more than creepy. And Sammy knows it all too well. It's her hometown and near the place where her mother was killed. As the sinister presence makes itself known, Sammy finds herself turning to the last person she ever expected-Cain. Even as darkness surrounds them, tensions gives way to something bright and unexpectedly intimate. But nothing will prepare them for the evil they are about to face...

My review:
Kelly Moran’s elegantly crafted tale of love and horror will have you holding your breath and sighing gustily. This multi-layered tale takes you into the darkness but gives you a hell of a flashlight. We are presented with the evil mystery in a small town in Nebraska and the other mystery that is Sammy Hanesworth. Psychologist Cain McClutchen is determined to get to the bottom of each. Turn the lights on, strap in and get ready for a hell of a read. Well done Ms. Moran.

If You Only Knew by Kristan Higgins

Blurb:
Sisterhood in all its drama, hilarity and tears is at the heart ofNew York Times bestselling author Kristan Higgins's thoroughly captivating new novel, featuring the wit and romance that readers have come to expect from the much-loved creator of the Blue Heron series...

Wedding-dress designer Jenny Tate understands the happily-ever-after business, yet somehow she's still involved in her ex-husband's life. In fact, Owen's new wife may—inexplicably—be Jenny's new best friend. Sensing this, well, relationship isn't helping her move on, Jenny trades the Manhattan skyline for her hometown up the Hudson, where she'll be able to bask in her sister Rachel's picture-perfect family life…and hopefully make one of her own.

Her timing couldn't be more perfect, since Rachel will need her younger sister. Her idyllic marriage has just fallen to pieces in spectacular fashion after she discovers her husband sexting with one of his colleagues. Second chances aren't in Rachel's nature, but the desire for an intact family has her rethinking her stance on adultery, much to Jenny's surprise. Rachel points to their parents' "perfect" marriage as a shining example, but to protect her sister Jenny may have to tarnish that memory—and their relationship—and reveal a secret about their family she's been keeping since childhood.

During this summer of secrets and lies, temptation and revelation, Jenny and Rachel will rely on each other to find the humor in their personal catastrophes, the joy in their triumphs…and the strength to keep hanging on.

My review:
This book contains all you expect from and more. This may be her best work yet. This isn’t her usual small ton romance. Kristan Higgins has taken it up a notch. This is a tale of two sisters finding themselves. There is romance and angst and humor and yes there is a dog. This is not a fluffy feel good book. There is real meat to the story and I will read and re-read this one again and again.

The Viscount and the Witch by Sahara Kelly

Blurb:
The greatest magic of all comes from the heart...

Rhys, Viscount Hadley, is the practical sort. A true gentleman of the Ton, he leaves London at his Uncle’s request to render counsel to the daughter of an old friend. Riding through the country to a small Hampshire village, he has no idea where this journey is headed.
Lady Alice Korte-Giddenhurst senses his imminent arrival. She has strange gifts — talents for which there are no rational or scientific explanations. She knows, in that mystical place within her mind, that Rhys will be more than just a visitor. So much more. And she finds herself eager to begin their dance of desire.
When Rhys arrives, he’s thunderstruck — the woman welcoming him seems to be glowing. Or maybe it’s just the immediate and powerful attraction he feels toward her. Whatever it is, he’s intrigued enough to stay for dinner…and thus the adventure begins.

My review:
I won an audio copy of this delightful story from the author. My husband and I listened to The Viscount and the Witch on a road trip. We had fun chuckling together. The Viscount and the Witch is a fun historical mystery and romance. I guessed wrong on the perpetrator but was right about most all of the rest. My husband is not big on romance or historicals but he got a kick out of this story too. The narrator did a good job of voicing the characters and made a boring trip more fun.

All of Me (Covington Cove #2) by Kelly Moran

Blurb:
A “fantastic”* new romance from the author of Return to Me and "one of the top 10 reads of 2013"

For ten months, bestselling novelist Alec Winston hasn’t been able to type a single word, and he’s coming dangerously close to breaching his publishing contract. An invitation from his brother to spend the summer in Wilmington Beach might be just the thing to blast through his writer’s block. Yet Alec discovers more than a spark of inspiration on the sunny sands. He meets an amber-eyed muse who makes him think about much more than books . . .

Faith Armstrong has finally gathered the courage to leave her past behind and accepted a job as a private tutor, hoping for a fresh start on the North Carolina coast. This is the home she’s always longed for—not just a place, but a state of mind. She’s felt invisible her whole life, so the host of new friends and the attention of a sexy author have her head spinning.

But Alec has a secret that could prove this isn’t the life Faith dreamed of after all . . .

My review:
Life has dealt a nasty deal to Faith Armstrong and yet she goes on with a good and caring heart. Life has also dealt a nasty deal to bestselling horror novelist Alec Winston and it is affecting his ability to write. An invitation from his brother to spend the summer in Wilmington Beach might be just the thing to blast through his writer’s block. Faith Armstrong has finally gathered the courage to leave her past behind and accepted a job as a private tutor, hoping for a fresh start on the North Carolina coast. These two damaged individuals just might be perfect for each other.
Faith is incredibly strong although she doesn’t appear that way from the outside. But I absolutely fell for her. Alec has grown comfortable wallowing in his pain and misery. When Faith breaks through his gloom he can write again but can she kick start his heart as well? I’ll admit there were times in this book that I hated Alec for striking out in pain at the easiest target, Faith. But when he gets the stick out of his ass he is a pretty good guy.
This is the second in the series but can be read stand alone.  Kelly Moran will have you laughing and crying and squirming and sighing. Another fabulous story.

Brightest Shadow (The Mythical Knights, Book #0.5) by Candice Gilmer

Blurb:
The darkest shadows sometimes have the brightest moments.

The Mythical Knights, book #0.5

Losing a father is always hard, losing a father who’s a pillar of the community is harder.

Losing a father who’s the alpha of your werewolf pack is harder still, yet that’s exactly where David Drigan finds himself--lost and rudderless after the death of his father.

Nonetheless, the final transformation to turn David into the leader has yet to come to him, leaving him and his family wondering, will he ever be strong enough to lead his pack?

Trying to step into his place in society, David meets Kelsey.

Blonde. Curvy. Attitude.

And a little dark.

There’s just something about her that makes David’s beastly desires surface unlike ever before. The need to take her and protect her, if only from herself, overwhelms him.

Not that Kelsey would let him. She doesn’t need anyone to take care of her. Never has. An absentee family taught her one thing--take care of yourself, because no one’s going to do it for you.

But this David guy? There’s just something different about him. At first, she thought it was because his family actually likes each other--a foreign concept for sure.

One night at her favorite decrepit amusement park, she learns there’s a lot more to David than she ever expected.

There’s a lot hidden in the shadows.

Can they find the light, lost in the dark?

My review:
David is morning the loss of his father and Alpha. He is worried because he is to inherit the mantle but it hasn’t happened yet.
Kelsey is as independent as they come. If someone does something for you they probably want something in return or will hold it over you so no thanks she will do it on her own.
From the moment David meets Kelsey he wants to protect her and do for her. It takes him a bit to figure out that the reason he is feeling that way is because she is his fated mate. It is going to take more than a smile and a wink to claim her.
Brightest Shadow takes us into a world where not everything is as it seems. There is a Hell Gate in Kansas for goodness sakes. Weird things are happening. The weirdness envelopes David and Kelsey and it is all they can do to keep it from swallowing them whole. This is a book filled with action, adventure, mystery and love.

Abandoned and Unseen (Branded Packs #2) by Alexandra Ivy and Carrie Ann Ryan

Blurb:

Branded Packs Book 2

Abandoned

When bear shifter, Anya Tucker fell in love with the wrong man, the only thing she left with was a broken heart—and her two bear cubs. Now she’s mended her wounds and learned that in order to raise her babies she can only trust herself. When her sons meet the lazy cat next door and fall heads over tails for him, she’ll do whatever she takes to protect them—even from a past she’d thought she’d left behind.

Cole McDermott is a jaguar on a mission. Long naps, a willing woman, and a full stomach is usually all he needs when it comes to relaxing after a long day of protecting his Pack. Then he meets Anya and the burn of temptation is silky and tantalizing indeed. When a horror from Anya’s past threatens everything she loves, Cole will put everything aside and fight for her family—as well as his own.

Unseen

Nicole Bradley had no reason to live after the humans murdered her son. Not until she learns to hunt down those responsible for his death. Shifting into her wolf form at night, she slips out of the compound, determined to do as much damage as possible. The last thing she expected was to discover secrets that could destroy the SAU.

Polar shifter, Tucker Stone, lives off the grid. It’s the only way the Unseen can avoid being rounded up by the humans and tossed into a compound. Besides, he’s a loner by nature. But he can’t walk away when he sees the pretty female wolf in danger. Risking exposure, he takes her to his hidden den and tries to heal her wounds.

Can a reclusive polar bear and a wolf with a death wish find happiness together?

My review:
Two fantastic stories in one book! I feel so lucky that these two fantastic authors got together to create this dark and frightening world where there is so much sadness yet love can grow and shine through.

Abandoned by Carrie Ann Ryan – This story is filled with surprises and hope.  I love that bear shifter Anya Tucker is tall. It’s tough being a single mom and change isn’t easy under the best of conditions. These aren’t the best of conditions. Having sexy jaguar tracker, Cole McDermott, close enough that the twins can give him a hard time is giving her fantasies of him giving her something hard in return. But when the twins are stolen Cole may be her only hope for finding them.

Unseen by Alexandra Ivy – The Unseen are shifters the SAU are unaware of. They don’t have collars or brands. They are living off the grid and trying to change the plight of the shifters. Wolf shifter Nicole Bradley is hunting down the SAU bastards that shot down her 5 year old son and that hunt takes her across the path of Unseen polar bear shifter Tucker Stone. At serious risk to life, limb and his heart Tucker goes against his nature to help Nicole hunt down the last. Secrets are uncovered and so is Nicole’s heart. Maybe Tucker can give her a reason to go on. That is if they live long enough.

If nothing else these stories will leave you with a feeling of hope. That these characters can go through so much and come out of it with hope for the future you can do no less.

The Scam (Fox and O'Hare #4) by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg

Blurb:
Nicolas Fox is a charming con man and master thief on the run. Kate O’Hare is the FBI agent who is hot on his trail. At least that’s what everyone thinks. In reality, Fox and O’Hare are secretly working together to bring down super-criminals the law can’t touch. Criminals like brutal casino magnate Evan Trace.

Evan Trace is running a money-laundering operation through his casino in Macau. Some of his best customers are mobsters, dictators, and global terrorists. Nick and Kate will have to go deep undercover as high-stakes gamblers, wagering millions of dollars—and their lives—in an attempt to topple Trace’s empire.

It’s a scam that will take Fox and O’Hare from the Las Vegas strip, to the sun-soaked beaches of Oahu’s North Shore, and into the dark back alleys of Macau. Their only backup—a self-absorbed actor, a Somali pirate, and Kate’s father, and an ex-soldier who believes a rocket launcher is the best way to solve every problem. What could possibly go wrong?

My review:
Sit down, strap in and hang on for the supersonic thrill ride that is a Fox and O'Hare caper. In this installment Fox & friends take down a money laundering scheme. It is fun watching Nick adjust on the fly when things don’t follow his plan. I adore Kate and can hear her in my head as I read. This book will leave you breathless and wanting more, more, more.

Worth Fighting For (Black Hills Wolves Book 26) by Virginia Cavanaugh

Blurb:
When Myka Hayes accepted the interior design job for The Den on Tao pack lands, she didn’t expect to be reunited with the wolf that’s haunted her dreams for the last six years. But there he stood behind the bar, looking all too sexy and mysterious.

Kaden Boyd was ready to leave his past behind and begin his future. At least until Myka walked into Gee’s Bar and stirred feelings inside him he’d thought he’d forgotten.

Both burn with desire for each other, but their past complicates things. Not wanting to cause any problems in his new life, Kaden tries to resist his attraction to Myka, but she has other plans. Once and for all, she intends to make him see that some things are Worth Fighting For.

My review:
The previous Alpha, Magnum, screwed up his pack. He killed indiscriminately and destroyed friends and family alike. Lance and Myka Hayes lost their parents and their home to him. Kaden Boyd lost his best friend and then he too was forced out. Now Magnum is gone, Kaden is back and starting over. When Myka Hayes walks into the Den he sees his former best friends baby sister but that doesn’t stop his wolf from wanting her. Lance has no use for the Tao pack and is incensed that his baby sister is there. Will Lance force Myka to choose between him and her future?
This story will tear your heart out but the HEA shines through.  A terrific addition to this loosely connected series.

Not That Type of Guy by Sara York

Blurb:
When CIA assassin Aiden Jackson is trapped between a bathroom wall and a hard man, he chooses the hard man, much to his surprise. Aiden doesn’t want to admit he’s gay, but his first stumble into man love leaves him disoriented, searching for answers and desperate to find the truth. He covers his real desires by dating an ultra hot girl, but it’s the guy sitting a few tables away that draws his attention.

Super nice and attractive Doctor Trace Williams is so special he seems like an angel to Aiden. Their first kiss blows Aiden away. That Trace sees into his soul, even when Aiden is trying to hide everything, pisses him off. Aiden needs Trace in his life, but once Trace finds out the truth about Aiden’s job, will they have any part of their relationship left?

What would you do if your lover ripped apart the very foundation of what you believed?

Warning: This book contains sexually explicit content which is only suitable for mature readers. This book deals with difficult subject matter, including abduction, abuse and murder. It also includes amazing sex between incredibly sexy men, masturbation and an engaging story. Enjoy!

My review:
Aiden Jackson broke my heart. He is tough as nails working for the CIA as an assassin, former Navy SEAL and fighting the fact that he is gay. God what would his father say? He was beat to within an inch of his life for masturbating to an NBA calendar (and not the one with the cheerleaders) by his dad and brothers. He can’t be gay. But then why did he like it so much when Chuck kissed him and gave him the best blow job of his life? Was it just the situation? That doesn’t explain his attraction to Doctor Trace Williams the guy who gave him his card when he was out on a date with a hot girl. They are total opposites. Trace is comfortable with his sexuality and a Doctor who saves lives. Aiden not so much. Watching these two fall in love is heartwarming. Watching Aiden find himself is a joy. I really enjoyed this book.

Faking It For A Friend (Heiresses In Aprons Book 5) by Rita Sawyer

Blurb:
Gina Foster was working damn hard to put her wild woman ways behind her. Getting involved with playboy business man Wes Moreland might look like a big slip backwards to everyone, but Gina doesn’t care. She’s willing to risk her reputation to keep her friend Michelle’s elopement a secret until she’s ready to tell everyone herself. She needed Wes to help her do that.

Wes was seriously on the spot thanks to his best friend JP Abbott asking him to be his best man. Now Wes has to do whatever he can to keep things under wraps until JP gets back from his honeymoon and breaks the news. Pretending to be engaged to Gina is the best plan. Spending time with her would be a hardship, or hurt his image any. As long as she understood that it was over when Wes said it was. Even if that meant it never ended.

My review:
Sweet, sexy, light-hearted, fun, contemporary, fake boyfriend romance. Faking It For A Friend is told with a sense of humor and a real love for the characters.  Great escape read for a rainy afternoon.

Lord & Master (The Billionaires #3) by Emma Holly

Blurb:
My name is Mia Beck, and I'm a lucky girl . . .
Billionaire Damien Call didn’t magically stop being moody just because Jake and I moved in with him. I would be discouraged if I hadn’t devised a strategy. I recently inherited a share in an exclusive erotic club, and they’re beta testing a role-play game. Surrounded by period perfect detail, members pretend to be Edwardian lords and ladies . . . or stable masters, if they prefer.

I hope switching up our dynamic will smooth the snags in our otherwise fabulous ménage. Neither of my lovers has trouble opening his heart to me, but I suspect Damien would benefit from exploring his dominant side, and he and Jake could be easier with each other.

That’s my goal anyway. My plan might go up in smoke when Jake and Damien concoct their own scheme for me!

The sequel to Beck & Call

My review:
Lord & Master is a fantastic sequel to Beck & Call. In Beck & Call Mia & Jake hook up with Damien and move in with him at the end. In Lord & Master Mia talks Jake and Damien into a LARPing vacation with a sexy side.  Watching these three lovers in an Edwardian period fantasy is hot, sexy and delightfully dirty. Watching them grow closer together just pulls the heartstrings.  Lord & Master will make you sweat. I totally enjoyed this latest from Emma Holly.

Rescued by the Bear by Bethany Shaw

Blurb:
It’s just a regular day in the park. Not.

Daisy is in the fight for her life after she stumbles upon a grizzly crime scene. She's chased through the woods, encountering even more danger. Geez... can her day get any better?

Chad finds Daisy in a precariously troublesome situation and immediately goes into alpha (bear that is) mode.

Both have feelings for one another—Though neither know how the other feels.
Yet, that doesn't stop Chad from wanting to keep Daisy safe.

While stranded in the woods over night, the two must fight their attraction, the elements, and the crazy psychopath after them. If they get out of this alive, will Daisy accept his bear?

My review:
Short sweet and fairly predictable but still a fun read. Ranger Chad is a werebear who has had the hots for human Ranger Daisy but is afraid she won’t accept his bear so despite her hints that she would be open to going out with him he has done nothing to make it happen. When Daisy interrupts a body dump she ends up fleeing for her life. Chad rescues her and keeps her alive but the unavoidable closeness is going to test his resolve. Will he bear up and take his mate or will he wuss out?

Dead Awake by Lizzie T. Leaf

Blurb:
Socialite Deb Stein lives a life of luxury until she takes the hunk dressed as a vampire to her bed. When she wakes up one of the living dead, she’s pissed-off. To complicate matters more, she has to find a new identity since everyone thinks she dead. Plus, if she’s dead, she can’t touch her trust fund, and that means she has to work! How can someone who has never held a job find one?

And her social life is in the tank. Her new friends are a street guy called Rat and fellow strippers at the dive where she works. If she ever sees Aaron Lowell again, she’ll put a stake in his heart.

Aaron Lowell feels guilty he took his mentor’s advice and left town after taking the sexy socialite into the undead world. Concerned, he returns to check on her and discovers she’s become a stripper—and not a very happy one when she sees him. But she’s still hot, and he can’t stay away from her, even if their meetings are explosive.

Can two vampires move beyond anger, combined with a strong sexual attraction, to find the kind of love they both crave?

My review:
Fun, fast read. Quirky characters put in fun and stressful situations and the hilarity commences.
This is a re-release with a new cover and a new publisher but the same fun story.
