Touch Not the Cat: a Sexy Halloween Romance by Cathryn Cade

Blurb:
It will take a Halloween intervention of the furriest kind to pair a darkly sexy wizard and a naive librarian.

Egan Warburton can have any woman he wants—so of course this eligible wizard will choose a witch to share his new home. But why can’t he keep his eyes off his pretty neighbor? She’s too innocent for the likes of him … although she does love cats, especially Warlock, his own alter-ego. In either form, he can’t seem to resist playing naughty tricks to get her attention.

Too bad she’s a mortal with no idea his magickal realm even exists.

Paige Turner is the first to admit she’s as vanilla as they come--librarian, good neighbor and kind to cats, even black ones. But in her dreams, she’s a femme fatale who’s not afraid to shake off her bonds of caution and go after what she really wants ... such as her mysterious new neighbor, who is suddenly starring in her most erotic fantasies.

Too bad he’s also the most obnoxious man she’s ever met.

My review:
Touch Not the Cat is a lighthearted sexy fun pnr with wizards, witches and a human librarian who will steal the show. Hunky warlock Egan Warburton moves in next door to mortal librarian Paige Turner. She is smitten by his good looks and totally put off by his attitude. He too is smitten but doesn’t want to be. When he finally decides to pursue her his alter ego, Warlock, a large black cat seems to be doing better with Paige than he is. Love in a small town can be just as fun, complicated and kinky as in the big city. Halloween can be lots of fun. I loved this book and want Mandy’s story next.

Dragon on Top (Dragon Kin 0.4) by G.A. Aiken

Blurb:
Try a little dragon tenderness.

I am Glheanna the Decimator. I am a warrior. A soldier. I know no fear. No pain. No mercy. I do, however, know acute embarrassment! How could I not after getting dumped by a bastard dragon in front of my own troops? So I tuck tail and return to my cave, drowning my sorrows in ale—as is my family’s way. But instead of leaving me to my misery, I’ve been summoned to the Dragon Queen’s court.

As if my life wasn’t pathetic enough, Her Majesty now has me escorting the highborn Bram the Merciful through dangerous territories—not exactly the best use of my military training. And just so he can negotiate with enemy dragons instead of battling them? Honestly, what has my world come to? Then again…Bram is quite easy on the eyes. And the perfect distraction for what ails me. Perhaps I’m looking at all this the wrong way. Maybe there is a place for a little “mercy” in my life…

My review:
I adore Glheanna. She is a strong female succeeding in a male dominated field. As a warrior she is an unqualified success as a woman well she has suffered a recent slump. Maybe she was just looking for love in the wrong place. Bram the Merciful is a minor royal and a braniac. He has an important job in making treaties to keep the kingdom safe and it’s warriors underutilized. He has also had a crush on Glheanna for years. Now she is tasked with keeping him safe while he travels to make a treaty that will make the Dragon Queen the strongest monarch in centuries. Will traveling together bring them closer? Only time will tell. This story will make you laugh and get you thinking. I love this world and want more, more, and more.

A Kiss in the Shadows by Marie Patrick

Blurb:
Danger lurks in the mountains of New Mexico when sheriff-turned-bounty-hunter Brock MacDermott goes on the prowl for infamous outlaw Zeb Logan. Logan killed Brock’s brother and his family in an ambush, and Brock has never forgiven himself for failing to keep them safe.

Driven by his single-minded mission to make Logan pay, he rides from town to town on a lonely quest, careful to keep emotional attachments at arm’s length—until young, beautiful Stevie Rae Buchanan insists on joining his hunt. Stevie Rae’s father was also brutally murdered by Logan, and she won’t rest until the outlaw is either behind bars or dead.

There’s no room for romance when you’re chasing down a dangerous criminal, but when undeniable feelings develop between them, Stevie Rae and Brock must decide whether capturing Logan is worth sacrificing everything else.

My review:
Revenge may best be served cold but it burns hot in the hearts of Brock MacDermott and Stevie Rae Buchanan. Outlaw Zeb Logan has carelessly and ruthlessly taken loved ones from them both and others, they would see him hang if only they could catch him. Brock has been chasing him for a long time when Stevie Rae bullies her way into the hunt. Stevie’s beauty, determination and commitment start a heart Brock long thought dead but falling in love on the trail of a cold blooded killer may just be the smartest and dumbest thing he has ever done.
I don’t often read western historicals so I can’t speak to the accuracy of the times. I can say that this is an intriguing story and that I had a blast watching these two find each other and give each other a new reason to live other than revenge. Brock is a perfect foil for Stevie Rae and Stevie Rae is just what stoic Brock needs to kickstart his heart.  A fun escape.

His Best Friend's Girl (In the Line of Duty #5) by Cathryn Fox

Blurb:
With a little help-and a little kink-from her friend, she might just get her man. In the Line of Duty, Book 5 Skylar Redmond's Sky Bar is regularly wall-to-wall hot soldiers. Yet she is alone-and getting tired of it. Forget about finding a man who'll rock her world in the bedroom. She'll settle for a guy who's stable, kind and compassionate. Too bad that guy still sees her as the pigtailed girl from their youth, not the strong woman she is today. But maybe, with a little help, that'll change. As an ex-military field ambulance technician, Matt James excels at performing under pressure. Pretending to be interested in Skylar to help her capture the attention of his best friend? Piece of cake-because he won't be faking it. He's been in love with her since their school yard days, but never pushed it. She deserves someone who can offer her more. A touch leads to a kiss, and a kiss to a night that throws a kink-or three-into Sky's plan. Leaving her wondering if she's going for the wrong man...and letting the right one slip through her fingers.
Warning: This book contains a girl with her eyes on the wrong prize, and a half-cocked plan-but definitely not a half-cocked hero.

My review:
His Best Friend's Girl is a fabulously fun friends to lovers story with sex scenes that will melt your eyes. Although this is part of a series it can be read stand alone. I don’t know how Sky got to be 30 and still so oblivious but I could say the same for Caleb. It is a total hoot watching Sky figure out just who she should be with. If she doesn’t want Matt I do.

Damage Control (Valiant Knox #2) by Jess Anastasi

Blurb:
In space, you can't hide from temptation...

Nick-named Hardass by the new recruits, Leigh Alphin is captain of the Fighter Force of the battleship Valiant Knox. He’s honorable, straightforward, and hard as nails – except for the soft spot he has for a young woman he rescued off a transport under attack. Now that she’s one of his new recruits, it’s imperative he stop thinking about her in that way.

Especially now that the Knox has been secretly infiltrated by the enemy.

Mia Wolf’s new commanding officer is icy, no-BS, and completely gorgeous. His glances send heat searing through her. Neither of them can afford to make this mistake, yet desire takes hold, consuming them. For the first time, Leigh’s iron sense of honor falters as his heart fights for love… and against an enemy trying to destroy everything they hold dear.

My review:
Military Commander falls hard and fast for new recruit. I love watching the conflict between what is more right. Their love is against regulations but OMG why is it so hard to remember that. This book takes that conflict very seriously and I loved watching it unfold. A fantastic scifi romance.

Witch’s Concubine (Wicked Tales) by Cara Carnes

Blurb:
Nothing stands between a cursed witch and her quarry.

Macy Davenport has two weeks to purge the familial curse or she’ll suffer a sex-starved eternity. Finding a vampire strong enough to handle her rare dragon witch powers isn’t easy. But Doctor Death comes with a very high price and a string of complications.

Prince Dmitri Siysky, aka Doctor Death, doesn’t have time for the fiery dragon witch, even if her carnal dilemma offers interesting compensation. There’s an underground slave ring selling vampires and he’s been sent the witches responsible.

He expected trouble, but he never anticipated Macy.

My review:
Life has forced dragon witch Macy Davenport to become strong but  she cannot beat the curse upon her family line alone. The rumors surrounding Dmitri Siysky, aka Doctor Death lead Macy to believe he may be the only one strong enough to save her life. Nobody counted on feelings entering into the equation.
This is a good story in a complex universe. I really want to read Alonzo’s story. I would have liked more pages as the story assumed knowledge we just didn’t have. But all in all a good read.

Between Two Wolves (BBW Paranormal Shapeshifter Menage Werewolf Romance) by Catherine Vale

Between Two Wolves (BBW Paranormal Shapeshifter Menage Werewolf Romance) by Catherine Vale

Blurb:
Recently single, Risha Reynolds wants nothing more than to escape for a weekend of hiking in the mountains. Burned by her ex, and angry as hell, she desperately needs the peace and quiet. Far, far away from the jerk who left her.
Besides, what better time to climb a treacherous mountain, and say goodbye to the world below, than after a rough breakup? What's the worst that can happen?
What Risha doesn't know, is that peace and quiet isn't the only thing she'll find when far away from civilization.  She's heard the campfire stories of the beasts that go bump in the night, but Risha isn't the kind of girl that believes in myth and magic. Yet when she comes face to face with two wildly handsome strangers, she has to admit that they aren't like any others she's ever known.
If there's one thing she's certain of, it's that Colt and Jericho are hiding a secret, but when she is given the opportunity to uncover the truth, will she be willing to see what they really are?
If she opens her mind, her heart will follow...

Every woman knows that there is no better place to be than in the arms of a sinfully possessive man... except perhaps, between two wolves.

My review:
A fun read. That being said there is really nothing new or different about this story. That doesn’t take away from the fact that this is a smoking hot read that will suck you in. The characters are likeable and the bad guy is an ass. A good escape read and I really love the cover.

Dark Within (The Mythical Knights Book #1) by Candice Gilmer

Blurb:
There are monsters, then there are monsters. Which kind wants her dead?

The Mythical Knights, Book 1

There was a time Marissa van Dyke loved Halloween. Then tragedy struck. Now the sight of a jack-o-lantern only reminds her of what she's lost. In fact, she'd prefer to just hibernate.

But recently her nightmares are becoming too intense to ignore. Dreams filled with horror-movie creatures that come closer to killing her every time. Where these vampires and werewolves are coming from, she doesn't know. She only knows they're relentless.

Neil Drigan has no interest in finding a mate. Bind himself to one woman? No thank you. Permanent is for the wolf pack Alpha--his brother. Yet lately he persistently dreams about running, in full wolf form, to save a beautiful woman who smells of flowers--and death.

At first the woman's identity is a mystery, until he realizes the dreams are a residual imprint of something that really happened. Not only is the woman temptation wrapped in real flesh and blood, she's still in danger. And the one thing he never thought he wanted.

Originally released as "Unholy Night" 2008-2012. Since expanded and fully revamped. (No pun intended, lol. Okay, maybe a little one)

Warning: Werewolves, vampires, Templar Knights with attitudes, and a girl who must face her biggest fear in order to find love.

My review:
Werewolf Neil Drigan gave his brother and Alpha a hard time when he was trying to woo his mate in Brightest Shadow (The Mythical Knights Book #0.5) by Candice Gilmer. He has no plans to settle down anytime soon. But life is what happens while you are making plans. On the night of the full moon Neil is supposed to be safely locked up in his cage with the rest of his pack but luckily for Marissa van Dyke he slipped his cage making him available to save her from a vicious vampire attack. Now Marissa is dragged into the world of vampires, werewolves, Templars and other Mythicals. Neil has to find a way to help Marissa past her own fears and has to get over his own. These two characters are great and I love the world building by the author. If you want a sweet Halloween story this book fits the bill.

Love The One You're Witch (Magically Yours Series Book 1) by Randa Flannery

Blurb:
Sassy, snarky witch Anastasia Gregor does not work with vampires. Unfortunately, she forgot to tell her boss that. Now she's up to her neck (pun intended) in the night walkers as she attempts to help one family fix their love lives...and meets the enigmatic (and slightly cheesy) Lucas, quite possibly the sexiest man alive...well, sort of. And then things get a bit weird...er.

My review:
Fans of Dakota Cassidy and Mary Janice Davidson are going to want to check out this romp. Anastasia Gregor is a snarky fun witch who has issues with vampires. She has a cat familiar to help her with her issues. She is going to need him because her next case has her neck deep in a case involving a vampire family and a love spell gone awry. This is a laugh out loud silly story that leaves you with a smile on your face.

Giving Up the Ghost (13 Shades of Red #1) by S.A. Price

Blurb:
Rhys Bellamy is the front man for the wildly successful 13 Shades of Red, a band hailing from New Orleans that is just a bit more then they appear. He’s sexy, caustic and on a path of self destruction that has everything to do with the fact that he can speak to the dead. A man hounded by the death of his fiancée, Rhys is a lothario of the highest caliber. His life, his band, and his agony celebrates his lost love, Phaedra, and it has made him a very popular man with the ladies, even if they will never mean anything to him. Too bad Phaedra has never and will never contact him.

When the band’s first US tour meets with some unforeseen management issues, Saffron Richards is brought in to take care of it. A veteran of the business, Saffron knows all about Rhys and his reputation and doesn’t want to become another notch on his belt. Too bad fate has it in for the both of them, and gives them an attraction neither can deny.

But life on the road with an up and coming band has its problems, from bosses to groupies to just plain old flat tires. And Phaedra, who has been watching from the mists and reveling in the misery of her lost lover doesn’t want to see him happy. Being together is harder than it sounds, especially when Phaedra crosses the veils on All Hallows Eve to reignite the love that Saffron has set to ash in Rhys. And Phaedra is not giving him up without a fight. Not because she loves him, but because she doesn’t ever want him to forget.

My review:
Giving Up the Ghost is a multilayered rock star romance with a touch of paranormal. Rhys Bellamy is our hero a rock star whose heart was shattered by the loss of his true love. The bands hits are songs he has written bemoaning his loss. He would have been okay if her ghost had hung around to talk to him as he can see ghosts but in all the time since she has been gone not once has she gotten in touch. Saffron Richards is the new tour manager for the band and Rhys is smitten from the first time he lays eyes on her. He has a new chance at happiness and damned if his old girlfriends ghost doesn’t show up to ruin his new start. This is a fun look backstage at a rather unique rock band and staff.  I am really glad I read it and am going to get the next book ASAP.

Wild Ride (Playing for Keeps #2) by Cathryn Fox

Blurb:
A sexy category romance novella from Entangled's Brazen imprint...

Good girl, meet bad cowboy...

Marketing Tycoon Tyler Mackenzie, a.k.a. Wildman Mac, has a knack for knowing what people want and, more importantly, what they need…so when he decides to show sweet and sexy yoga instructor Jess Gray that she's the one for him, he puts a seductive campaign into motion.

When Mac defines the terms for the week and insists she do everything he says, Jess can't help but be intrigued. Since this good girl wants to break free and do something naughty, she agrees to his terms and soon finds herself embarking on a sexual journey that knows no limits. For Jess this is one week of living out her fantasies, but Mac is determined to make this wild ride last forever.

My review:
Wild Ride is a sexy second chance romance. It is part of a trilogy but can be read standalone. Tyler Mackenzie has made his bones in business. Now he wants more. He wants a chance with the girl he never forgot. The quite one he lusted after in high school. He has gotten her to come to a working Dude Ranch for a week and he has that long to convince her to cut loose and give him a chance. Yoga instructor Jess Gray has lusted after Tyler since he was BMOC in high school but she is the shy type and he was way too wild for her. Now she has a week away from her life and is ready to take a walk on the wild side, now if only she can keep her heart safe.
Wild ride is an improbably sweet and sexy story. Mac is hot and sweet and does what he has to in order to make Jess his. This sexy read will heat you up and make you want to take a wild ride of your own.

Sinders and Ash (The Pennymaker Tales Series #1) by Tara Lain

Blurb:
Housekeeper Mark Sintorella (Sinders) works diligently at a resort hotel while designing clothes anonymously, hoping to get into fashion school. Then his carefully planned life is upended with the arrival of Ashford Armitage, son of the fifth richest man in America—and the most beautiful guy Mark has ever seen. Ash must find a wife or he’ll lose his grandfather’s inheritance, and he settles on Bitsy Fanderel. But secretly Ash is gay, and the guy who cleans the fireplaces sets his heart ablaze.

Further stirring the pot is the little elf of a man, Carstairs Pennymaker, who has Mark wearing his own designs and masquerading as a girl to impress the fashion investors in the hotel. When the clock strikes twelve, two beautiful princesses line up for the wedding—but one isn’t a woman. Will the slipper fit? Only Mr. Pennymaker knows for sure.

My review:
I love everything about this m/m Cinderella story from the cover to the end. This like the original Cinderella is a story with a message. I absolutely adored Mark “Sinders” Sintorella. He is out and true to himself and working his ass off to get where he wants to be.  Ashford “Ash” Armitage is rich as Croesus but not happy because he isn’t out and his grandfathers will says his inheritance is dependent upon his getting married. Carstairs Pennymaker plays the role of fairy godmother to perfection. But I’ll admit Disney had a better dresser. Tara Lain puts her own spin on this story that will keep you engrossed and up past your bedtime.
Complimentary copy provided by author/publisher for an honest review.

Excerpt:

“What’s your dream, uh, Mister—”
“Ash.”
“Ash.”
Armitage set his glass down. “I guess I don’t have one. It’s a problem of being born with a lot of money. It can kill your motivation.”
“Bull.” Mark gasped and slapped that hand over his mouth again.
For a second Ash looked shocked. Then he laughed so hard Mark thought he was going to throw up the food he’d just eaten. “Hell, kid, just when I think you’re some shrinking violet, I get to see your true colors. That’s great!”
“I’m sorry.”
He took a breath and looked steadily at Mark. “No, you’re not. I’ve watched you work your ass off around this place for what I imagine is little money and less appreciation, and yet you keep going. A dilettante rich kid like me who has never earned a dime must be beneath your contempt.”
Mark shook his head, but Ash held up a hand. “The only thing I’ve seen slow you down is that asshole in the hall. You don’t have to tell me. I know it was a flashback of some kind. But I would like to know why you kissed me.”
That was direct. Mark’s heart beat like a hammer. Half the truth, maybe? “I was grateful… and confused. No one had ever stood up for me like that.”
“Handshakes are good.”
“Like I said, I was confused.”
“You kissed me. Not ‘thanks a bunch for saving me,’ but a ‘how far down my throat can you get your tongue’ kind of kiss.”
Mark pushed back the chair, jumped up, and stalked into the living room area. Okay, maybe more of the truth. “Look, I said I’m sorry. I’m gay, for Christ’s sake, and you’re gorgeous. In a situation like that, it’s easy to lose your bearings. You were holding me, and you smelled good, and I was scared, and adrenaline took over and—you know the rest.”
Ash looked at him over steepled fingers. “Would you have kissed me under other circumstances?”
“Like what? Selling kisses for charity?” Jesus, Sintorella, control your sarcasm before you get fired. He took a deep breath.
“No, like if we were in a hotel suite having dinner.”
“Of course not.” He had to get out of here.
“Not even if you thought I wanted you to?”
Mark’s heart stilled. “Why would you want me to?”
Ash got up and walked over to the bar. He splashed a little more champagne into his glass. He held the bottle out to Mark, who shook his head.
“Why don’t you ask me again what my dream is?”
Stay very still. This situation is volatile. “I should go.”
“No. We have crème brûlée waiting. Ask me.”
 “What’s your dream?”
“I don’t have one, because I’m too busy pretending to be someone I’m not to actually have a dream. What I really should have said to you earlier is that I’m a liar, and the person I lie to most is me. I see someone like you and it makes me ashamed to be alive.”
Mark couldn’t take his eyes from Ash. Maybe the man was a flame of truth, or a rattlesnake. Both were mesmerizing. “What do you lie about?”
“Almost everything. Why don’t you tell me?”
“You’re gay.”
“Yes.”

Colby: September (Mystic Zodiac Book 9) by Brandy Walker

Blurb:
Colby Noble is a Djinn; a genie in layman's terms. No, not the living in a lamp and granting three wishes kind. That's partly myth. There's more to a Djinn than granting wishes and there's more to him than being a genie. He's the head bartender and co-manager of the bar at Club Satyr. There's nothing major going on in his life, work is good and he's happily single. All of that changes one night when he spies a sexy, curvy witch breathing fire...literally. Witches are his weakness. The kind of women he can't resist. Trust him, he's tried. It doesn't work out well.

Ella Burke, the curvy witch in question, is celebrating a friend's promotion with a night out at Club Satyr. THE place for all things Mystics, including the ability to get a little drunk and wild. Something she's definitely up for…fun after a long week of work. It’s time for her to relax, instead of being the one relaxing others as a masseuse. When she and her friends are approached by reputed heartbreaker and so-freaking-hot-she-could-die bartender Colby, she's intrigued and giddy...but that could have been the alcohol.

Forces outside their control push Colby and Ella together after she accidentally loses his number and he doesn't know how to find her. Strange and mysterious things that have Ella getting her dream job and Colby running back into his dream woman. Maybe this time they'll get their act together and find true love. That is, if another witch with eyes only for Colby doesn't get in their way.

My review:
We have all met a guy like Colby, a charming player who is good for a good time but nothing serious. That is until he meets his future in the form of curvy witch Ella Burke. Ella is fun, sweet and strong. She is perfect for Colby and this should be an easy match for Chloe. If it weren’t for a jealous witch who wants Colby for her own.
This is a terrific addition to the very loosely connected Mystic Zodiac series. Read this and root on Ella and Colby in this perfect for September romance.

Wedding Date for Hire (Anyone But You) by Jennifer Shirk

Blurb:
Maddie McCarthy is single, between jobs, and (oh, the shame) lives with her mother. To make matters worse, she's the maid of honor for her sister's wedding, and desperately needs a date. Then she sees her salvation—Match Made Easy, a service for women in Maddie’s exact position. If she can't find a boyfriend, she'll do the next best thing...

Hire one.

Trent Montgomery isn't actually part of Match Made Easy. He's just doing a favor for his cousin, but one look at the blonde who hired him, and he's totally hooked. Now Maddie thinks that the attraction sizzling between them is just “part of the package.” And Trent is running out of time to prove to her that her date-for-hire might just be her happily-ever-after...

My review:
Fake romance turns real. It took a bit for me to warm up to Maddie. Sure she is out of a job and has been dumped again and her baby sister is getting married but she is most worried about “the curse” that claims the oldest female in their line will never find a man to stick. I liked Trent from the start. He has paid his dues and has changed from the self-centered jock he was in high school. It was fun watching these two get together and watching Maddie defeat the curse.

Disquieted Souls (Black Hills Wolves, #29) by Deena Remiel

Blurb:
Willow Bennett, a fashion photographer, has had enough of the career that’s blackened her soul, and wants out. Her passion lies in taking pictures of nature, and she’s determined to make a living from doing it. When she stumbles upon a gruesome scene in the Black Hills Forest, her life is forever changed.

Greyson shouldn't be alive. As the runt of the litter, his mother left him to die in the wilderness. Picked up by Drew, son of the Alpha, he is adopted into the Tao Pack. Rather than living a charmed life, he lives his days alone, tormented by his abandonment and his unique appearance. His soul yearns for acceptance, peace, and closure.

Willow could be the answer to Greyson’s prayers, or the very death of him.

My review:
Willow and Greyson are terrific characters and I wish the format had allowed us to get to know them better. I think Willow accepted Greyson way too fast and considering his life I think he didn’t get angry enough at the intruders. I loved watching these two “broken” souls find each other. I will admit to crying ugly tears after the scene with Greyson and his mother. Pick this up when you have the time because you won’t put it down.

The media quickly casts Washington, DC's sweetheart as America's most hated heiress. After the police ignore a violent attack on her home, Ari has only one place left to turn...

Taking a bullet for the president made Secret Service agent Lance Brown a national hero. His sexy smile and action-star body made him a national sex symbol. She denies her role in her father's crimes, but neither she nor Lance can deny the heat building between them. Together they play a dangerous game . . . only it's not criminal—it's carnal.

My review:
In Bed With the Bodyguard is a delightful read. There are some interesting plot twists and turns that these two terrific characters will have to navigate in order to be together. I had a blast watching them fuss, fight and fall in love. Though this is the second in the series it can be read standalone with no loss. Its a fun read I recommend .

TASK FORCE HAWAII

Even paradise has a dark side…

Working with local, state, and federal agencies, the men and women of TASK FORCE HAWAII work on cases ranging from bank heists to terrorism. A diverse team filled with ex-military, law enforcement, medical, and technical support, they are Hawaii’s last defense against the worst criminals.

SEDUCTIVE REASONING

Resisting her might just kill him.

Former Army Special Forces Officer Martin “Del” Delano has enough on his hands chasing a serial killer and heading up TASK FORCE HAWAII. He definitely doesn’t need the distraction of Emma Mitchell. From the moment they meet, she knocks him off his feet, literally. Unfortunately, she’s the best person to have on the team to make the connections to help them catch their killer.

A temptation she can’t ignore.

For Emma, it’s hard to ignore the lure of a man like him. Tats, muscles and his Harley cause her to have more than a few fantasies about Del. He’d never be interested in a geek like her, but she can’t resist toying with him. When she pushes the teasing too far, she ends up in his bed. She convinces herself she can handle it until the moment he steals her heart.

A killer obsessed.

Del can’t help falling for the quirky genius. She’s smart, funny and there’s a sweet vulnerable side to her that only he can see. As Emma gets more involved with the investigation, she becomes the target of the psychopath. When the danger escalates, Del promises to do anything to save the woman who not only captured his heart but also his soul.

My review:
An exciting, high energy romantic suspense from the fantastic Melissa Schroeder. Get to know the guys and gals of Task Force Hawaii (a mix between 50 and Major Crimes). I love that there are so many strong women in TFH. TFH is headed by former Army Special Forces Officer Martin “Del” Delano. There are those who are just waiting for him to fail. Failing to solve this murder may just be the ammunition they need. Luckily Del has a secret weapon in quirky genius Emma Mitchell who is under contract to assist in cases like this.  The chemistry between them is fantastic and if they don’t kill each other they may just be perfect for each other. The supporting cast is fantastic and I look forward to their stories as well.

From an early age, Melissa loved to read. First, it was the books her mother read to her including her two favorites, Winnie the Pooh and the Beatrix Potter books. She cut her preteen teeth on Trixie Belden and read and reviewed To Kill a Mockingbird in middle school. It wasn’t until she was in college that she tried to write her first stories, which were full of angst and pain, and really not that fun to read or write. After trying several different genres, she found romance in a Linda Howard book.

Since the publication of her first book in 2004, Melissa has had close to sixty romances published. She writes in genres from historical suspense to modern day erotic romance to futuristics and paranormals. Included in those releases is the bestselling Harmless series. In 2011, Melissa branched out into self-publishing with A Little Harmless Submission and the popular military spinoff, Infatuation: A Little Harmless Military Romance. Along the way she has garnered an epic nomination, a multitude of reviewer’s recommended reads, over five Capa nods from TRS, thirteen nominations for AAD Bookies, and made the USA Today bestseller list in 2013 with The Santinis.

Since she spent her childhood as a military brat, Melissa swore never to marry military. But, as we all know, Fate has her way with mortals. After twenty years as an AF spouse, she and husband, a long with their brats, both human and canine, are now happy they get to pick where they live. She lives in the middle of wine and horse country in Virginia and shops for million dollar homes in Hawaii.
