Two Week Seduction By Kathy Lyons - review & giveaway

Blurb:

A sexy category romance from Entangled’s Brazen imprint…

She’s going to break all of his rules…

Tech Sergeant John O’Donnell was never fond of his hometown. Too many reminders of poverty, his rocky family life, and the girl he was never allowed to have. Now he has exactly two weeks to sort out his mother's finances before he heads back overseas. Two weeks that he's determined to spend as far from his best friend’s little sister as possible.

Alea Heling has a naughty streak a mile wide. Sweet and simple? Boring. She’s been craving a bad boy like John since their wild days together in high school, and this time, she’s not taking no for an answer. But with every panty-meltingly hot encounter, Alea forgets one hard, cold reality—this soldier won't let a fortnight turn into forever...and forever might be exactly what they both need.

My review:
Another winner from Kathy Lyons.  Funny, fast paced and sexy as heck this contemporary romance is a total romp.  Alea is a great combination of sweet and sassy and John is just looking to fall he just doesn't know it yet.

Wild and Fevered (Fevered Hearts #6.5) by Heather Long

Blurb:
Cody Morning Star spent most of his life allowing his wolf to be in ascendance. The brother wolf was more a second personality—friend and protector—but now he and the wolf see the world as one. Mate, pack, and family. Mariska changed everything for him, but his concern grows day by day as the mate he adores struggles and seems to distance herself. It enrages and terrifies him in turns. There is nothing Cody won’t do for his mate, but will she let him?

Mariska grew up a gypsy princess, a member of a roving tribe of Travelers, but her clan left her behind, forsaking her for breaking their laws. Cody’s passion and bite changed her whole world, but the wolf she becomes is not her and she has little control over its actions. She and her wolf agree that Cody is theirs to adore, but the princess longs for more. She craves a pack and family and a child, but can the woman who becomes a wolf ever have one? In the two years since she mated, not once has her body shown the signs of pregnancy and the need is driving her mad.

Wild and Fevered, Cody and Mariska must come to terms with who they are together and who they can be…or will their wild sides leave them forever at odds?

My review:
Thank goodness.  Heather Long finally redeemed Mariska.  I really liked her when we first met her in Brave Are the Lonely.  She was feisty, snarky and a real spitfire.  After her change she became rather hard to like.  She was whiny one minute and bitchy the next.  In Wild and Fevered she finally gets a start on getting her act together.  Once again she is someone I can like.
I would advise reading Brave Are the Lonely at least before reading this.  Although you might just want to go ahead and read the whole series.  It is addictive.

Casey's Warriors (Bondmates #1) by Ann Mayburn

Blurb:
Lorn Adar has searched more than a lifetime to find his bondmate—the one woman he was born to love and the only woman who can save him from the approaching madness that threatens all unbonded males of his race. When a wormhole opens from his galaxy to Earth and the women who could hold their future, Lorn will do all in his power to not only find his mate, but show her a Universe she never knew existed.

Casey Westfall’s normal life changed forever when she finds the sexy leather clad man on her doorstep. One innocent kiss leads to an adventure that will span worlds and Casey will have to choose between the man who is the other half of her soul and never seeing her family or her world again. To complicate matters Kadothians live in polyamerous family units and Lorn will have to convince his Earth bride to accept not only his love, but the love of his best friend and brothers in arms or risk the chance of losing them to either the madness or the Hive—the race of sociopathic women bent on destroying and enslaving everything in their path, but Casey can’t see loving more than one man as being anything other than a sin. Lorn will have to teach his bride that she was created for both of them just as they were created only for her.

In a Universe where all is possible, the battle to protect not only his people, but his heart rests on the soul of a human woman who must face the unknown and take a leap of faith that could save or destroy them all.

My review:
Ann Mayburn has created a sexy new universe where love comes in all forms and is not something to fear or be ashamed of.  Polyamerous relationships can thrive because there is no jealousy due to a psychic bond that allows you to feel what your partner/s feel. I liked the fact that the relationship between Casey and her guys built slowly with them working to earn her trust. And while there is a great deal of smoking hot lovemaking in this book there are moments of great fun too.  I look forward to both Paige & Roxy’s tales.

Will Davenport—aka Chase Ryder—doesn't do interviews. He keeps his real name out of the papers and doesn’t mix his public life with his private. But despite their smoldering attraction, nothing has changed since he had to leave her the first time.

Legally Wed (Lawyers in Love) by N.M. Silber

Blurb:
Once upon a time childhood enemies grew up and fell in love ... and got engaged? Uh oh, this should be interesting ...

Adam Roth and Lily Adler have survived nutty neighbors, cow pajamas, mobsters and "the diaper incident." They have learned to live, love, and work together in harmony. Most of the time. Now with the promise of marital bliss on the horizon, they will need to tackle even bigger challenges, like Lily's anxiety-fueled libido, Adam's increasing exhaustion, two Jewish mothers and an eccentric wedding planner named Mr. Jonathan. Will everyone make it to the wedding alive? Find out in Legally Wed.

My review:

You have to have read Legal Briefs first before reading this.

OH MY SIDES!  I hurt from laughing so much.  This is the hilarious tale of how Adam & Lily got married.  I don’t know how to share with you just how funny this book is without spoilers but if you have read anything by N.M. Silber you already have a good idea.  Irreverent, snarky, and sexy as all get out.  I LOVE this series.

Neanderthal Marries Human (Knitting in the City #1.5) by Penny Reid

Blurb:
There are three things you should know about Quinn Sullivan: 1) He is madly in love with Janie Morris, 2) He’s not above playing dirty to get what (or who) he wants, and 3) He doesn’t know how to knit.

After just five months of dating Janie, Quinn—former Wendell and unapologetic autocrat—is ready to propose marriage. In fact, he’s more than ready. If it were up to Quinn, he would efficiently propose, marry, and beget Janie with child all in the same day—thereby avoiding the drama and angst that accompanies the four stages of pre-matrimony: engagement, meeting the parents, bachelor/bachelorette party, and overblown, superfluous wedding day traditions. But Janie, much to Quinn’s dismay, tosses a wrench in his efficacious endeavors and challenges him to prove his devotion by going through the matrimonial motions, no matter how minute and mundane.

Will Quinn last until the wedding day? Or will he yield to his tyrant impulses?

Regardless, one thing is for certain, Quinn Sullivan will have to learn to expect the Spanish Inquisition (i.e. the unexpected) if he plans to have and keep Janie Morris as his wife.

This book is not a standalone. It is the sequel to ‘Neanderthal Seeks Human,’ it is book #1.5 in the ‘Knitting in the City’ series, and it is a full length, 100k word novel.

Again, you must read ‘Neanderthal Seeks Human’ first before reading this book.

This book is written in first person, alternating POV (Janie Morris AND Quinn Sullivan; but more Janie than Quinn).

My Review:
Penny Reid is high on my list of favorite new to me authors.  She writes quirky characters that will have you howling with laughter.  Warning do not read  her books in public.  In this follow up to Neanderthal Seeks Human we find out just how Quinn gets Janie to marry him.  An unlikelier pair you can’t imagine but Penny Reid makes it work, makes it sing.  I laughed so hard while reading this that I had to keep a box of tissues handy.

About Penny Reid

Author-Photo-Penny-Reid-300x300
SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small people-children (boy-6, girl-4 as of this writing).
By day I’m a biomedical researcher with focus on rare diseases. By night I’m a knitter, sewer, lino block carver, fabric printer, soap maker, and general crafter. By the wee hours of the morning or when I’m intoxicated I love to listen to the voices in my head and let them tell me stories. I hope you enjoy their stories.

Beverly Hills Demon Slayer (Demon Slayer #6) by Angie Fox

Blurb:
All that glitters is not gold…

Demon slayer Lizzie Brown isn’t exactly a diamonds and champagne type of girl. But when an ancient cult becomes the “in” thing in Beverly Hills, she realizes there’s more to it than youth potions, parties, and priceless Egyptian artifacts. There’s a demon involved…and Lizzie’s not on the guest list.

She goes in undercover, along with her sexy Greek shape-shifter husband, her biker witch buddies, and a dog that is way too fond of free appetizers and the red carpet lifestyle. Between dodging detection and uncovering ancient secrets, Lizzie has her hands full. And when the demon manages to hook his claws into Lizzie’s eternal soul, she’s afraid she may be stepping out for her final event.

My review:
Lizzie, Dimitri, Pirate and the biker witches are back and fighting the good fight.  Like the other books in this series you have a wild romp of magic, mayhem and tons of fun.  Lizzie is stronger, Dimitri is sexier and Pirate well I’m pretty sure he has been perfect all along.  So sit down grab a cup of brew and enjoy.  I certainly did.

Animal Attraction (Alaskan Werewolf #1) by Paige Tyler

Blurb:
ANIMAL ATTRACTION was originally published in 2008. It was an EPIC Award Finalist, was chosen as BEST BOOK of 2008 at Long and Short Reviews, and received amazing reviews. When I got the rights back from the publisher a little while ago, I decided to revise and rework the story, adding in new characters, a new story arc, and more suspense, action and adventure, which turned the original novella into a full-length novel, and I think made it even better. Hope you enjoy it!

Not only are werewolves real, but they're damn hunky, too.

Frustrated when none of the real newspapers will hire her as a reporter, Eliza Bradley takes the only job she can get—at a paranormal magazine. Her first assignment takes her to Fairbanks, Alaska to investigate the rumors that a werewolf has killed two local men.

When she meets Hunter McCall, a local college professor and an expert on wolves, she finds herself irresistibly drawn to him and ends up spending more time in his bed than worrying about werewolves. That’s when Eliza finds out Hunter isn’t just an animal in the sack, he’s an animal out of it, too—of the werewolf variety. Talk about a complicated relationship.

But Eliza can’t dwell on Hunter’s little shapeshifting issues for long. There’s another werewolf out there with a taste for human blood, and she and Hunter are the only ones who can stop him. If they don’t, they’re likely to become his next victims.

My review:
Fun, sweet, and sexy.  Sexy werewolf professor meets reporter for paranormal rag.  The attraction is instant and irrepressible.  Now they just have to survive the rogue werewolf who is killing humans and avoid her fellow reporters.  Well written and fast paced this is a fun escape.

Naughty Bits Part III Bound to Please(Naughty Bits #3) by Joey W. Hill

Blurb:
Thanks to her new Dom’s exquisitely special set of skills, Madison is discovering how delicious it can be to lose control. Logan is committed to awakening Madison’s long buried desires, and after he shows her the depths of ecstasy they can reach with a little bit of roleplay, he’s ready to take her to the next level.

But when Madison’s old fears resurface, Logan grows wary of pushing her too far too fast. He can sense just how deeply she longs for release from past regrets, but what surprises him the most is the intense yearning his innocent new sub is awakening in him. Now Logan must decide to what lengths he’ll go to convince Madison to give herself over completely…

My review:
I think I’ve found what may be an upside to reading a serial (but I think it may only apply with an author of Joey W. Hill’s caliber). Having time between each installment allows you time to think and reflect on the characters and what they are going through.  I find it has enhanced this story and given me more time to reflect and sympathize with Madison.  I am enjoying watching Madison & Logan each growing in a very real way.  This installment allows each of them to step outside their comfort zone and learn from it.  I cannot wait for the conclusion.

Cop a Feel (Handcuffs and Happily Ever Afters #3) by Robyn Peterman

Blurb:
When you get time off for bad behavior, romance is the last thing on your mind--but good old-fashioned lust is a whole different story. . .
Life undercover isn't exactly one big party--not when you're a DEA agent--but it sure beats a desk job. Except when you screw up big and someone has to go in and clean up after you. In that case, even paper-pushing sounds better than babysitting an erotic romance writer with as many enemies as there are euphemisms for "throbbing manhood."
I've been taking down drug dealers for so long, playing bodyguard to a woman named Shoshanna Lehump sounds like nothing more than a giant pain in my ass-- and being partnered with the gorgeous egotistical jerk I never should have slept with in the first place just makes a bad situation even harder--especially when he pursues me as diligently as we're supposed to be chasing the bad guys...What's a girl have to do to get a happy ending anyway?
My review:
This is one over the top totally hilarious fun time read.  I hadn’t read anything by Robyn Peterman prior to this but will be rectifying that ASAP.  This book had me rolling.  Quirky characters, incredible pacing, and a rollicking good time made this a keeper for me.  This is the third in the series but can be read stand alone.

Temptation in Shadows by Gena Showalter

Blurb:
Originally released as part of THE BODYGUARD anthology, fall under the spell of Gena Showalter's paranormal romantic suspense novella "Temptation in Shadows." Every day he puts his life on the line, what will happen when it's his heart in jeopardy?

Tall, lean, muscular—and definitely rough around the edges—Sean Walker is not your typical nightclub bodyguard. He’s a controller of shadows, able to wield darkness at will. But when a mysterious woman at the club turns out to have powers greater than his own, he has no choice but seduction…

Now exclusive as a standalone e-title, read the sexy story that captivate readers from New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter.

My review:
Terrific!  Totally enthralling! I couldn’t put it down.  I was sucked into the fascinating world of intelligence agencies and supernatural powers as only Ms. Showalter can do.  I hadn’t read this when it came out in THE BODYGUARD anthology and am sorry I missed it.  When it came available for review I pounced on it.  I felt the ending was a little rushed but I’m sure it was just due to size limitations and really didn’t ruin my enjoyment. I do hope this will be the start of a series.

A Major Seduction (Good to Go #2) by Marie Harte

Blurb:
Major Mike Cava has done his best not to see Maria Thompson as anything but his baby sister’s best friend. Not an easy feat when Maria’s done her best to throw herself at him for years. But now that’s he’s returned to the East Coast and with his family again, he feels easier about handling little Maria.
Except in the two years since he’s seen her last, Maria has grown way up. Good God, she’s stunning. But now that he’s really seeing her, she isn’t seeing him. No more jumping into his arms or smiling and flirting. A bland hello and she’s leaving to go hang out with some other guy. Oh hell no.
Maria spent the past fourteen years mooning over a man who never saw her as anything but a little girl, and she’s done. Or so she tries fooling herself. She’s twenty-four years old, and it’s past time she grew up and over him. But now Mike’s giving “those” looks. He’s acting jealous. And she realizes that she’s not over him yet, and maybe one of her old plans to stir his interest might work this time around.
With the help of her best friend—Mike’s sister—and his younger brother, she’ll prove she’s more than woman enough to handle him. His dominance, his kink in the bedroom, his huge, hot body. But just when she thinks they can make a go of it, he pulls back. She can’t do it anymore. Loving, being hurt, loving, being ignored. This time if Mike wants her, he’ll have to prove it. She’s done.
And he’s just realized he might have made the biggest mistake of his life in pushing her away...

My review:

We met Mike & Maria in A Major Attraction (Good to Go #1) so I was a little confused at first.  This story goes back to tell us how Olivia’s brother and smart mouthed BFF got together.  This is a fast-paced fun and sexy romp starring a tough and sassy young woman who knows what she wants and a tough Marine who isn’t afraid of anything but failure and maybe his feelings for his little sisters BFF.

Missionary Position by Daisy Prescott

Blurb:
Sex? Absolutely.
Love? Not my thing.
I didn't do love or butterflies, but I loved him.
I was screwed, and not in a good way.

Selah Elmore is a smart, independent woman who knows exactly who she is and what she wants. She loves her life being a professor and popular pirate erotica author. However, when she leaves the Pacific Northwest to spend six months studying sculpture in West Africa, she learns she doesn't know a thing about love.

Cocky, suit-wearing Gerhard charms her during a stopover in Amsterdam, but dashing, adventurous Kai sweeps her off her feet in Ghana.

Sparks fly on three continents when perpetually single Selah discovers there's more to love and life than she ever imagined.

My review:
I cannot express how much I enjoyed this book.  Selah is in her early 40’s, never married, no kids and has no problem with that.  She enjoys her life unashamedly.  Kai is in his mid 30’s, divorced, with one child.  He is redefining his concept of success.  When they meet something special is apparent from the very beginning.  Watching these two get together in this sexy funny story had me staying up late turning pages.  Highly recommended.

Captured (Fallen Siren 0.5) by S.J. Harper

Blurb:

Join FBI Agents Emma Monroe and Zack Armstrong.
She’s a Siren. He’s a Werewolf.
Their mission is redemption.

Emma Monroe is a Fallen Siren, cursed by the gods and banished to Earth for her failure to prevent the kidnapping of Persephone. She’s had many names and many lives, but only one mission: redemption. Now she works for the FBI and is on temporary assignment in Charleston. Solving this next missing persons case could be the key to ending her ancient curse—unless the temptation that’s her new partner gets in the way.

Zack Armstrong is a Werewolf. Tall, dark, and dangerous, he currently works for one of the bureau’s elite Child Abduction Rapid Deployment teams. In many respects the man is every bit as mysterious as his secret and perilous past. But there are two things he’s certain about, that he’s going to get his man and his woman.

When Zack finds himself suddenly shy a partner and a third child goes missing in Charleston, Emma goes from consultant to CARD team member in the space of a few hours. The abductions of the first two boys ended in murder, an outcome that neither Zack nor Emma can abide. As they race against time to track down the kidnapper and rescue the latest victim, they find themselves fighting something just as treacherous—a growing attraction that can’t be ignored or denied.

My review:
This is the prequel to Cursed (Fallen Siren 1) which I absolutely adored.  This has the stuff to make a great series.  Smart, sexy and compelling lead characters and interesting mysteries along with terrific writing and world building this is a can’t miss.  Captured tells us of the case where Zack and Emma meet.  This is a full story.  You aren’t left hanging but you are left wanting more.
